Getting back to Hal – the problem isn’t that it’s grindy. The problem is that Hal is a jerk. I’m a PACT commander, not a servant for a lazy bum. Get your own apples.

It’s good to try new concepts and the new hearts aren’t bad but as a completionist it kills me each day I see the hearts I previously completed become unfinished again. I hope not to see this in future episodes. I would even buy the option (with in-game currency) to keep the hearts finished and the vendors unlocked, even if that loses me some kind of farming possibility or whatever. They’re not the sort of content I’m going to repeat anyway. I’d rather be finishing collections or achievements.
Hope to not see something just because of a visual (the empty heart ) ?
Yep, just expressing my opinion like anyone else. And it’s not only because of the empty heart but also the re-locked vendor.
So instead of removal of repeatable hearts you should suggest for a-net to implement some kind of double bar hearts….They shouldnt remove this concept just because of some people OCD.
I’m not suggesting their removal from this map, which is the only place they currently exist. I’m just not keen on their addition to future maps. Nobody’s going to remove the concept. It’s already out there. We’re just expressing our interest or disinterest in it’s implementation, which is what forums are for.
I enjoy ley line riding but I’m frustrated by a couple of issues with them which may be related to ping/lag in australia. For one thing, ley lines seem to be segmented, each segment pulls you along then there’s a pause until another segment grabs on to you. This not only looks disjointed but has you always wondering if you’re still in the ley line, because sometimes I drift out of the bottom. What would be fantastic is if once you’re in a ley line you stay in the ley line until you purposefully exit it. Right now, it seems like I have to manouver to stay in them and it’s hard to tell when you’re in a ley line zone. Sometimes I find myself drifting away from one before I realise I’ve lost it. Some kind of indication, maybe a blue glow around my toon, would at least help to indicate if I’m successfully attached.
On further play, I’m still greatly enjoying the map. It’s still a fantastic piece of work. The thermal vents are a fantastic way to get around. Love em’. My only frustrations/suggestions at this point:
1. The repeatable hearts irritate the completionist in me. I hate to see those uncompleted hearts on my map and have to redo them again and again.
2. The vents get buggy when there’s a lot of players on the map. They don’t recognise you’re in them, or they hesitate to fire, or they fire you but you don’t stop rolling when you land.
3. The Hungry Hal achievement was poorly disguised grind. Even my 6 year old asked, “Why doesn’t he just go to the apples? Or why can’t you bring more apples to him?” There should have been a more believable reason for this task.
4. Which way is north in this map? It seems like some of the token hints were confused about their directions.
5. The ocean looks like it should do some kind of slight damage when you swim in it. It would help sell these islands as a dangerous place, which it doesn’t really feel like.
6. Vent travel should let you get off quicker. As soon as you get shot in the air, you should be able to press your jump key whenever you want to interrupt the travel and glide.
8. I love jps… but this one is unsatisfying. It’s mostly gliding from one dubious rock to another.
9. Would love some kind of new node for my home, like BF’s bloodstone node.
Non Raiders blocked from XP bar spirit shards
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Zoltar MacRoth.7146
Spirit shards drop from pretty much every loot box and tomes in reward tracks. I dont even know what to do with them, drowning in thousands upon thousands of shards. I havent even done a single raid
It’s still something to work towards though and the XP isn’t being wasted. Maybe the reward should be changed to something else? But that’s a different discussion entirely.
It’s only being wasted by a player choice. Sorry, not much sympathy. Everyone in this game is capable of raiding.
But not everyone wants to.
This is a situation where “player choice” doesn’t seem like quite the right term. Anyway, this has already been talked to death in other threads and isn’t likely to change, so I would suggest to the OP to find a raid tutorial group or some friendly guildies and just get it over with, as I’m also trying to do. Good luck.

[Spoiler] Tablets of the Unseen Locations
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Zoltar MacRoth.7146
Thank you. I only needed one more tablet when I found this but it helped me immensely. The last one was a real pain to find. Much appreciated.
Im a little put off by the circus as well. The Skritt are one thing. They always show up in places we visit. Because they’re essentially rats. Hardy simple vermin-like critters that can survive in whatever harsh thing you throw at them. But a circus?
Even in GW1 times, this place was a monstrous hell of a place where 5 minutes meant certain death for 90% of life. Hence its designation as the end game for prophecies. One of the books mentioned just the sea around it as hostile and nearly impossible to navigate. So…lets set up a circus here? Of all the random crap. Who would they possibly hope to entertain? A camp of exiles or something would have even been a little far fetched, but more reasonable than “lets entertain destroyers and rats with a circus”Edit to reduce my hostility: Aside from the circus, i think the new chapter is amazing. The circus thing may cheapen the whole danger aspect of the island, but doesn’t ruin an otherwise wonderful chapter.
GW2 is full of references to movies and book, so I took this one as a reference to the novel ‘City of Baraboo’. It’s a good read. I won’t spoil it for you. Then again, it may just be coincidence.
I’m really impressed with this episode. It’s got so much to do, so much amazing artwork. The size of the islands is astounding! The story was enjoyable and had good moments of surprise and comedy. There are so many items for us collectophiles to find. The traveling vents are fantastic fun… though sometimes buggy. I was going to come on here and rave how much I’m enjoying all of it. Well done, anet!
But the hearts… there’s the fly in the ointment.
I knew they were replayable, but I didn’t realise the heart vendors would also lock each day and have to be unlocked again. That’s a real disappointment. Hearts are not the most entertaining content to do once, but at least once they’re done there’s a feeling of progression. You’ve completed something, unlocked something.
In this map, that progression disappears each day. The same vendors have to be unlocked each day. This makes hearts even less enjoyable than before. I don’t agree it’s replayable content. It’s certainly a gate. The determined will do them repeatedly, I’m sure. I’ll just save up currency and once in a while do that one with the unbound magic tools, buying a huge amount of tools in one go.
I suppose it’s fruitless to ask, but please, anet, leave the vendors unlocked. I did the work. I earned them. By all means keep the hearts repeatable if you want and give some reward on repeated completions, but leave the vendors be.
I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking. More detail required. And mods – please merge with main QoL thread?
Have the option to toggle an icon overlay for item stats combination for exotic or better gear so we dont need to mouse over to know the stats.
Ah, you want to see at a glance that gear is Zerk or Valk or whatever? Agreed. It’s something I’ve suggested too.

I was disgusted by that scene.
I found the Scruffy door scene beautiful and moving. It may be too soon for this but sacrificing one’s self for a door or at a door, can be powerful. May we always remember Hold the door, Hold the door, Hodor. sniff
I’m guessing Hodor is someone from gw1, which I haven’t played. Maybe the door-holding scenes in that game were more poignant, but in gw2 it seems like (to me) that anet waste good characters on bad doors. cough claw island cough
Anyway, that’s getting off topic. Let’s get back to discussing Trehearne’s many faults.
Dude! Where’s my karka?!?
I’ll probably park a toon on the fire islands, specifically designed for fighting fire critters.

According to Matthew Medina on Reddit, Scruffy isn’t sentient, and things playing out the way they did in the cinematic happened for different reasons:
Fair enough. Processing conflicting orders makes sense, I guess. Thanks for taking the time to explain this.

Permanent teleport to friend is an interesting idea. Might have far reaching consequences though in maps like DS where wps are far apart.
It would be worth changing this thread to discuss just that subject alone.

Honestly I was more upset about Scruffy sacrificing himself to open a door…
Scruffy was a significant sacrifice for Taimi to make. He was her own work that she built to overcome her physical weakness, and losing that doubly hurt, especially when she was still stuck in hostile territory. Also, we’ve seen Taimi vulnerable before (an extra fist-shake to Phlunt, grr), and I think many of us were very reluctant to see her in that position again.
I was disgusted by that scene. That scene implied, more than any other, that Scruffy was a sentient being. When he paused, he demonstrated that he wasn’t just a robot she controlled. He exhibited independent thought, he exhibited caring. And he was killed to open a door. That was the most callous scene I’ve seen in the game. I felt more humanity from Scruffy than Treh or Eir. [/rant]
EDIT: I’m assuming he exhibited caring, because that’s what the scene wants us to think. For all I know, he could have been thinking, “What the kitten?!? I don’t want to die! Curse you Taimi.” Still a sentient being either way.
One possibility: back in the 60s, DC comics introduced the Metal Men, sentient robot heroes that would get destroyed in pretty much every issue, but their creator, Doc Magnus, would salvage their ‘responsometers’ and rebuild them, and they’d carry on like it was nothing, good as new each time, without any loss of memory or function.
Maybe Scruffy is not dissimilar to them, in that he has some virtually indestructible component which houses his mind/soul/heart/what have you, so Taimi can keep rebuilding his physical body again and again, perhaps each time making him stronger, faster, better than he was before…
I hope so. He’s a likeable character, even though (or maybe because) he says nothing.

Just my two coppers – the game looks great, even on my old laptop. And on a good machine and monitor, it looks incredible. I’d rather seen more content and QoL improvements, as we’ve been getting recently. (p.s. thank you anet)
Agree that this *cough*trolling*cough* thread ought to be locked.
I don’t want this with Primordus. I don’t want him to be a volcano or a river of lava. I want him to be a gigantic and terrifying monster with wings, like Zaithan was.
When I first read about the Elder Dragons they were described as being as big as mountain ranges. Zaithan.. well, he was kinda big, I guess. As for terrifying… uhm…
I secretly hope we discover that the ring of fire IS primordius. That is, that the islands are the tips of spikes on his back and the earthquakes are just him stretching. I know it wouldn’t quite fit in with the image of Primordus moving around under Tyria ..but darn would it be impressive.
^ But… nobody has been disgusting in this thread or “shafting” the OP’s “reasonable” points. There’s no need to drag the toxicity of other threads into this one.
Anyway… back on topic. I want to address the one point that sticks out most to me: gliding. I actually like gliding because it revitalizes the core maps: it lets a player see them from a new perspective. It makes mapping really fun. People complain that the core maps are too easy. Gliding turns that ease into a zen experience. There’s nothing like finding a high mountain in the Shiverpeaks and flying above all that crisp white snow in the sunrise.
It doesn’t hurt the experience of central Tyria because, as you and the OP keep reminding, it’s optional. The OP doesn’t have to use gliding on the few jps that allow it. Nothing in that paragraph on gliding is a viable suggestion. It’s just the OP saying how much they hate the possibility of gliding (their words). There’s nothing wrong with voicing that opinion, but that’s all it is.
^ Why is that, incidentally? Why do some nodes disappear like that?
Fair enough. That merged thread should probably be stickied.
Why.. why start another thread?

Congradulations. That’s some smart deduction. But can you figure out who’s the father of Marjory’s baby?
Rytlock obviously
How is that possible? I thought he was “fixed”.
The mists rejuvenated him, reversing the neutering. The baby is going to be the half-human half-charr Scion of the Mists who will finally reunite Kryta and Ascalon, and forge an unending Furry partnership between the humans and the Charr.
It’s birth will convince Jennah and Smodur to finally profess their love for one another and the ceremony will be so beautiful that the Separatists will be convinced to lay down their arms and the Fire Legion will repent and be forgiven, only to be welcomed back into the fold.
The baby will be supercharged with Mists energy and grow up to adulthood in 24 hours and be a natural leader and strategist, taking over the Pact Marshal position, marrying an Asura for love and politics, and leading the united might of the races of Tyria (also the Grawl who now worship the baby as a god) against the remaining Elder Dragons, wiping them out once and for all.
The heroism shown by the baby will be enough to convince the human gods to show up again because we’ve earned their love once more, and Dhuum, Menzies, Balthazar, and Grenth will all kiss and make up with each other. And then we all live happily ever after.
Except the Skritt. The baby isn’t shiny enough to warrant their attention.
wipes tear from eye
What a glorious future!
What’s this? A post providing feedback and suggestions to change my favorite game??? dramatic gasp…such blasphemy!
The OP doesn’t like gliding. That’s fine. It’s optional, so he doesn’t have to use it. But his ‘suggestion’ was to take it away from the rest of us. That, and a couple of his other points, demonstrate that he is really looking for another game. That is a far simpler answer than trying to change this game to suit the generic mmo he seems to desire.
Its not like the OP is just holding you down trying to pry the glider off of you! A suggestion is nothing but that, but people immediately jump on the OP for even mentioning alterations to their favorite part of the game, as if the OP is sitting at the A-Net office about to delete any gliding-related code and assets from the clutches of helpless players mid-glide.
Its a constant walking-on-eggshells situation on these forums and on reddit. I’d love for some people here to just have some chill and simply respond with a normal response; more “I actually like the (feature) because (reasons)” and less of “I strongly DISAGREE with your Opinion/Suggestion regarding (feature) and shall proceed shoving down 100 reasons why your opinion is WRONG!” ._.
And to people that have chill and offer decent responses, I appreciate you.
Dude, I’ve looked back through this thread and all the responses the OP got were calm and rational. People took the time to talk about what they like or didn’t like about his suggestions. The only non-chill response in this whole thread was your melodramatic “dramatic portrayal”.
So if there are any devs looking at this thread… I can only speak for myself but I don’t think I’m on only player that would appreciate seeing some of the new tech come to the core game. Along with the stuff at the top I would like to see…
-Spiders that jump on your face and pump poison though your eyeballs
-Jotun that smash the ground so hard a wave of earth knocks you to the ground
-Enemy casters that create physical barriers that can be destroyed or jumped over
- Ettin that beserk
- Imps that use chrono magic
- Cave trolls that can create darkness like the cave in TD
- Krait capable of using reaper shrouds
- Ogre druids!
Haha! Yeah… and skritt that steal your pants.
What? I can’t be the only one who’s thinking it.
Congradulations. That’s some smart deduction. But can you figure out who’s the father of Marjory’s baby?

Also there is no good reason why we don’t have a mob in the game called Thunder Cat.
:D
Thunder… Thunder! THUNDER CATS! GO!
I do like your ideas… but the central maps do need to stay safer for learning/mapping/just relaxing. So I came up with an idea that might work – and borrows from the recent bandit events.
Imagine there’s a totem of some sort. You find it in a cave or through some collection. If you carry this totem, it enrages any creatures you meet, giving them the powers you describe but they only use these powers on the totem carrier.
EDIT: On further thought, it would tie in nicely with the recent blood-crazed beasts event. Maybe instead of a totem you find some a special shard of bloodstone that enrages beasts. It could even be called… bloodstoneite.
(edited by Zoltar MacRoth.7146)
Given the direction in the recent LS episode, I’d like to see some halloween themed aerial abilities in non-BF maps during the halloween period- even if they’re just cosmetic. Like a costume brawl in the sky.
Pumpkin bomber? Candy corn machine gun? Maybe a tonic that turns you into an actual large bat?
As a programmer, I like automating things. It’ll never happen but I dream of being able to write little scripts in this game to automate some things. For example, being able to write a trigger on an event like ‘new bag received’. The script would go something like: new bag received → open → deposit all to bank → compact → salvage all below exotic → sell ecto on TP. I don’t think such a script would be game-breaking but it would help with household tasks. But yeah, it’ll never happen.
I should have added that I’m in Australia – our higher ping might have some influence on this.
I have an interest in overlays, but what you’re discussing there aren’t really overlays, more like context menu options or extra buttons. Is the post misnamed?
Perhaps what you really want is to add your suggestions to the main QoL Suggestions [Merged] thread?
On the videos they shoot then move their rifle and still hit the target but when I move my rifle after pressing the key it shoots where I stop the moving not where I shot originally.
I’m experiencing this too.

Yes, this thread has become innundated with comments. People will take any oppor-tuna-ty to carp on.
My charr friend always told me asura’s ears make a nice crunchy meal. Time to find out
Charr fur make nice hats too. Tell your friend that when Black Citadel falls he is welcome on the Charr farm. Shavings happen once a month. Its an event for all Asurans to watch.
I hear they serve a delightful sylvari salad too. Lunch and entertainment. A good day out.
^ Agree on the problem, though my suggestion for a solution is to display a summary of running events at the right hand side of the UI, in some kind of summarised form. It’s a small zone. Would help to know what events are currently running without having to be near them. Actually, I’d love this kind of summarised list in every zone, but at least in BF.
Will they be in hot water if they do?
Or if they don’t? 0.o
This really gets my blood boiling. I am steamed that you could make such a remark.
Easy there. Take a cold shower. It’s just water under the bridge.
They’re just as likely to fight each other as they are the races of Tyria. It would be cool if ANet did that, 2 Elder Dragons fighting.
I say, let them fight.
Why can’t I just magically rub Eir back to life, like I do with other players? Is she carrying a do-not-resurrect card?
They’ve been a little out at sea with underwater combat, but who knows what might surface with the next episode/expac? For all we know they’ve had a better underwater combat system bubbling away for years and may float it in this season. I hope they get it right or there will be a flood of complaints that’ll make the visual nerfs thread seem like a drop in the bucket.
I, for one, welcome our new Asura overlords.
They’re hiding the Dakara Superweapon. And one day, they’re going to use it on everyone except themselves.
