For me, the strangest thing about it is the name. If they’d called it anything except “customer appreciation”, it wouldn’t have been so weird.
For example: “Quick Fix Box” or “Happy Haggis Day Commemorative Bundle” or just “One Day Fire Sale Pack”.
They could have used any of these and still put out a hasty, one day sale with lousy loot and no warning and it wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow.

But to do it like they did and call it “customer appreciation” seems an interesting decision, almost… like a double-meaning. It feels like the kind of thing somebody does for you when they don’t really care but they feel they need to go through the motion so they do the bare minimum. Maybe they gave the job to an intern and he threw this together in 5 mins and called it a day. I don’t know. It just seems odd. Whatever.

It’ll never happen, but I’d love to catch… I mean, merge them all. (One converter to rule them all! Precious!) The existing singularity multi-converter could be changed to accept all the other converters – even the HOT ones if you have them. And renamed to something like the omniconverter, or multiconverter, or converter tome. Or maybe the Codex of Conversion™. I’m salivating just imagining this. I could put the omnicon in one of my shared slots. Mmmm.

I don’t mean to be harsh but I suspect you’re going to find this a fruitless thread because i) without technical details it’s going to be hard to determine anything objectively, and ii) you’re lumping many technical issues into one lump. The connectivity issue, for example, depends greatly on whether your router is sufficient for the number of devices in your household, not to mention your provider, network, and all the bits and pieces between you and the anet servers. Too many variables, unknowns and uncontrollables. By lumping it together and blaming the ‘client’ there’s just no objective discussion to be had. There’s nowhere to go with this.

I have nothing against wings. I don’t like them, but I don’t dislike them either.

However, as a player I do notice a huge lack of imagination. I want to fly on a firefly, or glide with a helicopter, or glide behind a thermonuclear rocket that explodes on impact , or a paper plane like the one I created in childhood, or be carried in claws of a pigeon like a paper message. There is not enough diversity in gliding, but this is just my humble opinion.

Unfortunately this discussion is opened too late. Heart of Thorns expansion (that introduced gliding) has reached an ending. I fail to see any good reason for gliding redesign now.

They’ve been adding weirder and weirder gliders, so maybe it wasn’t so much a lack of imagination at first as much as them not knowing what was possible, but experimenting with more and more varied glider designs as time goes on.
In any case, none of the ideas you’ve suggested above need a redesign of gliding. I think they’d all be feasible within the current design… except maybe the thermonuclear rocket. Lol. Making a big explosion every time you landed with the glider would probably start people asking for an option to turn off other people’s gliders. But I could see them doing the paper plane, the pigeon and the firefly. And there’s already a helicopter of sorts. So there you go. Keep wishing and you never know.

EDIT: I took your ideas to be glider suggestions, not wing suggestions because that’s how you described them later in that paragraph. Now back to your regular wings-related conversation.

One thing I’d like is that if you have something in a shared inventory slot and you get another, it merges with that instead of going into the normal inventory.

I tend to put keys in shared inventory slot (since I might have one of several different characters going to the map that uses them), and after doing events, I find more of that same key in normal inventory.

^^^ Same here!! I second this suggestion.

Zoltar MacRoth.7146

Come, come, Vayne. Settle. I’m sure anet can come up with an innovative way to incorporate flying mounts that doesn’t invalidate the open world.

How about a flying mount that flies so high you get a condition called “apoxia” where your supply of a resource called “oxygen” slowly drains until you get downed.

Also, the mount will take you anywhere, but it can’t land. You have to set your traits to reduce falling damage, jump off and hope for the best…. every time you want to harvest a plant or join in an event.

And the only way to get on the mount is to climb that jp in Siren’s landing.

I’ve found the home instance gets more homely the more nodes and cats I’ve collected, so I’m happy if the least they do is creating more stuff to put in the home instance.

Even better would be if we could move the positions of some of the nodes.

And I don’t “leech” off my nodes. I maintain their well-being by selective daily pruning.

Only you can decide that. I’m going to get more because I want to reach a point where I can hop onto any of my nine class toons as I feel and do the same daily routine without worrying who’s carrying what. To that end, I’d prefer to keep all my keys in those slots, for home instance chests.

I dream of being the kind of mesmer who can create dozens of clones. They don’t have to do any damage at all, just run around and shoot their weapons and creating chaos!

The Mounts are Useless

Zoltar MacRoth.7146

in HoT it takes you 10min to figure out a way from the ground to a location 50m higher, in PoF it takes tyou 10min to run a (mostly) linear but longer way with just a few mount-jumps. I really don’t see the problem of less waypoints.

This is exactly the reason I don’t like PoF approach. It transforms a game that compels you to explore, to think and to try again into… pressing “forward” key 10 minutes (Or not even that, if you know where the autorun is)…

In fairness, you haven’t experienced the full PoF approach. You’ve seen one horizontal map, which explores the capabilities of the raptor. There are other mounts with other abilities and there will be terrain to match those abilities and test your creativity in using them to explore the map. Do you expect to just press forward or auto-run on the rabbit mount? What about the wolf that teleports and can turn mid-teleport? Does that sound like just pressing forward? This is a case of reading too much into a thing before you’ve seen the whole picture.

I like this. I’d also like it if you could pop up several mirrors and, for a period of 30 seconds or something, be able to pop through them as if they were portals. You wouldn’t be able to control which mirror you came out of, but it would allow you to take pot shots at your target and flee into a mirror.

To make it clear, frostballs current idea of mirage is the following

Krait runes for jaunt
ineptitude+blind on shatter
signet of midnight
axe

Jaunt on target, spam every single shatter, get the elite proc and get a massive condi spike. Playing this as a silly thief +1er

Cool in theory. In practice 1 well of eternity, 1 astral form, 1 leadership rune proc and all of your cds and burst is gone. Less effective than a thief by x100. Garbage in a teamfight. Inferior 1v1 to chrono, can’t hold a fight for its life, garbage 2v2, etc

Frostball has literally for years been the kid who always tries to refuse what everyone else does and do ‘’his own thing’’ and insist that it’s better. This is the person who plays the inspiration build with carrion and played bunker mesmer with the damage well.

Fantastic pvper, one of the best mesmers in the game by far but also someone who has historically ALWAYS been a contrarian who wants to be cool and stand out by never agreeing with what’s actually true.

Also, your build is bad lmao

I see you got sindys advice, although his guess on my build was wrong in some parts so such is yours. If you cant burst again within short periods of time with my build youre doing something mechanically wrong. All of your cds most definitely arent gone with one burst and the burst isnt gone with a simple thing like a leadership proc. You need heavy condi cleanse.

So… what… is… your… build?

Elite spec weapons available to base class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zoltar MacRoth.7146

Zoltar MacRoth.7146

I’ve raised that point a while ago and people made an interesting remark about this.
Each specialization is tied to a new weapon for the profession. But there will be a time when professions will have access to every weapon types available. At this point Anet won’t be able to assign a new weapon to the next generation elit spec if those weapons become baseline [without developping entire new types of weapons which would amount to a kittenload of work].

By tying weapons to elite specs, they’ll be able to add new specialization which will use existing weaponsets in an entirely different manner. For example, there could be a new Thief elite specialization which would use range/magic staff, or with different dagger attacks, etc.

Hmm.. true. But wouldn’t that cause a kitten load of confusion? I don’t mean for players playing the spec and remembering which daggers variation they’re playing – that’ll come with practice. But for others seening a dagger theif.. they wouldn’t be able to tell which dagger specialisation he’s using. And does that even matter? (:o

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zoltar MacRoth.7146

Zoltar MacRoth.7146

No, keep weapons tied to their respective specs. You have to make hard choices, that’s the point.

As AstralPoring, and others, have pointed out using incompatible weapons/traitlines would make for ineffective play – isn’t that a hard choice a player should be free to make?
Restricting this only makes for easier choices, not harder.

I’ve contemplated this dilemma (deeply) and I have a solution: separate map instances for pro/anti-mounters, dictated by a flag in the Options panel.

Those that wants mounts can tick the flag and get put in maps where they can see/ride mounts.

Those that leave it unticked get put into maps where the entire map is a non-mount zone.

I know, I know. It’s brilliant in it’s simplicity.

If you dismount in mid air to glide, does your poor mount crash to earth? That’s cruelty that is. if so. It should be fixed so that your mount glides (visibly) with you. Also, you could have a remount from glide option.

Where does the mount go when you’re dismounting at ground level? Hammer space, of course. And that’s where it goes when you dismount in the air. Hammer space. It’s safer in there than you are.

And I agree on the glide→mount option. Way cool.

My only suggestion is to add a hotkey for mounts so that you can just press a key to mount/dismount, instead of having to click the little icon in the bottom right.

Adding to this, I’m hoping there will be four hotkeys so we can quickly mount a specific mount.

And also that using these keys will allow us to switch between mounts without dismounting/remounting. Just hoping.

^ THIS so much! I fell off a big cliff and killed my poor raptor.

Also don’t completely eliminate the emphasis of gliders just because of the introduction of mounts. Add in some updrifts and leyline energy for people who own HoT to enjoy gliding too!

Agree with this too.
