AoE from the mobs would probably wipe them out fast.
In regards to Flashing Blade and Judge’s Intervention:
Here is what I would like to see contrary to what I previously posted.
If I don’t have a target selected, then port me to the farthest direction possible in the direction I’m facing. If some schmuck is behind me trying to kill me, don’t make me auto target that guy and flash 2 steps behind me to him.
If I do have someone targeted, then flash or JI to that target, if said individual is outside my range, then flash me as far as I can in his/her direction. You can leave the damage from swords where it is if you gave us that.
Turn off auto-targeting to not flash behind you. Giving sword #2 the ability to move forward without a target is fine but giving it to JI might be a tad OP, maybe 600-800 range if JI has no target.
Think Tarsius got it pretty summed up.
Guardiand largely speaking work well, are a popular main choice and effective (even essential) in every aspect of the game.
They might have some problems (every class does) but they dont need attention as much as other classes do.
It’s not that they’re paying more attention to other classes, it’s that they’re ignoring what we’re saying here on the forums. They come to us with a SoS change, we reply saying that the change isn’t good or could be done in another way (with requests for soft CC) but then Anet replies with “maybe 5% more damage on sword really isn’t needed, what do you guys think” then totally disappear. It’s like trying to have a discussion with bulletin board.

Make the sword and hammer activate on your target when you summon them (you can activate them again), bow’s active needs to be a target AoE.
Jon is still nowhere to be seen.
RF may not be the best elite out there, but it is one of our better ones. Changing it to block would be a huge nerf to it. What they need to buff is Tome of Wrath’s #1 skill, Guardians rarely bring condi damage.
Since the last patch I’ve been feared a few times while in RF (goes on full recharge, so not lag).
I think it may be due to Fear Me? I’ve been Fear Me ’d in Shelter once as well now.Block would be awful, but all in-vulnerabilities are bad for the game anyway, all should be significantly toned down.
I’ve been feared through Shelter also, I’m just not sure of the source. Never been feared through RF though.

I think a conversation would be cool. I’m not sure how that could work on the forum. Frankly, I think it would be a gong show because I can anticipate it going like this:
Jon: OK, let’s talk about Guardian
Forum Mob: MOBILITY! CONDITIONS! WARRIORS!
Jon: Here is what I think about that
Forum Mob: OMG, Anet doesn’t know anything about the profession! This class will always suck! I’m deleting my Guardian!
Anet most likely knows what we want (I hope) but they have there own vision of the class they want to enforce and most likely will ignore our wants until they see the results of there changes.
dude, really? do you really own a guard and say they dont have speed?
- staff
2 shoutswith that you get perma speed
Yep, we can chase down every class sans necro with that. /s
Traveler’s are great for solo/small group roaming and overworld PvE. You’re better off with Soldier’s or Boon Duration runes within a zerg as swiftness will be very common.
Hopefully that means a clean-up of the Zeal line and Spirit Weapon traits. Glad to see you guys trying to get condi Guardians going.
^they don’t seem to know we’re probably one of the highest dps classes around if we want to be though
the buff wasn’t really needed.
Against stuff that’s standing still, yes.
The problem is Kindred Zeal is awful, and will stay awful until they bump it up to something like 30-50%. It doesn’t mean jack diddly to have condition damage when your only damaging condition is burning. Perplexity be kitten ed.
…Perplexity Guardian? Gogogogo!
And we still can’t stick to people.
(edited by ZoroDaOtter.3859)
A right step on the Guardian changes IMO, but why is Kindled Zeal still condition damage? Guardians only have access to burning which isn’t very good by itself.
Guardian:
Tanky and supportive guardians are in a strong position in many gametypes. We do feel that damage guardians are not as powerful as they could be. While we don’t want guardians to be as strong offensively as some of the other classes (given their powerful defensive abilities) we opened up more offensive guardian builds.
- Zeal V – Shattered Aegis. Damage instead of Burning.
- Zeal VII – Zealous Blade. This trait now scales with Healing power (2%.)
- Zeal XII – Kindled Zeal. Increased conversion from 10% to 13%.
- Radiance V – Searing Flames. Reduced cooldown from 20s to 10s.
- Radiance X – Powerful blades. Increased damage from 5% to 10%.
- Valor V – Retributive Armor. Increased conversion rate from 5% to 7%.
- Honor VI – Pure of Heart. Increased scaling with Healing power from 25% to 40%.
- Virtues VIII – Supreme Justice. Number of attacks going from 4 to 3.
- Symbol of Swiftness: This skill now applies 4 seconds of swiftness per pulse, rather than 8 seconds if you have no swiftness and 1 second if you have swiftness.
So it looks like they’re trying to buff our damage and cleaning up some of the more “useless” stuff, a step in the right direction. But why is Kindled Zeal still a thing?
If you’re willing to switch to a Sword + Focus / Torch you can always run the classic 10/30/30/0/0 with Right-Handed Strength. Other than that I don’t know of any offensive hammer builds.
Brutaly to that i say… DUAL HAMMER CHILL BUILD! XDDD
If you swap to the same weapon type, the CD’s don’t refresh.
Radiance 5 over Zeal 5. AoE blind is better.
A moving Sanctuary centered on the Guardian would be hilarious.
It’s a step in the right direction, but if the requirements for activation are still the same then it’s crap since you have to pray the god of RNG. I want to choose when to activate it.
Make Kindred Zeal (Zeal XII) apply AoE chill on VoJ. Then maybe we have a reason to spec down that line.
Turn its passive into the much demanded 25% speed boost (33% with Perfect Inscriptions).
I’m going to assume this is for roaming as aegis will get popped pretty much instantly the moment you dive into a zerg (you’ll probably also explode instantly too). As foofad said, using “Retreat!” for a shorter CD on demand aegis will be better. I’m going to suggest X/Focus as a secondary set for Shield of Wrath as it takes precedence over aegis (someone actually as to go make sure this is true) so Unscathed Contender can be up for longer.
Blind Exposure → Halting Darkness: Applying blind also applies one second of immobilize.
Problem solved?
IIRC, a D/D Elemetalist has 3 fire fields, one projectile finisher, and 3 blast finishers.
If someone needs that much healing, that someone is doing something very wrong.
I think anet is really trying to get this game to be an esports, at least the spvp side. I am okay with that but I don’t think they should force it. Example in another game: PlanetSide 2 developers just signed a contract with MLG to try and get that game popular in the esports world. This is going to fail horribly because PS2 isn’t set up as an esports game, let alone a tactical game that requires thinking. I am fine with GW2 spvp trying to be an esport but don’t force it. It will come if it has the potential.
If Anet is trying to turn the game into an esport, it’s missing many, many, many features.
However, the listed damage of WW is incorrect, the actual damage is higher. In practice, 2MB = 1 WW still.
Also the listed damage is for seven hits and two projectile hits (total possible is 14). You may or may not hit more than that.
After you grab some gear for decent crit chance, you could run GS + Empowering Might (Honor 20) for nice might stacks.
RoW is great with JI. Get used to the timing and it’s knockdown + light field + forces them to dodge/tele/stability. If they mess up trying to dodge out, they lose endurance and get knocked down again (although it really shouldn’t be bypassed by a dodge). Good for helping you escape as well (forces them to go around… if that’s even possible due to walls/terrain). If you don’t use JI I would rate this skill a 2/5… if you do… 4/5.
I have no idea why the Ward go off around half-way through the cast time instead instantly at the end like most skills. Most of the time I’ll end up completing the animation but the ward will be where I teleported from.
LoF – Good leap range (600) + aoe bilnds (combos very well with vuln on blind). Good gap closer, but can miss targets due to elevation/terrain at times. Also useful to create a gap/get out. 4/5
Note that if Blind Exposure is traited, it will apply three stacks of vulnerability for every target hit, so if you hit two targets, it will apply six stacks to everything hit.
The wording on runes are really strange. They use “struck,” “when hit,” and “on hit.”
“Struck” and “on hit” are pretty obvious when they trigger, but what does “when hit” mean? Is it when you get hit or when you hit something?
The sword is more of an offensive weapons than a tanky one. You could try a bunker build. Sigils/Runes are up to you though.
Use your utility skills to keep retaliation up and to lessen the damage you take (protection/regen on yourselves while weakness on the enemy). Try to fight within your symbols as they continuously heal you. Use Greatsword for offensive and Mace/Shield when you need to be defensive.
Most people run this this. Two-Hand Mastery can be switched out for Empowering Might if you don’t mind the extra CD.
This build does not use two-handed weapons so Two-Handed Mastery is a waisted trait. I’m also not sure why Healing Breez should be good for a solo build.
Forgot to do the skills/weapon. Fixed now.

Depends on what you want to do really. If you want to do nothing but damage or have kitten amounts of CC, warrior or mesmer is better.
Seems pretty solid but the mobility is lacking when compared to classic triple mediation.
I have a question about the condition removal with the light field actually. WHen I do the GS #2 in the GS #4, it shows the condi removal combo thing. Is it actually removing conditions from me though? Or from someone being hit by the bolts?
I believe it’s removing conditions from you and those that are hit by the bolts.
Also why does the GS do more damage? Hammer hits hard doesn’t it? And its #2 is much shorter CD than GS #2.
Sorry for so many noobish questions, and thanks for the answers and insight.
Because GS hits faster and can hit more people. With a decent amount of crit and the Empowering Might trait, you can even get decent stacks of might.
Basically run hammer if you want perma-protection and to trigger blast combos with #2 frequently, otherwise run GS.
Depending on build, you should be looking for Power, Crit, Crit Power, Toughness, or Healing Power. Condition damage is quiet useless for a Guardian IMO.
They’re decent to average at best. The only one that is really worth it is Hammer of Wisdom as it hits pretty hard and has a 3s knockdown. Sword of Truth is okay as it does decent amounts of damage and has an insanely low CD when traited. Shield of the Avenger is decent only in certain places where projectiles are abundant and even then, Wall of Reflection may be better.
SW build is very good and I think that it’s the best build you could have because of the long cool-down of the other skills.
You have to focus on power and toughness as power scales with their damage.
My build > http://tinyurl.com/bhyxacw
IMO, Wrathful Spirits isn’t really worth the investment as spirit weapons attack pretty slow. But then Zealous Blades isn’t any better.
Tooltip is raw dmg. 7k dmg is true crits and crit dmg
The tooltip says “damage (9x): XXXX”. Does that mean XXXX per skill in 9 parts or 9 times XXXX? Anyway, as far as I can tell it produces 7 projectils and hits more than 2 times in melee (wiki says 7) so why “9x”?
That’s probably your guaranteed hits on one target. It means the total raw damage it will do if you hit it nine times.
IMO, Spirit Weapons could use a a bit of improvement.
Sword of Justice’s active needs to rush to your current target then explode like the Hammer of Wisdom.
Bow of Truth’s active needs to be target area. It currently rains its arrows on the location where you activate it but its activation is so slow that by the time it lands, you’ve already moved.
Shield of the Avenger needs tighter pathing. It often lags behind and casts SoA where you don’t need it.
Strangely enough there isn’t a PvE set to match sPvP’s Valkyrie’s Amulet.
Use Ring of Warding and then Judges Intervention before it finishes casting. SUDDEN CAGE MATCH!
I would love to play though the Fall of Ascalon.
Pretty much what the title says, is there a way to reaquire the starting pauldron?
On a side note, there’s 2.5 (3?) greatsword legendaries and everything else only has one. It feels like greatswords were favored by the design team.
the buff wasn’t really needed.
