Don’t get your hopes up. We ended up with LESS features in the game after the last “feature” pack.

Only Anet could hype up the removal of things and call it a “feature” patch.

If you set your expectations there then you won’t be disappointed. Any higher and you’ll likely not enjoy the “feature” pack.

Think of it this way:

The cost is 300g, it is discounted for the next 3 weeks to 100g. After that the price is 300g again.

Vague post is vague. They don’t mention that the colors cost, but they also do not specifically state that they will not cost.

I don’t believe they’ve changed their mind yet.

It isn’t vague at all…

“We’re also happy to announce that once you are a commander, you will have access to a variety of colors. Choose from red, yellow, purple, or classic blue to customize your commander icon!”

It clearly says that once you are a commander you have access to all the colors. It literally couldn’t be any clearer.

The TP is functioning as intended.

If you could only take a few items that you wanted then you could use the TP as a place of infinite storage to store items you want to flip at a later date.

Forcing you to pick up all items prevents this from occurring, and as such should not and will not be changed.

List the "meta" classes in order.

I’ll say it again: There has to be more to the commander tags than just new colors. During the CDI last year, the leader of WvW asked if we just wanted new colors in the short term or if we wanted to wait longer term and get a more complete overhaul. Given that they didn’t release the new tags in the short term, he would seem quite silly if they only release new colors now. I like to think he is better than that.

As for the mastery skill, that is blah. I do like the new trick though. That should make things more exciting.

Short term = 1 year

Long term = 5 years

I just made the backpiece and wanted to leave some feedback as well.

*I really loved the scavenger hunt and that it took me to places that I hadn’t visited in years.

*It was great that it needed so few ectos to get an infused version of it and that it gave use to forgotten materials such as fractal relics, charged ctystals, bloodstone dust etc.

*It was awesome that we could choose the stats ourselves.

*It was a bit annoying that it required 4 crafts mostly because of the item transfering between characters.

*I also believe that geodes and foxfire should have been added to the collection because getting them all in one place from all the characters was a pain.

*I did however hate a lot the timegated food, lamp and clay pot, especially the food since we needed so many of them. That stuff should have been made account bound.

*The geode farming was a nightmare, I believe some of the recepies should have been purchasable with Badges of Honor instead.

I agree with most of this.

geode farming tip:

1. Port to dry top at xx:35

When sandstorm starts do events in this order:
1. Skritt thieves by centaur camp (port after killing 3 skritt)
2. Escort asuran researcher (port after killing first group of skritt)
3. Escort haze
4. Kill champ devourer queen (xx:45)
5. kill mites nearing starting area (xx:50)
6. Tag haze event
7. tag champ dust twister
8. Head to skritt queen for the finish.

There is 80 geodes in 20 minutes. Rinse and repeat every hour, do something else when there is no sandstorm.

Whoever designed the siege disabler doesn’t play WvW much. All the current counterplay to siege was perfectly fine with the sole exception of golem rushes.

If someone builds 6 arrow carts to cover the gate at hills they deserve for it to be a tough nut to crack. If someone builds 6 superior rams on a paper gate they deserve to get inside in 25 seconds.

The siege disabler will turn WvW into trebwars 2 since you can’t use rams on gates anymore.

I plan on buying these tricks up and showing why.

It’s no different than trying to burn down a gate while people repair it.

You won’t get in until the castle/tower/keep is out of supply. Once you are out of supply you can’t throw anymore traps and the gate comes down.

Seige Golem mastery has been known for a while, but there is also the introduction of the Seige disabler trick.

“This item consumes supply on use, just like the existing WvW traps, but unlike traps, the Siege Disabler is thrown like a grenade. Upon landing, it discharges and temporarily disables all enemy siege weapons within a radius of 450 for 45 seconds. Disabled weapons can’t be used for the duration of the effect, and any players currently manning siege weapons will be forced off them.”

Thoughts?

I think this is a nice counter play for siege, though I want to see it in practice before making a final call.

SAB… worst thing to ever happen to this game, couldn’t be happier it’s gone.

FOV and 1st person view… waste of resources, not a good use of time, not how the game was meant to be played.

Commander tags… player speculation with no hard facts… about par for the course for players. I’ll withhold judgement until you know… Anet actually announces the feature.

Precursor crafting… You win on that one, Anet has really dropped the ball here.

Player crafted precursors will almost certainly be account bound so I don’t think any of your top arguments apply.

Additionally the low end precursors have been 1000g cheaper than the high end ones for over a year now. I fail to see why this would suddenly make people want to craft the low end ones. They aren’t crafted because they are either crappy weapons that no profession use (underwater weapons) or they are stupidly ugly and no one wants them.

I do think the high end precursors will fall, but I think it will be the middle tier ones that rise in price, with little effect on the low end ons.

People seem to be conveniently ignoring all the PvP focus that this game has gotten. They make it sound like PvP is some ignored aspect of the game that is finally getting attention… Lets put some perspective on this…

PvE Balance Patches: 0
PvP Balance Patches: 10

PvE Maps added since release: 2
PvP Maps added since release: 6

PvE Exclusive Armors*: None
PvP Exclusive Armors: Tribal, Hero’s, Glorious Hero’s
*ALL armors were obtainable in PvP, MUCH easier than in PvE up until 4 months ago when Anet removed that ability. Another example of Anet’s backwards priorities. They actively removed the content and ability to do this. However the majority of PvP players have already unlocked most of the PvE armor skins using that system.

This whole idea that PvP is some ignored feature of the game that is finally getting some love is absurd. PvE players would LOVE to have some balance and maps added, but all those resources go directly to PvP.

Unless something has changed you can not craft the ascended backpack without first crafting the exotic. It won’t let you interact with the necessary scavenger hunt elements until you have unlocked the exotic cultivated backpack.

I don’t have a problem with them adding new PvP rewards into the game. I don’t even care that they are exclusive to PvP.

The problem is that it took them 2 years to implement new in-game armors and they spent those precious resources on PvP which is not where the majority of players spend their time.

Additionally they are giving away $150,000 for a PvP tournament. just giving it away. That money could go into us getting us a new race, or new zones, or new weapons. But nope, it’s going to an unpopular poorly implemented part of the game. It isn’t even going to try and make PvP better, they are just trying to bribe people into playing a poorly designed unliked part of the game.

That money and those resources would have impacted many more players if it had been used to design armor for ALL aspects of the game, but it is being wasted on something that most players don’t care about.

PvE gets updates every 2 weeks and you still whine. PvP hardly gets updates. Go cry elsewhere.

Which is exactly how it should be because NO ONE ACTUALLY PVP’S IN THIS GAME.

There are currently 8-10 different dry top maps FULL of players…

It takes me 10 minutes just to find 8 players to play a single sPvP match with…

The players have spoken, the devs just aren’t listening.

Dear Anet,

Please get your head out of the clouds. This game is not an Esport and will never become one. The vast majority of people play this game for the PvE aspect of the game.

Over 3 million PvE players have been begging you for new ingame armor sets for almost 2 full years. We have gotten none.

Now you are implementing a PvP armor set that can only be obtained by winning tournaments in tPvP mode? There are currently <1000 players who actively participate in tPvP.

3,000,000 > 1000. Please re-evaluate your priorities.

Side Note: This Scavenger hunt and multiple game aspects of the backpack is one of the best additions to the game since launch. Please do many more things like it. If people don’t want to play the game then they don’t have to get the backpack.

Another vote for SAB. Don’t need World 3, just exactly as it was, and ideally permanent. (obviously world 3 and 4 and the red and purple SAB skins would be awesome though).

As for the people who are asking for it not to be turned on, or for no rewards… why? It’s already made. Why would you want to deny people fun just because you don’t enjoy something?

Because that’s not how the world works. “Turning it on” takes time, resources and money that are desperately needed in other parts of the game. Your request actively makes my experience worse.

Why are you trying to deny me the game that I purchased as advertised for some 8-bit mini game?

I love this backpiece. It pulls aspects from all parts of the game, combines them with a scavenger hunt and a gold sink and makes a great looking unique skin.

Anet needs to do more things like this! I hope precursor crafting is similar.

I have instead pet seedling, after combining cultivated seed with mists infused clay pot… it keeps showing me to go to mount maelstrom, but when i get there nothing happens :/

All you did was give the dragon a poke in the eye. You certainly didn’t kill it.

Also it only took 5 people (destiny’s edge) to almost kill an elder dragon, why is it so unbelievable that 1 person can’t take on a small time minion of an elder dragon?

As soon as you make it you get the skin, so you no longer need it.

The upgrade comes from the “cultivated seed” that you receive when you make the back piece. You will need that item to upgrade to T2, you however do NOT need the T1 backpack.

What annoys me about this patch is Anets lame attempt to “equalize” all builds by using timed immunities.

I specced into damage to finish fights faster, not sit there and stare at the boss being immune 90% of the time.

Items should be available at all tiers so a few people can get them, even if they are essentially soloing the events.

I agree. It may not be a problem right now, but it’s slowly going to become one.

All items are available by T3 aren’t they? I think you can get to T3 with like 10 people on the map. Maybe even less after this patch.

How are they officially late when there is no official time of release other than Tuesday 8/12/14 Pacific Time? If they put the patch out at 11:59:59PM Pacific Time today then they are technically on time.

well ok I guess unofficially late. They have released like 14 out of the last 20 patches at 12:00 PDT, which was an hour ago.

You should know by now there is never a set time during that day for the patch. It can come as early or as late in the day as they feel is proper.

People say this, but it pretty much always comes around noon pst unless something goes horribly wrong.

Expect the patch in about an hour barring anything going horribly wrong.

T6? I’m lucky nowadays to get on a map with T3. Better get these ingredients while the content is hot and people are willing to push it to that tier.

They add additional events with the addition to each tier. This means that the lower tiers are subsequently easier to obtain.

Those maps that could only get T3, will now be able to easily get T4 due to the added events. You need a set number of event completions for each tier.

So you should be rejoicing instead of complaining.

I would advise you to keep at LEAST 50 bricks/stars/ingots on hand. That is equivalent to 5000 of each mat. They will almost certainly be used in significant quantity for precursor crafting and new legendary items.

At the very least, I will be back here to tell you to stop whining that you deleted them and it isn’t fair in 6 months when you are short.

Any need to create the back piece twice?

Well we already know it will be upgradeable, the only question is if the stats will upgrade or just the skin. I imagine it will become ascended eventually and have selectable stats.

If it can ultimately be upgraded to different versions then more than 1 will be useful, otherwise no need.

So at least until tomorrow it is more of a wait and see.
