We are already working on a fix for this event chain. In the mean time, please report players that are being overly toxic (chat) during these events for “Verbal Abuse” as this is a violation of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct.
I wonder if Anet will ever learn that it is them who are making the toxic environment…
Players want to farm. It will continue until you either:
A. Ban every player in the game and shut down the game
B. Remove every mob in the gameMaybe figure out what players want and give it to them instead of trying to rule your game with an iron fist of depression.
Farming isn’t really the issue. Abusing people who want to finish events is the issue. If farmers accepted the fact that some people actually like to play the game as intended, there wouldn’t be a problem. The problem exists because farmers feel like they own the event. They don’t.
Anet has said no one should ever feel bad about finishing an event. And that is the proverbial that.
So the 50+ farmers don’t own the event, but the 1 person who wants to finish it and ruin the gameplay experience of 50 people somehow owns it?
That makes no sense at all. The event was meant to be failed, or it wouldn’t have a failure condition. It didn’t randomly grow a failure condition, Anet implemented it, coded it, and expected it to be failed.

that much huh… hardcore farming it is! XD i’m not into the “min-max” actually, it’s just good to see when you have the “end game” infusions on your “end game” items.
It should be noted that when you link the items in chat the infusions will not show up. You will be the only one who knows you have them.
There are a coupler factors that need to be considered:
1. Does the number of people who reroll light armor characters to farm completely offset the decrease in drops from medium and heavy armor classes? I suspect probably not.
2. Does this effect level 80 characters? OR, does this change effect level 80 gear. It may be tied to the gear, not the character level. i.e. level 80 drops stay the same, but drops from low level zones are skewed.
3. How will this impact lower tiers of cloth? cotton and wool are both mostly generated from people leveling new characters I suspect. This could have a bigger impact on those materials than the higher tiers.
The intent of the Renown Heart system was originally to help players find event content. They also provide a decent method for us to give the player some context and awareness of what’s going on in the area. There are probably a few issues in that design which we could discuss. We could also let it suffice to say that hearts do not make the best repeatable content the game has to offer.
On the topic of keeping players engaged with open world content, I think this goal may be for more approachable from a different angle. Consider Dry Top, which has no hearts. Players on that map are participating in events all the time, largely on the premise that each event contributes to both map-level and personal-level goals. This gives me the notion that with a little help at the system level, events can and should be the bulk of repeatable open world content in Tyria.
I’d be very interested in hearing your thoughts on that.
I agree with the dry top approach. The zone wide event is a lot of fun, and gives personal and group goals to the whole map.
If you could implement something like this in all new zones (hint hint) I think it would be great progress over the heart idea.
After you add 5+ zones with zones like this you could add a daily to help people focus in on a specific map, or give bonus progress to a certain map every day.
They won’t get mega paid, if anything the price of cloth will drop to be inline with leather and mithril (as cloth users will get their own cloth now and not have to buy). Look at the disparity in costs with crafting cloth ascended versus leather or plate, its silly high. I hope this change will balance it.
This argumentation ignores the current ascended recipes:
- Crafting Light Armor need mostly clothes and a bit leather.
- Crafting Medium Armor needs mostly clothes and a bit leather.
- Crafting Heavy Armor needs mostly clothes and a bit steel.
Everyone needs mostly clothes to build his armor, but only cloth-weares get it.
Yes but it is the quantities that matter, the non clothies need far less cloth. I have crafted all 3 types of ascended and the difference in cost is huge.
“very little” meaning 7,500 silk scraps, 1000 linen scraps, 1000 wool scraps, and 500 cotton scraps.
You have a very odd definition of “very little”
I get about 100 silk a day, playing 3 hours a day. that is 75 days of playing just for the silk under current conditions. Imagine if you can’t get silk drops… it could take you a full year to get enough silk.
As a side note… has anyone ever actually equipped a drop before?
I’ve looted probably 10,000 armor pieces, I don’t think i’ve ever equipped a single one.
Does Anet actually think people do this?
The solution is to just lock in the tiers using the rankings as of the WvW announcement. The next few weeks just shouldn’t count.
I think instead of trying to stop the profession loot change we should be instead petitioning for a rebalance of the ascended gear acquisition.
Introduce medium and heavy armor inscriptions to replace the light armor inscriptions currently used for ALL ascended armor. Medium armor wearers should use leather to craft their armor, and heavy armor wearers should use metal to craft their armor.
Currently you need more silk than mithril to craft a set of heavy ascended armor, that is the core issue here, not the profession loot.
Sounds like a great change to me!
(disclaimer: I have all light armor classes)
Pray to whatever deity you worship you don’t ever need my Mithril for an ascended weapon… (oh who am I kidding, no one is ever going to need Mithril)
I can mine mithril…
Sounds like a great change to me!
(disclaimer: I have all light armor classes)
New blog post up!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/crafting-backpacks-new-leveling-items-and-more/
Summary:
1. unique powerful leveling items added
2. Crafting backbacks to teach you to craft and provide unique skin for each crafting profession
3. Medium armor wearers no longer get access to silk or ori, and are doomed to be poor forever.
If you don’t want to be kicked then don’t join speed runs with your sup-par build and your lack of experience.
Make your own group and specify you want a slow inexperienced casual run.
i love the jerks who instantly assume im joining parties that im unqualified for when i clearly said these concerns are about being the opener
1. Party creator and instance owner are two separate things. They have no relation to each other at all.
2. I find it very interesting that you have such a problem with getting kicked. Maybe the problem is that you go around calling people jerks? Try being nicer and you may not get kicked as often. I have pugged 7 dungeons a day (AC 123,SE 13, CF 1,2) almost every day for the last year. I think I have over 1000 dungeon runs. I have never once been kicked.
Yep the only difference is that versatile can be slotted into defencive slots as well as offensive slots.
To slot 6 versatile mighty infusions into your armor will cost you ~1200g currently for a total of +30 power.
I don’t have anything agaisnt this suggestion, but I would much rather they make the more major TP changes first.
Armor weight sort
Relocate the items to correct categories
remove categories that haven’t been used since beta
Reduce “error attempting to sell” frequency
make the front page show useful information
More filters
Buy and sale history info displayed
I could go on, but there are a lot of things I think take higher priority.
I don’t understand why this needs “fixing?” How often do you people get kicked from parties? Go in, do dungeon, get tokens. Easy
I know right. I can’t even fathom how terrible you would need to be to get kicked.
The only time I have ever kicked someone or seem anyone kicked was this ranger who did not talk to us and would just run in circles by the entrance and do nothing else. After we cleared half the dungeon with 4 people, we gave up trying to get him to join us and kicked him.
What are you guys doing? running nomad’s gear and trying to face tank the boss by kiting him around? lol
So the changes that are coming with the “feature” patch are all great, long asked for QoL changes, but they aren’t features.
PvP Tourney’s are already in the game, not a new feature
Balance changes should be coming every week, also not a feature
UI updates are a good QoL change, but not a feature.
3 palette swaps on commander tags are a good start, but a lunch break QoL change
Dungeon ownership, a bug from launch that is finally getting fixed, not a feature.
So i’m just wondering if any new features are coming this patch? Precursor crafting? New races? new skills? new professions? new crafting skills? New game modes?
I love the changes we are getting, but they would be better labeled as “QoL” patches instead of “feature” patches. When you say feature patch and then only deliver QoL changes you get players really frustrated and angry, thus leading to the current state of the forums.
Perhaps renaming the patches to more accurately reflect what they are would help keep peoples expectations in line. I know most of my guild is very disappointed with what has been announced, even though all the changes were things they wanted, because they were expecting new features, so now the things they wanted are disappointments to them. And judging by the rest of the forum this isn’t an uncommon occurrence.
If you don’t want to be kicked then don’t join speed runs with your sup-par build and your lack of experience.
Make your own group and specify you want a slow inexperienced casual run.
Remember, kicking someone in order to replace them at the end of the instance is an account bannable offense.
This feature will allow you to kick an arah seller once or twice, and will result in you having to buy a new account and start from level 1 if he decides to report you.
Are you saying that low level players in WvW SHOULD have all their stats set to 3000 and be able to kill an entire lvl 80 zerg?
The problem isn’t even limited to the stacking problem.
Even solo, a condition player can do a maximum of ~8500dps. This is assuming 100% uptime of all conditions and 100% uptime of might and 25 sigil stacks.
A power build (Warrior, ele, guard, thief, ranger) can reach 11k dps with a standard rotation. (engineer mesmer and power necros top out at around 9500dps).
This is due to conditions inability to crit and the lack of a zerker equivalent gear set, combined with the 100% duration cap and the stack limit. SO even solo, you are still worse than a power build in about 90% of the situations. There are a few high armor bosses that can actually be killed faster by conditions, but they account for about 2% of the game.
Conditions really just need a complete overhaul, there is no quick fix.
Don’t expect any dungeon focused changes. The devs recently stated that dungeons are not something they like and they have no plans of working on dungeons anymore except for bug fixes if they pop up.
My current count is as follows:
1. Anet chooses: 56
2. We choose: 25
3. Anet gives us a list and we choose from there: 30
I only counted clear votes. If you posted 10 paragraphs you didn’t get counted, I don’t have time to read all that just to hunt for your vote.
Feel free to recount, and compare to my count.
I don’t understand how a scavenger hunt/crafting that cost 600g and took a week to make is any less legendary than buying it off the TP for 700g.
Heck, there are half a dozen precursors on the TP right now that you can buy for <200g.
Anet chooses. I’ve found if we pick a topic that Anet doesn’t think should be the focus, we end up spending more time fighting Anet to get something instead of making progress.
You tell us what is going to get worked on and we will tell you how we want it done.
I think this would be a positive thing. It would allow the players to know what the devs currently think are the most important issues in GW2, i.e. what is most likely to be worked on, and allow the players to use those points to guide their feedback and suggestions.
It obviously won’t satisfy everyone, but I think it is a step in the right direction. A good compromise after all is one in which no one is happy with the result.
Dude, it’s a HUGE buff. It changes a ton for the Elementalist. We can actually use on-elite runes now, with these new activated elite abilities for Elemental pets.
That’s not how that works.
They trigger on the summon, not on the skill use. At least for necro that’s how it works.
The difference is that we used to have hope they were working on things and the game would improve. The last few weeks have killed that hope when they came out and said they:
1. Were no longer working on festivals and they would not be returning for 6+ months
2. They are no longer working on dungeons and no new dungeons will be added for 1+ years.
3. Most of their devs work on the chinese release and have not been developing content so there is no real content coming for a while.
It’s very hard to stay positive in light of those recent announcements.
Colin, thanks for taking the time to respond.
If you could work out some way to make a blog post about high level things you are working on it would be a big step in the right direction.
I think the problem many players are having right now is that the game feels lost without direction. No one knows where the game is headed or what is happening. It feels to us like the only things being worked on are gem store items and the LS. the feature patches sound big and impressive but have so far only been small changes, or changes in parts of the game people weren’t asking for.
Keep your expectations low for this feature patch.
From what they have revealed so far it’s about forcing e-sports into this game.I wouldn’t expect any new areas/dungeons/skins unless they are coming attached to Living Story or Gemstore patches.
That is what people said for the last feature patch…
what is the point of feature patches if they never bring new desirable features to the game???
What that folks who don’t see value in something are probably better of not partaking in it?
I think that’s a pretty reasonable statement isn’t it that applies to many things. here is an example I don’t like getting involved in political discussions but I don’t berate or judge folks for doing so.
Kudos for your attempt at sharp wit though (-:
Chris
It was more a comment on the fact that it was imo a legitimate concern that was dismissed outright.
The CDI produced a number of good ideas. There was 8 months of development time and all that we got out of it was a switch from the word “soul bound” to “account bound” and a palette swap. That is something even a novice programmer could do over his lunch break on a Friday afternoon, yet it is all we are being given after 8 months of waiting.
Imo a more appropriate response would have been any of the following:
1. I’m not sure why this took so long I will find out and get back to you (and actually get back to him)
2. We couldn’t do any of those things because of x, but they aren’t off the table if we can get them to work.
and a less appealing response but still better:
3. We can’t go into details about that and it probably isn’t something that will happen
4. We can’t go into details about that but something is in the works.
The CDI worked in the the sense that it produced many good, feasible ideas to take to the devs. It worked in the fact that the first time around you did a very good job of communicating. But something happened. Only the very easiest, simple to code suggestions were brought to us. The rest got lost in the void somewhere. We have heard nothing for 8+ months, we are anxious and worried about the game.
The LS was a huge improvement over season 1, and I think that was in fact partly due to the CDI and player feedback. But it seems that ONLY things related to the LS or the gemstore are being taken into consideration. Any suggestion for other parts of the game are simply being thrown away, at least from my point of view. And it simply isn’t very helpful to the attitudes and frustration of players to tell them to just not participate if they don’t like the results.
The feedback on the results of round 1 is just as important as the feedback itself.
The funny thing is that the people defending Anet always fall back to their subject to change line… They line actually reads:
“as always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.”
The line does NOT read: "as always, the TIMING above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.
They never anywhere stated that the timing of these features were subject to change, only the actual content of the features. You guys love arguing semantics, so maybe you should pay more attention to them.
Didn’t you get the memo, this is a PvP focused ESport game!
If you disagree then Anet wants you to leave.
Two different games run by two different companies… they are not sharing any kinda profits. the connection to NCSoft doesn’t mean anything except that BOTH games generate revenue to NCSoft. You should read up on how Publishing Companies work.
All I know is that we went from Anet being open about their future plans with big plans and lots of new features to…
Morning All,
You asked me to be honest so I am going to be. I am starting to feel like doing another CDI just isn’t worth the frustration, huge amount of time and heartache.
As i have said many many times before getting the logistics around communication right is extremely important. Time is precious and anything that can be done to make every second more valuable is paramount. Any time a developer spends on CDI is time away from the game. The benefit however is huge in terms of the products evolution so it is an extremely difficult balancing act.
Chris
And:
My advice to you then would be to not get involved in the next round of CDIs.
Chris
I.E…. if your feedback doesn’t align with what we are already planning and want to do then we don’t care and leave.
Mr. Whiteside, I have a question.
Do you remember the Commander CDI 1 year ago? Why we got only 3 more colors out of it? I love the idea of CDI, but after this I wonder if the community’s time and effort are wasted…
Or maybe the big improvements to the commander system are yet to come?
Do you?
The main things that came out of that CDI was different colors for tags and account-bound tags.
Both which we are getting now.
Wrong. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Collaborative-Development-Commander-System/page/14
Commander Visibility
More options for the Color/Shape of the tag itself. This could be tied to functionality or rank of commanders but mainly targeted around organization.
Removal of buff display to enemies. As well as we should avoid doing skills/abilities that highlight the commander to enemies.
Ability to limit visibility to a sub group, party, guild, ect..
Tag sizing. (I debate this a bit as when you auto size the tag you can often lose the ability to see how far away something is but it was brought up a lot so listing it here)
Add squads to LFG system.Commander Tools
More detailed supply info that’s always up. (Increased radius)
Ability to create sub roles within a squad.
Current squad tools are rarely used.
Seems to be some debates on buffs to followers, but there is a lot of good examples of ways to do that.
Squad size needs to be increased.
Ability to group up parties or other commanders to form different squad organization.
Improved chat suppression for commanders
Commander announcements (yellow text across the screen)
Open/Closing Squad toolsCommander gating
Current 100g gate isn’t the cleanest gate. (Whole goal behind a gate is to limit the number of commanders out there.
Gating using WvW abilities seems to have some debate to it, but seems like something we should avoid.
Account bound commander tags vs character bound. This wasn’t even half of the suggestions in that thread either. The fact that Anet paid it’s WvW team (if there is one anymore) for 8+ months to add different colors to Commander Tags and make them Account-Bound is baffling. Yes, i know, they also worked on EotM, and Golem Mastery, and Siege Disabler, but EotM came out in February 2014. That’s 7 months for Golem Mastery and Siege Disabler?
So yes, i agree with Chris Whiteside, and it’s not worth the frustration when player’s suggestions are ignored. And yes, they were ignored and weren’t implemented.
Hi Nexxe,
My advice to you then would be to not get involved in the next round of CDIs.
Chris
Well that pretty much sums up Anet doesn’t it lol.
All those Gem Store sales funded Wildstar, which is already failing in it’s 1st month. lol.
That game had some great ideas, they just made the mistake of bringing along the bad along with the good.
I fear you are right that they took either all the devs or all the money to fund that game.
It feels like they have very limited resources, and for better or for worse have decided that living world updates are the place to put them all. All these comments they keep making amount to “no new content outside the living world.”
I just don’t understand it. I mean they supposedly had over 300 staff. The LS has been nice this season, but no where near what I would expect from 300 employees. Maybe 50…
What are the other 250 people doing?
I’m curious about what has happened at Anet? Has the funding been cut off? Is the money being diverted? was most of the staff laid off?
I just can’t understand the current direction of the game. In the first year we saw a new map, a half dozen PvP maps, big WvW changes, introduction of fractals, a new gear tier, guild missions, dungeon revamps, a new dungeon, updates to 6 of the 8 crafting profession, multiple festivals, and a LS.
However since the start of 2014 it seems like nothing is being developed anymore and things are being removed instead.
In 2014 we have removed PvP rewards, removed servers, removed traits, told that most festivals aren’t coming back (SAB, Dragon Bash), told that dungeons are too hard to make and are being abandoned, no new systems, no new PvP maps, 6 months to add a single WvW trait line, no new armor, abandoning the last 2 crafting professions, no new legendary weapons, no expansion announcement.
What’s up? Has the game been officially abandoned by NCSoft?
Anet: We Absolutely WILL do this!*
*We probably won’t
But hey it works apparently… you have 4 people defending Anet like their very lives depend on it.
You post seems to be a week early.
Maybe hold off until we see what the new PvE feature part of the feature patch holds and then make a judgment.
For me at least this is their last chance to show they are actually working on PvE content and not just smoke and mirrors. If next week doesn’t have some hefty PvE content then I am inclined to agree with you.
Well at least now I can not bother to even unlock the skill. Saves me a bunch of SP’s.
Will we see the schedule for the week 2 blogs today? I figured since there was no other feature patch blog this would unlock today.
Just curious, I am looking forward to the blog titles and speculation.
It’s funny that even after the devs specifically came out and said that it was not an exploit the only defense the griefers have for their actions is that it was an exploit.
What should of happened is that the griefers should have been banned, end of story.
While I appreciate the attempt, the bottom line is that your current company policy is unacceptable to me and many other players.
If you want to keep players interested in the game then we need to know what your long term goals are. The roadmap was a great idea with some small flaws. I would stronly suggest you go back to the roadmap approach and modify it to use less strong language. Instead of: “You WILL see precursor crafting and new legendary weapons in 2013” try: “We are working on precursor crafting and new legendaries and will update you with more information as we get closer”.
Then when you do get closer LET US KNOW. SHARE with us some concept art for new weapons, get players feedback BEFORE you release them.
Any player in the game could have told you that 300g per commander tag was unacceptable, but your lack of communication with the player base left you scrambling at the last minute and working weekends for something that could have been avoided by talking to the community for 30 seconds.
Does this mean the CDI will be starting back up? It looks like this feature pack will bring some of the things discussed in the last CDI.
Can we get some update on long promised features as well? Precursor crafting, new legendary weapons, legendary trinkets, 500 cooking, 500 jewelcrafting?
I do not get it they are going to get cough at the end of the day and pay a high price for what being annoying?
There is no punishment, there is no way to catch them that isn’t cost prohibitive for the FBI.
Only way to stop it is to backtrace it and send someone with a hammer to his house.
Just like most hackers they just want to hack because they get a power trip from it. It makes them feel like they have power and control over anything and they can do as they please. LizardSquad is even verbally calling out the FBI on Twitter. All I can say is good luck with that. Bunch of idiots.
Either the FBI doesn’t care or they can’t do anything about it. These attacks happen all the time, but when was the last time you heard about an arrest?
Gotta track them down yourself if you want something done about it.
/join squad will get rid of every tag except the one you joined.
