Play how you want guys, except when you get good loot!
Play how you want guys, except don’t exploit.
It’s not exploiting. This exact same thing happened before, and all ANet did was make it so loot doesn’t drop from mobs so that people would want to complete the event instead. No bans, no big speech about how it was an exploit. It’s not an exploit to not complete an event.
PURPOSELY not completing events is also not as intended, which, loosely is defined as an exploit.
Could you point this out in the rules? I’ve read them and I can’t find anywhere that says I am required to successfully complete an event, or event try to complete an event. Am I exploiting every time I run past a timed event? By your definition I am purposefully letting it fail by not stopping what i’m doing to complete it. In fact you’ve probably done that before, you should probably be banned too.
Play how you want guys, except when you get good loot!
Play how you want guys, except don’t exploit.
I’ve read all the rules and I can’t find the one that says I am required to successfully complete events. I can’t even find one that says I can’t use standard game tactics and rules specifically implemented by the devs to gain loot.
The devs said that for every champion I kill I will get a loot bag. So I found a place where champions spawn and I kill them. The event is immaterial to me, I am not attempting to complete it at all. So I’m “exploiting” because an event going on in the same place I am happens to fail?
The only people I see at fault here are the ones who are breaking the rules and they should be banned. It is against the rules to threaten people, so any farmers doing that should be banned, and it is against the rules to harass players, so any anti-farmers who specifically go out of their way to stop farmers (a perfectly legal and acceptable behavior) should also be banned.
A surprisingly large number of gem store suggestions have been implemented. There is the thread over in the black lion trading forum section. I’d say about half of what we’ve seen in the gemstore over the last 6 months originated from that thread.
I highly doubt they added a whole new material just to create one set of armor. The quartz will almost certainly be used in large quantities for ascended gear of all kinds. They came straight out and told us it would use multiple time gated resources… ie. quartz.
I also suspect we will see some time gated use for watchwork sprockets as well. They drop in the open world rarely now, and will almost certainly continue to do so after the event.
Awesome guide. I will probably be modifying my build more towards this one now. I loved the video.
She is also theorized to be the one behind the dredge and flame legion alliance.
That’s the standard symbol for portals that are deactivated due to various reasons ingame. It means they shut down access to the portal momentarily, probably switching from one overflow to the next or something.
Flame and frost dyes! Although I can imagine the dozen owners of these dyes on the TP will get in a radge when their 100g dyes are worth a fraction.
serious investors either already sold them for 10000% profit or will continue to hold them until the prices rise back up. Personally I cashed out already, made a tidy profit.
I wonder if the holiday weapons will come back. That would be interesting…
All this money made and we got nothing in return but more gem store items, awesome.
Yeah I know right…
Ember farming is exactly what GW2 needed, it promotes getting a group together to do events. What Arenanet need to do now is tweak it so that it’s more beneficial to complete the event.
Co-ordinating an event chain is way better than waypointing from champ to champ, if you removed the incentives for doing events like ember then all you are left with are waypoint farming.
I’d much rather do event chains than farming a champ rotation.
I just want to point out, we agree. The game is more fun and exciting when defeating things and working together with other players is rewarding. Champions have always been an issue in this area, and it’s why we addressed it, we’re continuing to pursue other areas in the game in upcoming releases as well.
That being said: the behavior we want is people join up together to play events, but they want to succeed those events and win them, we never want to be in a state where intentionally failing an event is more rewarding or better for players. We’re not going to take a giant hammer to champion loot, we love it and love seeing people joining together to do events. We do want to make succeeding events what the game is about. We also do want to make some events in the future even more challenging, and in return more rewarding for succeeding.
You will see changes over time to help directly encourage players to always want to try and succeed events, we don’t ever want to create conflict between players who want to progress an event chain, and those who want to fail it. It’s bad for the game and not what Gw2 is all about.
Does this mean the champ trains not associated with events are going to be nerfed? I personally would love to see a shift more towards events instead of the WP champ farms.
I’ve been doing the QP and I don’t see where people are claiming to get all this money from. The big bad simply gives me a boat load of greens that are worth nothing, some gear currency, a tube of karma and that’s it. I’m not seeing the vets around them dropping anything other than some T5/T6 mats whose prices have plummeted. Where’s all the “good” loot people are claiming that they are raking in?
QP<Cursed Shore<Frostgorge<Ember<Gauntlet
QP is the worst of the current “best” farms. In general i’ve found I get the following:
4g/hr<6g/hr<8g/hr<12g/hr<18g/hr
It depends on zerg size, no trolls, and for gauntlet sufficient skill.
Median is pretty worthless in this case. If 70% of the players made 2g but the other 30% made 10,000 gold then you’ve still introduced a huge amount of gold into the economy and caused significant inflation even though the median is only 2g.
Average would be much more meaningful, but of course you can’t give that due to the massive number it would be and the panic and fear of inflation it would cause…
In another month when ascended armor is released these will be worthless. Anyone buying or selling them is just playing the market imo. The fact that it takes 20 days to craft and will almost certainly be worthless in 20 days makes them pretty unappealing.
The average player has only made 3g during the entire event so far. And that is only counting those who made more than 1g.
The number of people farming this is very very small because the number of people skilled enough to do so is very very small.
I don’t know if this in intended or a bug but I figured I’d post it here and get peoples opinions.
When the floor drops out the mesh panels swing down but the metal frame stays intact. You can in fact balance on those beams until the floor reattaches and then continue your fight for as long as necessary to complete it. I saw a guardian do it today… took him 9 minutes but he finally killed subject 7…
Since this event launched i’ve made 300g of pure cash and another 200g from selling crap.
This is with very casual play (3 hours a day) I plan on making another 500g over the weekend since I have time to play.
These claims seem so exaggerated, even with full MF and boosts, you’re lucky to make 5g an hour farming pavillion, how can you make nearly 500g at that rate.
Methinks a lot of people are making bold claims and exaggerating heavily on their profitability.
Or a lot of people abused that T3 boss bug very very badly.
Since the nerf I can only make about 15g/hr but before the nerf I was making 20g/hr.
In the original pavilion before the centaur nerf I made 50g, though I don’t remember over what amount of time that was.
Gold is really easy to get with this new content. Champ farming is for chumps.

The key now is to farm enough gold to overcome whatever gold sink they will be adding now.
Clearly the dyes weren’t that rare since they kept a stable 3-15g (depending on dye) during the actual event. It wasn’t until the event ended and people realized there was no method to obtain them did the price go up by a factor of 50+
Well this is certainly getting more interesting….
I LOVE the poem they’ve sent out, mysterious, terrifying, and fun.
Tick tock goes the clock
It’s almost time for time to stop
Something you all must understand
Your world is built on fog and sand
You’re out of time, your jig is done
It’s time for Scarlet to have her fun
She has some hard lessons to teach
To the people of Divinity’s Reach
So mark the date in permanent ink
The hour is later than you think
On the twentieth day she’ll start her games
And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
However I will say that players with higher AP’s will on average be better players. They are more likely to know mechanics, know their class and have spent time learning the game. There will always be exceptions, but on average I find that players with >5k AP’s are much easier to play with then those with <1k AP’s.
The only time I bother to undercut (or sell directly to buy orders) is on markets that are either crashing or poised to crash. I sold like 100 large fangs to buy orders this week due to the obvious downward plunge they were taking.
If it is a stable market just sell it at the current price, it will sell within 24 hours almost 100% of the time. Unless it is an item worth more than 5g or so, then it might take longer.
People don’t just vendor those? Why?
Who would ever buy one of those off the TP? (OP excluded)
the problem with AP is that i’ve earned more points from clicking on laurel vendors then I have from getting a legendary or getting dungeon master.
“I’m being punished for” this..
“I’m being punished for” that..
Quite a popular phrase here in the GW2 community.
you’d think anet would stop punishing us… guess they are slow learners or just don’t care.
In PvE you run berserker unless you can’t dodge, are too lazy to learn encounters and want a crutch instead.
… thanks for illustrating my point. “There is only one way to play this game, and it’s my way, and if you don’t do it my way you are bad.”
What if you don’t want or like to be a glass cannon? Whatever happened to “play the way you want”? Whatever happened to the claim that getting rid of the oh-so-terrible-and-restrictive trinity would make for a richer, deeper and more diverse game? Instead of three distinctive and equally important roles, all we have now is glass cannon “zerker” or go home?
It’s a sad joke.
Deep, rich diverse gameplay went out the window when they failed to replace the trinity. It’s like they thought the trinity was there just for the heck of it. In fact it served a very important role in bringing depth to the combat and making a multitude of build varieties possible. Without some sort of replacement we are stuck with MOAR DPS until it dies. Anyone that is not in zerker (rabid/carrion for condition builds) gear just needs to learn to play better until they can use zerker (rabid/carrion) gear.
This makes grinding the only real solution to keep people interested in the game because the normal forms of progression through raids and learning encounters are trivialized by being able to dodge and zerker gear.
And what will happen with people that deleted theyr oldest character becose they do not enjoyed them? I have bought pre-order of GW2 and played since the first day of game relase. Do i get nothing?
I’m in the same boat as Ves, also pre-ordered the digital deluxe version, and since the first day of launch made and deleted a lot of characters. Now none of the characters i made at launch exsist anymore.. so am i screwed? i dearly hope the birthday gifts count according to how old the account is and not the character.
Aaand same with me too, i’ve already deleted the first 3 characters i ever made, about half a year ago. The gift is for each character btw, at least that’s what i read… But after reading what the gifts would be, i don’t feel so bad actually.
actually its only one gift, a mini queen jennah and quite a pathetic one gift for a birthday… i expected more =/.. oh yeah scrolls and birthday exp booster but thats nothing.. how about some gems to spend on my birthday?
ENNNNNTITLEDDDDDDDD.
LOL!!! who isnt entitlted to a birthday gift worthy of being called a BIRTHDAY gift?? tell me! and while you’re at it tell me if one stinkin queen jennah minipet plus some petty boosters are worthy of being a birthday gift? =)
so when your grandma gave you socks for your birthday, or when your bestfriend gave you a hand-made (but monetarily worthless) birthday card, you kittened at them?
Yes, entitled much.
What sort of crap grandma gives you socks for your B-day?
I will still remain friends with them but you won’t see me spending anything on their birthday’s (gemstore) if that’s the best they can do.
well the new portal only works about 20% of the time… so I guess we can give memsers a movement buff that randomly works 20% of the time?
deadeye’s killshot seems to be random aswell.
Also, his mines don’t seem to damage ranger pets anymore.
can any other rangers confirm this? I don’t have a ranger to test with. That would be good news for rangers though.
Still farmable with guard, mesmer and thief.
Well to add insult to injury they made birthday presents all the same and account bound so that alts get shafted on birthday presents as well…
At least they are consistent.
Did they get shafted because they didn’t do the same thing as they did in GW1, where having a maximum stable of alts JUST for birthday gifts was kind of the norm, and some of the greens could sell for insane prices while others you had to give away because nobody wanted them?
Cause I can live without “Giving away Jungle Troll to a good home” and finding the guy I gave it to selling it later.
as opposed to “give away the 27 identical minis that are all the same and have no variety or purpose”?
I’ll take the former anyway.
I am trying to document REAL changes that were implemented in the recent patch. There are no conspiracies, and no comments on devs. I am trying to make people aware of the changes that were implemented into the game. I will continue to make this thread until the changes are properly documented and players are made aware, thank you.
Changes:
Deadeye:
- engages immediately upon entering the arena
-quaggan engages immediately upon entering the arena when using crowd favorite gambit
-teleports on a much shorter cooldown
- teleport location is now random
Please keep this discussion on topic and allow for players to understand the changes that were implemented.
Anet is attempting to hide the changes implemented in the latest patch. This is a constructive thread to convince Anet to be honest and stop lying to its player base.
Please post all the changes Anet is attempting to hide in this thread.
Changes to Deadeye:
-Instant headshot upon entering the arena, combat starts right away
-Crowd Favorite gamkittenange to have the second fighter immediately charge you upon entering arena
- Deadeye time between teleport decreased significantly
- Deadeye teleport rotation changed to be random.
Please keep it constructive to prevent deletion.
Well I got my 400g from this, but they could at least be honest in the patch notes…
Well to add insult to injury they made birthday presents all the same and account bound so that alts get shafted on birthday presents as well…

Frankly, unless she announces the pursuit of a new elder dragon it will be a waste of time.
These fragmented, in-cohesive, endless festival updates wore themselves out about 2 months ago. Time to move on with the real story.
I can’t wait to see how many people actually play the game for once. I am going to need to do some major graphics tweaking though.
Am I the only one who doesnt get real rewards from champs?
I got one exotic and probably 2 rares from this whole week and I killed champions on that pavillion almost everyday (well, they are legendaries, but you got my point).
In DGs, I killed some champions and didnt get anything at all….
but then again, this week I mystic forged my Colossus, so is it god just compensating?
They don’t give an exotic every time. I found you get 1 exotic about every 100 bags.
They are easy to farm, i’ve opened about 400 bags so far. If you are just killing 2 champs every 10 minutes in the pavillion then you don’t have much of a sample size.
What I think they should do, if possible, is shift the rewards to the success of DE’s. For every champ you kill in a DE the DE reward should be increased. It could be through a bonus chest or something else, but it needs to be successfully completed and should scale. This would stop the open world non-scaling champ farming, would encourage people to do DE’s and not fail them.
The bonus chest should also be limited to say 3 bonuses a day of each DE to prevent people from just farming a single event. This would encourage people to do an event a couple times if they like it, but then spread out to do other events.
Additionally the reward should also increase based on the time since the event was last completed. An event that hasn’t been finished in 2-3 days should reward a lot more then an event that is completed every 5 minutes. This would make people spread out into the mid level zones as well and make them more rewarding.
Is this a real quote? So happy right now if it is
Yeah from here:
Ten Days of Black Lion Sales: Each day for 10 consecutive days – starting Friday, Aug. 23, at 12:01 a.m. (PT) – players will be able to purchase items and weapon skins that had limited sales during the game’s first year from the Black Lion Trading Company.
They beat you to it… time to go sell my F&F dyes…
Poor ignorant forum goers… just wait and see, this update is the first of the more permanent world changing updates. They just aren’t spoiling it yet.
Well it does save you 0.52c per use. If you salvage 50 items a day on average with a basic kit then it will only take you 18 years to recover the price of the gems.
Out of Thief, Guard, Mesmer, Warrior, and Necro:
I find the Necro to be the most fun. Their mobility is low, but watching the conditions fly and applying so many of them is a ton of fun. Fear is fun to play with, and the ability to debilitate all the enemies around you is nice for groups. There are some disadvantages, such as being useless in a group with a second necro due to poorly executed condition limitations, the low mobility makes running away impossible, and condition specs just do overall less dmg then some other classes and direct damage specs. But once you realize in the end those things don’t matter much since you can beat everything anyway, I found it the most fun.
Warrior I found probably the most boring but only because it is so ridiculously OP that there isn’t much to it. You run up to the mob hit 1 button and it almost instantly dies every time. It’s easy, you have no chance of ever dying, you do 5x more dmg then all the other classes combined, but you also fall asleep at the keyboard in my experience. I play the game to have fun so ultimately I shelved my warrior until the day they finally decide to balance them for PvE.
Profession change is one thing, but race change will NEVER happen due to the infinite amount of problems it would cause with stories, NPC conversation triggers, achievements, etc.
Johnson says yes…
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08/09/guild-wars-2-teases-anniversary-plans
Alongside the new content, Johanson explained players could expect to receive a present on their character’s birthday, as was the case in the original Guild Wars. While Guild Wars 1 saw players usually receive mini pets on character birthdays, it’s unclear just what members of Guild Wars 2’s community will be gifted.
You will receive the gift exactly one year after the creation date of your character. This is the same way it worked as in GW1. The later you made the character the longer you need to wait.
Although I’m confused by this statement. Does it mean that all characters share the same ‘birthday’ and it’ll be on the 28th? Or, does it mean that on the date the character was made/created (which kind of alienates late comers to the game, making them wait until the time in which they joined the game)? I’m sure it’s probably the former, but still curiosity peaks….
ok all my text got eaten…
You will get the present 1 year after the creation of your character. The later you made the character the later you get the gift. This is how it worked in GW1.
I’m assuming this is a bug and not a “feature” but it seems about 25% of the time that I apply torment to an enemy in PvE they are instantly cleansed of all stacks of bleeding.
I probably never would have noticed since I stack them back up so quickly along with everyone else in group, expect it started getting me killed in the gauntlet where every tick matters and it’s 1v1.
I’ve tested it multiple times, it seems to happen randomly, I can’t figure out what triggers it.
btw, does deadeye have some sort of condition cleanse?
i noticed that sometimes, when he has 20+ bleed stacks and low HP, the bleed stacks vanish when tainted shackles goes off.
Tainted Shackles seems to have a ~30% chance to cleanse all conditions on a foe in PvE.
I’m assuming it’s a bug, but you either need to open with it or not use it at all if you are condition spec.
