This was likely done because of the excessive zerging in Queensdale. You could gain levels fairly quickly.
Uh.. no. DR has been in the game for a long time, and it is supposed to combat against bots, but as per usual, it hurts actual players a lot more.
DR never affected dynamic event karma and exp before so no it never existed except for drops. If it existed before then people would not have been farming the boss events in Queensdale to level toons.
It was implemented in October of last year to combat the Plinx farmers. The threshold was set that you only really hit it when zerging events in Orr. This is the first time since they nerfed those events that you can hit enough events to hit it again.
are you guys talking about the “living random content updates”?
Unfortunately that seems to be what we are getting. The story is minimal at best.
They said this event would tie together all the other parts of the story… making every enemy we’ve seen so far come out of giant portals together doesn’t tie anything together though…
You may want to re-read and rethink your thread… you are posting about 2 completely unrelated things.
You don’t need a group for this dungeon. It’s incredibly easy. I think you can destroy the items now that you have the achievement.
You need the relay beacon to get into the dungeon, I wouldn’t destroy it. You can probably get rid of the other items though.
Also the dungeon appears to scale to group size, so you can easily do it solo if you want to.
It is rather annoying to have to stick around and do events for 45 minutes but only get karma and experience from said events for the first 15 minutes.
Is there a way we can have DR less restricted for this event? I want to participate in the whole event chain, but I get locked out of karma and experience rewards so quickly that It is better for me to just farm champs in one spawn then it is to go to other events.
GW2 is a MMO, it has to have some time-gated content to keep you playing.
Yea so I suppose fun content is out of the question then. Oy vey. ArenaNet. I give up. There are enough new and shiny things on the horizon. I don’t need this crap.
Time. Gated. Grind. Is. Not. Fun.
Edit: I suppose I could just spend some cash, buy gems, convert to gold, and get them on the Trading Post instead, without having to wait, right? And then, with my shiny new gear go do….
…what?
I’m actually starting to laugh at the absurdity of all this.
So what would you do in Anet’s position? You have a B2P game catered for casuals, about to release a set of gear which isn’t just cosmetic. You aim this to not be something people just get with ease in 2 days, so you got 3 options
1. Make it an endgame RNG-fest where theres a 1 in ten trillion chance said weapon would drop. I’m sure we’d like more of those.
2. Make it a common drop from a very hard encounter. This ends up being even more problematic as it’s rather hard to design reasonable encounters which people dont end up clearing very quickly after launch, making you resort to 1). Not FFXIV l-esque bosses that are basically impossible to kill.
3. Making the content time-gated and use it to revitalise a ton of dead features in the game such as the whole crafting system and most JPs.You say it like those are the only options.
I’d throw the tier gear in the recycle bin and make interesting content that’s skill-based and not gear-based. See Guild Wars for a good example.
They tried that… did you not see the 100000000000+ threads about how the gauntlet was too hard and it didn’t let them play “their” way (i.e. spam auto-attack) and how it sucked and they were all quitting the game….
Hate to burst your bubble, but today’s generation likes to log in and have everything handed to them via easy skill void daily activities.
These people are more than likely unaware of how the events work and scale.
In those 45 minutes of actively doing the events + the end reward for succeeding I get about 40 champ bags. I doubt staying around to kill champs and failing the event nets them anymore than that. Plus you get the 2 extra rares and the achievement for winning.
If they are just killing champs then they are the ones missing out.
I agree this was rather poor form, but overall I agree with the change. Hopefully going forward they make ALL skins tradeable on the TP. The retroactive thing kind of sucks.
I spent 100g getting the skins I wanted and now I can get them off the TP for half that.
ArenaNet has fixed and polished so much content, why are you concentrating so much on all the things they haven’t?
Because that’s the only way they can make and justify their point.
Completely ignore all the positive aspects but point out the negatives.
You see it a lot in politics (i.e. never say nice things about your opponent) and you see it here among MMO players.
…………..Whats the point on focusing positive aspects on the game, shouldnt we be focusing on the negatives so we can improve it.I don’t get your fanboy logic.
Of course we should be. But kittening and complaining about being ‘disappointed’ about not fixing the negatives is pretty short-sighted.
You expect the world out of Anet and a 100% bug-free game (go find me a bug-free game, I dare you) and fail to see that they have done a lot in QOL improvements.
I expect them to continue to fix bugs. Some take longer than others.
So what?People cant complain about stuff they are not happy about? Is that it?If I had a dead kittenroach on my plate of food and i complained about it im short-sighted.People are not allowed to complain/criticize the game?So you would want have the whole forum dedicated omg thank you Anet.Good job anet.Wow nicely done anet.Focus on the positives all they long huh.
I bet you’re one of those people who would troll on and criticize a player in sports despite him being well above average.
“Our star baseball player is getting a hit 3 times out of 10? 70% failure?! TERRIBLE PLAYER!”
There are always time for improvement, but what we have is good now. I don’t expect Anet to stop fixing bugs. If the QOL improvements started to disappear, yeah I’d get PO’d. But we have it good and I give Anet leeway. I’m not going to pick on them because they have done a good job so far.
And there is a difference between criticism and constructive criticism. All I’m seeing is pretty generic and outlandish statements (only mesmer classis good at utility? da kitten?) on how Anet is screwing up this game. That’s not constructive.
In your eyes yeah Anet does kitten well 10/10 most of the time.If they do they wouldnt have complaint threads on their forum.Only in your eyes they have done a good job so far.
I’m far from a fanboy. You may have missed my long post on the farming nerfs awhile back, where I kittened at Anet, but also provided constructive criticism, which OP has failed to do.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Very-Disappointed/first
I’m more of a ‘reasonable’ and ‘fair’ player. If this game deserves to be criticized, then I will agree with it. But if you’re biased, unreasonable or down right clueless then I will do my best to point out what’s wrong with what you wrote.
Sure what you post is considered constructive criticism, what other people post are considered unreasonable
I’m sure he’ll gladly take back that statement if you would kindly point out where the OP provides any constructive Feedback…
All I see in the OP is that 1. The OP sucks at the game. and 2. WAAA WAAA WAA fix it now because you are stupid Anet.
Vol already pointed out that the LS teams are not responsible for balance or bugs. Which pretty much nullifies everything else the OP said.
I’d post the list of bug fixes that they’ve done over the last year but since it runs into the 1000’s it would take 5 or 6 posts just to fit in the post size limit and would take hours to format…
I missed out on the first one. I’d love to see this!
I think both worlds will be available, so you will probably be able to participate in the original content as well as the new content.
At least that is how the lobby was set up last time.
All the NPC’s seem to know scarlet and know a lot more about her then I do.
What is her plan?
How does she fit into the Aetherblade and Molten Alliances?
How does she fit into the steam creatures?
Why does she hate the queen?
What drove her insane?
Who is she working for or is she the boss?
There is a lot of loot, lots of portals, and not a whole lot of substance to this patch… Is there more story coming? Next month appears to be SAB… but this story is not wrapped up at all…
The problem is that when the main map finishes their event they all leave so suddenly 100,000 players all get the popup for traveling to the main map. The first 300 or so get in to a map that is done with the event and are screwed over. The rest of the people that also clicked travel get sent to a brand new overflow that is created from all the people trying to travel to the main map and since the map is done with the event the overflow no longer spawns a new event. Thus everyone that hits travel is out of luck.
In conclusion, don’t travel to the main map. I kinda assumed that would be common sense, but I guess not.

Prepare for world 2!
Finally a build that requires enemies to think instead of mindlessly spamming attacks. Seems like a good idea to me.
You will need to do at least 5 invasions in order to unlock the playhouse and complete the playhouse achievements before September 3rd. The invasions are sticking around permanently so you should be able to finish those achievements at any time if I had to guess.
I enjoyed the dungeon, but it didn’t seem to progress the story at all. I still have no idea who scarlet is or what she wants or what her plans are or how it ties into all the other stories like they said we would be told.
What changes? I’m not seeing any changes in the patch notes.
Is there any rhyme or reason to where Scarlet spawns? At the end, I mean.
No but she is invuln for about 15 seconds and flies very quickly across the map. If you open the match and look you can see which direction she is heading and then WP there before she is attackable.
I think It would go a long way to make 2 zones invaded at once during the event and then cut it back to 1 zone once the event is completed. This would give players more space to spread out and thin the zerg.
that the aetherblades presented a serious challenge (wiped once)
(you ninny)
Serious challenge? Let me guess, you didn’t even manage to kill Liadri and do 5 gambits achievment? And artificial “difficulties” don’t make this zergfest something else.
You disagree?! Let me construct an artificial environment within which I can immediately dismiss any contrary opinions!
Health pools and damage arent artificial “difficulties”, mobs dont try to evade your atacks dont cleanse each other conditions dont do blast finishers.. plz dont make this game what is not, there arent artificial difficulties.
I don’t know what patch you are playing but the the nightmare’s evade your attacks, reflect your attacks, transfer conditions to you from them, do blast finishers, do AOE’s and stun you if you don’t avoid the red circles they lay out… Maybe actually try playing the patch first before insulting it?
The event message could use some improving, I was so confused when I logged in. After the event ends it shouldn’t keep telling you to go to your home world, it should tell you that the next invasion starts on the hour.
The invasions are permanent. They will occur less frequently (probably every 6 hours or so if I had to guess) but Scarlet permanently messed up the world. They will be a fun activity to ring together the server a couple times a day.
Clearly they aren’t mindless zerg events because I’ve seen 3 of them fail so far. They require some coordination and cooperation in order to succeed, which is nice.
I like Scarlet. She is a fun over the top villain. This is a game it is supposed to be fun, if you want deep and thought provoking there are plenty of books out there.
I’m hoping this will all eventually tie back into the dragon story line… I mean something had to make her that crazy.
Actually the best solution is probably to make her invuln for 60 seconds allowing everyone to get to her.
no. you can jump right in
“please wait until you are summoned to your home world to participate”
1 hour later….
So now I have to wait in line for 1+ hours just to get into an invasion?
This seems like a very poor design decision…
I need to do this on 13 different maps? I think i’ll pass…
Please remove the hour long wait, thank you.
any overflow that opens up 10 minutes after the invasion begins will not have the event active. This is to prevent them from carrying over into the next invasion, as they will be active for 45 minutes maximum.
Check for invasions near the start of the hour, though there is some slight variance.
This would be great except for the fact that the invasions aren’t even happening on the home worlds let alone the overflows.
I’m on JQ in blazeridge NOT in an overflow and it is telling me to go to my home server…
I recently had a post closed for posting text about unreleased content and was told this is not allowed. However I can not seem to find this in the code of conduct.
The only reference I see if that I can not show unreleased items, areas or equipment. None of which my post did.
If someone can point me to the section that says I can’t post dialog or spoilers It would be appreciated since I can’t seem to locate it.
OP, it’s not competive. You’re not competing with other people to get the top score. As others said, you simply need to meet a minimum threshold of damage. It does help a lot if you’re in a party, because the damage threshold is lower.
Vayne, do you happen to have a link on that one? I’ve been hearing conflicting statements on the validity of being in a group while in the Crown Pavillion area. Some seem to think that the advantage of grouping was removed, while others say it is still part of the game mechanics.
I have no idea of how it works in the pavillion, but it does SEEM to work that way in Orr. I’d have trouble finding a quote…I only have annecdotal experience. It seems like I can hit something once or twice while in a group and still get some credit, but I don’t get credit if I hit something once or twice and I’m not in a group. Again, this is just personal observation and could be completely in my head.
Does it apply to the pavillion…no real idea.
I have the same experience as Vayne. by myself it takes attacking the champ from full health until it dies for me to get credit. If I arrive late no credit. While in a group I get credit even if I only get in a single hit at the very end.
A gold cap would be a nice solution — it existed in GW1. It’s not so much a punishment as a limit to the amount of wealth you can accumulate in the system. It’s a safety net against loop holes, exploits, or other unforeseen consequences of game changes.
The number would be sufficiently high so if you hit the cap you are sufficiently wealthy to do whatever you want in the game. The limit exists to prevent a small number of players from doing something drastic in the economy. This something “drastic” might be something that is possible only after a future game change when the vast wealth could be applied in a devious way. This is really a theoretical discussion at this point, but you can imagine the possibilities.
A cap would be a last-line-of-defense in the game economy.
Except that it didn’t work at all in GW1. People just started using valuable crafting items as an alternate form of currency, which caused scamming to skyrocket.
I suppose a much much higher cap than in GW1 would be possible, but I don’t see the point. Anyone hording that much wealth is helping to fight against inflation since it is just sitting there not in circulation. If you put a cap on wealth they would liquidate and drive prices up for all the poorer people.
The only real interesting thing in the dialog was the one line from the queen and that seems like more of a misplaced line then anything else…
109842_0646 Lure out the Claws of Jormag by destroying the final dragon crystal.
I’d tone down your expectations. I just finished reading the datamined dialog, don’t expect anything too unusual or spectacular.
The best way to beat inflation is to farm harder. You just need to stay ahead of the curve! Everyone needs to go farm more, it is the only way to stay ahead of the inflation bubble.
We now live in a farm or die game. You will quickly be left behind if you don’t farm for a couple hours a day.
Jumping puzzles (along with mini-dungeons) will be some of the locations that begin rewarding ascended crafting materials once crafting to 500 goes live; this is intended to help make these areas more rewarding and fun to go back to and play.
Awesome! Glad to hear it.
Any chance of fixing mesmer portals so they can’t be used to bypass 90% of the puzzle content in the game?
but there ARE people with more than 100k gold… even if that 300k pic is photoshopped.
Do you have any proof of this? or just… “some dude in my guild told me so!”
I suspect the richest person in the game is probably close to this, but I doubt there are more than a handful of people with more than 20k gold.
I would be very disappointed if the new skills were simply purchasable for skill points. That wouldn’t be the horizontal progression they were talking about at all. It would be something everyone would just buy on the first day it was implemented and be done with it. Especially after all this champ farming. The farmers easily got 500-1000 SP’s from this patch.
Anyone know what the internal CD is on the mark of blood on dodge skill? I noticed if I do two dodges in a row I only get 1 mark.
Stuff
These types of people, mostly neckbeards and children are hardly new to MMO’s, let alone guildwars.
Personally however seeing people getting so angry and upset over something so trivial as completing an event as intended is hilarious. The flood of angry tears in map chat would serve as an indication of a ‘job well done’ and perhaps encourage me to hang around to complete some more stuff, they are farming.
Although I agree that mindless verbal abuse is annoying it is also important to remember that they are getting angry because you just ruined their day. I can only imagine the sorry destitute lives these individuals must lead in order to take a game so seriously.
Either way, let them get mad and carry on going about your business.
Do it for the lulz.
Intentional harassment of other players is against the TOS and is a bannable offense. As much as they get angry and yell, you are much more likely to get a 3 day vacation then they are.
A
vacationtempban for what exactly, saying nothing and playing the game as intended? Well done sherlock, I think you’re on to something.Either way, I find it sad you would view a ban as a ‘vacation’, that implies you treat the game as some sort of career.
In more recent news, playing the game as intended will land you a ban, apparently.
your straw man argument is weak at best. There is nothing wrong with completing an event, but no one here is talking about completing an event. The words used are
“troll the farmers and feast on their tears” or “watch them suffer as you screw over their farming”
If you look on gw2stuff.com many of these events previously went uncompleted for 100+ hours at a time. All of a sudden you are magically interested in completing these events for the sake of them? No, you are attempting to harass other players because you don’t agree with their way of playing the game, and that is what is a bannable offense, harassment.
better solution:
Don’t tie the event to Arah…. Then we know that there won’t be any legitimate progressionists that are completing the event. Easy to tell the griefers from the players that way.
As I said…griefing is griefing. Doesn’t matter which side you’re on.
Completing an event that is intended to be completed is never going to be taken as griefing. Insulting players, however, that are trying to complete the event could get you in trouble.
Griefers like you make the community a very hostile place. I can only hope Anet will see these responses and properly ban those who are harassing farmers for no other reason then trying to make people mad.
I don’t even know where to get these skins?
I know they drop from the gauntlet bags as very rare drops. I’ve gotten 3 skins after about 20 stacks of watchwork sprockets. of course that doesn’t take into account the ones I spent buying tickets… well ok I have no idea. I’ve earned about 400g in profit and gotten 3 skins, they are rare.
I think you can buy them from the vendors in the pavillion though for like 5g each or something.
To answer the OP’s question, no they will most likely NOT be added to the weapon specialist. These aren’t so much event skins, as they are instead activity skins similar to SAB. When the gauntlet returns at a later date I would assume these weapons would return with them.
The weapon specialist seems to be for weapons that can be obtained through the gem store and from events that aren’t recurring activities like SAB.
Your best option is to join a group. The % dmg threshold stays at the same % but the damage counts from all 5 party members. Usually in a group of 5, 1 hit from each person is enough to get credit.
Also there is really no support/healing role in this game. The only role is damage. There isn’t a single instance in the game where support/healing is more helpful then damage. You can spec full into damage and still apply all the same strength boons and conditions to help with support. I would suggest looking into more damage specs which also apply boons/conditions without focusing on them.
Since boons apply the same buff and conditions apply the same debuffs regardless of spec, you will always be better off speccing damage.
You do not understand what I am saying. A person with a text message alert system never allows anyone to outbid them- unless they bid high enough that the item cannot be flipped. They place a new order once their order is filled so they can flip the items again and again. They have a text message anytime they are outbid and log right in and outbid you. So you really cannot just leave your bid there because it will never reach it.
If they had to be logged into the game to see the new bids for themselves then that would give others at least more than 1 min as the top bid, but with the text message they do not have any down time as top bid.
so they have to launch the game, log in, go to the TP, open the TP, go to their transactions, Go to the “Item’s I’m buying Tab”, remove their items, collect their money, search for that item again on the TP, and relist a buy order.
They manage to do all that instantly while competing with thousands and thousands of other players to prevent anyone from getting their buy orders filled?
Sounds like you just placed your buy order to low…

First off, I don’t recall Anet saying that they would “keep” stuff from GW1. Remember that GW1 is not an MMO. To expect all or nearly all aspects from GW1 to transfer over here would be unwise.
1.) I agree that combos as it is are somewhat underpowered. Combos, especially those when working with few players in easy situations don’t last long. However, if you want to play efficient in dungeons, you will see a lot of combos being used for hardcore groups, especially speed runs.
And in WvW, any competent zerg uses combos since they can be the difference between life or death.
I agree with you friend on the use of the fire field. If you are in a simple PvE situation, facing off normal mobs or even a veteran – the time and stress to worry about combo fields is not worth it.
If you had a 10-man guild group working on a champion, however, I can understand wanting to stack might.
2.) I agree we need instant build changers. I also think we need a way to /save or /load our armor set ups. Rift had this and it was wonderful.
3.) You’re not allowed because it would be very easy to farm and work against others who are not playing with the guild. Remember that crab karka game? How unfair would it be if you had one entire guild pick on you because they want to get their members to have achievements? It’s not fun.
4.) Tournaments I’m fine with
5.) Don’t mind hardcore mode, but I can imagine the casuals would have a problem with it.
6.) Balance is hard to do, but they constantly adjust it. When you have this many classes in game and weapons, it’s difficult
7.) If you don’t want to dedicate the time and effort for achievement points, then you don’t deserve them. They’re called ‘achievement’ for a reason.
8.) I’m sure a lot of people here would hate soulbound titles
Pretty much what he said ^^
The unfortunate fact is that Anet can no longer ban people for chat abuse because it has become too prevalent. They created a hostile environment and they got hostile players in return. If they went and banned everyone that was being abusive in chat there wouldn’t be enough players left to support the game.
Just /block then all and hope you don’t reach the cap.
I suggested something similar to this in another thread.
Basically have a champion counter for the event that counts the number of champions killed during the event. If the event succeeds you get a bonus chest that contains that number of champ bags.
Mithril goes through cycles of 31c to 51c all the time. Not really sure why, but it does so just about every month as far as I can tell.
If you want me to rez you then take it up with Anet and their lazy design team. In the open world rezzing takes 10 seconds and the person you rez can help you participate and kill things. In the gauntlet rezzing takes 10 seconds and then forces you to sit in a line for an extra two minutes costing you up to 1g and making you stare at the floor and do nothing. Rezzing you is just a time sink and a money waster for me.
If you want the happy cooperative community back then tell Anet to go back to developing a happy cooperative game, not one that relies on other players being dead to actually get to play the game.
Awesome. I can’t wait to see what we have going into year 2, especially since the “core” portfolio of content in now complete.
Left behind in what? There is nothing to spend that gold on other than vanity skins. All the best gear is/will only be obtainable by time-gated currencies and materials.
well except for permanent items. and titles, and skins and legendaries, and food, and gem store items.
Any class can farm. The frostgorge and ember farms are completely profession independent. The Gauntlet doesn’t have to be farmed at T3. You can farm T2 for still a decent amount of g/hr.
How much money you earn is entirely up to you. That is the beauty of MMO’s everyone starts the same and has the same opportunities. There are no separate tax brackets, no less fortunate neighborhoods, no being born into money, everyone is the same. If someone is richer than you it is because they used their intelligence and play time in a way that you didn’t.
Laurels are worth exactly what you can get from them. If you can’t convert them into 10g then they aren’t worth 10g.
The best investment you can make is a toss up between Dyes and Rare gear. Though with the price or Ori and Wood going through the roof, the T6 bags might be averaging high enough to be a better option at this point.
