10g/hr? Thats not that much. I guess these champ trains really don’t give that much after all. Dungeons IMO are still your best bet in getting rich. Best farm dungeon route is CoF path 1&2 , CoE path 1,2,3. HotW path 1 and 2.
Lets not forget all those tokens for completing the dungeons!
See I don’t see a problem with that (assuming you aren’t exploiting to skip things) since the dungeons take a group, coordination and to complete all those paths quickly, some skill. In addition it is only for 1 run a day, you can’t keep doing it.
Plus gauntlet farming currently dwarfs everything else. Zerker warriors can make close to 20g/hr with no DR.
You are doing something very wrong if you are only getting 2.5g/hr in drops…
The zerg train I have been running is 7g/hr in pure cash plus any drops you get. Usually works out to be about 10g/hr.
Nothing would need to be nerfed if you were only getting a pathetic 2.5g/hr, there are literally 100 different things you can do in the game to earn that small of an amount.
I feel like making a guild event to intentionally break the zerg chain. lol
That would be griefing and would be bannable as you would be intentionally harassing other players.
I’m sorry, but taking a guild of people to the Cursed Shore to do events in the order we choose isn’t griefing. Even intentionally breaking the zerg chain isn’t griefing.
Events are there to be done and we’d be doing them. That’s like saying it’s griefing to win at PvP or it’s griefing to win a one of the races.
I’m playing the game. I’m doing dynamic events. With my guild.
There’s no griefing involved here.
Completing events is not griefing. Intentionally interfering with players for the sole purpose of harassing them and preventing them from getting loot is griefing and is reportable as per the game rules.
This has nothing to do with PvP please don’t bring up irrelevant tangents.
I feel like making a guild event to intentionally break the zerg chain. lol

It is an exploit obviously, but due to the number of people participating it is unlikely you will be banned since they need to have players actually in their game to make money.
It is no different than any of the other currency exploits. Buy item for very cheap, exchange it during a 10 second fight to significantly more money.
Originally I thought nothing could bring in more gold to the economy then CoF farming did…
I was wrong. There are 3-4 different activities in this patch that EASILY yield 8-10g/hr in pure gold creation, plus an additional 4-5 g/hr in selling drops.
Not really sure what the devs were thinking when they did this.
Not against the rules, but you also won’t get any help if you get scammed.
This ^^
If someone steals 10000g from you then that is your fault, nothing will be done to them and you won’t get any of the money back. Every mail transaction is a gift and is treated as such.
Seems unlikely… a 45 minute dungeon giving 10g? That would be something…. Not to mention the dozens of champ bags you must get from there.
In a game where NerfNet hates farming and punishes players for trying to make money you will always people will take advantage of and farm in hardcore mode whenever they make a mistake and give players a chance to make money.
Once this is nerfed people will wait for the next slip-up and then farm that. It is NerfNets own fault for creating this cycle, not having a public test server to catch things like this, and for punishing farmers so much.
Bug is still present… can’t get my oby shards due to this bug. Please revert the change.
Colin mentioned on Reddit:
You won’t be seeing a new region this year. This is however an example of living world content as discussed in the blog post in July that has a wider affect on the world, and more permanent impact as well.
Dat mining suggests interesting things.
Some of those things sound awesome! I look forward to those.
At least they had the decency to put this nerf in the notes. About a dozen champ farms had their respawn timers “adjusted”, but none of those made it into the notes…
Just wanted to provide an update for this. Tried the event chain just now. Event failed within 20 seconds. Morale just went from 100 to 0 in 5 seconds even though we had already killed 90% of the risen. There was literally nothing we could do to stop it.
There’s more to the game than using Zerker gear to do boss mobs in seconds.
Zerker gear boss zerging = 100g in a day
apparently there isn’t.
Did they nerf the other ones too?
I don’t understand the nerf… the other T3 bosses take like 6 extra seconds…
Limited to 900 range… one of the slowest AOE attacks… 5 person cap…
your attempt to get thieves nerfed is poor…
The patch notes almost always leave out stealth “nerfs”
They don’t want players to know about them I guess…
seems anything that people can make a few silver from anet nerf : /
This was WELL beyond a few silver…
This was 3x more money then even CoF ever gave…
This has been the best update by far so far.
The people complaining are the ones that frankly suck at the game.
Just subject 7 or all T3 bosses? the patch notes only mention subject 7.
The rune has a 20s icd, meaning you can use it with consume conditions quite well. Does anyone know how many stacks and how long the applied torment lasts for?
Previously, NPCs could die and their death would count towards a max number of deaths morale could have. Now, all NPCs health pools count towards “morale”, so if all the health pools are zero at once the event fails.
I’m not sure how it got missed in the patch notes, I know I wrote one. Sorry!
Previously, the event failed after X Pact NPC deaths. This meant that if you revived one of the NPCs, you could actually bring the event closer to failure if the NPC died again, so it was better to leave any dead NPCs behind and never revive them. It’s now based on the current total living Pact members, if they’re all dead at once, the event fails, but reviving the NPCs will cause the morale meter to rise. As long as one Pact NPC is alive, the event keeps running.
This would be fine except for the fact that you can’t actually rez the NPC’s at balth so the event just fails instantly.
there is nothing boring about making 50s per 60 secs :|
Say that after you’ve killed subject 7 200 times in a row….
Maybe i’m just no hardcore enough, but after 200g I had to stop to prevent myself from going crazy.
Gauntlet and some of the current champ farms yield far more money then CoF ever did.
I’m talking 15-20g/hr farms.
effective yes… but man is it boring…
Queensdale isn’t even the best champ farming area. If you know what I’m talking about, you understand.
3 champs in 3 minutes? Guaranteed exotic chest?
That beats the waypointing costs at Queensdale + the chance of a non-exotic chest.
Though Orr champ farming appears to give you the best bang for your buck? Why?
Because of Glided Coffers and Genesis and it’s value. Last I checked it was 300g. The best weapon you can get out of Glided Boxes (from FSG) is Entropy, which is around 150g?
You trying to get us all nerfed!?! remove the zone from your post. I need more boxes!
Earthquake was removed this morning for some reason.
Great now this farm is going to get nerfed too… People just can’t keep things to themselves can they? This is why we don’t get nice things…
It’s already broken, it will probably be nerfed soon due to the insane gold making potential. They certainly won’t make it better.
30/30/0/10/0, Full rabid gear.
Use Locust for mobility, grasp for the pull, blood is power for the long bleed and elite I used asura golem for burst dmg but flesh golem should work too.
Scepter/dagger for weapons. You can throw energy sigils on them if you can’t figure out the pattern and need more dodges.
Basically as soon as she becomes vulnerable you need to get as many conditions on her as possible. Blood is power followed by condition transfer from dagger gives her 4 stacks of bleed for 1 minute. Get a bunch of scepter hits in to get more bleed and poison, pop into DS for torment and then basically just try to survive while her health ticks down.
People seem to think that alts are some reward factory thing, that is your own thinking, it was never implied or intended in the OP.
What I want is to put in x amount of work and get y reward for whatever character I am playing. I don’t want all this account bound stuff that leads to hundreds of restrictions on what I can and can’t do with my alts. Sure I guess in that sense the game could almost be seen as “alt friendly” since I never actually have to play my alt in order to level, get gear, karma, money, etc.
But that’s exactly the problem. I want to play a different character with his/her own progression, but I can’t do that due to how anet keeps changing things. In the beginning of the game it was possible, but they have been making it harder and harder for me to just play alts as a different character.
Now if I decide to do something on my main it basically auto progresses my alts as well without the option to actually use my alts to do their own progression, and that is what I have a problem with.
Haven’t you learned yet… If you play PvE and aren’t a warrior/guardian then you are doing it wrong… and Anet will keep punishing you until you do it right.
I managed to do it without energy sigils, but I did have locust. I’m a full condition build.
The fight is scripted so once you figure out the pattern to the death beams from hell you can just learn to stand where they aren’t. Dodges aren’t really needed. The hardest part is standing still long enough to pick up those stupid orbs, and throw them without getting clone slammed.
Also I found the fight much easier in a party where I could mark her so I wasn’t constantly tabbing through clones.
Meh I did it with condition spec necro and that was almost trivial.
Being skilled at reading and having eyes that work are what’s overpowered in this game, everything else is inconsequential.
That’s what make the fight interesting. If you could just face tank autoattack, what’s the point.
It doesn’t make the fight challenging when it’s all luck based. You need luck so she doesn’t place the light portals on the very edge of the arena, making it harder to walk visions into them.
You need luck on where she decides to place the aoe, either forcing too many dodges in a row or allowing for endurance to regen. You need luck where the visions spawn, so you don’t constantly get mobbed as not only do you need to kite this ridiculous mob of visions while the boss is wailing on you and you got a 2 min limit on beating her.
None of those things are luck. They all follow a very specific pattern. The fight is scripted, it goes the same every time.
In a game where you can completely ignore damage with dodge, 1-shot mechanics are the only mechanics worth paying attention to. The fights are very fair, and pretty trivial if you can read enemy descriptions and see obvious telegraphed attacks. There is no need for guides or anything. The only boss that took me more than one try was the last one because I died before I could figure out what was killing me and the combat log is bugged from those attacks.
Once I realized there was red circles I was missing due to camera angles (a problem that legitimately needs to be addressed) I progressed fairly quickly from there. Took me 20 tries total, which is not very many in all honesty.
These are the most anti-zerg bosses yet. That Centaur AOE is a zerg killer, the flame legion guy and all those fire explosions, the pirate and that reflect.
I’ve seen zergs of 40-50 just get destroyed by those. The problem is rezzing. as long as 4 people survive they can rez the entire zerg in 20-30 seconds. even if 70/75 people die they will still destroy the boss since those 5 can get the zerg back up in <1 minute while maintaining aggro.
After ~20 tries it actually becomes pretty easy. High dmg isn’t even requested, you rather need survivability and heal, so every class should be able to do it. I’d like to see bosses like Liadri in dungeons.
ArenaNet testers are bad. Did you watch the patch preview? He didn’t even know where to find the tournament NPC.
Lol even admitted to not being able to do torches, are all their comps set up to use A and D to turn?
I use A and D to turn and I finished the torches with ~15 seconds left… they weren’t exactly hard…
Though I also beat the gauntlet (minus orb achive) with my necro pretty easily.
These were probably the same testers who thought explorable mode dungeons were impossible and couldn’t beat them before launch…
The only nerf was the removal of the 4 centaur champs that respawned instantly… nothing else was changed.
And since you didn’t even mention that in your OP i’m going to guess you are just trolling…
This is the obvious solution and the devs said it would work great in theory but in practice it costs too much money. NCSoft won’t pay for all the additional hardware it would require to make this feasible. So this will never happen.
Anet is slowly killing off alts and I don’t understand why… Alts are one of the main driving forces to keep players around, yet every decision kills them a little more.
1. It started with fractals… oh fractals are character bound so you can progress on each characters… (i.e. screw you alts, you have to run 50 fractal runs just to get back to the skill level you are at)
2. Next was laurels… Oh sorry this reward is account bound so your alts will take forever to gear up…
3. Then came daily bonus chests… what you only made alts to get bonus rares? L2GW2!!!
4. Next came WvW ranks… oh you want to play an alt in WvW, sucks to be you, all your bonuses are gone now (i.e. “progression”)
5. After that came time gated crystals… oh you can only get one of these magical crystals a day, good luck ever building gear with these crystals on your alts… that will take 100 years…
6. Here we arrive today with dungeon rewards being switched to account bound for gold AND tokens.
7. Update: Ascended weapons. 2 weeks per weapon. 5 weapons per character minimum. Assuming you have 4 alts… that’s a minimum of 40 weeks of grinding just to get weapons for all your characters… I thought the other restrictions were bad… prepared to be crushed by this new level of alt hate
Every time one of these things happened the blind Anet defenders came and swarmed shouting their typical chant… "what you only play alts for X, Learn 2 GW2 and play the “right” way!"
Well guess what… there is no longer a single area of the PvE game left that alts aren’t penalized for, guess it’s time for a new excuse.

Given that lodestone prices are plummeting, I think it is safe to say they have an increased drop chance from these new bags.
I got 4 cores this morning from farming queensdale champs.
This of course ignores the fact that you will be able to craft pre-cursors with the introduction of the new legendaires. This will have some unknown effect.
It might be more cost effective to craft it once that is introduced. But if you are just looking to make money then the biggest winners (and losers) will always be found from gambling.
Hmm I thought this was the best event to date.
I’ll grant the balloons aren’t overly exciting, but the story was well executed, the pavillion and gauntlet are a TON of fun, and the new features are all wonderful, and they FINALLY nerfed CoF farming. This patch was a huge win for me.
Well obviously. There are more players and monsters in that small area then most of the rest of the world combined. Not to mention that there are so many overflows that it probably takes a minute just to sort out which overflow still has room in it for you.
It’s the same reason that it takes so long to load into LA even though its a small zone. Lots of players nearby = long loading time.
Add in the 100,000+ vets in the area and there is your explanation. There won’t be a fix because it is just the nature of all the textures and data tracking.
I don’t understand why necros are having so much trouble in the gauntlet… I found it to be EZ mode on my necro using a pure condition build.
Use flesh golem and learn to dodge roll and keep those bleeds up. That’s really the only strategy I used and I beat every encounter except the last one in 1 try. Last fight is more tricky, took me 10 tries just to figure out I needed to drag those ghosts into the light, then another 10 tries to finally pull it off, but it is doable with necro as well.
I ran the loot train for 2 hours this morning when it first came out, and another hour this evening. Mostly with huge zergs farming Queensdale continuously. Probably killed 80-90 champions all told.
Result: about 4g (total, from every source)
0 lodestones
0 cores
0 exotics
2 rares — total
I did get some amount of T6 mats
All the rest was blue/green/trash, lower-level mats, and coin bagsWTF is my roi so frikkin’ horrible compared to everyone else? Does Anet hate me, or am I just the unluckiest mother in the history of the universe?
You are farming in a level 1 area… what did you expect? Those champs drop T1 Champ boxes which contain very little. If you want more mats, exotics, and lodestones you will need to kill lvl 80 champs.
So… what was the point in Champion loot then? The loot is now still terrible enough that many people would see one and just be like “Meh, not worth it” and keep on walking. Is it even much better than it started now?
The champ loot was not nerfed. The champs themselves were removed. During the first few hours of the event the centaur area of the pavillion spawned 4-5 champ centaurs with a 3 minute respawn timer. People were pulling in 100 T6 champ chests an hour, leading to insane amounts of loot. They removed those centaurs.
Never played keg brawl before, never even heard of it or knew where to find it. Now that it is in the rotation I will probably try it out since it is easier to access.
Seems like a great change to me. no one I talked o had ever heard of this game before… has it really been in since launch?
They brought it in line with the rest of the game rewards. Sure you can’t earn 10-15g/hr now, but you can still pull in a decent 5g/hr. Plus it is still a ton of fun.
Vayne: They first removed the champ bags from the centaurs and then they removed the champ centaurs completely. They also seemed to tone down the normal drops, though that is speculation as it isn’t in the hot-fix notes, though personally I went from a steady 100 bags/hr for the first 3 hours down to 50 bags/hr for the next 3.
Temporary content currency does not go in the wallet as it won’t ever be used again.
If you haven’t spent those yet they are long since gone.
