For me I find the fact that there is only one game type to get very boring very fast.
If they added a capture the flag, a deathmatch, or some other mode I’d be much more inclined to play more.
Condition damage is most definately one of the biggest if not biggest problems in the game.
There is a reason direct damage is so superior to condition damage. There is a reason the zerker warrior is king.
Most real fixes for this issue will cause more server side load and thus cost more $$$ so it is very unlikely we will see a solution.
There are some simple things they can do to allow conditions more viability without crashing their servers.
1.Allowing conditions on objects would solve a lot of headaches.
2.Allowing conditions to crit (might be more complicated and need some balancing) should also be a possibility without killing the servers
3.Allowing more synergy between condition oriented stats. Power/Prec/Crit% gear is king because all 3 stats increase the effectiveness of the other stats. This doesn’t happen at all with condition dmg. Allowing conditions to crit would also give Rabid gear more synergy.
4. Simplest solution of all: hike up the toughness of all enemies in the game to decrease direct dmg.It doesn’t solve the underlying issues (stack caps) but it would at least help alleviate the problem.
Precisions synergize with condition damage by providing the crit chance to trigger the various ‘apply X on crit’ effects. I could be wrong about this but I am fairly certain conditions were not intended to be used for burst. The precision on rabid is to provide the crit chance needed triggering the various ‘apply X on crit’ effects.
Increasing armor is just going to make thing take longer to kill without benefiting anyone. It will mean condition damage can contribute a higher percent of the damage dealt to kill a target but who does this benefit except people trying to compare who has the highest DPS?
Well I admit they are more band-aid fixes to make condition specs more desirable, not great solutions.
You could also increase the armor but decrease the HP to achieve the same overall time but with a higher condition contribution.
Basically I just want to know that they are going to address the issue and haven’t just swept it under the rug.
Ahh.. I missed it… how did it look?

Why would making them account bound be a bad thing exactly?
For the same reason it uses the same skin for light/medium/heavy and is too large for most characters.
It was easier to make that way to make the continuous 2 week deadlines they are trying to keep up with.
Unlikely. The team that designed them is probably already behind on the next patch they need to pump out at light speed.
Why produce quality dyeable rewards when they just get replaced by the next pumped up flashy content 2 weeks later… Much less effort to just make it shiny and unmemorable so they can keep pumping them out.
I want them bigger, shinier, and more particly then ever!
In fact I want them to burn out the computer screens of anyone who dares look upon my awesomeness!
There was a notable absence from the recent blog post. There was no mention of fixing condition damage in PvE. This should be one of the highest priority issues in the game, yet it wasn’t even mentioned. Are solutions to this issue coming? Or have they been delayed until next year?
An entire year of having half your damage being useless in PvE is not great…
Are there any updates on this issue?
Edit: apparently they put 2 words in about culling, the other major issue of the game.

It is such an obvious design flaw that I think anet has it under control. If they don’t… then this game is in serious trouble.
The should remove the MF stat and replace it with nothing. Then add a vendor that exchanges the armor for account bonuses. This will allow players who only have MF armor to keep their armor and use it until they get new armor and then turn it in.
If the discounts are significant then that heavily favors Evon (again). The keys can be bought in any amount in that short time, thus making it more appealing, as well as having a chance to get multiple rare and unlimited items worth 100’s and 100’s of gold.
With the upcoming introduction of new legendary weapons and “trinkets”, this is Anet’s chance to get them right. Here is a list of differences I would like to see to make this set much better:
1. Account Bound. Legendary weapons should of never been on the TP. It is too late for the first set, but please correct this for the new weapons.
2. Less buying, more playing. You can buy almost everything you need for a legendary on the TP. You only need badges (currently thrown at us in obsene numbers), karma, SP’s, Map exploration, and a few dungeon tokens. Everything else can just be bought. I suggest vastly increasing the dungeon tokens, add in laurels and other account bound items, and decrease the buyable items.
3. Less sparkle, more awesomeness. Most of the first legendary weapons are pretty silly… the pistol, the SB, and the mace in particular. That’s fine for the people who want that sort of thing, but please diversify. Necros just look silly with their selection of legendary weapons.
4. Fix the engineer legendary problem. This has been well dicussed and acknowledged, but make sure there is a solution before adding in more.
If you have more please post them so the devs know what we want in terms of the next gen legendary weapons.
Well I don’t know about SoR but JQ is bursting at the seams. LA is in overflow about 8 hours a day, and there are multiple servers present in the overflow so it isn’t unique to JQ.
You can forget getting into WvW, I sat in the EB queue for an hour last night.
Of course if you play at odd times your milage will vary. 7-12PM EST is always packed, and ~9AM EST is also packed from overseas players.
So many complicated reasons and explanations… it is really quite simple though.
They were testing the reaction and commitment of the playerbase before announcing that ascended armor mats would all be time gated. If the community had freaked out they would of held off on that announcement.
Another thing to mention on the PvE side of things is the current 2 week living story cycles. There is a new event introduced every 2 weeks that you might want to check out.
Right now is the bazaar of the four winds.
Umm no this was PvE griefing. I just kill anyone that gets in my way in WvW.
Non-guild member followed us into our guild puzzle, stole a battery and jumped on top of the puzzle until the timer ran out so that we failed the puzzle.
There didn’t seem to be an appropriate category for this kind of harassment however.
If you want to unlock dyes, then just sell them. That 10g will buy you about ~250 colors.
If you want the money then sell them. That 10g is certain, while there are only ~10 dyes out of 400 that will get you your money back
Kitten PvP balance. I’m sick and tired of the game suffering because of PvP.
I’d rather they remove it completely and just make a great game.
I thought all character footprints were the same? I’m like 99.999% sure of it.
I think what you mean is that the camera sucks, and it is certainly problematic for bigger races.
There does not seem to be a category for griefing under the report option. How does one go about reporting griefing ingame?
There is a bug with karma boosts. It is long since buried in the bugs section, but I don’t think it was ever fixed.
When you apply multiple boosts only some of them apply. It is seemingly random and even with every boost applied you can get anywhere from 0% to 95%. Always use a small sip of karma to check before consuming.
If you find you have less than the boost you should have, log out of your character and log back in. All the boosts stay and should be correctly applied upon logging back in.
No there is no way to do this.
You will need to buy another one of the skin you want.
This looks promising!
How are they doing on the PvE front?
New living story releases every 2 weeks, upgraded rewards for meta events, Guild missions, new fractals soon, fractals in general depending on how long you’ve been gone.
On the PvP front there has been custom arenas and a spectator mode. a bunch of new maps, and numerous balance changes.
Well a lot has changed in the last 10 months.
I would check out this blog for a look of whats to come: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
Also you can look at this page to get an idea of the highlights of each patch since you’ve left: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/
Currently the Bazaar of the four winds is happening. It is a temporary event so i’d check that out asap if you want in on the rewards and activities.
GW2 always had gear progression. We’ve had the white -> blue -> green -> yellow -> orange tiers since at least the first public beta.
The lack of gear grind was one of the main things that appealed to me about this game (and GW1 before it) but the addition of 1 tier with a pretty minor jump in stats hasn’t changed that for me. I’ve yet to find anything I can’t do in exotic (or even a mix of exotic, rare and masterwork) gear so IMO ascended is largely optional. I’ll get it sometime, on all 5 of my characters, but I’m in no hurry and it doesn’t bother me.
I hate to go all slippery-slop on ya, but if they’re willing to add one new tier within the first year, who’s to say they won’t add another next year? After all, the people clamoring for a new tier this year and going to be doing the same thing next year, barring some harsh time-gating on obtaining ascended.
Well they’re to say that. And they have. They said they needed a bridge tier and once it was out they would switch to horizontal progression.
They said they have no intentions of adding another tier. If they do then we have a problem, but it seems unlikely.
They have fixed one or two game crashes in every patch since launch.
The problem is that there is a lot more variety in computers then there is patches.
legendary trinkets?!!! lol
ascended was ok..
but going as far as legendary tier..? the gap for exotics will only widen!!
/facepalm
you don’t even play this game do you?
At least learn how the game works before attempting to bakitten. You just look silly now…
imo these trinkets will almost certainly add some sort of character effect. An aura, a footprint, a shine on armor, something for the visual aspect. The ability to switch stats alone will not be worth the effort to get a legendary trinket.
ETA: is soon, which could be anytime between next Tuesday and the end of the universe.
Err everything stated in the blog is happening before the end of 2013… thus why it is called “what’s ahead in 2013”
Nobody cares in WvW how many rank points you have or what gear you have or what level you have.
The only thing they care about is if you listen to the commander. Everything else is just fluff.
Great news for you. They are expanding the banking system to have a wardrobe section for your extra sets of cosmetics.
Check out here for the mention of it:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
Personally I hope Anet deletes 7 of your characters and delevels the one remaining character to lvl 1.
Then you can use your scroll!
It use to be a lot cheaper in the earlier days. Earning coin was easier until everything was nerfed.
What you’re seeing is people flushing their gold in exchange for gems so that the exchange rate becomes attractive enough for people to exchange real money for gems.
It was cheaper because no one had money.
earning coin is far easier than it was at the beginning of the game.
earning mats has been nerfed, which means higher mat prices, it doesn’t say anything about the amount of gold though.
People seem confused about the MF changes… lets set some facts straight.
1. MF is not being nerfed or removed. The blog clearly states that MF is going to become an account stat and no longer a gear stat. It is never stated, mentioned, or implied that MF is being removed or nerfed.
2. MF gear is not becoming worthless and a waste of money/laurels/comms/etc. Again as is clearly stated in the blog, all current gear will be converted to compensation to give you an equivalent amount of account MF. They are already planning on refunding you in this way. The exact method and amount is not known and likely won’t be known until implementation.
3. Consumables are not temporary. These are not food buff consumables, they are like SP’s or an xp bar. You will need to consume a certain number of them to obtain the next “rank” of MF, and each subsequent one will require more of these consumables to reach a higher rank. Again refer to the blog, there is no mention anywhere of a temporary buff, all permanent.
4. MF food and boosters are remaining in game, these will not become useless.
Please keep to these known facts when making posts. Childish whining about things that have already been addressed just makes you look silly.
Where was all of this stated? Because none of these details were in the article that I read.
I would suggest reading it again then and pay closer attention to the section on magic find, additionally make sure to read the 2 interviews by colin that provide additional details. They can be found here:

Finding afk players who didn’t go to a city and pulling mobs to them to kill them and rez and repeat is one of the most fun activities in the game
It’s like a strip show! They slowly take off their armor for you after you do it enough times.
on topic: I don’t think MOB’s train in this game like old MMO’s. a mob with aggro will only switch aggro if you provoke it by attacking. a person running by with mobs following them will have those mobs continue to follow them until they leash and run back to their spawn point. Unless you attack the training mobs there is really no concerns or worries to other players. Obviously AOE can be a problem for certain mobs, but if you are running through an area then any one spot is not likely to be hit hard with AOE.
As per the interviews that accompanied the blog it is not legendary armor. It will be legendary trinkets, probably amulets if I had to guess.
My pure speculation is that they will modify your appearance in some way to make them desirable.

Will gold find be the next target for nerf?
With 200% GF
If the main reason to remove ‘MF’ is to balance the classes and make people more effective everyone will move to GF.
At 200% somthing that drops 74copper becomes 3s 24copper.
During the southsun event it was possible to get upwards of 5silver per drop!
People will stack this stat to make up for the loss of T6 materials in farming and if you ask me the inflation this will cause by the massive influx of cash will be WORSE than removing MF.
Removing MF only serves to drive the prices of T6 materials even higher.
I’m not sure if you read the blog post and just ignored everything it said, or if you simply didn’t read it…
But MF isn’t being removed or nerfed. Perhaps you should try reading again and once you can comprehend it you can edit your thread and try again.
Clearly the new players ascended gear brought in vastly outweighed the whiners and complainers that left.
Hopefully this next round gets rid of the rest of them so we can enjoy the game as it improves.
while your math appears to be correct it is very misleading. There is not a 13%/9% increase in stats overall, your actual power and precision % increases much less due to the large intrinsic stats you get. You have 916 in each stat without armor when you are 80.
Power: ((1486-1419)/1419)x100) = 4.7%
Precision: ((1292-1261)/1261)x100) = 2.5%
Critical Damage: ((44-35)/44)x100) = 20.46%So the overall change is minimal.
it isn’t. what, you expect your sword to hit for 0 with no power gear? this is there for balance reasons and has nothing to do with this discussion.
huh? you are trying to tell me that accounting for all the numbers is not important for doing math?!?!
Ascended gear increases your overall power by 4.7%
Ascended gear increases your overall precision by 2.5%
Accounting for all the numbers is extremely important and has everything to do with the discussion.
99% of this game is made for casuals, they are adding in optional content for hardcore players to enjoy.
and they should not do that. Everyone should be able to be equal and enjoy the content equally. Adding something to grind for is not a good idea.
Using that definition of a grind makes everything in this game a grind post 80.
Gold farming, grind.
Legendary, grind.
Achievements, grind.
Fractal levels, grind.
keep up with new content releases, grind.
Making something that is expensive and takes time does not make it a grind. The stats are minimal and not required to complete anything in the game.
There are like 25 different stealth counters in the game. Learn one of those.
The very first thing they said about ascended items was that they were working on multiple ways to obtain them but it would take a while to roll them all out, no one “won” anything, people just complained and complained until they finished.
Many more people will leave and complain if they are easy to obtain. They are going to be time gated and expensive just as they should be.
Thankfully Anet is in charge and not the people on this forum.
you do realize that this is not an MMO for hardcores? Timegated and expensive doesn’t bode well with casuals. Asian grinders will love it though.
99% of this game is made for casuals, they are adding in optional content for hardcore players to enjoy.
Harsh? Asc trinkets are a 3-5% overall boost to your stats. Unless you are hell-bent on always having the best items, you don’t have to get these.
Exotics will still be viable as they always were.
Crafting needed something like this to be worth-while again. No one crafts for any reason other than to level now, it’s pointless otherwise. Now you can make money and help guildies by being a 500 crafter.
Non-Ascended Berserker Stats vs Ascended Bersker Stats (Trinkets):
Power: 461 vs 541 (17.4% increase)
Precision: 315 vs 341 (8.3% increase)
Crit Damage: 32 vs 39 (22% increase)So, the increase in OVERALL stats of ascended vs non-ascended trinkets is far greater than 3-5% overall. As with the armor, I’m sure we’ll something similar, just as we do in rares vs exotics. Anyone who has a full set of ascended equipment will have a significant stat increase to someone with full elites. As with ascended trinkets, it sounds like we won’t be able to get 6 pieces of armor day one. I can understand why someone would be jealous of not having such a nice stat boost. I’m looking forward to getting a full set.
Is that figure for the exotics counting the slotted gem? It’s important to consider because Ascended items merge the gem into the stats. So to compare an Ascended berserker’s trinket to an exotic one it’s the [exotic trinket + matching gem] vs. Ascended Trinket.
Can’t be.. here are the stats
Exotic Asc
Power/prec power/pres
508 346 570 376Difference of: 10.8% 7.9%
I don’t know the crit changes tho.
Exotic crit is 36%.. so if 36 vs 39 is a 7.7% increase. Not 22%
Your calculation is a percentage difference, I’m stating percentage changes (in this case increases); the increase of 36 to 39 is 8.33% not 7.7%. My value for the exotic crit was 32, which was an error since I didn’t include the backpiece on any of my calculations; with the correct values the increase is 20.46%. I found a site that explains it in simple terms: go to mathisfun.com to understand some basic terms.
Here’s an easier to understand breakdown using actual item names and the simple calculations:
Prototype Fractal Capacitor: 56/35/5
Magister’s Field Journal: 91/60/7
Althea’s Ashes: 91/60/7
Crystaline Band: 103/68/8
Ring of Red Death: 103/68/8
Mark of the Tethyous Houses: 126/85/9
Total: 570/376/44Guild Assassin Backpack+Ruby Orb: 42/30/3
Ruby Orichalcum Earring of the Berserker (Includes Exquisitie Ruby Jewel): 81/55/6
Ruby Orichalcum Earring of the Berserker (Includes Exquisitie Ruby Jewel): 81/55/6
Ruby Orichalcum Ring of the Berserker (Includes Exquisitie Ruby Jewel): 92/63/6
Ruby Orichalcum Ring of the Berserker (Includes Exquisitie Ruby Jewel): 92/63/6
Ruby Orichalcum Amulet of the Berserker (Includes Exquisitie Ruby Jewel): 115/79/8
Total: 503/345/35Stat INCREASE from Exotic to Ascended
Power: ((570-503)/503)x100) = 13.32%
Precision: ((376-345)/345)x100) = 8.99%
Critical Damage: ((44-35)/44)x100) = 20.46
while your math appears to be correct it is very misleading. There is not a 13%/9% increase in stats overall, your actual power and precision % increases much less due to the large intrinsic stats you get. You have 916 in each stat without armor when you are 80.

Precision: ((1292-1261)/1261)x100) = 2.5%
Critical Damage: ((44-35)/44)x100) = 20.46%
So the overall change is minimal.
You people are tiresome…
It is happening. It is going to happen as they say. Either accept it or find a new game.
/thread.
I’m sure the posters in this thread are aware that it WILL happen, but Anet can still change their rules on how to obtain these ascended pieces and their stat difference… If you don’t speak up and tell someone that they are doing something wrong or make Anet aware that the mass population of their customers have a problem with what they are adding, they will never do anything about it.
They have listened, they have changed the rules, they have added multiple ways of obtaining Ascended items and i bet if they did not listen in the first place they would not be adding the ability to craft Ascended gear too.
The stat differences are already here, that is set in stone and can not be changed, ArenaNet are rushing out the last bits of Ascended gear and making it SUPER easy to obtain, and as there blog post says will focus on traits and skills from now on.

He’s more likely referring to the magic find changes.
MF is going to an account bonus… This is good news for farmers. They can get the same MF bonus as well as do more damage while wearing better gear. So it is unlikely he is complaining about a positive change for farmers…
Champion loot getting boosted…
Dungeon paths being equalized to all be rewarding…
MF being changed to allow you to get good loot while wearing real gear….
New tiers of mats to farm…This is like a farmers dream blog… I honestly have no idea what he could possibly be complaining about unless he was a CoF p1 farmer.
I believe mats will be account bound.
some of them will, but others won’t be. They wanted something crafters to make that was time gated to support long term crafter profitability.
They have to earn a luxury stat that has no effect on their power just like everyone else did?
Showing up for a certain period of time to get a reward isn’t earning it in any meaningful sense. I’m getting about as much of a sense that I “earned” a reward with the reward chests being dumped on me as I get from ANet tossing me freebies for spending money in their gem store or finishing a jumping puzzle with a Mesmer portal.
most achievements in life are time based, just how it is.
Plus these aren’t even time based, you can earn them by salvaging blue drops, just with diminishing returns.
He’s more likely referring to the magic find changes.
