No there is like one underboob armor and its for thief and its human cultural. There are like 3 midriff armors for heavy thats all and none of them are that good. The one that is alright has a better GW1 version, ANET ruind the GW2 version and made it worst. There is 2 norn cultural. I wouldn’t call that plenty. That makes up like 1% of all the heavy armor tops. 2 of which humans can’t use.
The pants that I am wearing are the only heavy pants in the game its sad and they are cash shop.
I do agree that there should be far fewer butt-capes and more pants. I love the pants from the Aetherblade set, and I wish there were more like it. But I personally feel there are a good number of “sexy” tops for heavy and (especially) for light. I do with medium had a couple more, though.

legendaries do provide an advantage, they are top teir gear with stat switching capabilities, i have used it again and again. it gives me an advantage over exotics, and even ascended.but i am including ascended because it is of signifigant time and effort to obtain a full set.

i honestly could care less if guardian is easy to play. thief is also easy to play once you realize your job isnt killing people head on. i just dont like have invisible traps left on nodes or multiple guardians all camping points that no one can push them off of in reasonable time.
The op’s list of things that need to be nerfed is absurd. Clearly he has no idea the severity of those changes he/she wants. Think of it this way, look at the patch notes when they change skills. Usually little changes have enormous results good or bad. Example, guardian getting symbols on sword and scepter. These changes are small, but the result opened up a lot of new builds that people aren’t use to seeing. One thing I learned with GW2 is changes should be very minimal, because they always have a large impact.
actually i think getting rid of defensive amulets was the main thing that let guardians come to life and eles nerf. those are massive changes leading to massive results. not minor.

Player’s are not complaining about DH being op…(ok thieves are but thats the norm.) players are mostly complaining about how SoloQ can stack 3 or 4 DH on one side. Players would need the right comp and/or mmr in their favor but that’s not the case with matchmaking.
If it was only 1 dh per team, there would be less complaint threads.
If it were 2+ DH on a team and 2 Revs/Rangers opposite team, there would be less complaint threads.The nerf x ability items i’m seeing here are incredibly bias and if implemented poorly, would demolish a DH vs players who know what they’re doing.

Portalling between points should not even be a thing you can do.

Because no game company should ever balance a primarily PvE game around PvP, that’s why. Portal and Moa shouldn’t be removed from the game.
@OP portal range is fine at 5,000 its still incredibly useful. The only change I would like to see is to have the portla exeunt icon greyed out when you are over 5,000 units away. Small change that would allow mesmers to know where is too far.
Then deny them usage in PvP.
Mesmer has some broken crap up its sleeve, and Moa is just the most disgusting and powerful abuse of that.
6 seconds every 76-90 seconds, or less than 10% of the time is it even possible for someone to be moad. Even then though they still have to hit you. Its a very powerful skill but it is not gamebreaking by any means, there are much more dangerous skills to deal with in this game than moa.
considering it kills all of necros minions at once and drains their life force completely. in 1 move. its incredibly op.
yesterday i got into a match with noobs who didnt even know you needed to cap home. they thought if you cap mid you win and no other points mattered. they couldnt 3v1 the enemy team and expected me on a thief to carry everything. i tried my hardest but after they lost on mid once they quit. WHY DID I GET MATCHED WITH THESE SCRUBS!!!!
Things that need nerfing:
- elite specs in general
- amount of cc
- burst power/condition dmg
- boons
- invul/evade/block frames
- all AoEs
- traps (all kinds) have to go on cooldown on activation, not skill use, re-using trap skill re-positions the trap(…) I play Daredevil exclusively so I’m leaving that out because of bias, however I genuinely can’t think of anything on it that needs nerfing. Tempest was excluded for obvious reasons.
Spike dmg/unavoidable dmg, 3rd dodgebar, vault. Everything else is fine…
tldr: landing hits shouldnt count nerf damage also remove thieves as 1 good thief this entire season killed me once.
Im sorry but this doesnt make sense. You talk about DH being so OP as well as ranger and engy being OP in the rez game which is a bit true but saying that there is no amount of cleave to stop them? Thats so wrong, especially with the fact that necros using marks that cant be blocked, engy with the moa AOE skill, mesmer with the moa and the huge amount of DPS out there right now.
Good teams will focus on rezzing, if 1 person in a team fight goes for a rez and the other 2 dont its a free kill on top of the down person. I also disagree with stability but it is thrown out as candy so stability shouldnt be a problem for almost every class except thief. Which brings up stealth kills which once again helps killing other players. AOE stealth revives means you as a team must dps the area. You can only go so far.
So i will do what you did, down state is great. Ive made legendary each season and currently using a DPS rifle warrior and a DPS mesmer. Im able to get my kills and i feel it creates great game play.
agreed. if someone goes to rez just start hitting both of them. most classes auto attack is a aoe anyway. you basically get free damage and with most melee you can out dps their healing kill their teamate and leave them heavily damaged. if rezzing is a problem for you its a l2p issue.

I was also forcing the enemy thief to rotate far and mid leaving my team to 3v2 at home and they couldn’t take it. 1 DH sat at far and another mid and thief rotated with me leaving 2 DH’s at home and the other 3 players on my team couldn’t 3v2 because DH OP. I had 1 death and rotated as good as anyone could, they won a 3v2 in mid at start as well because of the massive pressure and sustain they can do

I guess healing on aegis removal and cleansing on block (on a cd) can be considered OP to people who can’t be bothered to check the boons on their targets before they release their bursts.
Yeah, a one second cooldown. Combine that with being able to crack a Shield of Courage multiple times.
Yea twice, and then on a 75s cd until either renewed focus or F3 is back up. But i guess rotating around your target to avoid the frontal cone block is really complicated.

Honestly, if you’re in the average-ish (like most of us) player range and stacked DHs bother you that much, hop on a SR/Smite Power Well necro and watch them melt. Well +Well + Shroud (well crit chance), your unblockable damage will melt them before the average ones have a clue what happened. It’s been pretty easy. Run a Wurm or spectral walk for kiting and you can have a blast. It isn’t just DHs either. Many of the current builds rely heavily on blocks, and this just shuts them down. That said, i’m sure it only works because I’m using them against average-ish people like myself who don’t expect that flavor of burst. Either way, it’s done wonders. And, to make things better, you get to shut the class that is “no-skill” (sic) with another no-skill build.
The ones that don’t die to it are maybe decent players and when they beat you, it isn’t because of their class so much as their mechanical, strategic, and adaptive abilities.
Idk though. I just wanna have fun.

The counter to mender symbolic DH is power rev. Of course the rev has to be skilled to get the kill, but a power rev is the hardest to handle for a DH mender.
dont forget to mention the dh doesnt have to be skilled.

Your suggested nerfs are nothing more then voices of the hundreds of casuals who cry about things not dieng when they are just stupid at the game. As a thief, you shouldn’t be a) fighting DH’s, Wars, Rangers alone. b) running anything but d/p, staff in ranked and c) complaining about requiring nerfs when you can perma-cleave for days.
You have essentially named all of the current best specs and their traits/skills that make them the best. However, what you haven’t named are good player’s in top-tier that play them and show you that they are OP.
In casual play, sapphire division and below you will see that these builds destroy people who obviously have no idea what the dodge keys or immobilize is. Outside of that, you will rarely find good power warriors/dh’s/engi’s in upper diamond/legendary division. With this being said, no salt required. It’s time to start learning how-to not rely on your backstab so much and start innovating.
tl;dr OP is probably just another guy who is salty about getting slain on his thief consistently because he is not willing to innovate and adjust to change.

Well I’m glad to finally see some positive words about the thief. I was beginning to think it was pointless to level him. I think I’ll stick with it, then. Worst case scenario, I hit 80 and wait for a buff from ANet and level my ranger in the meantime.
How are thieves 1v1? I know when I first bought the game and started playing, all I did was PvP and I felt unstoppable against any profession with my thief in a single target combat situation. Get into a group fight, however, and it almost always spelled disaster for me. Is this still the case, or have we gotten weaker 1v1?
FYI, never use the forums as a litmus test for how a class is doing. In general (and this is true everywhere, from consumer reviews of products to how people feel their favorite (pick something) team is doing), those who are happy with it don’t say anything, and those who have an issue will make sure everyone knows it. Just how people are.
the reason he wanted feedback was because its a major timesink. you cannot know the potential of a class until its fully geared at lvl 80 and doing high lvl content.
Simply ANet want to go in e-sport without make the PvP staff able to change skills and able only to manage over amulets and sometimes runes.
They did a good work, now we have no more the pure bunker meta and more or less every class is forced to use something that make them unable to be totally unkillable. But at the same time the devs can’t change the skills, then differet classes now are really strong. An example is the Guardian. Sometimes I read about a “guardian trap buff” but the traps are like before the last 5 patches, nothing changed. Simply the builds are lesser defensive, making the DH able to inflict the insane amount of damage that the traps can inflict, with incredible low cooldown and that enter in cooldown when placed and not when activated, making them able to double-spam they’re traps (when they conquer a point and when you step on them, just the time to come back to fight).
Also the warriors now can unleash a great amount of condition damage and CC just spamming F1, now with increased passive survavibility.There’s not a real way to make that game balanced. That’s why the Trait System itself, the amount of different weapons and combinations every class can use, the elite specializzation. All thing that try to make balance in the chaos but make inly more confusion and pain.
To balance the classes ANet tried to make the Specializzations, forcing some classes to play into specific directions (druid=healer, dh=ranged dps, Tempest=supporter, Bers=melee hybrid dps, and more). But they failed in different ways. In some situations the elite fixed some problems of the main class or increased the power of it, reducing the weakness weight (even making an OP situation like for the chronomancer at the start of HoT). In other situations just added a impossible combination of traits, skills and weapon, like for the necromancer (a pure melee weapon for a class that don’t have any defensive skill, shouts that barely someone use -and after the last nerf you will see only the elite shout, if you’re lucky- and traits made for a perfect condition build, that will never use that shining Greatsword), that use the Reaper basicly for the critical hit chance trait and the Reaper Shroud, a reason why ANet will never make the Death Shroud good or a lor of necros will leave the reaper side to turn back to the necromancer (me at first).
GW2 is good, the pvp is funny (if you don’t ask too much from it) and ANet try everything to be an e-sport, but they’re try will fall just like in the last 3 years.

My favorites are people that afk in matches because i or someone else didn’t switch from thief class to something else. It is just soo classic. Those people grief thief players because dev team did poor design decisions and customer support refuses to do anything about such in game griefing.
i cant understand this. i went from playing necro to doing rather well as a thief. dont try to 1v1 people and just be a +1 in fights so you dont die. works really really well and does very decent damage.
Overwatch is a great game for the strategically challenged. If you’re struggling in PvP, I’d recommend Overwatch to start with and then later you can move back up to Gw2. It’s great for building fundamental team-play awareness because there’s less focus on builds and more on positioning.
Guild Wars2 on the other hand has so many “oh kitten” buttons/passives in each build… you dont need those things to get an average mmr.
Basically, in GW2 you get carried by your build.
people only mash buttons because other people let them. if a guardian uses up all of his blocking skills. you wait you dodge and you wait. then when hes weak you kill him with everything youve got. strategy. if you dont do it right you die. if people dont lose they will never get better.
I’m well aware of clovers being available from both PvP & WvW tracks. That has no impact on what I’m asking.

I’d happily delete moa in favour of an elite skill that turns on friendly fire for a brief time (flags all enemies to take damage from all sources including their teammates) to all enemies in a target area.

Meanwhile all the legendary players can thankfully queue up in other maps because they will be queuing for one game for hours.
and then you get those lovely people who drop tiers on purpose for easy games cause they already have their back piece.
Sure warrior beats out several classes on strait up power 1v1, but it’s week in team fights compared to Necromancers, Scrappers, Mesmer’s, elementalists and Revenants.
This is the same deal with thief, and comes from a lack of team support, and AOE Damage. Luckily for warriors, we have it better than thieves because we have more sustain and can stand up in a group fight. thieves are relegated to Decaping, and Single target DPS.
Sure they are mobile, quick, and great at ganking 1v1. but everything a thief can do right now, a Mesmer can make the entire party do, and a mesmer can actually hold a point if need be.
Yes, thieves are amazing 1v1, but it’s the team that makes the game. Personally i would rather have a warrior in my party than a thief. Warriors don’t get hard countetred by DH, engineer, or a properly played Mesmer.
So yeah. Thieves and warriors are in the same boat. Thieves are just worse off.
warriors are the counter to necros. necros do not kill warriors. they try to hide from them.
If you lose to guardians, you’re just getting outplayed, really. The class is 100% balanced. That’s why solo queuers are only queuing with guardian.
I know you tried to be sarcastic, but turth is class is not 100% balanced it still need some boosts to be competitive at esl levels.
And yes I prefer having dhs in team over newbie players that can’t do a kitten.

Because maybe ANet has decided that while at the time it started was an exploit, but ANet’s decided that the multi-map looting isn’t horrible to the game that they will allow it to continue. Which would make the Auric Basin multi-mapping emergent game play.
If it was an exploit, it would have been fixed or been attempted to be fixed in the last patch. Especially with the patch adding salvage all which makes it less annoying to get tons of loot.
Wrong. ANet’s decision on whether or when to make a change has no bearing on whether or not it is an exploit. An exploit is simply utilizing game mechanics in an unintended way. It doesn’t necessarily indicate that it must be “fixed”. Some exploits are rather minor and just become part of the way the game is played.
Again, there is no sound argument we can make to explain why they would have intentionally designed this one event so that players may participate once, and then receive the rewards multiple times. Thus it IS an exploit. Whether or not it needs to be fixed is entirely up to ANet.

I believe that moa and portal are actually the strongest skills in the game, making mesmer almost a must have in teams.

infact the best RNG thing i’ve gotten was a ghost pepper node from a random bl chest key i found killing ogres in wvsw oneday. which i sold for 80g or something….NOT TAKING INto account the tp fees.
2nd best thing ive found was a gs in ascalon dungeon with celestial stats that was worth 20g last i checked on the TP.
So no luck at all with RNG. Then again I spend most of my time in wvsw…so..ya. when events go down i get the skins and foods i can sell later. like during the super adventure box. i barely did anything. just got a skin for the staff and was taking a break from the game. last week i sold it for 66 gold. didnt cost me a dime to get it. nothing but profit.
It is true if you die off point they often just leave you to slowly die so they can stall. It really is a toxic mechanic that causes allot of frustration for the resurrector, the resurrected, and for the enemy of the res. It is just one of those things that annoys everyone. It is especially painful to go down and have to spend a few seconds sitting helpless before the inevitable finisher happens.
sometimes its great. 1v1 we both go down at the same time and as a necro its a race to who kills who first. other times its me vs 2 and i down both of them only for one to finish me off while the other stuns me for trying to finish him and they both get up when im dead. as if me killing both of them wasnt enough. i get to do it again!

i should mention i use plague signet atm. but getting more than 20 bleed in a entire round is not very common for me unless im facing other necros.
