Originally and ideally, Legendary weapons were to be a badge of honor demonstrating that you have mastered all aspects of the game, not just those parts you want to play while ignoring the rest. Open world PvE, PvP, WvW, dungeons and fractals, everything should contribute some aspect of the Legendary. They got away from this in the years after launch (for example removing WvW maps from 100% map completion and the Gift of Exploration) and being able to buy completed Legendary weapons for gold kind of rendered that whole “badge of honor” thing pointless. So now it’s more a badge of grinding.

But, whichever way you look at it, a Legendary is little more than a pretty skin for your weapon, so if you don’t like the requirements to get one, save up your gold or find a different pretty skin to use.

honestly legendarys lost all their “badges of honor” when i heard about people just buying them with cash.

I think Druids have just a wee too much bunker in them. With a Toughness and Healing Power build, Druids can contest points for the whole match solo. When I’ve been fighting 1 v 1 using my Engi, I get him down to half HP, then poof, full heal. 5 minutes later, I need to call for backup because he just won’t go away. IMO, Druids are more OP than Dragon Hunters.

So I’ll summarize this…

You can’t kill that player using Druid on your Engineer build, but that player can’t kill you either, so that player using Druid is OP… So I guess any profession build that you can’t beat up solo is op?

…How about improve yourself before complaining.

I add, any profession he can beat..it’s balanced….that’s why ele is considered balanced on this forum..they can’t kill you..but you kill them very easily

tbh ive yet to see anyone say ele is balanced. its all agreed that eles need a buff.

Just think, if this was on anything other than rev, both players blowing their highest damaging skills in a row on each other would have resulted in both taking huge damage.

Literally every class except necro can unload major burst damage against an opponent while in some sort of damage immunity.

Mesmer: Blurred frenzy/distortion, plus shatters.
Ele: obsidian flesh.
Engi: Rocket charge, shock shield
Thief: many high damage attacks that also evade
Ranger: Signet of stone
Guardian: shield of courage
Warrior: whirlwind attack and endure pain/berserkers stance

yea because a ton of warriors damage doesnt come from f1 if a condi or 2 if a power. totally.
and how almost all of the classes require 2 skills to match the revs 1 skill

I don’t think anyone posting about this hates the game, in fact GW2 is my favorite game for this kind of pvp. There are many reasons why I think it is fantastic, a big one being the normalized, level playing field in spvp. It really set GW2 apart from every other mmo, which like you say is p2w: there was absolutely no form of p2w in spvp before HoT, it was amazing.

Even now its still by far the best, but disappointing that there is even an element of p2w introduced.

Really funny seeing that but also kind of saddening too. The game has become mostly a rotation game where you run in, do your rotation and then bug out if you’re not winning. I guess a lot of that is muscle memory at that level but still it’s disheartening to see that the game is so faced paced there’s no careful playing and countering.

so i take it you never die then? because if you do then it does take countering and careful playing.

i tried that once. turns out popping all defenses and offenses at the same tame makes it very easy to be blocked and then proceed to burst you down. “keyboard rolling”yeah right

I have realized over time that rather than calling nerfs on one class address what needs to be nerfed for all classes. It is less biased and more accepted. For example:

Elementalists: Diamond skin is pretty powerful and could be shaved.

Thief: They shouldn’t be able to dodge more than 3 times in a row.

Mesmer: Nerf healing on shatter the defender nerf was perfect.

Revenant: Their weapon swap synced with legend swap into Staff skill 5 after being buffed in assassin stance. It one shots people it could be toned down,

DH: All their skills need to have longer cast times so players can react Test of faith should only proc once per use and spear of justice should be blockable as there is no counter for the pull after it hits.

Druid: Shave the healing big time. More aoe less self healing.
Scrapper: They also need less healing more counter-play for there res would be nice too.

Reaper: They have too much aoe condition damage.

Warrior: They do too much condition damage upon interrupting players. They also have too much sustain for their given damage shaving to condition immunity and damage immunity would be nice.

These are issues that need to be fixed. There are things the classes need to balance themselves like necromancer needing more sustain or thief needing more hp. But these are a few pressing issues of many. It isn’t DH alone that is messed up. The whole game favors a button smashing mentality right now.

And that mentality started a long time ago. I don’t agree with the warrior, It can deal a lot of condi, but every class is filled with condi cleanse, besides the reve and the ranger. Therefore it needs the warrior as a counter. It’s a lineback class. It doesn’t deal superior amount of dmg in one sec, and its low mobility allows people to kite away from it and reposition themselves. Warriors’ heal signet is only useful in low dmg fights, where the dmg dealt allows the heal signet to regain itself. If it gets high cleaved, which is what button smashing does, then it needs a “reset” heal, like the other classes.

I don’t understand the problem with the warrior, but maybe because I play it myself and seem to lack the acknowledgement of other peoples thoughts.

I see the warrior at a good position. I dont see it as bad or good.

Warriors dont have mobility, stealth, portals, pulls, high aoe cleave, etc. It has it’s sustain, which will eventually drop if you don’t allow him to take a walk off point and reset himself. It is how it is supposed to be.

Now we ended up discussing warriors.

But I don’t see eles in a bad spot, I might agree with some of the dmg on reve, but I like that it’s like the thief, has a high risk high reward.

The mesmer class just always been weird. I remember once only good people could play the class. Now talented players are forced to play some spam kite bs.

The thing about the druid, is that it’s like the warrior, if it gets focused it will drop. It’s a playstyle I like, which reminds me of gw1, where the monks needed to drop, or atleast get low onskills in order to end team fights.

Reaper have the same issues like they always had, and Anet seem to just give them more dmg, instead of actually trying to fix the low mobility. I imagine some sick movement skills on necro. cite me for this one: A skill called Telepathic Bloodbond that allows to split hp in half. so if x lost 50% hp, y will get 50% hp, and they will teleport to each direction. Nerfing the necros dmg a bit, so it won be able to tackle anyone at the point. But making it as a crazy disengage skill. The downside will be, that if the necro splits his last 5% hp, he kills both his mate and himself by getting a new one on the spot.

This is an idea that I find as a solution, and a new gambreaking advantage.

The price of ecto is down considerably since people figured out how to multi-loot efficiently. Those who AB/ML gain the benefits of selling their rares or ecto; those who don’t get less from selling the ones they obtain through the less-lucrative farms. (The same holds true for other mats; that one is just easier to see in the graphs.)

And again, I’m not arguing this is something ANet needs to post about, let alone address. I’m just saying that there’s plenty of evidence that AB/ML has disrupted the economy.

Druid is one good counter. I needed 20s with a P/P thief, with basi venom this can even be faster. Shure i can´t contenst the point instantly but he dies. With ele I usualy have a lot of fun smashing DH´s. Shure i die fast if there are 2+ and i get cought in traps, which i can avoid 90% of the time. The only thing is i somtimes react to a trap poped by a teammate LoL …
But i agree. The DH stacking is unfun ….

while i dont seem to have much of a issue against dh’s since i learned a bit by playing against and with one. thief taking down a dh? your kittening joking. the dh must be absolute crap then. even the best thief’s i know will switch when it comes to dh because its just not going to happen.

OK let’s be honest then … how is someone looting 20 chests or 200 chests, in an intended loot map, impact you negatively as a player from an economic POV? I’ve already asked this question … I don’t see an answer yet. Again, I see lots of speculation that this is the worst thing for the economy ever … so someone CERTAINLY must be able to tell us WHAT this terrible thing is that is actually ingame …. I don’t mind waiting for an answer …

Until then, yes, I’m going to say it’s jealousy because if you can’t point out a REAL SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE game impact, then what other motive do people have to insist this needs to be fixed?

See, the problem here is this; No, I don’t think Anet intended for people to swap maps to get more access to Grand chests but it is clear that AB was intended to be THE loot map in HoT. Now let’s go a mile high … other than a completely academic argument that it’s ‘not intended’, if there hasn’t been a massive, negative impact on the economy of the game, then what compelling reason does anyone have to fix it? I’m not trying to score internet points here … in a game where Anet wants players to make mats available to each other on the TP to exchange wealth, and included a loot phase in AB to facilitate that, explain to me how it makes sense to nerf MMapping when it achieves that goal? I mean, it’s absolutely ridiculous in the context of the game to pursue it.

the build your own class stuff applys to open world only. in raids and fractals you need a meta build.you seem to want a rev. high skill based esp in pvp and well basically everything you want in a class. decent damage decent healing also check out metabattle.com for the best builds.

HoT increased an over abundance of AoE CC.

But the increase in stability access, especially the ticking kind, is what’s truly over the top.

HoT ruined interrupt builds.

The CC you’re being hit by is spammed aoe cc. Or you’re like to play the classes without stability.

I think the current average is something like 1 every two weeks? It’s actually not uncommon to develop a stash. Anyone who does daily fractals knows the pain of holding onto 4 glove boxes or something along those lines.

I’ve been doing the fractal daily whenever I’m not swamped with schoolwork and have a decent sized stash considering I’ve only been playing an average of an hour a day the past month.

I’m currently sitting on

  • 1x selectable armor box from wvw
  • 2x Coats
  • 1x Shoulder
  • 3x Leggings
  • 4x gloves

I have 3 full sets of ascended armor and only crafted one of those to run fractals. The only thing I’ve had to really craft are the weapons and aqua breathers and most of those were just because I was bored.

I however get it, I have a lot of friends who are still trying to get to T4. I think the random boxes are good way of stopping fractals from spilling out full sets of ascended armors. I would like a way to convert the boxes for ones I can use, but I honestly can wait a month or so to finish a new set.

ive been doing dailys and only have done like a week of t3’s. honestly grinding my first full set of ascended has been a major pain esp when the insignia alone costs 70 gold. its not even that i need ascended “kinda do for raiding though” but id like to get a decent drop for once. maybe a exotic or 2?

It’s silly to put spvp behind a paywall. It’s a bad idea commercially and narrows the gameplay.. I’ve written several threads on this and won’t be repeating myself here.

Why do PvP players deserve to play this game for free, while PvE and WvW need to pay for it to play it?
That’s absolutely ridiculous, either all pay or none, period.
Players who bought HoT play the most recent version of the game, the game will obviously be balanced around them, and not around the F2P players who think it is in their right to leech of off others who bought the game.

Then the solution is simple, HoT and free players should be split away from each other.

I hope free players don’t experience horrendous queue times and get a bad impression on game population.

I can’t agree it is a terrible idea. What is a terrible idea is that F2P players gets roflstomped because they don’t have the elite specs. They’re better off leaving sPvP with a bad impression from queue times than from pay2win.

The counter to DH, particularly medi trapper is power rev.

i would like to mention warrior counters dh fairly well also. if you play around the traps and blocks and his team doesnt outnumber you. ill wreck a single dh all day on my power warrior. as ive always agreed stacking is the issue. moreso with gaurdian than any other class atm

Any change to the meta in AB is going to come with collateral damage. Some people will be unhappy and some of those will leave. Probably not as many as threaten to leave.

On the other hand, it’ll mean more people doing other metas, like TD and VB, which would make some of us happier and, in my opinion, would be worth it in the long run.

The AB meta is something that’s been going on for too long. It really doesn’t help the game as a whole. It helps the types of people that can farm the same event over and over again because it’s profitable. I submit that’s not a majority of the playerbase.

As long the AB meta pulls people from other areas of the game, it’s a problem that needs addressing in my opinion.

Not really. You can do the TD and VB meta while the AB meta is not active. Besides, I seen tons of people playing TD and VB meta just yesterday.

The AB meta fills multiple maps, at least five or six.

When was the last time you saw five servers doing either VB or TD?

Irrelevant, the amount of server doesn’t really matter. If at least one server is doing it, then I can play VB and TD meta when it pops up. And I always see at least one server doing it.

Right now, people can still play TD/VB meta off AB meta hours. Even if AB multimap loot gets nerfed, TD and VB meta won’t magically get more people.

Most of the time. Not always. I was on a TD map yesterday that didn’t have enough people to do the meta. I was there early. It was the only map advertising.

Sure if you’re in the US or you play normal hours for your server, it might be like that, but I can assure you it’s not always like that.

And none of that is actually AB’s fault. TD and VB will not get more people if you nerf AB.

In your opinion. The only way to really know is if it happens. There’s no way to know.

The bottom line is not everyone just does meta event after meta event. Some people do a meta event and run off to do other stuff.

For people that do meta events constantly, they might think other people are the same. But if a person does only one meta event, maybe two, they’re not likely to choose less profitable ones.

It is not a opinion. Because the meta does not overlap with each other at all.

That’s a single factor. However, you’re also assuming that a person is going to spend their in game time doing metas. Not everyone really enjoys metas. In fact, I’m one of those people.

Even though metas don’t happen at the same time, It’s highly unlikely I’m going to do more than two metas a day if that. Usually I’ll only do one meta.

At that point I have to choose which meta I do. Now, if one meta is more rewarding than the others, and I was interested in rewards, that’s the meta I’d do. I’m not driven primarily by rewards, but I know people who are. They log in, just at the time the AB meta is going, and then they have other things to do in real life.

They could log in and do other metas, it’s not like they can’t, but they have to choose. I’m going to do one meta. It’s going to be AB.

If more people do it, it has more chance of success. Why take a risk on other metas. You can get one that succeeds most often, with the most loot. Why bother with the other metas at all…unless you need specific currency.

I know too many people in game who use this kind of logic. These other metas have a higher chance of failing so I’m not going to waste my time. And why do more people do TD?

If you don’t think it’s because it has the most profit, I’m not sure what else to tell you.

The schedule only matters if a person can’t choose when to log in. But some people do one meta and jump into WvW for the rest of the time. Or PvP. Or work on achievements.

Most of those people will most likely choose the most profitable meta, that has the highest chance of success.

so nerfing ab will magically make people do metas they dont actually want to do? you havnt really thought this argument through have you?

Crazy thought here guys, Rotate around the DH? or use skills that trigger traps, like Rev hammer. rangers send there pets in Ele, use the Earth f4 skill. I’m sure there are more. Guards are slow, so it’s easy to out rotate a team stacked with them.

Also if the person playing Guard is better at playing guard than you are playing the class you are playing, then you’ll lose no matter what.

Not all the guard problems are down to the class being “OP”, it’s down to you not being as good as you think you are.

honestly id love to rotate around the dh. when the traps dont take up the entire point and forces me off it or else dead.

It stands to reason that if the blocks didn’t change, then something else must have that is actually the cause of your complaining.

Why Making SPVP P2W?

I’m gonna chime in here with my lame opinion and say that Anet should probably implement two different queues for sPvP. One for core/f2p players and the other for HoT players. They can put two little options for you to tick, so if you wanna queue up on vanilla mode, or if you wanna queue up with the HoT expansion You got your options there.

The way I see it, the game ain’t Pay-2-Win but the expansion has brought in some nasty power creep due to the new skillsets and traits and when new players coming in and having their first go at spvp it’s probably gonna be a pretty sour experience for them. I can’t speak for them, but if I were F2P trying out spvp for the first time only to get destroyed by Trap DH’s or tickled to death by bunker Druids and finding out that they’re behind kitten paywall I’d probably under the impression that it’s P2W because of the power creep that HoT has introduced.

Of course there’s the option of nerfing the elite specs to be more into line with the core classes, but that’s probably gonna tick ALOT of people off. You could buff the core classes to be more in line with the elite specs but that’s just only going to indirectly buff the elite specs as well. I’m under the impression that trying to balance both Vanilla and HoT pvp wise would be some sort of nightmare considering when there’s a few elite spec skills that are just outright superior versions of vanilla skills.

TL:DR, just implement two different queues for spvp. Vanilla and HoT queues for you to choose at your own discretion, that way nobody gets locked into anything. It’ll keep everyone happy and it’ll make balancing alot easier I feel.

Wouldnt a perma rev-orb be pay to win?
Im saying that because the orb lets you revive in fractals where normal people wipe.
I distinctly remember almost wiping on a jellyfish battle in tier 4, followed by one guy using an orb in time and rezzing us all.

true a perma might be way too powerful and well im waiting for raids to start requiring them to join at all.

How does looting Multi AB maps makes you rich… even 1 meta gives a ton of loot that vaporizes into low tier stuff you don’t need, just the wood is okay.
Start of with some shiny purple and gold chest.. click click.. then you get the satchels and boxes (epic) click click..then you get the green stuff.. click click.. oh great some moar silk scraps etc.. it vaporizes into low tier stuff that sells x250 for 50 silver wow!.
Loot a hundred maps for all i care.. loot is just horrible in this game.
Chop and Mine Sparkfly Fen / Maelstrom for 1 hour and you make 8 to15 gold.. see what im saying.. META rewards are bad.

Loot may be horrible in this game, but there’s a reason we’re discussing AB multimap. The effort to reward ratio is off the charts compared to similar content and indeed anything else in the game (except perhaps TP trading for those with sufficient resources).

I don’t care much about the economy. I figure that will balance itself out. I’m much more concerned with a game that leaves such obvious exploits in place when it can lead to nothing other than the feeling that most of their content is unrewarding.

How else CAN you feel about it, if we’re being honest? How can the chak gerent feel “rewarding” when it provides next to nothing for a win and has a much higher rate of failure? With AB multi so far and away more rewarding than any other content in the game, everything else is comparatively less rewarding.

I expect that sentiment to grow as AB multi continues. Because let’s face it, running AB this way is in no way challenging. The reason players do it is purely for the rewards. And if those rewards start to feel unrewarding, what does it say about all of the other content which doesn’t even come close?

the argument you have here is “loot everywhere else sucks so nerf ab cause its loot is too good” what about buffing the other places to stay in line? or at least a little bit. i cant even finish my dungeon achievments because no one does them. will nerfing ab help that? nope.
