Usually when i lose several matches in a row, i just sit down and eat a snickers instead of making a thread about it.

Instead of acting babylike you could as well bring up valid arguments why you don’t agree.

I wanted to avoid making you look silly but if you insist:

Assuming that metabattle even encompasses all viable builds that can be played in pvp right now (a kittenumption), these are the following high scoring builds (high scoring being anything gold rated or higher) on that site:

elementalist: 1
engineer: 2
guardian: 2
mesmer: 1
ranger: 2
revenant: 1
necromancer: 3
thief: 2
warrior: 2

If we lower our standards to silver level, the build variety rises even higher. Now, the question you need to ask yourself is: what arbitrary number of viable builds are you demanding must exist to quell the pointless hunger that dwells inside you?

warrior actually has 3. condi build power build and hybrid.and ive seen eles do good with 2 different builds. one is more offensive the other is team support. though good eles are few and far imbetween.

Take a boss like Matthias for example; his mechanics enforce certain aspects (most notably reflects) that are simply not available to some professions. So, if you have a Chrono, you know you’ll be in for Matt because you have the definitive reflect skill (Feedback), to the point people might even overlook your lazy everything else. If you have a Revenant however, you have no reflect skills whatsoever, and the group needs to count only on your damage, if even (same with Necro that doesn’t even have damage). So there you have it, a meta enforced purely mechanically with no ways of being fixed by balances, because every Necro and Rev has 9 out of 10 spots to fill while a Chrono will definitely fill that last 1 spot every single time (or does anyone use dagger storm or wall of reflection for this?). Not trying to dwell into whether this is right or wrong, but it is there, and it is a depart from the whole rest of the game, even fractals.

If the group doing Matt takes the Chrono only for Feedback, they are doing it wrong. Even if Chronos didn’t have Feedback they’d be in every single team anyway.

The main problem with diversity is that we don’t have clear roles. For example, in many other games you can go and make a team and ask for a Tank, a Healer or a DPS, but the specific build that will fit the spot is rather open in most cases. In Guild Wars 2 you are not asking for a tank, you are asking for a Chrono tank, you are not asking for a Healer, you are asking for a Druid healer, you are not asking for Offensive Support, you are asking for a PS Warrior, you are not asking for DPS, you are asking for a DPS Tempest, you are not asking for Condi DPS, you are asking for condi Rangers and so on.

And that’s the main problem with the diversity in the game. I think the best option for the game would be to open up roles to multiple builds.

Currently we have the following Healers: Tempest, Druid and Herald, why not making sure all 3 of them are excellent and can compete with each other?

I know Warriors and Mesmers won’t like this, but why not give more builds the ability to get 25 stacks of might so a PS Warrior isn’t a must have in Raids? Why not give to at least one more build the ability to give Alacrity and a good Quickness uptime? Not to everyone, but at least TWO different builds should give the same buffs, keeps them unique enough, and opens up role slots for more diversity.

I don’t want to see “LF Druid” or “LF Chrono”, I want to see “LF Healer” and “LF for Quickness/Alacrity buffer”. It will be a huge step towards diversity.

Ask for a ROLE and not a specific BUILD

as a berzerker main i dont think any of us will care if you nerf our might stacking and give other classes that ability. just make us competitive with our DPS. thats all i care about. being competitive. i dont want my warrior to be treated like my necro and rev. complete cancer that wont be brought.

I remember it happening in Skyhammer. It’s been a long time since I did Conquest and only happened once or twice. In stronghold there are plenty places you can go before it starts to avoid that.
Never actually realised there was a reason behind it like trying to prevent changing equipment or utilities. Is this becoming a common strategy where people attack the base intentionally trying to prevent the other team from changing or just a couple of one off base attackers doing it just to show they can rather than consciously trying to prevent change?

The issue is that no one wants to take 2 minutes to explain the encounter. I’ve seen encounters fail with just a 5 man group in fractals because no one wants to explain anything to someone that is new.

Could just say a few times in chat, “all octovines need to die at the same time, so we gotta wait for the others to catch up”

a lot of times the farming guilds im in do that. then again i rarely see maps fail. usually theres only 5 or 6 maps max nowadays.

Celestial should never come back. However, it is crazy they got rid of all the other amulets they did. Its so boring honestly, shuts off so many potential builds.

If they want to ban amulets for their esports (that nobody watches) then go ahead.

I would prefer throw gunk to just have a larger AoE radius. The reason why it’s so weak is likely because Engies are supposed to hardcounter teefs. Their numerous revealing skills also supports this idea. Despite this, a good staff teef eventually beats a scrapper.

I would love to have celestial back on ele…but i would hate this game if Mesmer and Druid also had again celestial….

Cele Ele ranks as one of the most broken builds in PvP in recent history.

Wrong – only for amber level players. It had it’s counters so you can’t say it was broken.

LOL yeah right amber players. So last year when 4 Cele Ele + rez bot (I mean thief) won an EU weekly pro tournament it was all against amber players. oookkkkkk.

Must be nice to look at history through warped glasses. It was broken plain and simple.

I’m someone that is having an especially hard time getting in raids because I’m guildless and didn’t learn the encounters when they were new. Making legendary armor possible to attain outside of raids would benefit me greatly.

Having said that, it makes sense to me why it is only attainable in raids. Outside of living story where you fight actual dragon, raids is supposed to be where you fight the strongest villains. So killing those villains should offer something unique.

Also, I think it’s intended to make more people want to raid. But the issue with that is that it is hard to get started if you haven’t done the fights and don’t have enough legendary insights to join pug groups, and don’t have a guild. And also, balance is an issue because everyone is trying to mirror the meta comp.

So I think legendary armor is fine being a raid exclusive, but Anet needs to balance the game better so more people can actually get into raids. Make boons share up to 10 people, instead of 5, in just PvE. And give every class a competitive dps build.

i help lead a guild thats getting new players into raid with no experience. pm or mail me in game if your on NA for a inv. this goes to anyone having issues. (shameless self advertising i know)

Not like it is as advantageous as some people think because if something happens mid-macro a skilled player can more easily adapt to the new situation rather than having a macro you can’t cancel out of in a long skill chain.

Someone already pointed out the cast time/after cast vs button presses. Good. That is definitely a factor.

this after you realize whats going on just dodge it next time and then its ezpz they are on cooldown and a free kill.

Those who do “industrial forging” can end up being 5000 gold in the hole before getting a precursor. The wiki’s article on the forge has some decent estimates of the drop rates.

to add a personal experience i dropped 120 gold and got dawn once. i proceeded to spend 1k gold trying to get dusk and got nothing.

well im writting a comment from a new player’s perspective here. my gw’s age is 70days so yea. im not here to join the debate and i havnt properly participate in VB SW DT etc i do AB the most pretty much everyday. like i said.. i havnt played more than 2months but guess what. Ive got Twilight without spending a cent ( real money i mean). I read every comment and my opinion is.. AB deserves to get nerfed. New players like me can get one of the most expensive and popular items in 2 months just by doing AB multi ? i dont think it was designed in this way. now im crafting my Flameseeker and im waiting the halloween events are end so i can craft it in about coupe of weeks.

Note: i think it roughly took 3weeks for map completion and WvW reward. i bought all the rest mats. Easy

Legendary Light Armor Set style

As cool as the idea of blooming flowers for a light armor set sounds, I don’t believe it’d be a prudent move to make any of the legendary armor racial in nature. I’ve already seen some complaints about how many plant-themed weapons and outfits there are in the game, and that’s just from random gem store additions. I can’t imagine how many people would be ticked off if their only option for a legendary armor was a plant theme.

Human-themed armor is basically the entire game outside of the other races’ cultural armor, so I wouldn’t really classify the heavy armor set as “human cultural”.

That’s what human by default means. By default most things in the game are Human styled. That doesn’t mean it’s not Human. It’s just the default. This is actually invisible to a lot of people because it is the default. They don’t see armor or architecture and think, “ohh, this is human”. But they do notice right away if it’s not human. This is what you call Human privilege, and it is invisible to people who are used to and/or okay with everything being Human. So because Human themes occupy most of the game, that doesn’t make it any less Human. It is the default, and everything shouldn’t default to human. Because there are 5 races in this game.

I think that Legendary Armor being tied with the Raids is a skillful example of players manipulation from ANet’s part.

The main issue here is not why the Armor is tied with something, but Why after one year from the launch the promised Armor is not ingame?

Or we could take off the tinfoil and realize that the delay is likely caused by Anet having to divert resources into developing Living World content in addition to whatever early development they are doing on the next expac.

So the thing that should have been ready for the last expansion is delayed because now they need the resources for the next expansion? Sounds funny

Only a minority of players want legendary weapons. Most players want new content to play.

Living Story adds new content for pve players to play

When ANet realized that they may end up losing more players by not shifting focus to the Living Story than they would keep by focusing on the legendary weapons, they changed gears.

They had to choose between two evils. Neither choice was a good one. So they had to choose the one that impacted the game negatively the least.

How do you know they weren’t just pressing mulitple buttons at once?

You can usually pick out someone who’s pushing buttons at a rate beyond possibility.

An example would be a player who is doing like 4 button strokes instantaneously. Back in the day the fresh air eles who macro the entire burst chain you could easily spot.

An easy spot is a rev who changes legends and throws up 3 or more buffs the the same time in the middle of a fight.

Is it too hard to believe that the rev can’t press three little mouse buttons at the same time while pressing a weapon swap on his keyboard?

while dodging strafing and using defensive skills….yes

I’m not talking a fast push I’m talking 3 buffs at the same time while doing all that.

ill believe it when i see a video of it. until then im calling bs

Then, this means that The Mad king either doesnt love me for not falling to his tricks or there is something very fishy, since :

- Got 2 fragments by unintentional participation(10 mins AFK in LA at TP);
- Went with the same character 2 hours later, with the intention to get the remaining fragment, got the event Gold and Karma reward, but no chest with fragments;
- Then i went with another character 2 hours later, since i thought its character participation limit, got Karma and Gold reward and STILL no fragment…

I really dont get it.
So, its either you are mistaken or just the game hates me
Edit : Or not just me, since i heard from at least 5 more people, that they have the same problem.

You are limited to getting 3 key fragments per day. It doesn’t matter if they come from teh same event or from doing the event multiple times, but once you hit 3 key fragments in one day you can’t get anymore

Raid Diversity is now Dead

No balance to any class will change the game breaking mechanic of quickness and might. You can do whatever you want, but unless you simply take away everyone’s ability to maintain 25 stacks of might (all alone, 1 person in 10 can do this by him or herself!) and 100% quickness uptime (2 person in 8 is all it takes, I mean yeah what?!) then some classes will always be absolutely necessary and others will always be absolutely unnecessary. Because you now have a situation where that swinging hammer guardian actually doesn’t have to give up on speed, while that super fast hitting Shiro Rev is just as normal paced as everyone else with 100% quickness uptime. And let us not even dwell on the topic of classes that have no ways at all of competitively being either power or condi if they chose so, like necro.

honestly id like to know 1 thing a warrior can do without might generation. you want to kick us out of the meta too?

Druids healing more manageable now?

About the healing, just a small comparison what some classes are capable of:

Druid heals per sec with 0 healing power (cast times taken into consideration):
573 hp/sec
Druid heals per sec with 1050 healing power (menders amu):
869hp/sec
Warrior heals per sec with 0 healing power:
877 hp/sec

To druid I counted “We heal as one” , “Rejuvenating Tides” and “Lunar Impact”. All of druid healing skills can be interrupted.
To war I counted healing signet and andrenal health x3.

And just for the druid dmg. Take a war with 2,6k+ defence, which is able to dodge twice (spike barrage and smoke assault) and try to get him low on heatlh, such war will mostlikely outheal all the druid dmg.

So, was the druid really so OP? Probably yes. Did druid need a nerf? Probably yes. But there is at least another 8 builds of other classes which are OP the same way the druid was. Were are the nerfs?

how can the warrior heal so much with the healing signet? because that signet alone sure doesnt do it.

Yes they are viable, they are just less faceroll and lost less build diversity.

to go into more detail revenant is the class with something for almost any situation. learn to use all the skills well and manage energy with cooldowns and youll do great

I love how the community wants it both ways. There’s one faction that said boosters were overvalued and worthless drops from BL Chests. Now that they replace it with a seasonal item, you have another faction saying that boosters were useful and are worth the 100ish gems.

What is wrong with elite specs being on same level as core. It would mean you would have choice of still playing elite or play core = build variety. Nobody says elite specs should be nerfed to the level of being unviable.

having to completely start over on balance is the reason anet will not do this. its a pipe dream involving too much work for a pve balance team. let alone the fact that pve content (raids and t4 fractals) would become insanely hard if the balance wasnt split. and they wont do that because it would take quite a bit of coding and extra work balancing. in other words. give up.

Can’t believe someone can’t acquire 200 thick sections a day. Oh that’s right, lets not spend any coin to get what you need.

People like getting direct rewards for actions performed in game. It’s much more satisfying to slay a monster for what you need than to RP a lumberjack and trade logs for it instead.

This isn’t a hard concept to understand.

You do get loot for killing things, though. Events, Bosses, Fractals, dungeons, and all kinds of heroic stuff gives you loot to sell. In fact, just about any activity in this game does.

This game is hands down the cheapest, loot-stingiest, least imaginative (in terms of types and sorts of loots and their powers) of any game I have ever played.

It is clearly designed to maximize profit, minimize hands-on balancing and programming, etc. Customer satisfaction, and “fun” aren’t even on the radar beyond lip service.

If you consider a pro league player and a dueling specialist who has won several community dueling tournaments “mid tier” then you should probably look up what mid tier actually means.

You don’t need to be top tier to enter pro league in NA atm, (same could be said about eu, but far from the same degree)

the key term here is “won” anyone can enter not anyone can win.

I think the biggest issue with Revenant is how swapping legends sets their energy to 50. Remove that feature and they may actually have to watch their energy more…

so cooldown plus energy management plus slow as hell regen? i dont see how that could possibly go wrong.

Banners did not receive any changes apart from a minor change to the stats years ago. Makes me believe that they will receive some rework eventually. All of us know the problems with banners in PvE, not even mentioning PvP or WvW.
Doubt PS warriors will leave the meta unless they outright force us by cutting down banners, EA and PS simultaneously. A nerf to banners alone would not change anything.

the question you need to ask if what else could we bring to the table (tl:dr nothing) that other classes cant. if the only thing we can bring gets nerfed well just stop getting used. kinda like revs.

Most of the classes are dangerous if left free casting. Necros are not focused because they are that dangerous. They are focused because they are vulnerable to cc’s and easy to kill with little focus. Only defenses 2 dodges, 33% damage reduction and some plus health “IF” they have some Life Force that also degenerating + you tanking incoming damage so enemy almost instantly can get you out of shroud. In those matches shroud skills are completely useless it only works to soak up some of the incoming damage. Other than that you can have Flesh Worm after port almost any class can catch you that is not necromancer if they really want to zerg you.

As opposed to now when Anet will devote months of resources to something a minority would have. Someone is always going to complain. I’m complaining right now. It doesn’t make me right. It doesn’t make Anet do it.

The question is which group is larger and which, according to Anet has the most valid complaint. Saying we shouldn’t ask for something because another group my complain is pretty much a pointless exercise, because right now, there’s a group that’s complaining.

Deal with the idea that it’s not going to change and start doing raids. We didn’t see any of these topics up until Lege heavy armor trailer was released. Anyone can do raids, it’s not difficult to defeat any of the boss at all. Other players have proven you can 6-man almost every boss with decent gear. All it requires is time and effort. You don’t have that? Tough luck, legendary armor is not for you. It’s the ultimate prestige item in GW2 and it’s not going to be handed like legendary weapon and backpiece candies. Freebie players like yourself will be glad to know lege armor wont be out for another 3-4 months. You have plenty of time to get required 150 LI. Gd Luck.

basically your saying according to arena nets thoughts on what raids should be that raids need to be buffed and become even more difficult. RAIDS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A MINORITY. which means this armor that they spent a ton of time on is supposed to only be owned by less than 10% of the population. gg anet.

On the contrary, stuff like that is bad for the game, too. There’s really no good solution that’s going to satisfy everyone.

People who do epic stuff in the game reasonably expect epic rewards. But people who are dedicated to the game also expect epic rewards. It’s hard to accommodate all play styles. I do think ANet made a tactical mistake tying the first legendary gear to content they were certain would be rejected by many, but having made that decision… I think it would be a worse mistake to reverse it.

I would like to see them stop offering new thing in raids first (e.g. new infusions with auras, hard-to-find stats, etc) and find a way to spit out new content to PvE faster, even if it’s just stuff like Modus Sceleris (I think the cats-at-home hunt shows we’re ready for it now).

theyve been doing it all this time. with weapons and backpacks being legendary. wvw players complained constantly that they had to put in more work than someone who farmed sw to get the gold for a weapon. but hey thats just life.

I caught a rumor this may be based on having some graphics set to low. Not sure if that applies to your case, but you might want to report this error to the bug thread.

animation yes it was. they removed the outfit temp. it wasnt just preview either anyone wearing it would crash you too. i had 2 characters locked down until i could find a char to raise my setting.

I"m not saying it shouldn’t be a component of raids. I’m saying there should be an alternate route besides raids. The raid component wouldn’t have to change at all.

If there was another route to get them, people from all sides would be in here kittening about how “other route” has it easier and how Anet is clearly personally discriminating against them.

1v1 a condition chrono?
DH destroys them if you know how to play. Can survive easily as long as you spam traps, symbols and blocks since they cleave out clones in less than half a second.

Know how to play DH… lol, sadly its the only dumb way we have to play with that class.. besides poop traps… useless.
A decent mesmer will not fall for trap poop spam…

He’s talking about traps for killing clones, which is valid since shatter is a good portion of chrono’s offense.

From OP’s post history, looks like he favors warrior, which to be fair is not in a great place for 1v1ing a meta chrono at equal skill level.

only condi. power warrior with a greatsword is amazing at killing clones the second they spawn.

An experienced player can do it between 20-24 hours on average depending on the class. Someone claimed to have done it just under 16 hours within the past month but I call BS on that.

considering someone has done it in 19 previously 16 hours isnt that far off.

Well you are wrong on some of the things you say though.

First plague sending isnt the only “condition removel” trait necros have. There is also spiteful removel (which is kinda bad since you need an opponent with 25% health or less), shrouded removel (it is actually a good trait but sadly not good enough to make deathmagic viable for non mm builds) and of course necromatic corruption (which needs minions do to anything). And the best part is they all work in shroud.

Second consume conditions isnt the only condition removel skill. Well of power (which is not that amazing) and grim specter (tied to Lich) are also true condition removel skills (aka work without targets).

To be clear most of the things i listed wont do you much good in a match but you know… only because traits/skills arent viable for whatever reason it may be, it doesnt mean they dont exist.

Honestly making deathmagic more viable as a traitline for non mm builds would probably help alot. But for that soul comprehnsion needs a rework into something useful and probably some number changes to unholy sanctuary (the healing is pitiful).

Talk about traits or skills no one will ever use and the lich form is pointless.
If I play as a MM there’s the trait that grant me to senc condis to my minions but also it’s another condi transfer, not a condi clean (you transfer condi to your minions, but if you don’t have them it don’t work, as if you don’t hit the enemy).

I can tell you that guardians have the Spirit Bow to clean a Lot of conditions and heal AoE, then they had not to die against any condi build. But no one will ever use a spirit weapon on a guardian why they’re really terrible (expecially in PvP).

As Active or Viable skill/trait there’s only the Heal Consume Conditions that really clean conditions from you, and is one of the healing skill with the longer casting time ever, making it really easy to interrupt with all the CC in the game. There’s also the well, but basicly no one use it why there’s better skills.

Well it is still wrong to say necros (or any profession) dont have certain things when they infact have them but they are not viable for some reason. I think we should be more precise about such things.

balancing around nonviable builds is also wrong.

classes that cant wipe a entire 5man if left alone for a few seconds? all of them can. guess that means necro is balanced huh.calling necro barely good is about as dishonest as you can get. necro is amazing. i love playing it. did you just say necro doesnt have good condi clear? now i know your just straight up lieing. my necro has 3 full condi clears. 1 on staff and 2 in skills. super easy to use all of them and 1 of them has no cast time. you also said necro has no good condi. dude get out with that. necro is the best condi class to date.

In truth I was talking about when in Shroud and how easy is for every kind of class/build to burst us out of it… (just read better next time, please)

Out of the Shroud we have the staff, the signet and the heal (plus the PS by the trait if you use course). I don’t even talk about the well because no one use it for his high CD and slow effect (still if it’s good in team fight). in shroud you can have the PS trait but it’s not an active skill and can work whenever you crit, becoming useful or barely useful depending on the situation and your luck.

Also is true that the necro have only a single condi clean skill (Corruption Heal), that is the only way to clean conditions for a necro. If not with that skill, you Need to hit someone and if he dodge,block,blind,invulnerable you miss the condi transfer and your few chances to remove that pain from you. That is a condi clear mechanic that is specifically of the necromancer and frequently grant us some troubles. But also is the better way for a necromancer to obtain condition damage why our condi output without the RS5+4 is really low if compared to other classes.

I’m not the best necro ever but I know what I’m talking about.

my apologies for not reading well. i will concede the point that necros should start the match with some life force. it only seems fair.but to say necros arent viable (as many necros here claim) is just untrue.not that you have claimed that. but many have.
