Play for Free Confirmed [merged]

I don’t know if this thread qualifies for merging with the main one, if that is the case please feel free to merge it.

First i’d like to congratulate the Anet team for this great choice of making the game F2P with restrictions.

And in this case after some testing i can say that Anet did good. Allowing new players to play the game for free is a great idea to push the community and the game.
At first i was worried about bots and gold sellers but after reading the faq and some test i can say Anet gave a long thought to this option. As F2P:

  • There is no chance the gold you earn you will be able to directly move it between accounts.
  • There is no chance you can spam other ppl with RTM in mapchat.
  • F2P will be able to enjoy the game to it’s fullest. Other than some limits about the areas you can go depending on your level there is no other real limitation.
  • Whisper will only be allowed if you and the F2P account have each other as a friend, so no spam allowed.

So there is not actually a real reason why other players would complain about this decision other than greed and try to push the company to give discounts or goodies. Ok i would say but that’s low for my standards.

Now some concerns that i have about the F2P accounts and TP.

  • Is is possible to sell mats for a fixed price and then buy them with a paid account?

For example: powerful blood mat T6 is about 80 silver. Minimum price is 16 copper.
So in my paid account i order 999 of those at 45 copper, a random number to make it difficult to coincide with other buyers.
Then my free account sells those mat for that exact price so i get them really cheap and sells them later for more adequate price to get profit.

I mean, with free accounts something that usually happens is the proliferation of bots something that may or may not be easily spotted. Someone could have like 7 bot accounts just farming and 1 paid account to get the profit.
Although that wouldn’t affect much in short term, in long term would make the instances crowded with bots that wouldn’t help with the dynamic content or the community-

Would be possible to play the system this way? if that so, would could it be possible to avoid?

Spirits now more pointless than ever

in Ranger

So you’re saying rangers shouldn’t have the option of having an area denial build because it would make us less adaptable? That makes no sense. The very idea of being an adaptable profession implies we can fill a multitude of different roles depending on what sort of kit we bring. Rangers can build themselves to suit their current need, be that a mobile roamer to hunt enemies down or a warden protecting our territory from intruders. That is adaptability.

No, we are not guardians or warriors we don’t have the sustain nor the skills set to be able to hold point for long. Saying that the traps is because we can do that is wrong, Traps are a very bad skills, their damage is really low and to use them you have to loose Sharpening Edges and at least one possible cleanse.
You will not be ever ever at the same level of any guardian or warrior at defending point neither at melee the class is not designed for long fights.

Spirits likewise are baseline immobile and always have been, even have in GW1, which suggests they were designed to be effective while stationary. Rangers were conceptualized and designed with two sets of utility skills that emphasize a low mobility style of play.

Yeah unfortunately the Ranger in GW2 has nothing to do with the fantastic ranger in GW1. And the traps are really awful skills compared to survival or even the shouts.

As far as mobile spirits, I’ve used spirit builds off and on for a long time. Before the trait overhaul the main thing stopping me from enjoying them was the mobility of the spirits. They make TERRIBLE followers. They make erratic movement choices when you are in combat and tend to get obliterated by cleave and random AoE if you so much as think of standing on point with them.

In this we agreed. If you pretend to use the ranger as a warrior and get in the middle of the zerg they will die. Same as you.
I used to have an spirit ranger before the massive nerf in the spirits and they were great.

  • Because they followed you i could cast the active skill strategically when i needed, instead being forced to stand still in one corner.
  • Because the cast the active ability when killed or expired it was very helpful if you got in the middle of a blob.

So YES, mobile spirits, bring them back with no time expiration. So we can have some utility/support for the group instead this bad joke where some ppl theorize about how great could be to put them in the top a mountain while we fight in the valley and get all the benefits from them.

And i don’t want to think that the only reason that Anet made them static is because that way there are not that many objects in game and they cramp up more players in one instance, because on the opposite of the minis the spirits can’t be hidden due the rising population

All-round ranger build for any game mode.

Looks like a fun Hybrid build, but it’s in no way comparable to what i run like you said O_O
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNAT8XjUqQDL2yCesAXLG4EK/vHgD/fhFPx7htvDgCWdA-T1CEABWp0IKlIxpbggLAQiq/slSQmUGVz+DG8AAA4IA8wBBIAwBglXe5lXe5IFgZatA-w
this build is neither glassy (nearly 3k armor and lots of protection + 250 hp/sec reg) NM/BM/WS offer a lot of survivability on their own (try it, your build will feel squishy as hell in comparison :P), nor do i try to get in “some conditions”, it’s a pure power build. it’s just refined Toxins to reduce my enemies healing .

No, you don’t get 250hp/sec with regen, you get 160. That is not far away from what you can get with mine (130hp/sec). Just read the tool tips at the bottom that gives you an accurate numbers per stack. Indeed not talking about food, my build don’t have any applied.
If we get off the food of your build because my numbers are without any food or boon, you end up with 2.8K amor against my 2.6K armor. Crit damage 185% against mine of 164%. Even with that you have like 150 points of power less than mine so i think the difference is even less. And more than 2K hp less. And no condition damage.

With 16K hp your margin of 90% is 1.6K hp to get the advantage of the Refined toxins, so mostly you only will be able to use it once because of the 8 seconds ICD.
Bark skin will not save you in any case because of the low hp pool.

Nature Magic trait line is simply bad. The only trait worth mentioning is Evasive Purity, but the others are simply very useless. The 10 seconds ICD does not help that trait neither when you can only have two of those.

Same with Taunt. I don’t understand the fuzz about that skill when is clearly just an stomp stopper. You are downed, swap pets and cast F2 so you can recover for 2 more seconds. The range is really small and the duration is too short to be of any other utility.
The runes are not going to save you most of the times, cleaning 5 conditions at once in a 50 seconds CD it’s not really help. Can save you in a tight spot, but you had to sacrifice so much HP, power and precision that i think is not worth it.

I tried a full glass cannon in zerker before begin to use Sinister. I found it very lacking and the damage too low for all the stats you have to sacrifice.

Indeed i know to test my build is not easy, after all you have to craft it. But believe me, you won’t be disappointed when you drop the bonfire and see your foes melt away.
If your are fleeing drop it after you and you will feel it.

Axe OH it is really really bad that most of the times get’s you killed. And it’s a shame because i love that animation, i brought the chain wip skin just because of that skill.

Pet Condition Damage Needs to be Buffed

in Ranger

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

Pets need another justification to exsist than damage.

Agreed. But damage is now their only mechanic, we have very few pets that apply utilities and those are really bad.

Just an idea i don’t know. But what about in the pet screen where the pet’s stats are put two little arrows (up/down) at the side of every stat?
Condi damage and healing goes for baseline 700.
From there we get +150 points at level 80 in each stat.
Another +150 points if we choose BM trait line.

So we have 6 usefull stats in the pet:

  • Power
  • Precision
  • Toughness
  • Vitality
  • Condition Damage
  • Healing

So that arrows would give us the chance to move around those first 6 extra points in block of 150 points each time, the ones in BM for example or the ones we get at level 80.
Do you want you pet to hit stronger? you take off points from healing or vitality and you put them in power. And thus you can make your cat more tough or have more vitality at the cost of power or precision.

I total we could have 900 extra points to share between the stats.
In worst case scenario we would have a Lynx with 2100 power at the cost of being very glassy. And that is not a crazy number.

Also the skills should be unlinked from the pet. It’s already stated that they are mostly skins having all of them same skills by family.
The skill we cast with F2 should be one of our choosing. An small popup screen when we click in the default skill that show us all the skills available to pets would be enough. Maybe i want the wolf to get stealth instead fear.
Thus there could be a reason to choose to put points in healing if we consider to use the heal of the fern hound in a cat for example.

The base stats remain unchanged, every family of pets have their own game style. A bear would be easier to became a tank than a power truck bear. If you want your bird to became a tank you’ll have to invest more points than for a bear for example.

(can freely swap between lb and GS tho)
and i can’t remember the last time i had trouble killing something that was not PU condi or cele dd elem or trap thief this is but that’s another, pretty ugly, story.

Actually i think you were very lucky with your opponents, axe OH is a very bad weapon of choice for WvW or PvP because of the root effect for Axe#5 (although you can break it at any moment it’s simply bad).
Also it is a very glassy power build that try with some conditions is some very weak way.
I just posted the one i use and i think it would definitely fit with you gameplay
here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/All-round-ranger-build-for-any-game-mode

Just use the signet of stone and you’ll get 2.6K armor and that’s i pretty close to what you are using now, plus more power, more condition damage and more hp with the same cleanses.

Spirits now more pointless than ever

in Ranger

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

Ok guys, this is a flawless example of a main warrior/very casual if any gameplay with ranger that come here to kick the class down, in case the devs decide to actually fix the class and make it not any more free bags.

Everyone here complains about how spirits need to be mobile because we are mobile, which is the dumbest argument ever.
Spirits have a 1000 radius effect on their passive, if you can not place your spirit somewhere and stay within that 1k range you are doing something horribly wrong and you need to work on your positioning big time.

Yeah sure, we all know rangers are the best a defending nodes. Their sustain is unparalleled and their damage has no rival.

On top of that massive effect range, spirits can give their boons through walls gasp you know what isn’t going to be thrown on a spirit of its around a corner or a rock or some little nook where you’re fighting? This infamous AoE that seems to magically kill spirits despite me having literally no issue with this happening in any aspect of the game.

Right, because you exactly choose where the spirit will be exactly positioned. Seriously, first you have to play with ranger and then you will see they don’t work as a warrior banner. Please go back to your main warrior.

Will you have to run out of melee range every so often to drop your spirits? Sure, I guess if your fights are lasting that long, but if you’re running any halfway decent spirit build you’ll have a ranged weapon that you can be using while you move out of melee, place the spirit, and run back into melee.

Yes you have. That actually don’t matter because you have to run always from melee all the time. As i said, keep playing with your warrior.

And if you guys haven’t noticed by the actives killing the spirit, they’re meant to be used to either 1) punish people for going for your spirit or 2) you drop them in a dangerous area (like at your feet in melee range) and immediately pop it for the active effect + one MAYBE two passive procs.

Indeed, that could be the case if not because you need 1 full second to cast, a cast that is even more striking that the Maul.

You can put the spirit down and never once activate the kitten thing and it’s still worth placing which a lot of you can’t seem to grasp the idea of.
Stop being lazy and demanding the devs to change the skill to play the way YOU want it to play, and start using it the way it’s meant to be used. It’ll give you much better results.

Yes indeed, and whose fault is that? We main rangers know that the area of effect is so small that doesn’t worth to cast the active ability. So why bother.
Also we are not asking to change anything, We ask to bring back something that it was already there.

Their actives also need to be ground targeted and teleport the spirit to the targeted area when activated. Right now it’s almost impossible to get someone near your spirits to get the actives off, and before the change it was incredibly frustrating to always have my spirits running in circles around me as I tried to “aim” the active so it’d hit my target. Which they never did because it’s not hard to casually walk away before the cast finishes.

That’ a very nice idea. But i like more the idea of mobile spirits with no expiration time.
Fits more with the idea of the Ranger that it is not a patient hunter but and i quote Anet itself

Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.

To my understanding can adapt to any situation means mobile, fast and be able to reposition very quickly. After the thief we should be the most mobile class in game.
And standing still in one corner while i keep close my rooted in place spirit it is not.

So again, i’m tired of repeating the same every single time. I understand the other classes don’t want the ranger to leave the status of free bags but 3 years is time enough already.
It is the time to make this class viable in any competitive game.

Rampager Longbow: Hybird Glass-Cannon

Its called hunter’s tactics. I did indeed list that which takes from ~90% to ~100%.

Its wvw, I have more hp through guard stacks.

I use condi extender cause my conditions are short already. Extending short conditions is better then making them do a little more dmg. And also its easier to add +50% all conditions, +100 condi dmg and life steal. The food is the correct choice.

Amn ok. But those stacks are gone when you die and do somehow give the wrong impression about the viability of the build.

Don’t die, also I did note that if you cant protect your sigil stack you should be using sigils of strength/battle instead.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNAT8fjEqQNL2sCusAVLGMEqP3v9av3gUvF4AY0bgCWVA-TVyCAB1pbpRlgAcQBs4IFc3+DK8AEiU9nqU+N9FAIAACwO3Z6sOjO351re1re1re25O35O35OLFwdLrA-w

I filled out the editor. Note that’s ideal what I will run. I still got 1 ascended zerker earring, celestial ascended backpiece atm, and lols no I don’t got Omni infusions on armor, working on those but they expensive ;-(

Thank you very much!!
Now i can see the value you say. Ofc i don’t need to see video, this is theory crafting after all.

Although i still think it’s very glassy and that means you most probably will die a lot. In my server is very difficult to don’t get ganged up by a zerg every time you try to do something, usually we are with the boon of outnumbered. Thus from there i’ve gotten the idea of not to like any kind of stacking sigil/buff.

About strength/battle: Wouldn’t be better fire/air instead? Don’t they do more damage overall?

Hey all,

Just got my third lvl 80 yesterday (Guardian). My main is my Ranger… but I just feel like the only viable weapon setup is GS/LB, which gets very old after a while.

Can you guys recommend some fun builds that are decent in PvP that are NOT GS/LB? Maybe even some builds that are more sustainy/supportive… I feel like I am only useful as a burst damage Power Ranger, which sucks…

Thanks in advance. I’m hoping Druid will help with build diversity.. but until then, I’m stuck.

Actually the condi ranger is much more stronger than power build.
In this thread i posted mine: All-round ranger build for any game mode

the video for the HP you show doesn’t fit with full rampager that is around 15K while you show like 19K.
Also you forgot the minor that ad crit chance when you are by the side or behind, and that makes more than 100%.
Also, have you seen mine?

You still get more than 70% crit chance under Fury more than 80% when you are in the side or behind. but you are have more power, condition damage, hp pool and armor. Add more condition duration is actually worthless, you need more damage per tick, no extend the battle to the oblivion.
With a glass cannon build you have to kill as soon as possible.

Spirits now more pointless than ever

in Ranger

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

Why do people want them to move? Won’t they just get nuked down by aoe?
Place them properly.
Perhaps we could see a cdr if we use spirit skill instead of letting it get killed.

because of this:

  • They spirits must move. Ranger is supposed to be a class about mobility and positioning. Than can’t be done if you have to stay close to the thing

If you play with ranger more than a casual PvE from time to time you already know we are not warriors and we can not stay still in one place.
Doesn’t matter were you strategically put your spirit we don’t have the control of the positioning in the battlefield, because we have to move continuously.
So if we want to actually be able to get something from them they need to stay with us so we can avoid AoE instead the spirit standing still dying from any random damage come in their way.

It’s tiresome to have to repeat always that this class is not warrior, if you want banners we don’t have the ability to make use of them. Our Spirits must move to be coherent with the class itself.

I understand that Anet are scared to give Rangers a Hard Support role because if they did what i suggest it would be that way , perma protection , resistance , fury , swiftness ect ect which would also be Very Overpowered.

THOUGH considering this! if spirits are movable and had the Hp reduced a little , it maybe fair enough because that Puts the spirits in more risk of being killed.

The solution is pretty simple: apply longer duration for the boons for more slow pulses so other classes have to equip their traits and skills to strip boons.
Yes we don’t have anything like it, we can not strip boons but all the other classes in game can do it
So for example, Frost gives 1 stack of might for 5 seconds every 5 seconds i don’t see it overpowered.
Now lets think about the most powerful of them, stability from the elite. 1 stack every 5 seconds. The first CC you get will be ignored but the stack is gone for another 4 seconds.
Now:

  • if the spirits have to stay still they should behave like warriors banners, no Hp attached and life span limited by time. They want banners just give banners no this piece of kitten.
  • If the spirits have HP pool they must behave like minions. Follow us and be permanent until killed that should be baseline. Give them a longer CD like the old one and we will be set. I like the idea of sacrificing the spirits in active ability cast.
That would allow us to actually be able to use their active skill strategically.

I like that last idea because it opens the ranger builds to new choices. Right now we only have Survival ranger as ONLY choice.

Resounding timber without any healing power is cringe-worthy in my opinion given that you suggest this has party support. I’m not really sure how you would get any as running hybrid dmg is leaving the build thin.

Running thin in all departments I would suggest using celestial gear. You wouldn’t be amazing in dungeons naturally but would be solid in wvw perhaps.

I would suggest a stacking sigil of choice on torch. As you are thin on some stats. I would also suggest sigil of strength. With longbow multi-ticking skills (rf/barrage) and torch (bonfire) with a decent crit chance you shouldn’t have too many issues meeting the 1 icd of the sigil for a cool 5stacks. Why I suggest this is condi/power on a hybrid dmg build.

Mmm… I tested it with full cleric gear and the regeneration doesn’t get much better, around 200hp/sec. At the cost of hit with really low damage.
Actually the regen we provide is better than a guardian can provide by Virtue of Resolve, the truth is that healing scales very poorly so it’s not worth the trouble of investing in that stat.

I find this build to run very smoothly in dungeons although of course there is always space for improvement. Because of the permanent swiftness + regen it is perfect for speed runs and you hit like truck being in LB with pure power (you apply bleeds aswell) or being condi with Sword/torch.
In WvW i miss more cleanses as there is never enough cleanses. I would have love some resistance with the last trait changes.

Celestial gear is great suggestion though. I’ll look if i can get any recipe for it so i can test the new build.

In all this years i’ve learnt to don’t expect anything good.
The last patch just nerf the ranger so bad that now i don’t even try to go to wvw anymore. Unless you play pewpew from 1500 and run as soon as someone notices you you won’t stand a chance. Also forget to get any kill, you will be lucky if you can finish a downed player without stomping.

You serious? If there is anything ranger really excells at, it’s WvW roaming / dueling…
I mean… you can basically play 1-handed and still win most duels and it’s actually quite easy to just run from an heavily outnumbered situation (given you are Aware of People coming, you won’t run from a 5 man gank… noone would)… We may not bring much to a team or anything… but if we can do anything, then it is suriving on our own in WvW.

Solo roaming/1v1ing is all about individual skill… any class can beat another class so long as they are adequately skilled. (not just mechanical skills, but knowledge)

Most classes can WvW roam just fine so this example is not good… every class has the tools to escape and make it alive out of outnumbered scenarios if they know what they are doing… except necros lol (dat mobility is junk)

I fully agree and also i explained myself very poorly.
What i exactly meant was that WvW is not only about running like chicken, wee need to get some players kills. With this class is impossible if both players has the same skill level. Talking about 1v1 our class is outperformed in any way for any of the others.

The only weapon that provides us with some mobility is the GS and that one is an utility weapon that do little DPS. Maul is just a joke how slow it is with such a telegraphed animation for the little damage it does. And ranger it is not a class that can stand for long in a melee combat.
So WvW you are stuck with LB/GS combination and that it is really boring to have only one choice

All-round ranger build for any game mode.

in Ranger

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

Before the big balance patch i used to run a power build with some condition application that was good enough for any game mode.
Post-patch i found that build lacking, too many dmg modifiers lost being the most infamous of all the missing trait that convert some of your vitality in power stat.
So i was really unhappy about the changes i could NOT find a suitable build to use with the ranger, or you get a too glassy or that hit like a wet noodle.

Also the builds shown in this forums they seems so lacklustre, the number are really bad. Yes most of them very tanky but with no power output, what leaves out of PvE if you want to tag the foe when 50 players more in zerker gear are hitting like crazy.

So at last, after a lot of experimentation and gold wasted i could get this build to work and i feel very happy and accomplished for get in there.

This build is all-round build to play with it in any game mode, it gets the advantages of the new conditions buff but also uses the power oriented Longbow to hit like a truck. I’ll explain my points here of why it is like it is.

  • Longbow is the only ranged weapon that ranger has. Shortbow does very little damage and Axe MH is too slow period. Also and most importantly the Longbow is the only weapon that ranger has that can apply ranged AoE with no need to direct line of sight, very useful for pressure in walls in WvW.
  • Sword is a pain in the kitten. But is our best DPS weapon in game although the Sword#1 AA chain gets you killed every kittening single time. I hope the devs fracking fix it any time soon.
  • Torch is our weapon of mass destruction. It is very weak compared to any other condi weapon in any other class but is the best we have. With this build without any food buff you can get 300 burning dmg per tick. Axe OH is just lacklustre compared to torch and the damage is very low even in full zerker.
  • Although it has 2 skills to clear conditions i like to have that signet as well. Another stun break it always handy.
  • It has unlimited combinations within the weapon rotation to get advantage of CD reduction. If there are many enemies LB can use Barrage(the CD get down to 8 secs). Single foe LB can use RF (CD down to 3 secs).
In the melee instance if you need to evade a lot you can begin with Serpent strike, otherwise Throw Torch or Bonfire, it depends in the foe moves a lot or if there are some bear-bows around that use the Longbow like they would be playing a piano sonata.
  • The Signet skill can be swapped for Lighting Reflexes is you feel like it or for SoS if you need the ‘Oh kitten’ button.
  • You will have 13 seconds swiftness in a 12 seconds CD skill. No need to use any other mobility enhancement.
  • Our pets are going to be really hard y their hits will almost be same powerful as our LB. The jaguar hit for 1.5K crits the basic attack, Bite is going to do more than 3K.
Keep them alive at all moments.
  • If you like more GS, you only need to change the trait in BM accordingly. Just have to keep in mind our pets are going to be more squishy though.
  • Quickness you get the most of it with Barrage or Sword AA. Don’t use it in RF, you wont get almost any improvement and you risk to die because any Reflect.
  • Sword AA benefits greatly from any form of quickness. The weapon become almost responsive and you can dodge and cast any other skill like you would do with any other weapon.
  • Remember you have Quickness on pet swap.

So basically with this build before any food you’ll end up with a :

  • Almost 2.3K power
  • Almost 2.5K armor
  • Almost 19K HP. In my case with the WvW buff it becomes more that 20K hp.
  • Almost 1.1K condition damage
  • More than 50% crit chance.
  • More than 150% crit damage. (+50% damage on crit).
  • Excellent group support with permanent regeneration and swiftness up to 5 allies (130 hp/sec) and Spotter.

Now those number seems really fine to me.
Any thoughts of how great this build is?

Ranger core traits polished

In NV the extra boons applied by the spirits are too shor in duration. I would change teh frequency to 1 stack of 5secs every 5 secs,so the boons can be striped but you get the boon otherwise.
Also i would add the cast the active effect when killed. Add an internal ICD of 1 sec to the active skills from the spirits to avoid to be cast twice when the spirit are destroyed (by casting the active effect).

Spirits now more pointless than ever

in Ranger

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

Spirits as right now are the definition of what Anet has being doing to ranger class from the beginning. As i said before we desperately need a dev that play with the ranger exclusively. Until now i can’t see any of the devs or team leader or whatever to have any clue of what is the ranger about.
The spirits need to be seriously buffer, right now the utility they bring is rubbish. To waste an skill slot to put an spirits there when you can have better skills that can bring better support than an spirit. Shouts can bring extra regen and speed for the team. Survival will bring boost in damage and stun breakers. I can’t think any reason of why anybody would be the worst at team support and survivability for using an spirit instead a shout/survival/signet.

  • They lost they capacity to move.
  • They lost the trait that make the spirit to cast the active skill when killed
  • When dead they pulse for about 2-3 seconds before disappear. Not 10 secs like someone said.
  • The GM new boons are a joke of a very bad taste.

So to fix this:

  • They spirits must move. Ranger is supposed to be a class about mobility and positioning. Than can’t be done if you have to stay close to the thing
  • The spirits have to be permanent until killed or we must have an indicator of time left in every spirit. Right now we play guess how long until i expire
  • The GM trait must be better. Pulse every 5 seconds for same duration buff to avoid perma-boon imposible to remove.
  • The GM trait brings back the cast of the active skill when killed.

Another skin of the lynx but same skills and all. In the beta the testers complained abut how weak and bad the tiger looked,
Seriously i’d like Anet to put some love in the pets and be able to manage them little bit more so i could have a pet that i like how it looks an adapt to my gameplay. I don’t need more skins for the same pet.

Druid: Saving the best till last... right?

In all this years i’ve learnt to don’t expect anything good.
The last patch just nerf the ranger so bad that now i don’t even try to go to wvw anymore. Unless you play pewpew from 1500 and run as soon as someone notices you you won’t stand a chance. Also forget to get any kill, you will be lucky if you can finish a downed player without stomping.
So yes, if the druid it’s trash i will stash that char for good, same as i did with the necro.
Although some small part of my soul still hopes for the druid to be a bad son of a Mordemorth that brings fear to foes and hope to allies.

I didn’t want to say that i told you so but… I expect any game to become soon almost single class game. an extremely boring warriors/thief/ele meta dude

while rev gets fixes not being hit...

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

i have reported this bug countless times, i have pointed it out in the forums hundres of occasions, i even open a thread in the bugs forums asking for a fix.

First the sword chain is very badly done, it’s simply wrong. The leaps don’t work most of the times and they are something really really annoying to deal with. Not only root you making imposible for you to dodge but also prevents you to cast any other skill. You can only cast when you are in the first attack of the chain.

  • Most of the times the leaps won’t work because it’s the second an third attack in the chain. So if you AA and the enemy moves out of your range in the first attack it breaks and don’t follow. You don’t have control in your own weapon chain.
  • Even when it works the leaps sometimes make you go pass thru you target if it’s in the second attack. Makes you jump passing your target and after come back to it. That if you didn’t fall off a cliff or something with the first jump making the sword a very unreliable weapon.
  • Two leaps together is just a very bad idea. And being 2 & 3 in the chain is even worst, you can’t use it like a gap closer and you don’t have any control in that chain.

How to fix this without changing much:
Change the order of the attack chain so the sword become what is was intended:
Pounce -> slash -> kick

  • Pounce is the leap. Right now between both leaps we have 730 range. I say we establish leap range 600. The rest of this skill stays the same. The leap only works if a target is selected to avoid jumping around otherwise we just do the pounce in place.
  • kick is not a leap anymore, range 130 instead 300.
  • All that mechanic that make the sword stay in the pounce chain that doesn’t work most of the times disappears. Now we don’t need that if the chain breaks for whatever reason we begin with the leap again.

So visually actually it would better because instead see the insipid slash we could appreciate the Pounce and also we could have a gap closer that now it works when you need it and actually the extra mobility wold be very welcome.

Another skill that needs fixing is Serpent’s Strike. Because of all that circling around most of the times the skill miss it’s target even if you are in melee range. Being the only skill with poison in the sword, would be nice if it would be reworked to become useful.

Berserk idea player as projectile finisher

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Wouldn’t be enough to create an invisible projectile that travels with the player when pushed back?
This projectile would be the one that create the effect of knockdown. So this projectile can be destroyed or reflected without affecting the affected player. Also could apply the projectile finisher this way. I think that should solve the problem instead using the player entitiy as a actual weapon.

Tempest: how it could become a real choice.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

First i’d like to clarify that i didn’t play with an Ele before so please be forgiving with my ideas about how to make the Tempest a good profession for the Elementalist.
Also please forgive this long piece but i felt that i need to explain the why of my conclusions.

As we can read in the forums the players are disappointed with the Tempest, because the overload mechanics are so lacklustre that are most of the time a burden on the player, punishing them for becoming the new profession.
So i gave it a though.
How can the class actually be played differently and also be rewarding for all those players that have an Ele as main?
The Reaper does a great job (needs to tune the Greatsword skills) giving the players something the necro didn’t have: direct damage. So Necromancer become more a warrior and that’s not only is completely different for the actual necro players but also is attractive for the main warrior that are looking for something new.

So, How to improve the Ele? or to say it in another way, What is Ele Lacking right now?

Elementalist is a class that have almost everything: Support, long range devastating attacks and also sustain. But they are squishy. So much so you could almost finish one with one Rapid Fire from a LB, and after the nerf in physical damage that is not very good news.

So to the point: Give them the skill to become Elementals.
The mechanic is the same as for the necro:

  • One additional bar that is the energy channelled to overload the caster.
  • This bar charges every time an skill of the actual attunement is used within combat. Longer the Cool Down in that skill bigger the recharge.
  • The Ele can change into Elemental state in anymoment as long as the bar is charged to a minimun (like 10% for example same as Necro)
  • Any damage done to the Ele in elemental state will be applied to the energy bar instead.
  • Skills used by the elemental drain also energy, even the AA pulses.
  • Change the attunement would reset the bar.

The idea of this is to give to the ele a second health bar and making him more tanky so veterans i think they’d see it as improvement. And also would give the necromancer players another class that they could feel familiar with.

The elemental state would change depending of the attunement. The idea of the elemental is to give that attunement new mechanics so the Ele can stay for longer in that attunement. I rely on the nature and how it behaves when a massive amount of that element is condensate.
The Elemental state have the skill#1 (AA) locked because it becomes a pulse that AA every second.
Attunements

  • Fire : Same as the Sun gives us the dawn the Tempest became an elemental of Light. The player could became a ball of light to represent this state.
This Elemental applies blind, stealth and cleanse conditions. Every 5 seconds could apply 5 sec of blindness to up 5 foes in 300 radius. The idea is to give group support as Fire is a damage focused attunement.
Skills could be (only could think of two):
Solar flare: Blind foes up to 1200, animation the same.
Cleansing Dawn: Cleanse conditions up to 5 allies 600 radius.
Dusk: AoE apply stealth 300 radius to allies. It’s follows the Tempest, could be heavy upkeep skill. Could pulse every 8 seconds for 8 seconds stealth. If any ally stealthed attack he will loose the boon until next pulse.
  • Water: Same as the deeps of the ocean are as cold as winter the Tempest becomes an elemental of Ice. This elemental could look like the mist form.
This Elemental is for chill, fear, knock down and damage because the water attunement is for healing mostly. The pulses could be every second chill 300 radius for 1 sec.
    Skills:
Cold nova: Apply Chill and Fear within 900 radius up to 5 foes.
Frost bite : Apply damage to foes with chill condition. Longer the chill remaining more the damage.
Frost ground: in 600 radius foes are knock down and applied weakness.
  • Earth. Same as the deeps of the earth are fire the Tempest become an elemental of Lava. I can’t think any ingame entity we could use for this one.
This elemental is for damage mostly as the earth attunement gives mostly protection. Could apply cripple, burning, immobilize and direct damage.
The pulses are burning for 1 second every second within 300 radius.
    Skills:
Lava Pool: AoE apply burning and cripple. The ground become lava the mechanic could be similar to Bonfire. Same as skill Dusk could be upkeep skill that follows the Tempest.
Lava Wall: Create a wall of lava that apply serious burning whose cross it. Stop projectiles.
Volcano Bomb. Massive projectile for direct damage, small burning AoE.
  • Air. Those Eles that channelled all the energy from the Air are overcome and become the Storm. This could be represented as slightly modified mist form with some lighting.
As Air attunement mostly do damage i thought of this as more as group control with pulls, retaliation and confusion.
The pulses could apply retaliation 1 sec to up 5 allies every sec.
    Skills:
Tornado: ranged skill create a tornado that pulls up to 5 foes in 600 radius to it’s center.
Lighting Storm: AoE radius 600 that follows the Tempest for some seconds. The storm cast lighting in the Area that hits foes for damage. Same as Lava pool could be a heavy upkeep skill.
Thunder: AoE radius 600 apply confusion up to 5 foes.
Hurricane’s Eye: Wall 300 radius that reflects any projectile back to it’s source. A cool effect would be if the projectiles from allies inside the Eye could become Unblockable. It’s follows the Tempest, could be heavy upkeep skill.

So this is it. As i said i don’t play Ele so i don’t know if this is a good idea or it is just awful . I think i would like to play with a specialisation that gives me this choices. Please feel free to give your feedback or thoughts as much as we keep this tread alive maybe someone from Anet could let us know about adjusting the Tempest .

Elite specs meant to change class mechanics?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

Actually for what Anet said it should change profession mechanics.
The idea of giving the players from other classes to be able to choose another that could have similar mechanics as the preferred one was pretty good.
Unfortunately that’s not always easy to find and the creative team wasn’t able to actually change anything within those classes.
Same as Dragon Hunter is the class the rangers could use as second one if it overcome the problems with the slow bow and the not so useful traps.
And the Reaper could be the choice of those warriors than want something new.

Today's dailies: You do fractals YES or YES.

I always do these with my ranger, and I’ve yet to be kicked out of a group…even if the actual request is for level 9 and not 1(not that I can’t do lvl 9, but why bother for a daily). I always look for the groups that advertise "For Daily Only – lvl 1(sometimes it’s a higher lvl, but usually not).

P.S. – Fractals are PvE…don’t try and convince yourself they aren’t(so are Dungeons).

According to OP.. PvE is just open world events and gathering nodes.

If that would have been the case this complain would have been posted long time ago.
The problem as the title states and my first post explain is that there are Two Fractals objectives in the dailies, as you can see in the pictures.
You can not finish the dailies if you deeply dislike fractals because the community it gathers. And the punishment for that is loosing AP and Spirit shards. That i think is a big deal.
If Anet thinks is so important to push players to do fractals the most reasonable thing to do is to create a dailies for fractals.
Other than that you are right, i do think that PvE is what you can do in the open world. Fractals are more puzzles for the players that got bored of the dungeons.

So please keep explaining me what i write in this thread. Also you can command me to think whatever you see right and good.

  • Ralph is hit by all the attacks, and can hit anyone.
  • The normal players are immune to the Lava Font, and get might from the blast finisher. They can buff each other, Player 4, and Player 7. They can’t hurt Players 4 & 7.
  • Player 4 is hit by Ralph and the Lava Font and blast, does NOT gain the might from the finisher, can hit Ralph and Player 7, and can buff the other Players.
  • Player 7 is in much the same state as Player 4 as to who they can affect and how.

Actually i don’t see that complicated. The button could be in the same window as comander tag is and where th switch for mentor will be.

They already are using flags to identify the entities inside the game, that’s why you can see the fauna fighting against the mordrem in SW for example.

They only need to create a new flag that identify the other player as we are talking of 1vs1 as enemy and all the boons and damage only will affect those 2 entities. For the rest they would be seen the same as friendlies, same as when you drop a rain of fire in the NPCs in the cities.

Once this being said, i agree with the rest, including PvP in PvE is a very bad idea more for having strong chances of becoming another source of bad environment within the game.

Do Troll Guilds exist? (Teq)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

this things shouldn’t happen.

  • First guids can spawn tequal as a guild mission so the bs of we are organizing this tequal map when is on a open world event stinks. They are there to help, not to impose after all is a free event.
  • Second the Tequal Event is every 4 hours. That means if a troll guild do that, they just may make you loose your opportunity to finish tequal for the day. So to anyone that says things like whining because you just wasted 30 minutes of your life waiting for un event that ultimately will not succeed, well that’s the kind of people that i deeply dislike.

Unfortunately this kind of problems and toxic behavior is systematic to how the events are designed.
Creating a fixed timetable in a fixed map for this kind of event promote this kind of situations for the high probability to concentrate many speed runners, efficiency farmers and meta of the month players.

One of many answers for this problem, as i pointed out several times in the forums, is to make the event NPC dependent instead map dependent. If Tequal moves around with his hordes then the players will have to stop doing grinding-farming and begin to actually play the game.
They have to ask around to other players, NPCs or even investigate thru Tyria to find the rampaging champion.
Even more interesting would be if those champs would have objectives so if you don’t stop them they could destroy cities, secure strongholds, definitely make the game darker and harder.
Then maybe the game would get interesting and stop being a farm house for speed runners, as we already have enough of those MMOs in the market like FarmAge.

Actually someone already told you there are Dailies servers for PvP AND someone already told you that WvW has Master of Ruins and Big Spender both of which require zero interaction with other players. Also people have told you to FORM YOUR OWN FRACTAL GROUP and then you can do it easily.

I hope you read it this time.

That’s not the point and you’d have realized that if you would applied your advise to yourself. The point is do not enjoy any other mode than Pve and they should avoid forcing players to do anything they don’t enjoy.

i play to have fun and joy, Fractals or any other kind of competitive game mode it is not. Fractals or dungeons shouldn’t be competitive but the community of players that stuck to those made it that way with the speed runs. So basically that kind of content simply is not fun to play for me. anymore. You commanding me to play WvW or PvP although i told you i don’t enjoy those modes are the kind of toxic behavior i dislike.
I hope you are able to understand my point this time.

The only real solution is to separate this kind of content in dailies. So fractals and dungeons are in a separate tab were whose that enjoy those can do the dailies.
I think PVE have enough alternatives to allow to have different dailies every day without the need to force me to play something i don’t enjoy.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I’m pretty sure people won’t mind you bringing a useless class in selfish gear.

Actually it doesn’t matter what kind of build i’m wearing, most LFG looking for random don’t care how you play if you are a ranger. Just for the shake of clarity, i run a condi shout ranger with spotter, there is nothing more group support than that with this class without loosing fire power. But again, doesn’t matter which my build is as long as i run with a ranger.

WvW i run in Ruins of Surmia server and that server is always deserted. What is worst is we are very frequently with the boon of outnumbered, so as soon as you begin to cap something you have a zerg on you before you are able to flip it. I won’t spend all day waiting for a commander to appear. Also not my thing to play that mode.

PvP just haven’t played that mode ever. Haven’t even tried to get into the lobby yet.

So as you all can see there is not much of a choice regard the dailies. Also the game mode i really enjoy is PvE, so i don’t understand why i can’t accomplish the dailies without being forced to play in fractals.

Anet should fix this. They should create a new category for Fractals/Dungeon runners so everyone can have the fun they are looking for.
Right now this is just frustrating.

So there are two dailies that are Fractals. So if you want to get the daily reward you have to do Fractals YES or YES, or go to WvW or PvP..

I don’t do Fractals, i hate the toxicity in the community that plays that content, simply because i roll a ranger and those are speed runs mostly that kick out any player that don’t fit the meta.
I’m not in a guild that do fractals often neither. Anyway somehow after doing some of them because of mawdrey i learn to dislike that content because of the poor experience the random LFG there.

I’d like them to fix that, i should have the choice to be able to do dailies without have to suffer some content i actually don’t find fun.

Mobs difficulty feedback [merged]

anduriell.6280

We just don’t want every single fight to be that way.
We don’t want to fight every single mob between points A and B every time we make the trek
Trash mobs rarely dropped anything interesting anyway, and if they keep the same mindset that SW had they won’t drop almost anything at all
People keep saying we need more challenging and more rewarding content.
But all I see is harder and less rewarding.

So that’s the problem, you want another mindless farming map. The mobs in SW do’t drop anything if you only farm events. the trash mobs do drop stuff like wooden chest and such. exactly the same as tequal’s trash mobs.
Although i agree we could use some love there and let those trash mobs to drop something same as Ulgort’s pre event-

I really hope Anet doesn’t listen those kind of comments to make Hot like a mindless farming map. We have already too many of those and i need something to actually play.

There is nothing out of place like a why it can even cast that? and the trash mobs AI is so much fun (teragrifs with your charge that hits you from 300 units away you being on their side, i’m looking at you)
Just some suggestions because the feedback in those is largely very positive.

  • more mobs that apply more different kind of conditions. In VB only could see cripple and venom. Would be nice if the mobs could apply different kind of conditions using the AI to select when to use each. Not like one attack put 7 different conditions on you, more like the different sets of skills some of them apply some condition. Same as any player skill. Like slow, chill, confusion. Right now most of the mobs are zerker, would be nice to see some condi and hibrid based.
  • Please look to improve their coordination when they attack in group to a group of players. they still tend to stack when the is a group involved, would be nice to see the trash mobs to use the environment to their advantage. Their are individually much more smarter but still don’t work as a team.
  • please think about the two sets of weapons for the trash mobs. Would be nice if an sniper could swap to daggers if there is no choice than fight in melee. That could open a lot of new tactics.
  • some said in other thread: please allow some of the trash mobs to be able to use and apply boons to their allies/themselves. Boons like Quickness, Regeneration,Resistance, Aegis… They aren’t shown in the rest of Tyria. This could make us to desire to equip boon stripping/corruption and thus we can have more choices of builds instead let’s deal all the damage we can .

The downside of all of this is that the rest of the mobs in Tyria seems so predictable are borinnnnggg…

  1. I’ll confess to some disappointment in ANet’s continued failure to realize that one size fits all content is a blueprint for unhappy player demographics. Hard content enthusiasts want an adrenaline rush. Players who are playing to burn off stress do not want the same thing. Yet, ANet continues to insist on trying to shove them into the same content. They can’t please both groups with the same difficulty levels. Either they please the enthusiasts and alienate the others, or vice versa. This is why things like difficulty modes and instanced hard content were invented.

Actually all i saw from Anet this last years is just that: trying to deliver a High level maps for hardcore players.
That was the initial idea for the dungeons and when they failed the put on the Fractals.
High level content for the enthusiast. However time has proven that is a wrong approach. Even forcing you to grind their unique currency to get some legendaries the fractals and dungeons are empty if not for the speed farming runs and that kind of runs have a very high possibility to make a toxic community where only if your class and gear are the Meta of the month will be accepted.

I think Anet is taking the right step making this maps more difficult than the old ones. This is an expansion for level 80+ players that are looking into something more interesting than chestfarming in the silverwastes for gold and don’t have the class to run on PvP or roam in WvW (necros and rangers i’m looking at you) .

I think the AI is nice, and the mobs very interesting. I hope it only gets better, being the mob able to ambush you more effectively. Right now they decide their targets choosing for not only your armour/vitality stats, but also for what you do and stay. It seems that also choose their objectives individually so they don’t stack and even if you are fighting in a small group one of the snipers may notice you. Just i hope they keep working on that so they could become even smarter and more surprising.
Very nice indeed.

Hopefully ANet includes:

  • more boons, preferably every mob would use 1-3 boons on themselves and/or on their allies, which pretty much all player professions can do (especially Warriors and Guards). (Every player profession has atleast 1 boon strip)
  • few mobs that specialize on inflicting conditions and have low direct dmg output. These mobs can be glass cannon style or something, but will inflict alot of conditions on you, if you let them do so.
  • Wild animals, like wild boars, well, hopefully the ANet’s plan to update vanilla map and dungeon mobs will bring them up into being something, than berserker fodder.

Not every class in game. Rangers does not have any skill that do that. And that make to play a ranger in Southern Cove to be the mode hard++ when you can not strip retaliation from the karkas without having to loose one damaging sigil for boon stripping.

In my play DH is also fun to play.

Ok, we have to compare this to ranger it is very similar.

I don’t think we should compare DH to Ranger. They aren’t similar at all they both have LB and that’s the end of the similarities. Not even the traps works in the same way.

  • I agree Puncture Shot is too slow. The only thing it needs just to reduce the cast time to 1/2 to be the right slow for the damage t does. The arrow seems ugly, Is it possible to change it to an small projectile of light?
  • I think the mechanic of True Shot is spot on. Shot Cd high damage but you have to stay still for 2 secs. So it does not become an spawn attack to use mindlessly.
  • Deflecting Shot is a difficult skill to use but i can see all the uses and it seems great. perfect defense against ranger RF or PBS. i wouldn’t change anything beause the slow speed is good to eat all the RF.
  • Symbol of Energy is fantastic. the art also.
  • Hunter’s Ward, i have mix feelings about this one. The warding should begin from the initial casting instead t the end because then most probably there is nobody waiting for the last effect.. the cripple could stay for those who escape.

The traps in general i see them fine, like you can lure your foes with the bow just to have the traps ready for them.

  • Purification, i would change to be activated on our hp instead a foe. the trap pulses for 8 seconds 750 heal and if foe enter it get blinded and the rest of effects. the pulsing could be invisible to the foes, so they olny could see we are healing ourself really quick.

the other traps maybe lacks some damage. It is really low for the long CDs. To avoid the traps OP one hit and i go down just extend the pulses in time, so if the stay in range they’ll get reckt.

  • Procession of Blades : x15 twice as much damage total. duration of the trap up to 1.5 of the actual.
  • Light’s Judgement, 12 secs duration. damage x15, double the total damage.
  • Test of Faith double the duration of the wall of blades, right now you can wait to go away with no actual effect in your game. i would apply bleeds or burning also to make more punishing to get across.
  • Dragon’s Maw i simply don’t like it. don’t like the animation, seems unpolished compare to the other traps and the effects aren’t great neither.
the pull effect has to have a larger area and affect more than one foe ideally up to 5. the animation i don’t like how poorly defined is the dragon head, looks like a chunk of stone or a big packman just ate the foe . more detailed dragon head would be welcome. I would change the barrier (i don’t know what it does thou) to 2 secs knockdown and 6 slow. the animation is head of a dragon that bites and pull the foes down as it drown again into the ground.

[Beta] Reaper Traits and Skills Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: anduriell.6280

anduriell.6280

The only responsive skill is #5 but it appears to be bugged. It misses 90% of the time (no joke). My guess is that it suffers from the classic terrain bug where any difference in elevation between the caster and opponent results in the skill missing.

actually i tested that and “Grasping Darkness”: in different terrains stairs included and works fine. The problem with that skill is:

  • it’s not target dependent, it’s cast to the direction your character is facing. That’s really confusing when you are in melee with a lot of enemies. I would change that to if you have a targeted enemy cast it in that direction
  • The range is too shot for a gap closer. My choice would be to increase the range to 1000 and apply chill instead of poison. That way i shouldn’t need that much mobility.
  • Also keep in mind the Defiant bar, this skill is a CC so the pull go first to that bar.

This is for another comment where it points out that the GS Master trait has only a 3% of reduced in the cast skill.
  • “Soul Eater” reduces 3% per foe hit. I tried with the GraveDigger and it can take a chunk of 4 secs from the Grasping Darkness cool down. Although it’s difficult to appreciate it is there.

I agree the shouts felt weak.

  • i would increase the range to 900 or even 1200 units. There is the limit of 5 targets, the shouts could be used as a way to engage early. 600 is again too short for a shout.
  • The cast times i see them ok but the effects are lacking. I would take off the damage from them and improve the utility.
  • “Your soul is mine!”: the healing has to be higher. 3K is too low for a class that has the biggest HP pool and the weakest defenses. I would add a HP siphon so if you hit 5 foes you could get up to 5K healing so the objective of using this in close quarters is still there.
  • “You are all weaklings!” , off with the dmg as well. i’d add a mean random condition for a couple of secs.
  • “Suffer!” off with the damage, and increase the chill to 2 secs for each foe affected.
  • “Rise!” ; I specially love this shout for it’s uniqueness. Off with the damage, but the minions cast have to be stronger. It’s a 40 secs CD, the jagged horror must do more damage and be tougher. Right now they are too slow and die really easy even with the traits to make the minions meaner. When this shout is cast the foes should be worrying about the new visitors, not just ignore them. actually i would change the jagged horror for some kind of mini reapers that do the chain of the Life Rend so we would get some LF from it as well.
  • “Nothing can save you!” : Perfect. This Shout is what you expect in a reaper. The range thou, 900 or even 1200 like to the other shouts.
  • “Chilled to the bone!” : CD too long even with the trait. Effects no really that good for an elite. off with he damage. I’d add boon corruption to the shout. Also transfer in condition from up to 5 allies to 1 foe, same as the shout Suffer but for allies.

The GS as is been pointed out, it’s very slow. So much that is even very difficult to land the GS AA chain. It should be quicker like 1/4 reduction in every step.
Also the chill should be applied from the first impact, so we can do use of the chill.

In reaper shroud.

  • Life Rend should apply a shot duration chill. 1 sec should be fine.
  • Death’s Charge needs a range of 1100 like the ranger’s GS swoop. Been able to cancel the skill in any moment so you can stop when need.
The rest of the skills are just perfect.

The reason of all this chill is because although is supposed to be a signature of the reaper it has really few skills that actually apply it. Chill is a passive condition and i think the reaper should have a good chill uptime to be able to deliver a melee profession with light armor.

Now I don’t understand this complains. Seriously i main a ranger ut i’ve been playing with a reaper and a DH. Classes i don’t really know well but i didn’t have any trouble with the game.
Actually i find the trash mobs even easy. I don’t see real difficulty in the snipers and i roam alone.
Did i die? sure, but that happens when i roam mindlessly around not being aware of the environment.

  • For the ones that state this is a casual game The players that began years ago playing it casual now are hardcore. the same that in some time the actual casuals will be. they need maps adequate for they level to ensure longevity, something that other MMOs failed to provide.

Well, you’re a pro, and we’re noobs. Obviously. And not only that, but our skill ceiling is far far lower than yours. I’m peaked already and I die horribly to dead mobs. Yes, i ’m THAT bad.

It is a casual game, I can play it. And no, not all casuals are hardcore now. I joined years ago as casual, and casual i’ve remained. I guess we’re not deserving of anet’s affections and our money are no good? If that’s the case they should really do the honorable thing and let us know about it. I don’t want to blow 100 euros for a game that doesn’t want or value me as a customer. Honesty is the best approach i feel.

actually i’m not that good neither you are that bad.
The problem i see now is that you will need to addapt. If you can play in the Silverwastes or Shouthern Cove you’ll be able to play in this map as well. But first we’ll have to learn how to get around because the enemies now react to our actions, which is good.
Also just saying but you don’t need to spend 100€ in the game, you have other versions.

But believe me when i say this, if you don’t give up that easy not only you’ll end up playing this maps but also you’ll see how they are not that difficult as at first we thought.

BETA: What we are enjoying

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

i’m very happy with how the mobs behave, they seems so much smarter than their counterparts in the rest of the known Tyria.
They have improved a lot from the Closed Beta. Great job!!
Having them to smart choosing their targets individually , surround you, smart dodging (when an sniper evaded the grave digger from my reaper i was like whatt?? ) feels more like a very enjoyable game. Also make much more harder to skip content wich is good.

It’s such an improvement that when i went back to Siverwastes the mobs seemed disappointing.
Please, please apply this new AI to other mobs in the rest of Tyria, so can enjoy the rest of the game the same as HoT.

The 3 specializations i tested they looks very nice.

  • The reaper is amazing. the feels, the looks everything about this spec is so nice. A lot of fun playing it. My favorite at this point. It needs some fine tuning: i would speed up a little bit the GC#1 chain, it’s too slow even to use it in PvE. I’d reduce the cast 1/4 so would end up in 1/2 and 3/4 secs. Also the class should have much more access to chill in the GS skills and in the RS attacks. Maybe if we use Reaper the Dummfire would apply chill instead if it has to be in a trait. Also the shouts should give more support/utility. The damage is really low and the utility provided could be better for the CD they have. A good example of a very good shout is the one that cast jagged horrors. Really cool shout that one.
  • The Dragon Hunter also a very polished spec. Very nice to play with much fun, the traps are really useful contrary to what i thought. The LB is really cool and the skills also. The fine tuning i see here is to improve the speed of LB#1 to 1/2 cast. the dmg is ok but the same as the reaper the AA is too slow. the healing trap is really difficult to use, i would change the concept to be activated by health of any ally or yourself instead an enemy. change the healing to healing pulses for a short time and if an enemy steps in while the pulses are active cast the blind and the rest of the effects.

First: Developers and designer of Gw2. This is an amazing improvement. HoT has the AI in the mobs that is what we look for. I dislike when in a map simply drop mobs with deeper HP pool to make it end game.
The HoT mobs actually use their abilities to be changeling, When you see how two mordrem wolfs disperse to attack you from both sides instead of stacking like they do in SilverWastes is very nice.

For the rest of the complains you can read in the thread i have something to say:

  • For the ones that think the first map shouldn’t be hard this is an 80+ level map.. Levels 0-15 are the easy ones, i expect this ones to be really hard.
  • For the ones that state this is a casual game The players that began years ago playing it casual now are hardcore. the same that in some time the actual casuals will be. they need maps adequate for they level to ensure longevity, something that other MMOs failed to provide.
  • for the ones that claim those maps will be empty i can ensure you that won’t happen. sure the zerker that only do chest-farm won’t be happy at first. But eventually they’ll come around because although the map is difficult is not really that difficult.

Mobs in Maguuma are great. Do not change them, they feel really right.
