Just wanted to chime in on something @Kusumura pets and NPCs aren’t prioritized for friendly boons/heals. It will always go to nearby players first.

Yes, this was fixed quite a while ago.
It also help find the Mesmer since it is most likely the one with the most buffs.

That would be absolutely amazing! Think of the possibilities. They could even go one step further and not only remove sylvari from character creation but make existing sylvaris killable by everyone even on PVE-maps with the mandatory “last surviving Sylvari”-achievement of course. The guy who earns that achievement will be transformed into a new playable “pale tree” and instead of running around and killing stuff you’d be rooted in one place and have to manage your new “empire” just like in a 4X-strategy game.

This could seriously become a minigame °°

I’m glad I got my weapon masteries long ago, this was a great spot for focus/torch/warhorn.

According to the patchnote, those who logged during a certain period between yesterday and today won’t get the daily log-in reward until tomorrow even if they didn’t complete their daily. The others got it already.
I don’t even understand how this could happen.

After the next episode we’ll probably get Canthan New Year festival for about one month. They obviously won’t follow right away with season 3, another break (exept if they love the sight of torches and pitchforks) on an eventual expansion they’d need to advertise first for weeks (even if it’s free).

I can’t help but respect all those anet’s employees who keep their end of the bargain about that rule. Not being allowed to talk for sure must be very frustating when you see topics like these, I’m sure they’d like to tell us but they can’t. It’s also amazing that so far nothing has been leaked.
Imagine the pressure, not being able to talk about what you’re doing at work to your family or friend. It must be really hard for them as well.
I’m impressed.

I’m going to say, I spent the weekend camping Amber to get The Executioner to spawn. We got him to spawn twice, but didn’t succeed. Then this morning, he spawned again.. I know I hit him multiple times, I died twice and and waypointed. While running back the second time, I made it to the gate as he died.. and NO reward… I probably won’t wp again in the future. I now have to do it all again, to get the achievement… it sucks. Took me 3 days to get to today, to have him actually killed on the server instance I was in.. and I didn’t get it. VERY frustrating!!!!

And that’s part of the problem, tagging mobs and events. Take the Svanir Shaman chain for exemple, you just need one hit on the totem to get gold reward, on the other hand the event after with one veteran (event to the left of the totem) needs you to do more than a few hits to hoe for a bronze reward.
People are hoping for a rez so that they can tag the event/boss, because they don’t know if they did enough damages to get the reward. And people don’t wait either on a kill because they want to do as much damage as they can in fear of not getting the reward (happens a lot for guild bounties).

One reason they can’t make announcements like this is the economy. Precursor craft for exemple will make the prices of all legendary related mats explode in a few minutes as soon as it’s announced (even if it’s not related at all to current precursors).

I’ll be a bit off topic but I’ll add something to what Orpheal said. A lot of people think GW2 is dead and it’s probably because there’s next to no advertising. If you don’t visit the website or dedicated fan forums/blogs, you hear little to nothing about the game. You don’t even get a mail when new content is released while on the other hand I’m getting tons of mails from Blizzard since I stopped playing wow years ago.
Another thing I discovered recently, thanks to reddit, some weapons will be removed from the Black Lion Weapon Specialist this tuesday and the information about this is a single line in a patchnote. In the same way, BLTC sales end are not well advertised, who knows when the tempest skins will be removed?

The main page and login screen should show more informations than they do right now.

How about a Charr mount for my Asura.

I proposed that some time back in the german forum when we were talking about backpacks. Charr get an asura-backpack and Asura a Charr-mount. Everyone benefits (well beside a few bookah).

That seems wrong to me for some reason. XD
Well Charr could ride a cow. Asura could ride some kind of golem(which they do already) only cuter. Humans could ride horses. Sylvari could ride sylvari hounds. Norns could ride…kegs. :I

Horses only appear in pictures in GW2. Maybe rams?

1: Rewards. Once you get all the unique items provided by one event, there’s pretty much no need to do it again, since you got them all you were probably at a point where you were farming it like a bot rather than enjoying it. We’ll need something to keep doing it, gold and useful materials are one of the way to go, but you could also put something like pvp tracks and/or special raid skills/traits/gear (like wvw) that could be tied with levels of difficulty (like fractal).

2: Diversity. Don’t fall into the “DPS the kitten out of this” gameplay. You can create whatever siege weapon, bundle or transformation you want, use this to provide players with unique experiences. Also raid doesn’t mean boss kill, it could be a split event mission, escort NPC, repel the giant monster and so on. Teamwork and timings should be the priority over DPS.

3: Levels of difficulty. As said above, allow players to choose their level of difficulty for greater rewards. The most important part would be not to just put in there increased stats, but introduce new skills, change the pattern of attacks or make it random, add waves of minions, etc… Each level of difficulty should make the encounter totally different than the one before, to the surprise of the players.

Why can’t GM’s police something that affects hundreds of players on a server? You guys are apparently policing dungeon exploits now, where people go under maps to kill bosses to sell dungeon runs that barely affects anyone but won’t police WvW? It’s not like siege trolls are that rampant either, their are very few and if you actually start banning them they will disappear.

Showing siege’s owner name would help with that, people could even report them.

Thanks Chris and Jon for all those answers, this CDI feels really alive.

So here’s some MUST have option I’ve been thinking about, allow players to keep the guild chat when they change character (whole chat would be even better, including party chat even if you left the party).
It’s annoying to lose the track of what people are saying because you relogged to another character.

Memopad
Goal of Proposal
Add a memopad for players to keep informations on each guildies (at least those they want to keep things on). Can also be extended to friend and block lists. It would help keeping track of who are your guildmates, especially when you have a lot.
Proposal Functionality
Add an icon near player name on the guild pannel (or wherever on the line associated to that player).
When clicking that icon, it should open a window where the player can write whatever you want for your eyes only.
Those message should be saved on the client side, not the server.
Associated Risks
None except the part about client side, you lose all when you change computer.

The list of rewarding farms including failing events is high, fixing the timer on those events is just a band-aid.

People don’t understand that as soon as anet will announce precursor crafting, the price of all mats involved to craft a legendary will explode. Meaning mostly T5, T6, ecto, cores and lodes.
A lot of things will be more expensive and your legendary won’t be any cheaper.

There’s also a slight nerf to rapid fire:
-Following stealthed targets, since it’s faster you can’t track movement of a thief as well as before.
-With a shorter cast time, one dodge roll will negate most of the damages and vuln stack.

The problem is not line of sight corner fgs zerker exploit abuse or whatever. People are running dungeon for money, not because it’s fun. There’s pretty much nothing to get gold as efficient and easy as running dungeons except a few opportunities here and there (foxfire atm). Playing TP and MF gambling are risky and you need a good amount of gold to get started.
What anet needs to do is introducing more account bound items from specific areas/activities for legendaries and making difficult (wipe = game over is a good start) and rewarding group content.
Also a nerf to FGS is needed, zerker gear is completely safe for most encounters because most bosses die too fast to be a threat.

Little blow to dungeon warriors. Adrenaline decay between combat and less damages on GS skills will reduce the overall DPS a bit. Arcing Slice means sacrifing 15% damages (Berserker’s Power) so it’s probably not worth using. The meta might go back to GS/Axe.

Sword AA has it’s use. It’s a great weapon, when you want to cling to your target, which is pretty useful against kitting ennemies (mostly players).
But it becomes annoying when you want to move arround your target or just stay slighly out of it’s melee range. Of course you can remove auto-attack and use it manually but it will result in a dps loss whenever you’ll want to move a bit, not great for PvE.
Dodge is another story since there are many ways to cancel the chain and dodge (for example use WH4 and dodge before the cast is over). Like manual attack, it requires a bit of practice.

And then comes the arguments:
-Why my best DPS weapon is so dangerous for me while I’m doing the least damages in the game (not factoring pets)?
-Why should AA be nerfed/fixed when it’s a great PvP weapon and just need a bit of practice to remove the negative points?

The answer is simple:
Sword doesn’t need a fix at all if anet can provide a better DPS weapon for PvE. Then everybody will be happy.

On another point, I wonder where will be the longbow in term of DPS, I’m pretty sure I heard it was close to GS while the downside was the lack of access to melee buffs.

Really the only thing I was a bit disappointed in is that they did not remove the positioning requirement for bleeding on the auto attack of shortbow.

In short (pun intended), you have a lot of goodies for power builds and not as much emphasis on condition.

Still. . . I do enjoy the changes. LB/GS will be fun to run again. Still no way to get myself out of major trouble but I’ll enjoy the fights!

You now have Signet of Stone, more stablity with SotW and Entangle to be used with “on elite use” runes. Few good options there^^.

Wonder if the dodge while in leap portions of mainhand sword autos will make it with this patch…

There’s a possibility that they didn’t show everything they’re about to release. Also they talked about a fix to sword auto at the beginning of the year, but seeing as they added burst while they wanted to keep ranger at sustained damage…. you never know.

For bows as far as some suggestions I’ve seen goes, I would love to add a functional AoE that doesn’t revolve around piercing. Something like: “Splinter Arrows: Arrow attacks now splinter when they hit a target, dealing 75% of the damage dealt to that target in a 120 radius around the target.” Obviously a Grandmaster option.

Could be added as an effect to Sharpening Stone (either core or trait). Not the best option due to the CD but add the minor trait to that and you could get 10 hits with AoE potential over kitten (or 36s when traited). This would make the skill usefull even for non condition builds.
Another option would be to create a 3 skill chain for longbow auto, with the last one being splinter (and why not make the second one not restricted by range or with armor penetration, see under). In the same way, shortbow could also see a 3 chain combo with no positionnal requirement for the 3rd skill.
Also some bow skills had armor penetration in GW1 and I think it wouldn’t be too abusive to see that on Ranger since the DPS is poor in power builds if you don’t factor the pet.

200g is largely enough to buy one berserker armor set + trinkets.
I would also recommend a soldier armor set (power/toughness/vitality) for wvw, it helps with survivability and it’s cheap (farm badges of honors by following the zerg in EotM and buy the set at the armor vendor on any wvw map).

Goldsellers are back and with the amount of money they sit on, crafting precursors through MF is easy for them and profitable. Manipulating the market to increase the price of precursors makes it even more profitable.
Check spidy, a few weeks ago there were 10 to 30 of each precursor on sale, now they’re down to arround 5.
Lower the supply, prices will increase, then sell what you bought for profit and while you’re at it use that money to craft even more precursors.

I’ve changed class already, my guild is running dungeons and ranger is not really efficient for that anymore.

Longbow has pretty high DPS actually, it’s just that since you’re at high range you can’t give and get buffs from those in melee.
