If instead of an expansion they announce new levels, mounts, open world PvP, flying, holy trinity, gear progression, player to player trading, dps meters and/or a subscription…. I just might be displeased.
(ANet logic: those were the most common topics so therefore that’s what people want)
that…… sounds all very bad. None of that please
lol, we’ve been waiting two years for a decent amount of new content, and your complaining that they’re using an older graphics API?
smh.
If it will offer nicer gfx and speedboosts, what’s not to like?
For a project the size of GW2, updating (and testing!) a new graphics API is a large investment of effort for what is essentially polish. It’s a lot of effort that, IMO, should be focused elsewhere given this game’s state.
IMO it could use some of that. Whenever I do WvW with lots of people, esp. in SM, the slowdown is enormous. Not sure if this will be solved with the new support, but it sure is annoying.

Agreed, I do not care much for new races. imo it only creates more problems for the armour and weapon designers.
Now a new profession, I would not complain about that.
Sounds like a sweet deal, and perhaps their announcement, whatever it is, is not that far in the future.
I would not call that scamming, hacking your friends account will get his account back. But by then that gold will be long gone i’m affraid.
Today’s news on Dx12 performance.
Thx for the info Behellagh….
“Today during a Windows 10 press conference, Microsoft reiterated the promise that for CPU-bound games (such as the majority of MMOs) DirectX12 will deliver up to 50% better performance.”
Imagine WvW in it’s full glory without slowdowns ;’)
Imagine how old the engine is if they cannot implement this. :/
And on another not, I thought opengl was slow as thick kitten? I remember Unreal 1 on opengl, so sloowwwww.
Personal stacking is not a problem, I think Anet got it wrong. Group stacking is too powerfull, not the individual.
another thing about mursaat is they’re completely evil.
This is where I disagree. They had a disagreement with the Seers and Forgotten (based on GW2 lore) on how to address the Elder Dragon threat and out of arrogance fled to save themselves.
In Guild Wars: Prophecies, you could easily twist in a way that is more chaotic-good than truly evil. Yes they killed people, they harvested their souls to power the Soul Batteries which in turn kept the Door of Komalie closed. That same door was the key to the Titan Invasion. Furthermore, The Flame Seeker Prophecies (according to Guild Wars: Nightfall) were a fabrication designed by Abaddon to put into motion a course of events that would have lead to his own freedom had Prophecies ended in Kilbron’s favor.
To add note, The Flameseeker Prophecies detailed the Mursaat’s demise. One could easily argue that, again, they fought out of self preservation. Now yes, the fact one Justicar sacrificed a whole lot of Chosen on a Blood Stone to power himself was a bad dude but if anything, that just means he wasn’t necessarily acting on the will of his masters. The Champions, the players, were seen as a threat because we (our player’s ancestors probably unless if you’re Sylvari, SORRRY NOT SORRY) were trying to fulfill the Flame Seeker Prophecies.
You could also argue that their Jade Bows, Armors, etc were products of souls collected being given eternal life to protect the people of the White Mantle. Which, well I guess to relate – you couldn’t call all Germans who fought in World War 1 and 2 evil, they were simply on a side of opposition fighting for what they believed in.
See, this is why I felt the Mursaat were actually pretty awesome. They weren’t your regular black-villain vs white-hero.
Didnt they also kill lots of char and krytans? Doesnt sound like friendly to me
What fight are we talking about here? Is there some other fight I did not do yet I wonder.
Shadow of the Dragon fight, the boss fight of the last Living Story mission.
And lol, I’m sorry, but anyone who says anything along the lines of “I’m sorry I don’t have l33t skillz” is not going to be receiving any sympathy or convincing anyone. All of us who aren’t having problems with the fight aren’t bragging about how good we are. It REALLY IS a learn to play issue.
There’s nothing wrong with being casual. Casual gamers can observe patterns. Claiming you don’t have time to figure out that pattern? Proudly saying you don’t want anything resembling a challenge in your story instances (not even in the final episode of a season)? That’s not even a learn to play issue. That’s a learn to effort issue. That’s looking at ANY learning curve and thinking “nah, I like it down here at the bottom.”
To anyone claiming that the pattern can’t be counted on, that it isn’t “100%” or even reasonably close to it, chances are you got distracted by the plant bombs or the “bonus rocks.” But if you take a couple seconds to wait for the next attack, you should be seeing the pattern reassert itself. If not, I would very much like to see a recording and be proven wrong because that sounds like a bug. The only time something went wrong for me was when one of the Mordrem wolves that should have been outside the “arena” somehow made it inside.
Wow i am not a good or great player by nomeans, but that was not a very hard fight. When it started I thought ok this is gonna be fail to go solo but it was surprisingly easy? Could not be more than a couple of minutes.
Beautifull jumping puzzle, never done it because I hate grieving during any JP.
And I love WvW, just not the idea of fighting and jumping starting over. I cant imagine why this would be a good idea.
What fight are we talking about here? Is there some other fight I did not do yet I wonder.
From the development info you got the impression that it was going to be like that. Shooting gallery and other events. Probably got scrapped.
I do a lot of burning with my engi, is Rune of the flame legion a valid option to replace scholar or other good sup. runes?
Flame Legion is a solid choice. What build are you using because with nade you want a good amount of precision. Ideally assassin gear with flame legion runes would be a good cheap alternative. If you are using zerker, the rune of the ranger will be a better choice with a mini.
Of course if you are not using a nade build then forget about what I said, it will depend on your build. If that’s the case, take rune of the flame legion it will be a really good cheap rune for you.
Ok the one with the mini sounds like the better one. But it sounds like it’s not intended to work with a mini. So it might get fixed(right after I get it of course)
Thanks for the info.
I find most of the elites skills to be very very bad.
The answer is get more alts :p
I have 3 bank tabs full of ascended gear from fractals. There isn’t enough alts allowed to use all of that gear.
You’re wrong. Character slot maximum if 64. That’s 320 ascended trinkets, because with 64 characters gear swapping between alts requires either bookkeeping or a lot of time switching between characters.
The ascended people have bank tabs full of are rings. 64 characters is 128 rings. I have 11 characters all with ascended trinkets fully kitted. And then i have these tabs of ascended (I counted that i have 98 unused rings out of 124). Multiple copies of the same stats and many stat combos i will simply never use.
Yeah the problem is definitely solved by creating more alts. /s
I dont even have that much as you, and still there are some rotting away in my chest because of the useless stats.
I recently needed the space So I decided to use some of them just for getting some more inventory space :/.
I do a lot of burning with my engi, is Rune of the flame legion a valid option to replace scholar or other good sup. runes?
I dont like the mode, I dont like the maps. That being said I never was much of a pvp player unless it’s shooters. Almost never did pvp in gw1.
On a different note, I dont see the use of completing all of the BL maps seperatly. They are just copies, why not make one enough. Nobody likes Wvw map completers, not the WvW players and not the Pve players.
They said that dead player stop to count after a certain amount of time. Nobody knows how long that is. One bossphase is 4 minutes, breach lasts 5 minutes. If the server checks every 2 minutes for example, that’s half of the time we have for the boss and not nearly enough.
While we are fighting the “issue” of scaling by dead players, maybe we should also do something for those using Sentinel or any kind of Defensive gear. Maybe also for those using condition based builds/gear.
One person using not-optimized for damage gear will make the event take way longer than a full DPS character. How about these guys? Is it the next logical step after dead players?
You say that but I often wonder if Anet thought about it on health scaling. Sometimes some of these mordreth dont even blink when a whole group unloads on even a normal foe. Let alone the vet and champs that spawn at the amunition spots. Do they just expect we all have 100% damage gear perhaps….
I think Anet said that dead players do not scale the event?
Depends a bit on what it is instead. My first reaction would be an angry one.
Low level events in caladon forest and for instance quensdale turn into a matter of luck. If you have to travel to the event the chance is pretty big that it’s over, if it’s not on a timer.
I’ve never been to orr btw for the daily, is that intentional or did I miss a day perhaps?
I think I am the only one not interested playing as a big bird :/
The token on succes is a perfect way to counter the RNG in this game. It’s horrible for some, and great for others.
If mordremoth can attack the mother tree……………
God I would love to use that. I cant tell you how many times I lose track of my cursor in this game.
What do you mean by “matching siege”?
Siege that are not exactly the same as we have now. The Elona theme for instance was a bit African like and after that demon/insane like. I would love to have that in the map and everything that goes with it.
It’s not that random, I got 2 already and I really dont play that much. I think I did 5 total lane fights. But of course, personal drop rates dont count for all. :/ Hope you guys get it soon.
Very nice fights, it took me a while to know what to do at every boss type. But I kinda loved it that way.
Some fights in the lanes where a bit too much for my taste. Due to health scaling through the roof some of these champs and even vets and normal foes had wayyyy too much health.
New WvW maps that correspond with the espansions theme would be nice. Perhaps even matching siege weapons to go with it.
That dragon fight I had no problems with, the lane fight in silverwastes is way more annoying. I dont now how much condition cleanse Anet thinks I have, but every single condition is reaplied after my cleanse, group cleanse and combos. It’s insane how much conditions there are in that fight.
Boss sounds like a bad 70’s movie or tv-series. And right before I am called commander, why change this?
As an example, gw1 standalone/expansion gave us new skills, title grind and for the hardcore players an incredible difficult elite area. With it’s unique weapons to match go with that.
And lots more of course, I only see good tings from an expansion point of view.
I’m hoping it’s paid. I’d rather pay good money for an awesome expansion than get a mediocre expansion for free or cheap. This is a game I’m willing to put hundreds of hours into after all. I’d definitely pay for the extra content. The people who don’t want to pay for a expac at all can still play the game for free as they’ve always done. What are they going to do? Say “well I don’t want to pay for new content, so I’m gonna stop playing and get zero content forever!” Besides, I think the people who provide revenue for Anet (the gem store users) will be the ones willing to pay the expac anyway.
But you’re making the assumption that the price you pay for it will affect it’s quality and that’s not a good assumption.
I’ve played paid expansions for games that were horrible and played free expansions that were a lot of fun. The price doesn’t make the expansion better.
In fact, by the time they decide to charge for it or not, the work is already likely done. The quality of the expansion will not be higher if they charge for it.
I cant name even one free expansion for any game. Perhaps you could name a few?
On the other hand, the 2 extra payed campaigns from gw1 and the payed eotn expansion were awesome.PWI – All 6 Expansions have been free
Neverwinter – Expansions been free
PoE – Expacs Been Free
Terra – Latest Expac was free
RIFT – Lastest Expac freeI could name more but I don’t wanna be infracted.
I’m not impressed by any of those
Terra and rift were terrible. They could not ask money for it because no-one would pay for it. PWI, I never heard of that game but it seems to be free anyway?
PoE is also a free game, and not even an mmo. Good game but I would not compare this to something like guild wars. That wasn’t the question you asked. I answered what you said you didn’t know.
Fair enough
EQ 2 on the other hand was indeed a pretty big name. But on the ev2 site it seems to cost money?

I’d remove the lootstick from usable weapons.

I am sure they COULD be written back. The problem is HOW.
ANET writers have a history of bringing things back for convenience, just because, instead of doing it properly.
So I would rather have them stay dead or “unknown” if the explanation is just going to be, "nah, they been there in Tarnished, just chillin’ ".
And no, the Margonites NEED to stay dead unless Abaddon returns, in which case there better be a HALILUVA good reason and explanation, not nearly as small as Mursaat returning.
Margonites and all weird creatures from nightfall continued to live after abaddon was dead and gone werent they? The domain of anguish was one of the most popular areas in gw1 long after he was dead.
Honestly, I think a completely unexpected race is a possibility, since there’s sort of a hint of a race (Mursaat, maybe? Their home is supposed to be deep in the Maguuma…), but I doubt it’ll be Tengu just yet.
Soooo the mursaat came back in total secrecy over the last 250 years without anyone knowing of their existence?
I doubt.
Not to mention, as far as we know, there is only 1 left.
As far as we know. Writers should know how to deal with that. They kinda live out of phase with the rest of the world didnt they? Something like that I think.
GW1 people love mursaat almost as much as margonites, makes sense to bring them back. For me atleast.
but never having to look long for a fight.
Anger management
And subsequently any kind of release of major content would result in more players and thus more profits. People seem to very readily forget the gem store as a source of income, and believe that the vanilla game is the only thing that profits. I’ll guarantee you this; ANet has made a minimum of 2x its base game revenue from the gem store alone.
No i dont see how a gemstore can give enough money to pay for 300+ employees. Do you think the gemstore gives around 1.5 to 2 million a month?
I believe Guild Wars 2 is taking in about 8 million dollars a month, or seems to be if I remember the NcSoft quarterly report. I’m sure most of that is gem store sales. There just aren’t that many new sales, and more to the point, most of those new sales will likely be at $20.
I must say that is a lot more money that I thought they made with just gems.
Still I prefer the expansion to cost money, because in my eyes it sounds wrong not to ask money for such a big part of the game. It kinda makes the company look like amateurs not being able to ask money for a huge new part of the game.
And I have no problem paying the same as any of the gw1 stand alones/expansion.Actually, there are big corporations that do give away content for free. It doesn’t make them amateurs.
The point is, the company is structured with the idea that the cash shop will be profitable enough to run the game.
Charging for an expansion creates a rift in the player base. If people aren’t willing or can’t afford to buy the expansion they can no longer play with their friends and guild mates.
It creates haves and have nots.
If everyone gets the new content free, it means the game loses no one on that one particular matter anyway.
One of the things that Anet found with Guild Wars 1 was that releasing Factions and Nightfall (admittedly stand alone games) divided the player base. They’re desperate not to do that.
That’s at least in part why the mega server was created. There were already empty zones. Anet directly said they didn’t want to create too many new zones before the megaserver technology was in place. They didn’t want to have what happened in just about every other MMO to happen here.
They didn’t want everyone crowding around in the new zones and the rest of the world feeling abandoned.
I don’t know why it would be considered amateur to make a decision based on good business. One would assume if they didn’t charge, it would be because it benefited them not to.
Good reasons, I think it’s personal to me. It makes the company doubt if their content is enough that peoplewould pay money for it.
For instance Diablo 3 expansion was a lot less than I expected.(and expect from an Anet expansion) yet people gave a kittenload of money o Blizz because it was expected to be good. Blizzard did not doubt they could get a lot of money for it.
And subsequently any kind of release of major content would result in more players and thus more profits. I love being called a noob after I slaughter them…makes my ENTIRE night :-D
Hahah I dont get those people at all. If you are a noob, and you slaughter them like crazy. What are they according to themselves. Some kind of super noob?

And it’s the other way around, ncsoft could learn something from Anet.
Nike warrior is always moral loser.
I see them more as a succesfull troll
I love how dynamic the boss fights in FF14 and punishing. All the bosses have patterns, if you mess up just one thing either you got one shot or your party got wiped out. It’s incredible fun, also all big boss fights have hard and extreme versions to provide even more challenge.
Also the fan service is great in FF14, they bring all the lovely stuff from previous FF titles, in February they are bringing “Triple Triad” mini game and casino stuff! Gosh! I love Triple Triad.
I wish we’ll get permanent SAB as well ;_; Fun > Grinding for me.
I don’t know why anyone finds one shot or your party gets wiped out fun. I find that sort of thing frustrating.
I suspect (though I can’t prove) the majority of people would find it frustrating as well.
That makes it more like one of those old arcade halls games. I dont like that kinda game, I play for fun and get relaxed. Not hyped up and omg omgomg no mistakes…
