Tri Color Key Chest loot incorrect?

in The Nightmare Within

  • The Tri-key Chest has been updated to include more loot bags, more Dragonite Ore, and a chance at Scrolls of Knowledge and Tomes of Knowledge.

I got 20 Dragonite ore, but nothing else was different.

2 Pristine Toxic Spore Samples
1 Heirloom Seed Pouch
20 Dragonite Ore
1 Yellow

Specifically the ‘more loot bags’ part since the Dragonite Ore is correctly more… I’m not even going to note on the other items since I haven’t even got any of the rare items from the first iteration of the chest yet.

Rewards of Old?

Yeah, I was shaking my head when Colin said it “wouldn’t be fair to those who earned” those items when they were actively dropping from the dungeons, as if jumping into that dungeon a couple of times and getting lucky enough to get the jetpack only never to bother with the dungeon again is some type of achievement to be proud of. All the while others did the same dungeon multiple times a day, every day it was active, and still getting next to nothing to show for it.

His reasoning for prestige would actually hold some merit if players actually had to do challenging stuff to obtain them from some permanent content, rather than getting lucky with RNG in a 2 week span. It’s just ridiculousness through and through.

I ran that dungeon well over 75 times on multiple characters and never got the jetpack to drop – the only reason I was in there. More specifically, I stopped counting at 75 times. Ran that place to death.

Saying people ‘earned’ something in this situation is a bad choice of words at the very least. You can’t ‘earn’ anything in GW2, you can only be patient enough to be lucky enough to have a chance at any goals.

I’m sure glad all those people that I partied with that only ran it once and “OMG I gots teh jetpack!!” ‘earned’ it while I didn’t. When exactly did I sign up to be an NPC to escort players through dungeons with no rewards?

The “poor little plebeians” still won’t do fractals anyway. There is no justification for lowering the higher end of your player base to meet the lower end.

If arenanet wants this competition to truly be “in earnest”, and they are deleveling people from 50 to 30, people who are at level 30 should get reset to 10.

This, actually.

‘Poor little plebeian’ reporting in. Didn’t care much for fractals before the change due to being stuck behind an rng wall, won’t care for them much after unless the drop rate for the skins is reasonable amazing.

I did ‘hardcore endgame raiding’ in two games for years and crossing expansions, and I’m not particularly interested in ever doing it again due to always having the rug pulled out from under me whenever there was an update.

Honestly I feel for you guys. It’s probably one of the worst feelings in modern gaming.

Just as an FYI, the mysterious green/blue/pink keys also drop from the toxic seed boxes that you can purchase up to 5/day for 750 glory in the Heart of the Mists from the rank glory vendors. I get 0-2 keys per day from 5 boxes.

Unfortunately, those require doing PvP. :P

Daily PvP is a good way to get extra achievement points, and these toxic seed boxes are a good sink for my 100k glory lol, not to mention hot-join is much easier than running the 3rd level gauntlet if you don’t have a group to run with.

I’m not particularly interested in running a game mode I don’t personally enjoy for rewards unrelated to that mode. Just personal opinion there, though…

I’m not saying it’s technically not easy, there just needs to be considerations for outlier cases like myself who can’t earn anything via RNG. Telling your friends “Hey guys, hold on a month or two for me to catch up” is even a worse idea now that there are going to be leaderboards.

How long have you been at it? Between laurels, commendations and running frac 10-15, it shouldn’t be that that intensive to get some AR.

Went at it from day one, guild went on without me since there were a few of us that couldn’t get vials or rings to drop. By the time we could get ascended pieces via laurels, they were already at fractal level 40+ and couldn’t be bothered to come back (there were no rewards for doing lower fractals at that time).

So yeah, no interest to start all over again and sink a weeks worth of work in to a ring that I’ll just have to overwrite via MF assuming I ever got enough vials/globs/etc to upgrade it.

So, no easier way to start getting AR other than RNG or spending a left leg at the TP to MF one?

There are currently a bunch of ways to get ascended trinkets, and you can still put AR infusions in them. It’s about as easy as it’s going to get.

The only ways to get guaranteed ascended are barred by time gating (guild events, laurels) or by rng and forced pvp (wvw).

I ran fractals 1-10 so many times, enough to almost get the backpack, but since I never got the rings or vials to drop, I wasn’t able to continue with my group into agony sensitive territory. I ran out of time since they ran out of patience. Ended up spending all my relics on bags since they were taking up too much space and the only people who were still running low level fractals were asking for people with full AR anyways.

I’m not saying it’s technically not easy, there just needs to be considerations for outlier cases like myself who can’t earn anything via RNG. Telling your friends “Hey guys, hold on a month or two for me to catch up” is even a worse idea now that there are going to be leaderboards.

Never got enough vials to infuse a ring that I had to buy with laurels because one never dropped, and wasting 75 relics on an uninfused ring is just silly…

Sorry, I’m not really interested in running low level fractals countless times with no guaranteed progression so I can take my first baby steps. The added chance for rewards sounds nice, but this game has already taught me not to depend on anything that has a chance to drop, to actually ever drop. Ever.

If EN gw2’s primary focus is rewards and drop rates and DR, don’t tell them that FR’s concern with living story is more important, even if it is more convenient.

No way to pick which fractals you want to run or any way to work towards progression of instance-specific drops…

Unless they make everything token based, in which case everyone will just want the shortest fractals again…

Honestly I think the current fractal system should be scrapped and treat the Fractals as a ‘used content dumping ground’ so that you can still farm past event dungeons for its items, but you can’t complete the old metas. Having to do 4 dungeons that usually take way too long and can get blocked by pug skill… not fun.

Tower rules inconsistencies

I don’t know what it is about the mobs inside the tower, but apart from the intended difficulty, mobs inside seems to just not abide by the game rules that we players are bound to.

  • Condition transferral sometimes refuses to recognize torment
  • Mobs unaffected by Mesmer down-state clone and go for the mesmer 100%
  • Fear only pushes you in the direction of the nearest ledge no matter where you are in relation to a mob (if there is one, thx hallucination!)
  • Projectiles frequently go through reflect bubbles/mechanics
  • Mobs seem to know when you are stomping and can force their knockback off cooldown to counter. There is no way a single mob can have 3 knockbacks chained.

Is anyone else experiencing these scenarios?

RNG – drops from mobs
RNG – drops from nightmare cells
1/day from the top of the tower instance?
Purchasable 1/day also limited by RNG spores/TP gold sink and a small gold sink on top of that.

It all stems from, once again, the fact that RNG is broken and no one is doing anything about it. Some people win the lottery every day, other people might as well be working the coal mines, yelling at their dead canary about their disparate work environment.

I thought that once the tower was open, that it would be the leading manner to acquire spores enough to buy the recipes and keys and so on, but other than the pre-determined event nodes —which seem to be on slower timers and of equal reward as outside--, the mobs inside have just as terrible drop rates as outside the tower.

Honestly I wouldn’t even bother saying things drop in the patch notes if it requires hours of farming just to see one or two drop.

Why is every event feeling like: “Get 250-2000 of x in under a month. Except you can’t, so you have to use the TP. You don’t have gold? Go without or buy gems.”

Please make the Mini Toxic Hybrid tradable.

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: bravoart.5308

bravoart.5308

It’s the FIRST day people, COMON. It could be at 10%, or 5%… (heck even at 25% you might not get it after 10 keys…)

Before claiming it should be tradable so you can buy it for 100-200g+ within the first 12 hours, give it a few days. I’ve known several in game (including myself) that have gotten one already, so they don’t seem to be that rare. Instead of asking anet to once again let people throw massive amounts of golds to get stuff within under 24 hours, just be patient.

You’re basically saying “If you can’t get it in a few keys, it should be tradeable.” You have what…2 weeks? Just keep at it. You can’t just throw gold at everything

If the mini would be sellable “at a manageable price” like others have in the past, then they’re normally fairly common. If they’re actually rare, they tend to cost hundreds of gold. So, for once anet made a collectable you can’t just immediately buy, you gotta do the event and hope to get it. This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last, that they do this.

The problem being is that the majority of attention span doesn’t last that long.

You tell people that they have two weeks to get keys, but watch after this weekend, the content will be deemed as ‘not rewarding’ or the people that got their items due to Our Lady of kittenty RNG will have gone off to do other stuff (See: Halloween Labyrinth).

So in reality, if you don’t get these items within the first 3 days, you’re kinda done.

Grinding mats (t6 mats/lodestones) is practically impossible. Your time is better served running dungeons for the gold to buy them.

I do have to say, ever since they made it so you are guaranteed gold after a dungeon run, plus whatever valuables you may pick up, there really is no excuse for not being able to make money. If you really really really want something that costs a lot of gold, you can work toward getting it. It becomes a bit of a farm/grind, but it isn’t impossible. Not by a long shot.

Who the heck would want to farm candy corns by the way? There are tons on the TP!

And you get that magical money from…?

Look, it might be great for you to go spam dungeons and all, but No one wants to do anything in this game. friends quit, guild is dead, joined a mega guild, it feels pretty dead, only option is to pug and that usually ends up taking 5x as long to get the same rewards. Isn’t the gold drop only once per day per dungeon? You can’t catch up to the player-greed fueled tp flip inflation at that pace. Plus, I never get any nice drops from dungeons, nor in general, nor ever… so yeah… I’ll just go grind all day, get my one yellow a month and I’ll certainly catch up!… Really?

Which still accentuates the point that the paying player gets things faster by ignoring all these time sinks whether designed or incidental.

Let’s explain this a different way.

Instead of looking at stats or cosmetics or anything like that individually. let’s say that the end game is being “happy”.

Happy that your character is complete, you have all the items you want, you are comfortable in your spec and gear and have no problems fighting mobs or wvw or whatever it is you like to do.

This of course, is subjective, and varies drastically from person to person. One person my be happy wearing the bare bones crafted oranges, another may enjoy the starter gear their character was born in, another person might not be happy until they are decked out in the shiniest of rare and elusive shinies.

The point being, is that in every case, a paying player can achieve said ‘happiness’ faster than a non-paying player.

Whether it being buying transmutation stones to complete their look, or buying mats to build their uber sword or just having a nice nest egg, unless your account is exceptionally lucky or you’re some kind of economics god at tp flipping, throwing money at the problem is always faster.

Achieving happiness is always faster for the paid player.

I’ve tried making money normally, I’ve tried hunting out specific items, I’ve tried grinding mats… this kitten is impossible. The worst part being is that in the current state of the game, I don’t want to give ANet money and support them saying “I like what you’ve done with the game, I’m enjoying myself.” because this grind for happiness is impossible, and it’s getting harder every patch. I don’t mind supporting the game when in my perspective, they do well, but I can’t in any good conscience tell anyone that gw2 is currently valuing a player’s time or money.

If you think I’m wrong, well…. go grind candy corn for 4 years and get back to me on that?

OP brought up a valid complaint, that people that don’t buy gems can’t compete in gold purchases, and everyone suddenly starts talking about cosmetics and ‘endgame’ and exotics.

This is the current state of the game. Unless you get incredulously lucky in drops, or grind all day it is impossible to be better off versus players that transfer from gems to gold. Even then, players that convert to gold can compete better than you in farming because they can buy ectos for the luck salvage.

If you guys are trying to look like corporate shills, then congratulations, you succeeded.

He kept using offensive language that could easily result in a ban, but those of us at the event were the only ones being harmed by his words, so no one reported him. I believe this is much of an over reaction for us just wanting to finish an event for some extra Karma and an ori node spot.

Couldn’t you join them for a bit and just buy the ori that you would have got in a matter of minutes?

They’re wanting to give you more than the worth of karma and ori, but since it isn’t karma and an ori node, you want everyone else to bend to your will….

It would be a lot easier if they would alter their “Diminishing returns” so the more gold you have in your account the less gold that will drop.

I’m not among those who is very good at manipulating the system, which usually involves untold amounts of grinding that I don’t have the patience for, but limiting your gold based on how much you have seems like punishment for hard work, which I consider a terrible idea. I think diminishing returns is generally bad and the guise in which they justify it is weak at best.

If only the BLTC taxes were based on how much your net worth between money and items was….

  • Flipping would become less valuable on the larger scales, and players would be unable to become impossibly rich as currently possible
  • Players with excessive gold would be encouraged to put money towards gems, lowering the cash>gem conversion ratio, taking the pressure off of the feel of being ‘forced’ to use gem>gold conversion to make any headway in the game.

Two birds, one stone.

The only portion missing would be non-rng items that players could buy to directly sell on the BLTC without risking losing everything. The tickets support this somewhat, but the droprate is so dismal, I can’t condone it in its current state.

Nope, nope, subjective.

Tequatl loot is among the best in the game, if not the best. The risk is minimal if you dodge the waves, and further mitigated if you’re in the zerg at his feet.

Don’t know how you’re bored if you’re offered at least three different ways of approaching this fight, but again, that’s subjective and you’re free to think it’s boring.

It isn’t good loot if it never drops.
It isn’t minimal risk if you’re perpetually understaffed.
It isn’t fun if no one is around to do it. It is boring.

You can call my situation subjective, but then offer the exact opposite scenario as not subjective at all?

I tried joining TTS, didn’t get the time of day from anyone involved, and I don’t feel like grovelling for a meager chance at loot that I can’t guarantee will be useful. But obviously that’s my fault that Tequatl requires people not already in mega-guilds to join mega-guilds to get kitten done, right?

I don’t know if anything was ever done about it, but last winter it seemed there were a group of people, myself included, cursed with a sort of permanent diminished return on loot drops. It was very disheartening to run events in Cursed Shore with a group getting 3-10 gold per run when I’m counting in silver. To my knowledge Anet never acknowledged the thread or even replied. I do remember them trying to bury the topic a few times by closing threads or merging in to others. It was an incredible PR failure and a large reason I stopped playing the game for ~6 months. Silence is golden and the short of it is, they want people to buy gems. It’s not rocket-science.

Nothing was ever done about it, my loot is still terrible and everyone still thinks it’s just conspiracy theories.

Now that MF was moved to account bound, I got swiftly kicked in the shin from 300+ MF down to 60% :\

Back to getting nothing and grey items all day if I don’t go farm champs.

Crystal node has been pretty stingy lately, heck, every node feels stingy.

But yes, 3 crystal is a real drag.

I thought it wasn’t as bad when I found out that the toxic spore pods made patches that you could drag mobs in to give them the debuff — then I found out it didn’t count.

Same debuff, thinking outside the box, creative use of mechanics…

Nothin. :\

A streak-breaker definitely needs to be added to GW2.

From a player who is lucky if he gets a yellow a month, I would appreciate this.

The problem is not the Zerg . Zerging can be done in a POSITIVE way . If.we are 50 people why not making this experience hardcore ? Something that you can’t get in dungeons with only 5 people . My point is : what’s the point of zerging if it’s boring because you don"t do anything . The most add a scaling system . More people = more mobs , harder mobs and more LOOT .
You guys are blind ? Don’t you want a challenging experience that you cant get elsewhere , even fractals lv 50+ could be easy compared to an event you can create with 50 people . Seriously stop being lazy , that’s why you are bored because it’saeasy nd boring as hel . As I said harder content is more fun because there’s a challenge and a risk and more loot if it’s completed . I’m honestly dissapointed by this wasted opportunity .

looks over at Tequatl… >_>;;;

Bad loot, bad risk, bad boredom. Nope, I don’t want any more of that crap.

If you want a hardcore grindy effort and time sink game, go play Eve or something. quit suggesting making GW2 even worse to cater to your specific whims.

And I’d say that Black lion claim ticket scraps are very easy to get from the black lion chests.

wow no.

Unless you’re tossing $50 bills at it every week, yeah, no. Scraps have terribly low drop rates, 1/5 if not worse.

How about skill wins instead of the zerg? Skilled players are being punished in every aspect. Just look at PvP it’s very hard to 2v1 because of the downed state.
My point is the economy shouldn’t have such a big inflation just because they are allowing this to happen. I will be forced to do this boring grind if I want to keep up with the precursor price.

OMG wow.

Don’t take this as an insult but…. you aren’t skilled. There are people with real skill who are fighting 1v5+ with videos on youtube.

The inflation is based on flippers sheer greed, lack of casual gold sinks and lack of new merchandise being traded from player to player than from player to flipper.

If you look at this metaphorically, whould you enjoy that your coworker that has the same skillset / position / … as you get paid just as much for doing the same tasks as you when he works 1/4 of the hours you do?

Same thing, y are casuals so kitten when other players get well, cooler looking stuff “faster” than them bcz they played more…

Or why should someone that has 8 hours to play on a monday be less rewarded by the game than someone else that can play that same amount of hours but spread out through the 7 days of the week…

But you forgot RNG and Diminishing returns.

Then there’s a coworker that works all day every day, doesn’t get paid some days just randomly, and if he works too much, he doesn’t get paid either until he goes to work another job. Is it fair to him that the other two workers get paid equally for showing up?

And yet another coworker that, gosh you’ve never seen him before, does he even work here? Is he new? Oh ok he just got given his retirement check, a manager’s salary and all bonuses as if he’d worked here for 10 years early because of luck.

Celestial armor, in my own personal opinion, is an option for players that want to never be affected harshly by balance patches.

Are you going to be the best damage/support/defense? No. Are you going to be able to do all of them just by switching your build/runes/weapon? Yes.

That being said, Celestial can do some amazing things if you make a build based off of exploiting strategic rune/sigil/trait combinations. I haven’t got around to finding a build for Ele yet, but I’m really happy with my Celestial Warrior’s performance.

If anything, spend some time in a trait builder online, start with your weapon that does direct and condition damage, and go from there.

Oh look, another “I got everything I want in the game, let’s make it impossible for everyone else” guy.

Look, if you make the game actually harder and pointlessly grindy, people are going to look at their lives and go: “Hey, I could work overtime or do some freelance on the side and just pay my way to get what I want. I could skip getting that Starbucks latte and have 40g in game instead.”

—Or they’re just going to quit, which is more likely.

Either way, nerfing drops from an effort standpoint is incredulously stupid.

Nerfed Champ Bags/Boxes ?

If you think for one second that every precursor or item that people have been farming for are going to suddenly drop in price because there’s less money income in the game due to this nerf, you’re terribly wrong.

People would rather let their items on the AH collect dust than to eat the post price and lower their profits by reposting it. Doubly so now that the potential to get money outside of flipping has been nerfed – yet again.

So tired of this game supporting the fatcat TP flippers.

Don’t play the game > have funds to buy/sell everything.
Play the game > Be poor as kitten and expected to buy gems.

I just don’t even understand what the kitten this economy is about anymore.
