Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
The crap about syncing should stop. Just wait for an answer of Anet if they’re gonna fix it.
Because atm. if you’re mates are around the same rating as you, you will eventually get on their team if you keep soloq’ing. Whether you force it or not.
Solution is simple: Keep the system as it is, but add one more step in the end. At that point the 2 teams become a pool of 10 people and two new randomized teams are created out of that pool.
The system does everything right but it needs one more step. After finding and linking two teams to each other for a matchup, they need to randomize that pool of 10 players.
It’s pretty clear by now, that this doesn’t happen. In an ideal situation, where the population and soloq activity is huge the rating differences wouldn’t be that big. But the system doesn’t allow extraordinary queue times and eventually matches you with a much lower rated team.
Anyway, there are tons of threads about this atm. We just need to wait for an answer from Anet. It seems an easy fix, I don’t know if it actually is easy to implement.
It is the truth but you can’t do anything about it. Heck, even they can’t do anything about it. If the top 10 is soloq’ing at the same time, even without syncing, eventually they’ll be on the same team. Everyone knows it by now that the teams are made based on rating and then matched to the nearest team-rating and thus creating some unbalanced matchups.
They have hinted at implementing seasons and the like. I hope they include improving those team leaderboards.
I do have to agree there in a decent spot atm. Atleast my necro thinks they’re a pain. :p
Teamfights are still very important in GW2, as a conquest based game. Win a teamfight, snowball the nodes. The problem is, you can only 1 v 2/3 against total newbs. And this because of the low skill floor, which allows them to be viable just by spamming whatever skill they have. And it’s because of the low skill ceiling, which doesn’t reward potentially skilled players as it should.
Sync que only gives a big advantage if voice comm is used. In my 60+ games I have yet to come accros syncers, unless they hide it. But even then, I’ve never felt that the other team had syncers.
You should all stop QQing bout TP/TC getting disqualified. As much as i think that Teldo and Azshene deserved to play at Pax, i dont realy think that Phantaram and Xeph realy qualify as top players atm after changing class, and on top of it all, TP getting special treatment shouldnt happen.
I’d say they’re even more top players because of that. The meta is what it is. If you’re just to stubborn to adapt, well you’ll lose. The game gives us 8 classes, nowhere is stated you can only play one. They played a lot against CC before the tourny and based on those experienced they change their comp. This will keep happening.
Yes, this game is very team oriented. So, try and communicate with your team. React to what your team is doing.
But I agree, it’s hard to really carry in this game. It’s partially because of conquest and partially because of the skill floor being very low (which generally is a good thing) but the skill ceiling isn’t that high. The lack of a high skill ceiling comes from the passive play, risk/reward not very balanced, RNG, visual cues, etc. I hope Anet has plans to adress this. (Talking about individual skill floor/ceiling)
I’d say 5 minutes is a pretty normal time. It shows the MM is trying to his work (albeit failed work sometimes). In lots of games I need to wait 2-5 minutes. Granted GW2 has a lower population, it’ll take a bit more time.
No, that’s why I tought the blogpost was pretty underwhelming. WvW and Pve got their blogpost about the ‘future’. Pvp just got a blogpost which was basicly the patchnotes.
We do know that the rewards overhaul is their priority nr.1 atm.
Why did TP(Team Curse) get to participate in the first place then?
That’s the main problem. Not whether CC is better or not, nor their behavior. It’s about how the thing has been handled. That’s what bothers a lot of people. Everytime the community can get a little bit excited over things, we get this stuff. :p
They are connected in each region. Linking it with NA would improve queue times on off-hours. Anyway I’m getting queue times ranging from 3-8 min off-hours and primetime.
Get your krait killing in + changes —→ removing a big part of the water?
Because we all want more tournament chests, ofcourse….
I think the problem is that they pair teams together first and then look for an opposing team.
So you get one team with higher rated people and meanwhile a team with lower rating has been created. The MM tries to find a team of equal rating but doesn’t find one and because the system doesn’t allow too crazy queue times they just pair ‘em like that. That’s atleast what I think that happens.
This theory is supported by the fact that they said that they didn’t change the system for soloq. Thus before this patch we could see that we would find a team and the roster was set (now the rosters are hidden, but the same thing still happens I think). The roster never changed unless someone left but then it just disbanded.
Lots of bad people are getting carried atm. The system is fresh, give it time.
The only problem with syncing is if they use VOIP. The only problem to fix it is to give an integrated VOIP. You cannot avoid syncing with the current population.
If you’re getting noobs on your team, if the MMR is working you get them on the opposing team. Granted these ‘noobs’ have low rating and the skilled players have ‘high’ rating. And this is, because of the novelty of the system, nowhere close to being settled. Give it time and you’ll get out of it.
I can vouch for him. I saw him playing mesmer today ^^.
Another hit to the community. How much more can we take?
Next time you’re gonna do an ‘official’ invitational, do it officially……. As in organising it yourself so we can avoid this from happening. It might be the fault of Mistleague, but you are the ones who gave them the organisation. Atleast that’s how it seems.
Was a pretty big shock opening up the dev tracker. Because of Xeph?
There was enough discussion before the tournament about these rules and disqualifying now…???
In the higher rating’s people want to win. Atleast that’s how I experience it. But we need more tangible rewards.
Rewards are priority number one and I think Anet thinks the same way. I just hope we get them sooner than later.
Give us more time before a match start to reroll and discuss. Problem fixed.
Your solution will create even longer wait times.
Link doesnt seem to be working.
Good initiative!
Nerf aoe, no need to nerf the necro himself.
Well. I for one would pray to get spirit watch and skyhammer. Those maps are very carry-friendly. Make a troll character for skyhammer and get the hammer and pretty much gg. Make an orbrunner for spirit watch and it’s also gg. Atleast in newbland it would be.
The only problem with syncing is if they use TS, because that gives the big advantage. Otherwise they’re still on the same playing field as the opposing team (if the MM did his work correctly). Yes, they might have a better setup but when you get into the higher ratings people will mostly be able to swap characters to optimize the team comp.
I have been put with my guildie while we weren’t even trying to sync. I had a 5min timer and he had a 1min timer for soloq and we still got together on a team. I mean… you can’t expect me to wait until he’s in a game to queue?
I’d suggest they revisit the MMR to see if they can ‘randomise’ it a bit more but I think we just need more time before a match starts so we have time to get a decent team comp going and communication options (atleast some basic commands).
So why does CS:GO has built in VOIP in solo? Because they want you to play as a TEAM even though it’s solo. THe same with lots of the commands in LoL.
VoIP in gw2 would work the best, because it’s very communication heavy but I don’t see this happening anytime soon.
Lots of people still have to play/test solo q. I believe this will get better. I haven’t had any leaver in my last 10 matches, but I have an above average rating so things are better in that area.
This afternoon I had the paid tournament feeling. It took 20 minutes for a match to pop.
Arenanet needs to hurry with their reward overhaul and it needs to be good. They need to incentivize making a team. Even the team leaderboards aren’t really an incentive, because it’s the same as before and it’ll take long before that evens out.
The lack of steady teams and team names on the leaderboards aren’t very attractive either. You’d expect more from a team leaderboard, no?
I do wonder why WvW (a month or 2 ago) had a blogpost stating what they’re working on and trying to achieve. Recently PVE got a major blogpost about the future. But pvp only got a blogpost which was pretty much the same as reading the recent patchnotes. Can we please get some insight on what’s being worked on? We know that rewards are coming, but is that all? And if so, what can we expect?
I still want to see a decent reward overhaul tied in with the Automated Tournament system (from gw1). Tone down the rewards in hotjoin, increase them exponentially from solo to team to AT.
So making a complex encounter is lazy design?
^You will be able to recover but it’ll take time. About the VOIP thing, unless they implement one in the game (highly unlikely) there’s nothing you can do about it.
Daily – weekly – monthly automated tournaments. For the love of God, bring this back!
This will encourage people to form teams. Ofcourse this will only work if the rewards are up to par. So I’m very curious to what reward overhaul you got in store.
I agree there is an incentive needed for playing as a team. Even more so now that we have soloq. I hope they have that incalculated when they’re gonna launch the reward overhaul for pvp.
The classes limit isn’t really needed, imo. What we do need is more time before the match starts.
Make it 30 seconds to get into the match from HoTM. Then another 2-3 minutes to talk with your team and have a chance to relog to another character. Because it doesn’t always take this long make the ready-up button more obnoxious so people really press it when they’re ready.
I played against a guildmate after that match I played with him.
Try and get your win-ratio up on spirit watch and skyhammer. Those maps are for a lot of people ‘new’ and they don’t have adjusted builds for it.
Make a character with a skyhammer build (Fearlock necro, knockback engi/guardian, etc.). This will allow you to either win the hammer fight most of the time which is very important or hold a node pretty much the entire game.
For spirit watch, make an orb runner. Again, most people don’t have adjusted builds. Tell your team to focus on the capping and you do the orbrunning.
Both these maps are the easiest maps to ‘carry’.
On temple, tell your team the buff-timers and remind them of it every time it’s 30 seconds left. Always go to the buffs yourself, don’t trust your team for this :p (atleast if you’re stuck with bad teams the whole time).
Forest, foefire and kyhlo are a bit harder to carry. I’d say good trebbing on kyhlo can really benefit the team.
Anyway, this is stuff that might help when you’re stuck with really bad teams, not only yours but also theirs. :p As rating settles and you climb the ladder this will become harder.
The leaver problem will fix itself I think. It’s mainly because lots of newbs are joining and either thinking it’s a dueling arena (I’ve heard that twice -.-) or them just trying it once.
It’s just hard to really carry. There is ofcourse a ‘carry’ element, but it’s much less than in different games. Anyway, I’m getting better balanced teams (my team and the opposite).
Played 10 matches this morning only 2 were temple. I still think it’s pretty random. :p
Give the system the time… No1 has a rating as of yet (or a majority of the players atleast). It’ll get better in a few days.
I like random maps, but this needs a longer time before the game starts. Either to switch characters or switch a build.
Random maps screams for build templates though. My necro is pretty versatile so I don’t need to change much but on other classes I really feel the need for a quick swap of build.
I like having spirit and skyhammer on the rotation though.
We can’t judge as of yet. We need people to have played atleast 100 games.
I’ve only had longer loading times on Foefire. It’s annoying, but know that everyone has it. Anet will fix this.
The solo-queue is brand new. You can now acces is from anywhere in the game. This causes lots of new players to join up. Give it some time to settle. I think most people that quit now are people who just wanted to give it a try.
In one game a guy said: “Isn’t this a 1v1 arena?”…..
for a second…my heart lol….
I don’t want it gone. It’s fun and I want that map in a ‘tournament’ setting. It’s a trollmap, just troll back.
It’s on foefire. Annoying for sure.
I for example have seen temple twice, foefire twice, kyhlo once, spirit watch once, skyhammer once. Seems balanced to me, but I only played a few matches.
Pvp just became available anywhere in the world + no1 has a rating as of yet. This results in a very yolo queue atm. Give it time to settle.
