The skill cap needs to be higher. Therefore lots of RNG needs to go. Instant skills can’t be instant anymore, animations for everything (Particle slider, subtle animations to counter the clutter), rune/sigil ‘stuff’ needs to be avoidable, etc. The few RNG I don’t mind is those on main skills (like on the engi) and the crits. But even those could be revised, but only after doing the first things.
As too many animations might be hard to track you can add some UI for it too. However, I support your goal to make us play the game and not the UI.
This would increase the individual skill cap.
As for the team skillcap/synergy/play I would expand on the combo field. Make more possibilities, make it deeper and add another skill layer/ team comb diversity through this.
Yes, I’m a big supporter for that. It would create the right dynamics and something else than the regular tournies. Combine this with greater reward and observer mode and things would be much more fun. Hotm is just a death place atm.
It’s not brilliant, it’s common knowledge. You do not wanna pull people to the game in this newb-unfriendly environment.

That’s mostly because we simply can’t, not because we shouldn’t be able to.
That may be true. But they should give it to us in a way that you have to ‘build’ for it and not give it standard to every necro build. Because if you do it like a heal, which is nice for the start it might be imbalanced throughout the game as you just go full DS much quicker. Which wouldn’t be bad if you build your playstyle around it, for like ‘bunkering’.
You didn’t expect it today, did you? They would have announced that. Anyway, they’ll be giving it to us right before or right after the Pax tourny. (My guess)
Frontline- Midline – backline can’t really come back because as you’ve said there are no dedicated healing classes and there’s no body blocking. Position is important but less obvious than in gw1. The team feeling is there but again it’s way different than gw1. But I agree I would like to see more possiblities for team synergy and skill cap all around.

You sure it weren’t smurf accounts? Matchmaking will continue to suck until we get our split. This system ‘could’ work if the population that pvp’s would be a lot bigger but even then.
Dueling is another ‘mode’ and is pretty much ‘hotfixed’ with the arrival of CA. Imo, it’s the least important feature atm.
I’d say we have solo queue by the Pax tournament. You do not want to do an ‘in-house’ live tournament which is advertising itself without combining it with more marketing stuff and implementing this key feature ingame.
Anyway, as for the other long-standing requests…. What more have we asked for? Particle-slider?, more clear animations to allow more ‘skill’,…
Reward overhaul has a game-wide impact. So this means we will get stuff that are valuable to the game overall? Because atm everything is really hard split except for maybe the occasional dye. So we can expect rewards usable/sellable outside pvp?
Other long-standing requests: MaT’s? (but that’s not really a popular requested feature), other game modes? (not gonna happen, I think), balancing/map changes? (Balancing isn’t worth mentioning as a long-standing request as it is always requested, so maybe a few map changes?), in-game commands that were talked about?,…. I really don’t know? :/

^But how? How do you make ranged the same as close-range risk-wise, skill-wise? Without giving melee/close range gap-closers because clearly those aren’t enough for most people.
They will not have an expansion any time soon. Go look around on the pve-forums.
There will be in-game command coming. It’s a start. Built-in VoiP? Maybe in a few years.
I’m hoping that the fact it takes so long is because they want to launch it together with the reward overhaul and such.
We need culling gone in PVE and then you’ll be able to judge better.
^ People tend to forget it’s all about conquest. While you may be pro at 1v1 and such, rotating and overall map strategy is more important.
They’ll probably give us a slider anyway like they did with culling. I wouldn’t worry.
We have four weeks for the ‘first part’ of achievements.
Removing stability… My god, I can’t imagine the horror. Maybe a bit finetuning, but removing it?
Lot’s of people whined that balancing went so slow. This was the first big balancing patch and see what happens… They should just stick with the slow pace balancing and hope the new influx of skills and traits will help diversifying.
^Yes I agree with that. But that shouldn’t come at the cost of a ‘good’ team. But again, this is Anet’s fault. Let’s hope their split is good. And I do hope the fact it takes that long means we’ll get more stuff along with it.
Problem is Tpvp is not all about the killing. It’s about capping nodes, backcapping, etc. So while you can be a skilled ‘fighter’, there’s much more to Tpvp than just that. Which is something lower ranked people most of the time not know of..yet. Which is understandable.
They did say in there we should expect a pvp blogpost. So let’s hope we get that sooner than later.
They said they would lock it off during a season and release ’em afterwards. Would find the source but too lazy.

Balance through unbalance. Look at gw1, it gave build diversity that many people liked but it was overall very unbalanced. (I know that gw1/gw2 are two different games from the ground up).
Edit: I do think the added skills will have many new functions and such. Not just rehashed skills.
Though I don’t vote for castbars because then you’ll be playing the UI again. Distinct animations for every single skill on the other hand Is something I’d support.
They need to get it right because this is actually one of the most important factors for retaining and growing the population. Atm you’re NOT rewarded in any way for playing the tournaments except for the “champion” titles. Everything else is farmable through hotjoin and often much faster. Leaderboards are worthless because of the lack of a split.
So they better get this right, or gw2 pvp will never grow.
GW1 was a grindfest too, less about gear but as much for titles/cosmetics. But it’s all optional for enjoying all the content there is. Stop the whining about this.
People want more diversity, this can provide it. It might come at the cost of balance, but look at GW1. It was actually unbalanced, but it felt balanced just because of the sheer number of possibilities.

@ zodiac The problem with some of those achievements would be people trying their best to get them in Tpvp and forgetting about the ‘greater good’ (< winning). :p
But yes, i’d like to see more titles and more achievements all around. I would like some more Tpvp-only achievements/titles.

I entered my first tourney ever on my OP necro. I figured maybe I would get to play against some noobs since I’m only in the 90%’s.
Instead I got to fight against jumpers pre-made. Last I check he was rank 1-2. I was not grouped with anyone. We got destroyed.
I’d rather not play than be matched against the #1 team. I’m not that serious lol. Match making logic needs to be changes IMO.I think people should learn to read better.. Swinsk clearly stated that it was his first tournament ON his OP necro… He tourneys all the time on his thief.. & he is a great thief, seeing as how i field him on my team on a regular basis! (;

It’s less needed than in GW1 yes. 8 random people with random builds would do nothing in GW1. It was pure buildwars on a teamlevel in gw1. It’s just both different games. A good synergy and good strategy/reaction will ofcourse make you outplay the other team.
Get energy sigil and dodge moar. :p
