If it’s entirely free it would cause problems. Too many servers, abuse, etc…
They can make classes same height in pvp (like in SAB) and they can -for spectator purposes- highlight (literally) the important stuff.
The titles/ranks are optional and purely cosmetic. They also had this in gw1. I don’t mind. This isn’t grind, it’s a goal you set for yourself or it’s fluff while you play pvp.
It took 6 years in GW1 for one player to get the dragon emote.
I’d say official 8v8’s have to go. Official 5v5’s can stay. Custom arenas can have any number of players up to 10. I would do it this way. Sometimes it’s fun to play 8v8, but don’t make it mainstream.
People are making more consistent groups these days. They don’t want to many unknown players in their teams so they don’t get any surprises thus lowering the chance on finding a group.
Custom arenas are player-owned servers with several options.
When will they come? We don’t know; “soon”.
They’ll keep some hotjoin servers for sure, just not the 300+ they have atm lol. Custom arenas will be nice for community building and for organising unofficial tournaments with some prizes.
Is this happening in EU or NA? I’ve never ever seen this happening (EU) and I got a fair deal of games atm.
It’s just very hard to carry in gw2, just like daydream said. So I wonder how you’ll get to the top solo-queuing when they split the leaderboards besides being lucky with your teammates. But that might change when we actually get the split.

They have teams who cycle. They prioritise features. We don’t know how big the teams are. Anyway, they’ve said a few times the past month that they’re ‘polishing and testing’ custom arenas and spectator mode. So I hope we get it in april (wishful thinking :p). The sooner they get that out, the sooner they can start on splitting solo/team queue and get the daily/monthly/yearly infrastructure going.
CS:GO system is pretty harsh atm. I’m on a 24-hour cooldown ’cus of slow-loading/lag :p. But a penalty besides rating-loss would be nice.
Give necros a bit more mobility, it’s frustrating to play them atm. :p

We all share the same feeling. They’ve said they’re working on splitting solo/team queue a few days ago. Anyway, I think it’ll take a while for us to get that.

Ye, spec mode is meant for tournies. I think they’re just rolling it out in hotjoin/CA first to test it.
Ye I agree that a pure deathmatch wouldn’t work. They build the entire game around conquest (kinda). Anyway, I like conquest but I’m the minority, I guess?

If only the servers weren’t split NA/EU for pvp atleast. This way you wouldn’t have to be afraid for having long queues when you split solo/team.
Automated tournament system from gw1 please. New rewards in it, add some gems maybe. Do it twice a day to make everyone happy. Do it daily/weekly/monthly/yearly.
They just need to make 1-2 viable builds per playstyle per weaponset. That would already give a lot of choices. Then expand on the combo-system to add another skill layer.

—> Are dailies/monthlies/yearlies still planned? If so, please add fun rewards too these too.
—> Ingame acces to leaderboards, pls!
—> More info on leaderboards coming? Guild tags, pvp info (wins/losses, classes, etc.), rating, etc.
—> Let us salvage like in pve, pls! So we don’t have to reclick the kit all the time.
—> Templates still planned? Imho needed to incentivize build-making/diversifying. (There’s a lot of lazy people, like me who don’t like switching manually :p)
Any chance on a rough timeline? Probably most of these are planned, but can we see these in the foreseeable future?
Edit: Forgot one thing. I would like to be able to queue through the UI (pvp panel). It’s more for other people, people who aren’t so into pvp but it would still be nice.

Reverse the list, change the rewards as in incentivizing winning and changing the glory rewards. I die a little every time I see a hotjoin hero in tpvp capping a point with 2+ people.
Hotjoin is for newbies learning the game or vets trying out builds/having some fun in hotjoin(it can be once in a while).
Downed state is fun. If you leave 3 people lying around without stomping, it’s your fault that they get up again. Because getting people 3 downed makes you have the upper hand. Even when they get up, the chance is there if you’re rly rly unlucky, you can still win the fight.
Downed state adds something to the game. We don’t need to simplify it more.
There’s no news on what’s coming this month. But pvp will get something, we get something every month besides a little ‘balance’. They’re close on custom arenas and spectator mode. So I hope one of those makes it in.
It causes much frustration because the secondary (the orb) is evenly important as holding the nodes. The map leans to situational tactics more than other maps. You just can’t plan that much, and have to react more on the go. It’s a fun map when you’re with your team on voip, but it’s the most frustrating map while solo-queuing.
The cooldowns are a trade-off for energy (what most games use).
Have people tested it thoroughly?
I like the suggestion of scaling everyone like in SAB. You keep your race, you’re all the same height.
Cast-bars, while it would be handy. I like how you just have to watch the field/players.
Seeing lots of guardians and rangers too on spirit watch.
+1 It’s very much needed. It’s very newb friendly and also motivates using more builds somehow. I just find it too annoying to look a build up and change everything manually just for the sake of trying out the build.

Ye, I’m done solo queuing too atm. Can’t resist it tought. Like valk said, when waiting for your team to come, you want to do some solo queue.
It feels even more frustrating in Spirit watch, dunno why though.

Custom arenas are getting close. This will make it possible for the community to organise small tournaments. Next step for Anet is to re-introduce the AT’s from GW1 (dailies, monthlies, yearlies) with the yearlies having a cash price.
Might be a population issue together with the algorithm prioritising very short queues. I don’t mind waiting 5-10 min if it atleast gives me a balanced match.
It’s still not proven that it works. It works ingame (W/L) but we don’t know if the rating takes a hit or not. I hope Anet can provide us some info on this matter.
I’m using chrome and have the same problem.
And the pages are a ‘lil bugged too, they sometimes flip to NA. Anyway, I can’t find myself in top1000 lol. My ego took a hit. :p Anyway, I’m done solo q’ing until I get my name in that top1000. :p
^Theres a bug right now. Clicking next makes the ladder switch from Europe to NA. It happens if you change pages fast.

They just have to start getting the AT-system (= automated tournament) in. Add a nice reward structure to them (maybe few gems) and the competitive people will be a lot happier. It worked beautifully in gw1.
About random map: Just give the players the choice to queue for a map they want. (Like in CS:GO)
Leaving should count as a loss. Can’t be hard to implement I think.
What would you like to add to the leaderboards? Only give constructive suggestions please. There’s other threads to say how bad/good you find it.
This is what I like to see:
- More filters: Rank by class, by server, etc.
- The ability for everyone to check their position. (This is coming normally)
- Guildtags next to the char/acc name.
- Ability to click on the names and see a few stats about them (This would be fun, but would take a while to implement I think)
- Ingame acces to the leaderboards.
- Easier acces of the leaderboards on GW2 website. (This can be my fault, but I can’t find it unless i go to the launcher/thread)
- Visual rating (This might come, not 100% confirmed).
- And because it’s needed for so many reasons; split ranking soloq/team queue (This one has been suggested the passed months, so need to react on this one)
