Honestly ive noticed shadow refuge truly be a refuge for me with shadows rejuvination. more hten once i was low on hp and my heal was down so i put down shadows refuge and sat near the outside of its radius while players tried to find me, healing me up nicely.
as for the dredge, i havent pve’d a whole lot, they immune to blinds?
Yup, every last one of them is completely immune to blind.
A lot of the skills you steal are worthless. Some of them are nice, though, such as “throw gunk” that causes random conditions in an AoE and gives a ComboField: Ethereal. Plus its a free shadowstep, so I won’t complain about that.
What I don’t get is how come good skills like heartseeker get nerf so easily and fast but when bad skills like basilisk vemon need to get fix, there is no work done on it?
not enough people whining about it.
I’ve also been running a pretty strong blind build for most of the game’s life so far. It’s given me a distinct hatred for Dredge.
good thing, hope all those scrubs will be gone now.
All those scrubs that couldn’t rub two sticks together to counter it so they whined about it incessantly? No, they’ll just find something else to whine about.
Nerf is irrelevant to players who were using the skill properly anyway.
The damage nerf is. The change in percentage required is a huge pain in thekitten however.
You cant blink across gaps as a mesmer either
You can leap across as a Warrior, blast across as an Engineer, and zoom across as an Elementalist, though.
Troll post success.
Anyway, heartseeker’s been nerfed so this discussion is moot.
It’s not, though. It’s proof that they nerfed something that wasn’t really OP just because enough people whined about it.
So… maybe Asura eat Skritt?
Or Dredge?I am both grossed out and excited by this idea.
As an Asura Thief, I really really want to chow down on some dredge. Not so immune to blind when I’m eating your eyeballs, are you!?
Am I the only one that’s noticed this? My main is an 80 asura thief, but I ended up deleting my second asura character and making it a norn instead just because I don’t want to deal with this for 80+ more levels.
When I go on a Norn, I can zoom in and look all around, pretty much straight up in the air, with no problems. Try to do this on an Asura, and you get weird camera clipping and unsolicited zooming.
When I go on a Norn, I can zoom all the way out and look about 45 degrees up from flat land before it starts to clip and zoom in. Try to do this on an Asura, and you get clipping and unsolicited zooming if you look up even just a couple degrees higher than the flat ground.
These issues are really making it hard to enjoy the Asura race in the long term, even though culturally they are my favorite. Please fix these glaring camera control issues. The easiest solution would be to let me just nudge the camera up higher if I would rather have a usable camera than seeing my feet.
I’ve changed the colors up a little bit to put some dark red cloth in the shoulders since this pic, but this is mostly it.
It will be okay dont worry
I… I’m not sure it will be! Horrible lag after the patch
I just got a new build but there’s been no posts today about what to expect fixes on… The patch note guy got the day off or something?
Well, I really can’t believe you’re whining about the best downed state in the game!
You must not have played a mesmer…. their 2 skill is the thief 2 and 3 skill in one PLUS a clone. Their 3 skill is a phantasm that does backstab-crits.
Then theres the ranger which can revive their pet and have it heal them. Provides a much better chance at a rally than the stuff thieves have.
Then theres the warrior who can actually get up and keep fighting like they never went down. Sure they die at the end, but this can be the difference between taking down an enemy or having the whole fight be for naught.
And the guardian that can push foes away and cast a healing symbol… Unless you’re fighting something with stability, an AoE push is generally better than a teleport as it actually interrupts mobs.
Really the problem with the thief downstate is twofold:
1: We have a ground-targeted downed-state skill, which we would ideally want to cast as far away from our current position as possible, but the camera is so close and badly angled during downed-state that this becomes a huge chore.
2: The 2 skill is useless until the 3 skill is available, which means we have to just sit there and take a beating for a few seconds without any real defense.

Eh, I use the active all the time… It’s a blind on a fairly short cooldown that actually regains initiative instead of using it. What’s not to love?
Yeah the Ctrl-Shift-C doesn’t work for me either. I was trying to do this inside of Sorrow’s Embrace, where I get sub-10 fps even when nothing is going on. However I noticed when I alt-tabbed out for a minute to look for the file then came back, I had about 30fps. I tried to repeat this process but now Sorrow’s Embrace isn’t even letting me get inside.
I don’t really see it as too big of a problem, it’s not that big of damage compared to what other classes can do. But if you want to change it, this would be my suggestion:
25% lower damage than current when health is above 50%
25% higher damage than current when health is below 25%
25% bonus damage when target is poisoned (this part could be added to an underpowered trait, perhaps in a line heartseeker isn’t normally used with)
Places an assassins mark on target when used, which expires after 2 seconds
Cannot be used when target has an assassin’s mark
(these last two are similar to the sneak-attack nerf called “revealed”

Honestly the only problem with thief is the lack of what is supposed to be its greatest asset: mobility. Specifically this is a problem with shadowsteps. They get stuck on EVERYTHING now. Back in early beta you could use them to get all over the place and that really made the thief feel special. But now you have engineers and mesmers able to get all over the place and the thief meanwhile gets stuck on a little pebble.

I completely agree. The 1 skill isn’t nearly enough damage to rally against anything that has more than 1% health when you go down. The teleport is the worst though, simply because of how close the camera gets when you go down. You really have to fight bad camera design to get a useful teleport off.
Yeah I’m on an e6600 with a gtx550ti. In some areas I can get 60fps, but last night I was doing The Claw of Jormag and had about 3fps.
Why did an FPS drop post and a Crashing post get merged together? They are very much NOT the same issue.
Why is the dev tracker tracking community relations people when they just close posts?

This really makes it needlessly harder to find useful information. 90% of the tracker seems to be “this forum isn’t for what you posted so I’m closing the post”
For the most part my FPS has been acceptable. It drops significantly in WvW, but I understand why that happpens, there’s a lot happening. What I don’t understand, however, is why I get about 4fps inside Sorrow’s Embrace, even when I’m alone with no fights going on.
Specs:
Core2Duo 2.7ghz
6gb ram
gtx 550ti w/ beta driver 306.02
Also, on the subject of FPS drops, there is an odd glitch that happens in the Chantry of Secrets. If I have shadows on, even at Ultra, it runs pretty well. But if I turn shadows completely off, it stutters horribly.
edit: Oh also, when shadows are on medium or higher, I get flickering super-bright lights in some locations. It was real bad in the caves in Sparkfly Fen.

This skill, the thief shortbow #5 skill, has been quite buggy since late beta. Early in beta (pre-BW1) it seemed to work quite well, you could use it for great mobility, but from BWE1 onwards it’s been pretty useless. It can no longer cross gaps, even though warrior and elementalist skills can do so. it can no longer be used to climb up on platforms above you, which was possibly its most interesting feature. And even when you’re trying to teleport horizontally on relatively flat ground, it still constantly gets stuck on a little pebble or something.
Same bug on Sanctum of Rall. We also have the skill point in the Rally base bugged out at the moment, but that one was working last night so the NPC just needs reset.
