He didn’t ask for his specific time zone, he asked for when its october EVERYWHERE.
Of course personally I think it should just go off of server time to avoid confusion for all involved.
I love when people who haven’t been to all of the half-assed locations, all of the broken events that make up the higher level zones, and who haven’t seen the very obvious grind focus designed into the high-end PvE experience, try to tell people how the end-game PvE works.
So how do you react when people like me who have been level 80 for weeks and are creeping closer and closer to that 100% tell you that you’re overreacting and, in the case of the alleged “mandatory grind”, flat-out wrong?
I mean, you can pretend that everyone saying “L2P” is some lowbie who hasn’t done enough of the game to make a judgement, but it won’t make it true.
Well, first off, you’re putting words in my mouth. I didn’t say “mandatory grind”, I said that a grind was designed into the game as the “end-game content”. You don’t HAVE to grind, but you’re not going to get cool stuff if you don’t. Second, 100% world completion doesn’t really mean much, all it means is that you’ve done the hearts and vistas and skill challenges. Okay, you’ve got those done. Now what? Have you collected all of the dungeon armor sets? Have you created legendary weapons? Have you taken back every corner of Orr only to have the events either bug out, or have them finish and then reset 5 minutes later, wiping out your contribution to the world? Have you even finished the personal story?
You should try out a thief… I had to have “i cant believe i just survived that” recorded for playback so my voice didn’t go hoarse
if 3-4 ANYTHING built for burst focus you, you’re going to have a bad time.
Yeah, I know. Actually, I just watched some team’s vid of a match they played against me and couple guildmates, turns out they had red mark on me 90% of the time :P.
Diffirence between HS and most of other meele abilities is range though. If you dodge/get swiftness/create distance in any other way, they have to catch up to you or use gap closers before they can hack away at you. HS is a gap closer on its own ^^.
Heartseeker is a bit of a gap closer, yes, but it’s not like it does much damage if the target is above 50% health. It’s probably one of the most expensive gap closers you’ll find. Also if you’re using ranged weapons, you don’t need gap closers. Get 4 engineers focused on you and you’re really in trouble as they play ping-pong with your lifeless body.
Now you’re the one only thinking about 1v1 >:D
You got me, wondered if someone would point it out. Well, in teamfights people other than your targets can dodge out instantly as they won’t be stunned ;>
But what about your own teammates?
People will quit. Doesn’t mean the game will die.
Well, depends on how many quit, and if they come back. For the game to stay alive, it has to remain profitable. For WoW, this meant keeping subscriptions. For GW2, this means that months, years down the line it still has to get people excited enough to want to make gem store purchases, to purchase expansions, and to continue discussing the game to get other people interested in it. If these don’t occur, and the general public loses interest, it easily could die. NCSoft just shut down City of Heroes and their developer, could happen here as well if interest dies off.

Then why can I not stop laughing?
Maybe you’re a sociopath
WoW is still filled with bugs.
What made WoW successful is it made the masses want to come back for more. Can the same be said about GW2? Will the average joe still be interested when arenanet tries to sell extra content down the line?
1. MAXIMUM CAMERA ZOOM DISTANCE IS NOT VERY…..DISTANT.
Zoom distance is fine. It’s an extremely limited FoV that’s the problem, it creates an artificial “zoomed in” feel no matter how far you zoom out.
Melee is fine, really, as long as you can see attacks that are coming and react in time to dodge them. Unfortunately, between camera issues, overzealous visual effects, and poor optimization fps drops, that can be nearly impossible in a lot of battles.
I love when people who haven’t been to all of the half-assed locations, all of the broken events that make up the higher level zones, and who haven’t seen the very obvious grind focus designed into the high-end PvE experience, try to tell people how the end-game PvE works. It’s really quite cute. Sure, there’s other kitten you can do such as PvP, but that doesn’t change the fact that the top-end content is severely flawed and needs to be fixed and revamped.
Aw crap I forgot about that… I was going to go bang out the WvW kills after dinner tonight, that’s all I was missing :\
If 3-4 of those focus you, there is very little you can do to survive.
if 3-4 ANYTHING built for burst focus you, you’re going to have a bad time.
Without Haste it’s borderline useless, as everyone can dodge out of it after 0.5 second.
Now you’re the one only thinking about 1v1 >:D
Yeah, a lot was different in GW1 though. In GW1 you could pretty much have 100% uptime of 33% IAS.
possible it could end up needing that low, but I am really not a fan of that heavy of a nerf in one swoop. Take a little and test, if it’s still too powerful take a little more.
Did you miss the part where Heartseeker was already nerfed in the exact respect that you’re trying to nerf it even further? Even before the nerf spamming it wasn’t effective against good players, and currently it’s not even that effective against bad players. Trying to nerf it further just proves that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Pistol Whip is fine as is as well.
The ONLY problem that needs addressed here is haste. And that’s not just haste, it’s the quickness effect in general that needs a game-wide nerf. It’s currently a 100% IAS boost that can’t be removed. Cut it down to 50% boost, make it a boon, problem solved.

How to underwater: spear 5
- note this is from my experience on raid of the Capricorn structures map
I usually just put the 3 skill on auto-attack and go afk to get a snack. water combat is so freakin boring >.>
Wow that’s totally OP, they should nerf thieves! What’s that? You don’t know what you’re talking about? Oh, that doesn’t matter, nerf anyway!
They have as long as they want, but they won’t be receiving any more income from me until they get it worked out. So that means no gem purchases and no expansion purchases.
Console games just don’t have the computing power and dedicated graphics to do this game and alot of other PC games justice.
They can actually do quite well if the developers know how to optimize properly. Unfortunately, in GW2, this is not the case.
Guild Wars 2 has no business being on consoles.
Good games are made for the PC and ONLY the PC.
Two of the best games ever were Xbox games… And three more were N64 games…
They kind of do. Banning them is ineffective. Just use my modification to the suggestion and it won’t really punish legit players. And I’ll add another exception: Don’t limit if you’re currently grouped with the person.
-Limit it only to people who don’t have you on their friends list and aren’t representing the same guild. Problem solved.-
Since I can’t seem to quote-
This is an awesome idea, but I assume you had a typo because I really need to mail people in my Guild
I think you may have misunderstood. I’m saying if you are in their friends list or if you are in their guild then it won’t limit the amount of mail you can send to them.
Why?
I smile when I’m sent gold selling mails, so I can report them and it’s -1 RMT account in the game.
It doesn’t work like that, though. You’ll continue to get mails from the same people for a while until arenanet does a large sweep. And then even when they do get banned they just buy another super cheap hacked account and keep on mailing.
Limit it only to people who don’t have you on their friends list and aren’t representing the same guild. Problem solved.
Yes let’s remove the thief from the game and, give all of us thieves a free lvl 80 of our choice.
Nah just remove thieves and give all lv 80 thieves a refund on the game purchase, because a lot of people have no interest in the playstyles that other classes are built around, only thief.
PvP Leather is the same models as the Duelist set.
How do you, as a Thief, feel about having a discussion thread in the sPVP forum?

I’ve already pretty much scrapped my thief and moved on to a warrior, because they get to have the same or better damage with better defenses and no nerfs
ITT: Grenade Spam engineer cries about other classes being able to get away from his rain of death.
You know the old saying… It takes a thief to catch a thief
The entire free transfers thing is temporary, don’t expect too much work to be put into it. Eventually we’ll have the guesting system for playing on different realms and actual transfers will be costly and have a long waiting period before you can transfer again.
Heart of the Mists is just a hub area with vendors and training dummies and such.
Duelist. It’s exotic armor that you get from map completes in lv 60-80 zones. goes for a gold or so per piece on the TP.
Thief and Sword (No off-hand) ... Stab? (Would be cool if thread)

Stab is OP you just don’t know how to use it. Makes up for any stats in the right hands.
The simple solution is to switch the 2. Make D/D dual skill a succession of quick, light damage stabs
Well death blossom was actually an attack in GW1 that was just good AoE direct damage, and I think this is a good direction to go with it, not just a flurry of blows on a single target.
As for the P/P skill, I’d like to see a little AoE on that as well. perhaps a splinter-shot deal where you shoot once with each pistol and each shot splits to 2 targets on contact, causing a decent burn on the primary target and a very short burn on the secondary targets. It would be a total of two hits and a decent burn on the primary target, and either two hits and a somewhat short burn on one secondary target or one hit and an even shorter burn each on two secondary targets, depending on what’s in range.
edit: It’s worth noting that the damage on secondary targets with death blossom in GW1 ignored armor and wasn’t direct strikes, so everything hinged on hitting the primary target without missing.

Didn’t block any of it? It should block the dagger projectiles but not the reflected projectiles.
Damage does suffer a bit. But you gain a little extra survivability that is lacking on the melee options. For thieves, ranged damage basically means condition damage. And condition damage as a stat is kind of lackluster right now, but is supposed to improve in a future patch.
This picture doesn’t say much… It might as well not even be there :p
Thieves have two spins available.
One is dagger storm, this is one of our elites. You can tell when this one is going off because dagger projectiles fly out everywhere. This one does okay damage, bleeds and cripples, and reflects projectiles back at the attacker, so just keep your distance and let the thief tire himself out. If you’ve got anything of your own that blocks projectiles, you’ll pretty much shut this ability down.
The other spin is Whirling Axe, which is a skill we steal from warriors’ offhand axe 5 skill. This one does not reflect projectiles nor does it throw any out, all it does is decent damage in melee range. so just keep your distance and use ranged attacks to slow the thief down.
The goal was never to destroy WoW. The goal is to change how people see the MMO genre, and improve the quality and diversity of the genre going forward. To show developers that being different isn’t a sin.
Nope, no drops, just for map completes. Someone I did Arah with got one though, for the dungeon-finish reward. Come to think of it that wasn’t really a drop either.
I’m not sure there even really is one. As far as I knew, the next patch is on October 1st.
Check out the link I posted below the OP, one of the Developers posted there would be an update today. =/
Yeah I saw the link, but that was from 13 days ago. it’s possible he was mistaken on the date or that the plan has changed, as I haven’t heard any mention of a 9/27 patch anywhere else since then.

I’m bwillb, and I approve this message. I barely even touch my Asura anymore because the camera is such a pain in the kitten. I even deleted and rerolled my second Asura which was my engineer to make a short female norn instead so I could actually look up without random camera zoom.
3. “Gear treadmill progression blah blah WoW”
There’s plenty of other stuff to do in WoW. Don’t blame the game because you only wanted to do one thing. How much content did you skip or rush through on the way to 85 only to complain that all the game’s content is hidden behind “gear barricades”. Only some of it was, mate – and those of us who experienced it appreciated it for what a special thing it was.
Very little, actually. Only skipped bits in WoW that I didn’t think were fun, such as certain really annoying quests. Almost all of the content I didn’t do in WoW was because of the way it handled raids. Sad thing is, in the raids I did do, most of the people didn’t really want to do the content. People weren’t having fun, and they were easily frustrated whenever the tiniest thing went wrong. They would act like it was a job and anything that prevented them from going home sooner was nothing but a hassle. All they wanted was to get in, get their gear, and then move on to better things. To move on to that always-just-out-of-your-reach “better raid”.
Hmm.. thanks for your input guys, think I’ll stick with S/P for now as I’m definitely more used to it and as Blacksarevok said, I’m gonna use my Shortbow for AoE!

You usually know when you’re going to be in a situation like that and can plan accordingly, though. You don’t have to always have a ranged offset.
After reading these forums slightly worried......

or are not gaining undeserved rewards when not playing, you’re just fine.
I’ve noticed that sometimes I gain medals for events I didn’t touch when I’m just sitting inside a village crafting or selling. I think it happens quite frequently with escort quests that end at a village.
There’s cities besides Lion’s Arch? I do kind of remember going into one for a quest or something… and a few map clears… but it’s all kind of a blur
How does someone who paid for 4 accounts using a multibox program affect you? Nothing is automated, no coding is changed, the only thing that happens is that keystrokes and mouse clicks are mirrored.
Nothing is automated? We’re not talking about someone sending different commands to several different characters separately here. That would be fine, and would probably never even be noticed as a multiboxer. What we’re dealing with is a program that takes everything the first character is doing it and automates sending those commands to the other characters.
What, you want the dynamic events to actually be dynamic? Get the kitten out of here!
Why not both? You’ve got two weapon kits, mix it up
This game does not have a carrot on a stick.
Yet. We have to wait and see how they expand with content patches and expansions before that distinction can really be made. WoW didn’t have too much of a carrot on a stick when it first came out, either.
