Anybody able to access the EotM map?

For people saying they should have a public testing server – no thanks, you just get everyone trying to play in the testing server so they can experience new content first which means nobody is actually playing the current content and the game sort of dies as a result.

We know this to be untrue because plenty of MMOs have a testing server that manages to avoid killing off their audience on the live content. I’m fine with the down time on EotM – we were warned about it prior to the launch and problems were unforeseen. I still think there is merit in the argument that more robust testing prior to today would have been beneficial. Perhaps they could have had an open beta weekend of EotM a week or two ago where EotM could temporarily be available for everyone to try out. Testing in a live environment before the official launch. It would lower expectations of players (the LFG tool is still in beta btw) and it would avoid patch day disappointments and awkward unresolved story progression.

Having played other MMO’s with public testing servers I have to respectfully disagree, but you are of course entitled to that opinion.

The problem with having an open beta test weekend of EoTM is that the exact same thing would have happened. It wouldn’t have worked properly and then people would have complained about it not working and Anet not doing their job – regardless of the beta tag. We’ve seen examples of this constantly with how much people complain about things that are being tested “LFG tool” and even things that haven’t been released yet.

The public test would allow the large-scale problems to be ironed out in an insulated environment, though. Such as if an update caused data corruption when it failed, or caused massive economy destabilization. That likely wouldn’t be caught on a small private test, and I’d much rather have it come out on a public test realm than on the main servers.

I’ve had an FPS drop today as well. Lost about 10fps on average compared to yesterday. I’ve got an i5 4670K and a GTX 760, latest drivers

People are allowed to kick whoever they want. There is no abuse to be reported.

That said, I fully agree that some major changes are desperately needed in PvE to make more builds viable and desired. Doesn’t help when ArenaNet nerfs medium classes based on WvW roamers.

Why would you even count Dailies and Monthlies, and even Living World Achievements in your quest to get to the finish line? The Finish Line should only include permanent achievements anyhow.

The conversation might have evolved a little, but the solutions sure haven’t gotten any better.

I still think that the best system would be to have Leaderboards expanded and make it to where we have seperate leaderboards that track Total, Permanent, Daily, Monthly, and temporary Living World Achievements. Let people filter out what they want to and don’t want to see. This way, the most dedicated will still be the highest achievers in all the land, and those that don’t want to do all the dailies anymore, will still be on top of their respective leaderboards.

The “most dedicated,” as you put it, don’t care about the leaderboards. They want to finish everything they can for the sake of finishing it.
With no cap on dailies, there’s no ‘finish’ to it.

There is no finish in any MMO as long as it still has developer support. That’s the whole point of a persistent world and ongoing development. You might be able to finish what’s there, but more will come. Same as it does with the dailies. Do you make the same complaint every time a new Living Story strand is added? Every time a new PvP season starts? Every time there’s a new holiday celebration?

This isn’t an xbox live arcade or psn game. There is no platinum trophy. There is no 100/100 permanent finish line, and there was never intended to be. If you can’t handle that, it’s probably not the right game genre for you. Have you considered Mario?

They’re all listed as very high population, but the range for that seems to anywhere from almost completely full to a few dozen.

Some people pride themselves in completing the new elitist wurm event. Others pride themselves by farming people who farm the wurm. Welcome to the real jungle. Now deal with it.

@bwillb that actually sounds like a good idea. They have basically taken away any reason to be on one now that the one advantage of no que times is pretty much moot.

Queue’s are still going to matter, just not as critically as before. The nice thing is that you will now be able to actually see what position you are in map queue so you will know right away how far you are from being able to enter the queued map.

Wonder if that same kind of thing could be added to Overflow queues…

As the title hints at when this patch drops do we know that the severs we are matched up with that week; is going to be a free for all?

So if I’m doing a part of the LS some one from another sever can kill me…. This has me worried a little and has me thinking if they go that way I wont bother and I’ve enjoyed 98% of the LS including the recent version of it. Thus I would miss out on part of the scarlet conclusion, would be nice if a dev would answer this.

Why are you so against people killing you or another player? Nothing happens, just a repair bill. Just give it a try?

Been there. Tried it. Didn’t care for it. I liked large scale PvP in Ultima Online, but not in any other MMO i’ve played. Just keep the PvE story stuff PvE.

Open PvP here, the greatest tactic is “waah a thief killed me nerf thieves!” It’s pretty effective, too.

I just did this puzzle on Borlis Pass and the troll is immune to everything. He has no problem running up to me and bashing my face in, but nothing I throw at him does a lick of damage. Tried both ranged and hitting pistol whip, nothing.

Personally I don’t think a queue system that lets you leave the zone would make a lot of sense because people would just queue way in advance and then there would be next to no chance of anyone getting in…

How, exactly? You’d still have to either enter the zone once your time comes or forfeit your spot and go back to the end of the queue. Queue too early and you’ll just be sitting in the zone waiting forever, same as you have to do now if you don’t want to be in overflow.

I would be ok with that system – if the popup saying that the zone was ready worked in the opposite way to how it does now. At the moment if you don’t click a button it just automatically ports you (I think?). If you want that kind of queuing then I want it to require a player to physically click “yes I want to go to this zone now that I’m first in the queue”. Otherwise you’re just going to get afk queuers which doesn’t solve the problem at all.

I’m pretty sure it already makes you hit a button to queue? In any case, leaving the zone wouldn’t be any different than just AFKing in-zone.

As long as Anet is unwilling to put voice chat in the game these events that require a100+ people to coordinate is a horrible design. If people could hear what was going on it would go a lot smoother.

People keep saying voice chat is the answer every time difficult content comes up, but it’s not. As the event stands, it benefits very little to not at all from voice chat. The wardens have tooltips that say how to beat them, people say in chat over and over again how to beat them, guides are up everywhere that tell you how to beat them. But people still get warden 1’s back to a wall, they still take warden 2 all the way around the platform instead of into the mines, etc. Its not that these people don’t have the resources to succeed, it’s that they choose not to. 100 people screaming over each other on voice chat isn’t going to fix that.

How about having it so that when a power regulator is destroyed, the people on that platform are allowed to ride the lightning to another platform to help out? The biggest challenge on this event isn’t the lane defense or warden mechanics. Those are a welcome challenge, but not the one stopping me from having a victory. The challenge stopping me from victory is the one of random distribution. Every single time I’ve done the event there’s been a platform that doesn’t have enough people to succeed while other platforms are done with a minute to spare.

How? They will reach their cap first and stop getting more AP from dailies while you will still get those AP and you will start to catch up.

Also. The problem of temporary living story achievements is another separate issue but we dont talk about it here (at least so far).

But those temporary points do exist, and have been gained already. And a lot of people are doing these events primarily for those points, so I can’t see them being capped or it would kill chances of success especially on servers that are already struggling to get the numbers.

And that raises another concern… What would be the incentive to keep doing dailies and events once you’ve been capped? And for the love of god don’t say higher tiers of gear to grind for.

The suggestions forum was archived in favor of posting in relevant subforums. Team members here already monitor those subforums that are relevant to their work, the suggestions subforum required them to look in multiple places and comb through unrelated suggestions to find those that were relevant to them. We feel that focusing suggestions into the relevant places, team members are more likely to read suggestions that they may be able to act upon.

Which subforum would I go to to suggest an option to turn the kitten ed spell effect visuals down without destroying image quality?

How? If you cap the reward at 5 dailies, and almost everyone is doing 5 dailies a day, how do you catch up? How does this not just solidify the positions of everyone permanently, barring an absence from the game?

We are not talking about small cap each day. We are talking about large cap on total AP you can get from dailies. For example 10,000 or 20,000 or 30,000 or whatever. The amount is a thing to discuss.

Okay, then someone who has been gone a while is still never going to have a chance to catch up to someone who plays every day. Under the current system I’ll never be on top, but I can at least catch up and pass the average player, even if they’ve not had an absence. But with a cap, that places me permanently under people who have not missed any events.

And what do you do about people who have already gotten more than the proposed cap? Take their points away? People won’t like that. What about the reward chests?

And all, what, to satisfy some feeling of accomplishment even though you’re doing less?

I like having a lot of daily points available. I couldn’t play for a year so it helps me catch up to people who have been playing all that time but only do the 5 a day.

I dont see how a hardcap on dailies/montlies/living story would change this

If there’s a cap, and people are hitting the cap, then it’s impossible to catch up. If there’s a cap, and most people aren’t hitting the cap but I am, then I’m catching up much slower. If there’s a cap, and no one is hitting the cap, then the cap was wasted development time.

Seriously the Guild Wars lore is almost everywhere… This Scarlet living story nonsense is out in left field, but most of the main story picks up where Eye of the North left off and a lot of the side story is continuation of Prophesies arcs.

You know there are more story then just the current LS right? Its just kind of the story that on going now there a lot of story hitting at the past game and keeps the story from the last game though 250 years…

Stop saying its a lore thing, that argument only holds so much weight, frankly it is emaciated now.

GW2 is so disconnected from any of the lore to do with its namesake, the best it does is share a few similar names, anything else? Nope. The name is shared for the sake of marketing.

You have to ignore huge amounts of content to say it has no connection to Guild Wars lore… The current Living Story does not, but much of the content does.

This is on just about everyone’s wishlist at the moment. You can diminish it a bit by turning your settings down real low, but then the rest of the game looks pretty bad too.

So if it’s on everyone’s wishlist, that begs the question… ArenaNet? Some crap about artistic vision again like when we wanted an FoV change?

I believe that all that’s left is camera distance increase since they already increased the FOV from the launch setting. My overall disappointment is with the lack of choice given to the player to choose what FOV and Camera distance they would rather play with to enjoy the game comfortably.

Definitely should have given an FoV slider instead of a one time slight increase. Something else that would help drastically, especially with extremely large or extremely small characters, is a vertical camera offset. We have a horizontal offeset slider, why not vertical? I’d much rather have the camera sitting slightly higher than my head rather than behind my lower back when looking forward.

Pls no. Don’t make it a tiered loot treadmill kittenfest like other MMOs, a lot of people came to Guild Wars specifically to get away from that. Fancier skins and minipets and kitten on harder content, sure, but not vertical progression.

But if you are not in a large guild. You probably dont’ like the idea.

I’m not in a large guild, but I’d like if they were instanced. Instanced doesn’t have to mean putting a perfect group together and going in, it could have open lobbies or matchmaking. Instead of having one main server event and several overflow zone events start at the same time, you could have a handful of lobbies that start when they’re full…

It doesn’t drop champion bags in order to prevent people from failing it on purpose and raging at those that don’t go along with it.

And yet some people (like the OP) somehow don’t get it… and yet some other people go completely off-topic with their posts about new tiers of gears and other non-sense.

I guess you missed where the OP said ……

Once players realise they are not going for free loot but they have to -gasp- actually play the game, they will succeed in that event as well.

Funny enough it has had the opposite effect in the Wurm fights I’ve joined. Since nothing drops loot, people want to just ignore every add and finish the event as quick as possible which… doesn’t really work.

Are people still failing on the events? Borlis Pass has been getting at least one chain of the marionette and one Wurm head consistently each time today, and I thought we were the worst PvE server…

you could always make a program that increases your FOV distance,, better for the eyes and anet doesn’t have to spend time on fixing the problem Learn, c++ or c# together with some ASM & memory address knowledge (Just following “how to give good feedback” that anet posted) oh you might want to make an address signature scanner so it doesn’t break when the game updates.

Off topic, Anet your “how to give good feedback” says “no-one knows best”, so anet doesn’t either… so how can anet define what’s good feedback? hmmm

That program already existed and ArenaNet refused to specify whether it was against TOS or not but hinted that it was.

Asura fixes some of the issues, but adds a whole new set of them. For instance, your camera is literally a foot off the ground, which makes a lot of stuff harder, especially trying to look up.

This. I have also ran into an issue where the camera would sporadically zoom in and out again while jumping up certain platforms to reach a vista in the starting zone for Asuras. This pops up again in other maps as well with similar jumps. The weird thing is that there is nothing behind my character that would make my camera do this. It’s a real head-scratcher. Not to mention I love my Charr more than my Asura lol.

I think that’s because we’re so low to the ground that any little bump in the terrain mesh causes a camera issue.

I guess this can encourage other players to go and help in the event, since the usual wipe in this place is to not have enough people due to Full map (and new people is moved to overflows). If there is some groups doing another stuff around instead of killing this machine they’re kinda blocking access to the map to the ones willing to go and kill this big machine.

So… let’s call it karma. Not helping? dead xD.

(I know, not fair, but i can’t think in anything else of why this happens)

Of course if you’re not level 80 and instead an appropriate level range for that zone to be a challenge, you’d be a detriment by trying to help and getting owned on the platforms… Just really bad design choices all around.
