It's disappointing that legendary items require 100% world completion

Ok I think I get what you’re saying now . The thing about the Legenaries though is that they are suppose to be hard to get so if you remove map completion then what do you propose be the new requirement?

I personally think map completion is fine but that WvW be taken out of the equation for it as the mists (where WvW happens ) is not part of the world to begin with according to lore .

I’m fine with them just moving vistas and POI out of the forts. I don’t mind running around WvW trying to avoid being killed. I just hate knowing that a POI or vista is behind something I cannot get to because of the world I’m playing on.

But having them remove WvW as part of 100% map completion is fair too. But I have no clue what they could replace it with.

Your position in wvw Changes every week. You just have to wait for a couple weeks to get most of the poi and vp even if your server suck that hard.

It seems like you just dont want to put in efforts to get an optional item that doesnt effect your gameplay, and you complain about it because it requires somehing you dont want to do.

Its optional. You want it you will have to follow the rule and put in effort to get it. Things in game, at least in the older days, wont be hand to you with a silver spoon. This is the whole point of gaming.

sound like, people like OP just want endless gears grinding game

Sounds like people like us want a reason to play the game besides the grind.

then i think wow is for you.

just wvw and spvp alone has enough reason for people to play the game. There will be more pve contents in the future also.

please, if you guys want to grind for min/max stats, there are literally every single other mmos in the market that let you do so. For once we have a different mmo and you guys come and try to change it into a mmo that you guys abandon.

just… stop. You won’t be here if you like gear grind so much.

You can’t ask people to give you a bandaid solution to a problem just to cause another problem.

You have just written a perfect description of what this patch did.

the time they can code the game to seperate the pve and wvw delay would be enough to fix those bugs. You actually think there is an easy button that would magically seperate those delays?

I could code it in less than one day. I’m sure their programmers could do it in less than one hour. All the game needs to do is check, when you enter WvW, when was your last transfer (something the game already checks when you try to transfer, so it clearly has that information). If the last transfer was less than 24 hours ago, display a message saying “You must wait X more hours before joining WvW after a server transfer.” And, again, that message already appears when you try to transfer a second time, so the code is already in the game.

They’re simply displaying it to everyone (even those transferring just to do PvE) instead of displaying it only when people enter WvW, as they should.

you got the priorty reverse…

and how funny you just ignore your “rift got free transfer like gw2” statment huh?

gw2 is the only mmo out there that allows you to switch server at your will without any cost. In other mmos you will have to pay to transfer server.

Not true. Both Rift and TSW have free server transfers / ways to join your friends on different servers, to name only two (I’m sure dozens of other MMOs that I’ve never played also have them). I’m guessing the only other MMO you know is WoW…

instead of using server transfer to do your events and skill challenge, i think what you need is to ask anet to fix the bugged quests faster.

Oh, I’m sorry. My mistake, then. I’m sure that if I tell them to “fix it faster”, it will magically be fixed faster, and I will be able to do those skill challenges within the next 10 minutes.

Because that’s what I was able to do when the game allowed me to transfer. Go to login screen, pick a different server, do the challenge, go back. Your suggestion is that I keep sending messages to Arena Net saying “You know those bugged skill challenges that 5000 people have already told you about? Fix them faster!”…? Yes, I’m sure that will make a difference.

free transfer delay is here to prevent ppl from exploiting wvw.

Then make it a WvW delay, not a PvE delay. Which is precisely the subject of this thread.

1. i dont know about tsw, but rift only allows you to transfer to a selected server for free. This is completely different from gw2’s transfer function. or would you care to name is a mmo out there that allows you to freely transfer to any servers?

2. i had already explained the source of the problem is bugged quests, not server delay. The solution lies in fixing those bugs asap, not letting you server hop.

You can’t ask people to give you a bandaid solution to a problem just to cause another problem. This is like asking anet to give you free items because the trade post is down.

3. the time they can code the game to seperate the pve and wvw delay would be enough to fix those bugs. You actually think there is an easy button that would magically seperate those delays?

The current restriction means that people cannot play with their friends on different worlds, not realistically.

I have a friend on an EU world and we no longer play together: both of us belong to a guild on our local world and play with them primarily, but sometime we are online when none of the others. Before the restriction, we would switch worlds, play for a few hours, and switch back. That’s not possible anymore, if we also want to play with our guild during their normal play time.

Since WvW matches last a week, why not make the restriction apply for 72 hours just to WvW (and Power of the Mists). That allows PvE people to continue as if there was guesting in place, but prevents people from chasing advantages in WvW.

it’s call joining the same server with your friends.

gw2 is the only mmo out there that allows you to switch server at your will without any cost. In other mmos you will have to pay to transfer server.

Instead of thanking anet, you guys complain how you can’t hop between 20 servers in a day without restriction.

guesting is coming. Wait for it, or transfer to your friend’s server.

i thought people complaining about wp hop cost was ridiculous… then i see people actually complain they can’t server hop now… what the kitten….

GW2 only allows free world transfers because guesting isn’t an option yet. When guesting goes live, I’m sure they will give like a week’s notification before they start charging money for changing servers.

You can’t always play with your friends. I’m on a server with about 5/6 of my friends. One of my friends is on a server with 4/5 of his friends. Neither of our friends want to change servers.

They removed a solution that the players had to participate in to band-aid fix a different issue.

then it’s your friends’ problem that they dont want to play together, not anet’s.

Did i mention this is the only mmo out there with free transfer to any servers? if it’s not enough, then it isn’t the company’s problem that your friends don’t want to play on the same server.

Why not have A SERVER and more districts and people can travel to them anyway they want like in GW1. When you want to go to WvW, they will ASK you what world do you want to represent and you will get a warning that you can’t represent another world for the next “N” hours.
It is that simple. People can jump freely to any server (district) they want in US or EU and enjoy PvE with anyone around the game and ask a charge of gems if people want to represent another world in WvW before the initial timer ends.

that is call guesting, and it will be here soon.

actually guesting was in the game in beta, but i think having 2 millions players in the game requires more refining at the coding.

what did i just read???

1. most servers are still high and full with 2 or 3 medium. This is almost the same as launch and I don’t think anet would secretly lower the cap of the server like swtor to hide the population decline.

2. it took swtor 6 months to implement some sort of server transfer to help the server popular problem. Gw2 has free and instant server transfer since beta. If you think your server is in trouble, transfer to a high/full server.

3. wvw queue time is directly l ink to whether your server is winning or not. If your server doesn’t have a long queue during prime time in wvw, it’s probably because your server is getting own badly in wvw.

4. cystal desert, the last time i checked, was still a full server at 11 pm.. that was two days ago when i try to make sure how high that freaking server is in wvw. You guys either has some spy from jq, or got a wvw guild transfered to other server. I am from dragonbrand btw.

talk about cd… you guys litreally allied with jq when we are even strenght and fought against db… you guys literally dropped the orb of power in front of JQ just to help them push us… so I am not suprise if people won’t log into wvw or just transfer to another server with better honor.

5. this is the most important thing. Swtor is a bad game, this is why it died so quickly. It is just a wow clone with worse engine, animation, and gameplay.

ability delay? ilum taken out due to lag? raid that took a day to c omplete and lock you out for the rest of the week? a on rail style map? that game copied wow so hard that they copy all the bad stuffs from wow in the modern day instead of the good stuffs from vanilla. This is why swtor fails

And unless people really have logic problems nowsday, wp cost IS NOT a gold sink. It is a mechanic to keep the open world as alive as possible.

You know how you make a world that feels alive? You make it alive, you don’t try to force it out of players. Many of us here came under the promise of an event system that made what we do matter. Instead of a world where the same old NPCs standing around the same place they always do, waiting for you to come along and do their chores, except now they have hearts over their head instead of exclamation points.

They obviously missed that mark. But I shouldn’t have to be bilked while enjoying it for what it is.

No, you are describing a single player game.

In a mmo, you AND other people makes the world alive, not playin with npcs. This is mmorpg 101, and the main point that seperate a mmo to a co op game.

It seems like you actually expect this game to be a co op game

Hit level 80...what's left to do but grind out gear skins?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: carson yuen.6739

carson yuen.6739

To all the people above me who obviously did not read my wall of text:

I do not raid in other MMO’s to get cool looking gear. I raid in other MMO’s because the raid itself is fun and challenging. I could care less about my gear; once I find a decent looking set I tend to use appearance slots/transmutation zones to keep that set anyway.

GW2 is exactly the same as other MMO’s in that you have to grind out gear. The only difference is that GW2 gets rid of the only fun reason for having that gear. Dungeons are nowhere near challenging, even in explorable mode.

And yes raids have lockouts, which I’ll be the first to admit is very annoying. However there are multiple raids (even Rift, which is not that old and is my favorite standard MMO, has 6+ raids). Thats a raid for every night so I fail to see how lockouts are that big of a deal.

TL;DR
GW2 has not gotten rid of grinding. It has not eliminated the “carrot on a stick”. It has simply eliminated the carrot and done nothing with the stick by removing the one thing that grinding was used for. Other MMOs have a carrot of “grind for cool gear with better stats so you can do amazingly fun raids”. GW2 has a carrot of “grind for cool gear so you can…do nothing with it”.

1. It was challenging and fun whe it first came out, then they would just become a button mashin gear check raid.

The games that has raids are still here, you can still go to those games and play them anytime. Gw2 has a different system of endgame. There may be a larger scale dungeon encounter in he future ( wow released with a 10 men raid and didnt have the 40 men contet until a couple months later), but it is no a good idea to use the raid system as a comparsion.

2. Saying there is nothing to do other tha gear grind will not help anything. Jnstead, you can make suggestion on how to make exp mode better, such as more advance boss/minions ai, a more noticable tell on their big attack, etc etc.

In the mean time, there is always wvw, the most unique pvp experience since daoc and shadowbane.

So you think raiding two nights a week just to get a differeny skin with a little bit higher stat is better than fighting dungeons to collect tokens to get new skin?

The only difference between wow’s raid and tw2s exp mode is that one lock you out for a week just to give you a chance to get a gear, and one gives you tokens.

What do you do in wow or other mmos after they lock you out of the raid for the reat of the week?

And for some reason, people seems to really miss the raid system even tho they dont even want to play those anymore.

So players nowaday really think teleporting from way pointa to way points until they see an event is the way to play a mmo with persistent world??

This is exactly the reason why the cost of wp is so high. The game is suppose for people running around in the open world meeting others, NOT teleporting like a mad man and zone hopping.

The cost of wp is also the same reason why there is no mounts. THEY DONT want you to skip contents constantly.

And unless people really have logic problems nowsday, wp cost IS NOT a gold sink. It is a mechanic to keep the open world as alive as possible. This means you can see ppl running around in the wild, instead of zone hopping.

There is very little end game, go look at the numerous posts on the inital two pages of this forum. IF your looking for serious pve content youd best look elsewhere.

The game is mind numbingly easy and the most single player anti social MMO i have played.

The no trinity system is a clusterkitten.

Evrything has inflated costs or intends to annoy you so much that you reach for the crdit card and buy gold via the Black lion trading company.

All just my opinion of course.

Woah woah, single-player and anti-social? Really? This is a VERY social game, at least on Blackgate it is. People are always just randomly chatting with each other, making new friends, finding people to play with. It’s pretty rare to be doing a dynamic event, for example, without a bunch of other people there, helping each other.

In fact, this is probably the most friendly MMO community out there, it blows my freakin’ mind! I’ve played a lot of MMOs and most are full of kitten bags and idiots, people not wanting anything to do with the people they’re playing with (which is kind of redundant in itself), crap like that. In this game, people help each other just to help each other, no need to ask, no need to offer, it just happens.

I don’t believe that, during dynamic events majority are there for the xp/Karma and prospect of reward. They never say a word from my personal experiences from 1-80. It’s just a completely unsocial and chaotic aspect of the game.

SPVP, Dungeons and WvW are more or less the same, you will probably get people talking a lot more in WvW I would hardly say it’s social though. It’s more or less someone making fun of someone for suggesting to zerg an area. or just generally someone trying to order people around.

This game is a major disappointment, and I can’t see myself playing it in future, maybe if the changes they implement improve it vastly, I’ll consider looking at the game more but right now, the search goes on for the next MMORPG.

I really wanted GW2 to be the next best MMO, but it’s too mediocre for me, the game doesn’t immerse me enough, the game doesn’t push the boundaries of realism enough. It’s simply not addictive. It’s dulled down so everyone and their granddad can play it. It’s too easily accessible to play classes with a poor skillcap.

Maybe instead of searching for the next mmo, you should just stop playing a mmo.

Clearly mmo isnt a genre for you.

Quit this game within 2 days of buying it.

Noi it´s not grinding you can choose simply don´t play. This game and anet is allobout false promising. I was hyped in this game before and till lvl 60 after 80 it went to bottom line I must say.
PVE is like an asian Grinder. Dungeons are really bad designed. They gone with the holy trinity but what do they come with? 3000 Bugs in this game therefore 500 in professions grind quests no blalance in pvp and so on.
This is another game that went out too early.

What is important to be more specific about the grind:
In mmos you want to progress in groups this game doesnt offer that in high quality.
It has boring dungeons a boring metagame in pve in general. There are no ladders in pvp so can´t really se how good you are or better how teamplay is working and that is making you better or say how competitive your team is. Gear isn´t that important but this is.
In this game its really difficult to get a group at all. And the group play which is available is poor designed 8vs8 or dungeons aka zergefest and zergfest for grind.
Grind=no ki involved and no tactics

And rewards from kills/events need to be scale by your characters level, not the zone.

So here are a few list of suggestion:

1. DR needs to be here to prevent farming at one spot/zone. But the effect needs to be zone base. This means you should not get any dr if you move to a new zone.

2. The duration and limit of the dr effect needs to be base on the level of your zone. So if you stay on a level 1-15 zone, you will trigger the dr effect faster than in 25-40 zone.

3. The rewards from events and your kills, this includes exp, karma, drops, mats, and gold, should be scale by your level, not the zone’s level. This means you will get level 80 drops in the starting area. However, u will start seeing the dr effect trigger a lot sooner because ofthe difficulty the zone has.

I think this system will help solve the current problem of people not being anle to farm mats, or they dont want to move from map to map because the lower level maps dont drop the things they need.

This system would attract people traveling again because the reward justify their action while prevent people to stay in one apot to farm.

Imagine the level 80s start to travel to any map they want knowing they will be rewarded. It will be a blast.

Please bump if you like this idea.

Taking out the cost between wait points, and people will start to just teleport around the world constantly. It would kill the open world like how wow killed theirs with dungeon finders.

Why would anet want you to teleport around at will when they had put so much efforts on their enviorment and events? Heck why would you want to play a mmo with a persistant world if all you want tk do is to teleport from wp to wp?

Not to be mean or anything, but this is one of the dumbest things I have ever read on an internet forum >_>

I don’t think you understand the scale here. You can’t back your game servers up on a USB thumb drive. How long do you think it would take to back up your ENTIRE laptop? The whole thing. Their servers are considerably larger than your laptop. It takes more than an hour to back these things up.

really, i dont think you understand that something massively more expensive and an Expected reliability on servers are massively higher then a cheap POS computer from bestbuy

Gw2 has one of the best launch in the recent mmo history. Their server IS reliable. You can literally count how many hours of downtime since release with one hand.

Of course, its unfair to hope someone like you to accept this fact. What can you expect from someone who think a program bought from walmart can do a better job anet is doing.

Rollback. Really?

unfortunately home laptops have the ability to constantly backup changes and AT LEAST hourly backups

ANet’s servers apparently back up every 24 hours, cause thats the amount of time i lost

Go to Walmart, pick up a $50 verson of the Crap Norton and it will do a better job of backing up the Character Databases then whatever they got going

Congrat!
You just won the dumbest post of the year!

One bad thing about a popular online game is that they always attract kitten kitten kitten kittens like this guy here.

And to the op, its a 30 min rollback. Live with it like a man.

Remove the level reduction when moving from area to area.

It can be more than just a mini game.

A moba type of spvp will keep people occuply in gw2 for years…… At least imho.

This Game Is Nothing But Frustrating After Level 40

M i the only one who think the op should go back to wow?

At least the forum will be more quiet…..

Seriously even by west coast’s standard… Its 2 am here… Are you really blaming anet that you cant find ppl?

Also, most de are soloable if you arenot under level…. But judging by your iq, you are probably trying to solo des that are 4-5 levels higher than you, and complIn about no one there for you to leech the exp.

Please, go back to wow …..

Client crash in wvw. Been in queue 2+ hours. Unacceptable

Unacceptable means you will not play wvw again until its fix.

Its more like… Unpleasant, very unpleasant….

Suggestion: Mini pets need to be auto release

The mini pet system in gw2 has a lot of problems right now:

1. Mini pets will disappear when you change zone.

2. They disappear when you died

3. They disappear when you get out of overflow

4. Or get into spvp

5. Or wvw

6. They will be move to collectible bank unless they are in a safe lockbox.

Basically to sum it up, keeping your mini pet up in gw2 requires a lot of micro managments. This leads to discouraging people to use them regularly….

Suggestion for the change:

Minis need to be treat like a piece of armor. When you equip one of those, they will appear automatically any time any where without the need to use them.

This way people can just use and forget about taking them out everytime they log on or worrying about tem going directly to the bank every time you collect your crafting mat.

State of the game.

Still alot of people on dragonbrand… Althought the lower level zones are less populate than release, this is expected because players are more spread out.

People also will not play as intense as release, this is a given in any games online or offline.

The state of the game, at least on dragonbrand, is still doing very good.

Bored already !
