Based off how I read it, PvP armor seem to be look but no stats.
So if you want the stats, gotta go through PvE dungeons to get it.
I think this means that a set you take from PVE into PVP, it will be statless in PVP. But if you used it in the open world, it has the stats.
Regardless, lets calm down about the “oh dungeons are useless now”. Think about it…you still need to grind to high heaven most likely to acquire the sets via sPvP. Or, simply run the dungeon. Pick your poison. Run dungeons for gear or sPvP. Personally, I’ll still run dungeons.
The only set that I can see people being PO’d about is the Arah set since its the hardest to acquire.
With one of the tower updates, and the upcoming sPvP updates, they have added and are adding more healing skills to the game. Where are the utility skills and/or weapon skills?
Scavenger hunt will most likely be pushed to 2014. Are the rest of the skills being pushed back as well?
Thanks. Maybe a few pieces might help a bit..maybe not the entire set?
In general, what types of traits or abilities do not benefit from +healing? Im thinking of gearing up my Guardian for support/tank, with staff + mace/shield, and I was wondering if its worth gearing with +healing.
I know there are some abilities that do not scale with +healing so Im trying to figure out which one of those dont.
Im on lvl 28, but have repeated mid 20s quite a bit. Especially in the last week..
Definitely getting tired of the same fractals.
What traits, skills, abilities, etc do not benefit from +healing? I figure this would be easier than asking what does benefit from it.
Im considering gearing up my guardian for support and wondering if it is worth it to pursue +healing.
Thanks
Aside from one run, every single run into FoTM since the patch has given me cliffside and Molten. And we have been getting cliffside for the #1 or #2 fractal each time, but thats beside the point. Tired of seeing these two. Is your randomizer working!?
My group and I were on the bonus boss in FoTM when the instance booted everyone out and reset the entire thing. I refused to go back in. 1.5 hours down the drain. Im immensely PO’d right now. f
Thanks for wasting my time.
My group and I were on the bonus boss, everyone got ported out of FoTM and the whole thing reset. 1.5 hrs gone down the drain. No one knew what happened.
I don’t even want to get involved in this thread due to my immense loathing for the living story, however I feel a sense of duty to fight the good fight.
I agree with everything. The content patches, on the majority, are grind fests. Grind your way through a boring story, arc’d around a horribly written villain, for new skins and new minis. Lame and boring.
Fractured is an example of an update that is really good. It took a piece of the game, upgraded it and gave you a reason to participate in it again. Good work.
Another update should do the same to ALL dungeons, revamping the boss mechanics and fix the dungeons so that the mobs do not stop following you until you kill them(thus removing the desire of running through a dungeon past every mob to the boss). Revamp the boss mechanics, as you said you were going to but have not done so yet.
Another update should be on the world bosses…Teq 2.0 was ambitious, but no one does it anymore. Its overtuned. 80 people is a bit much. Nerf it, and change up the mechanics of the rest of the world bosses instead of throwing more HP into the mix.
Another update could focus on WvW and some how encouraging more havoc squads and less blobbing around.
Another update could focus on giving us reasons to play in all zones, any zones that we want instead of funneling us into one LS zone and Queensdale.
Its not hard to think of meaningful things to focus on. Living Story should not be one of them.
I dont think the game is necessarily designed around berserker. It just depends on whos behind the keyboard. I think that a group with a support guardian, support eli, mesmer, etc in a dungeon like CoE or Arah fairs better than a group of 5 zerker warriors(or some variation of berserker).
In any case, this isnt a debate about game design. I switched over to D/D, but wondering if anyone has any specific specs they could recommend for either D/D, Staff, or S/D?
Question: I switched servers during the season. If I didnt participate in WvW on my new server for the rest of the season, will I still receive credit/reward?
How does this work?
Hi, so fo the first 40 levels i went d/d running with a might stacking build. It got boring as all i would do is pop combo fields, run through the attunements and pop finishers. It is also unforgiving if you mess up.
So for the last 5 levels ive been running a staff build staying in fire a lot but the build has no real focus and feels weak.
Any suggestions on a leveling build, playstule, and gear setup? Much appreciated.
There are a few areas in the game where mobs are right on a border, so if you move farther towards the level 23 area, you should be 23. The same can also happen in reverse. I was in an area once where I was something like 50, and the mobs were a low 40. The funny thing about it is they die similar to critters.
In other cases, you may encounter higher level enemies when an event is being scaled for many people, though it’s only usually +1-4 levels.
Ill check it out again, with mobs being on the border of different leveled areas… but it was not a matter of upscaling an event or mobs. There was no one else around
Im in brisband wilds on my lvl 23 engineer. Im downleveled to lvl 17. I head further into the zone where lvl 23 mobs are, and Im still downleveled to 17. How come I wasnt brought up to my natural level?
Are they removing the skin they just put in?
I agree. I use a BLSK or a mystic kit(when I dont have a BLSK) on rares for the increased chance in ectos. If all I get is one elder wood, or one mithril ore, or a rune/sigil, I won’t make any more mystic kits and I won’t buy any BLSK. Ill spend a few copper and get a crude kit.
This is getting credulous. Its been like this for a while now, and I thought this had been corrected long ago.
Curious what the rate of return for salvaging lvl 80 rares with Black Lion Salvage Kit and Mystic Salvage Kit are?
Im hardly getting anything these days with either. Has something changed?
Im getting as much as I would if I salvaged with a crude kit.
For example, I just salvaged a lvl 80 rare with a mystic kit, and received one Elder Wood. Thats it.
Hi,
Fear not about missing out on WvW or dungeons. They are always there, you can always run them. Once you hit 80, grab some exotics or rares, and be on your merry way. Just mention in party chat that youre new to the dungeon. Or, if you want to be a step ahead, youtube the dungeon.
The only thing that youre going to be behind in with the game is Living Story, ascended gear, and possibly at some point fractals
(FoTM) once the majority continue past lvl 30 again.
But regular dungeons and WvW, dont worry.
A few questions…
What kind of ‘progression’ exists in sPvP? You gain Glory, but to what end?
Can you ‘show off’ this progression in the open world?
As a new player, will I be placed in matches with other noobs?
Thanks!
Do what you need to about topic selection and rotation. Up to you.
I personally will have less to say about WvW(even though I do enjoy it) and even less to say about sPvP.
Lets look at this from a different perspective. The only reason Agony exists in FoTM is to give you an increasing challenge every time you hit a certain threshold in levels. Since theres a damage output cap that they cannot cross in terms of boss/mob damage, and they know now that HP sponges are not interesting, they have to introduce something else to keep us reaching. So they give us an irremovable condition called Agony, and a grindy way to defend against it.
Thus, Agony is a lazy mechanic designed to keep us ‘progressing’ our characters and keep us playing, instead of..I dont know, designing more difficult chalannges? I’ll admit, they are getting better with boss fights. But throwing in something that can’t be removed as a way of ‘gating’ this content, is just pure lazy.
They could remove agony resist(and thus the need for ascended gear really), and put more time into designing difficult and interesting encounters that we can unlock as part of progression…thus rendering these discussions pointless.
I’ll keep this as brief as possible.
Overall, the changes to FoTM were pretty good. I can understand a lot of the higher level fractal folks being upset, however, with their level reset to 30.
The ‘story mode’, in my opinion was a waste development time, development resources, and our time. There is absolutely no reason to have added this in as a requirement to continue on with fractals. It was just in the way. It was nothing more than frustrating because my group, at least, had no idea what to do. There was no direction in game. And on top of that, you did not QA the dungeon for a waypoint! A simple waypoint! This was completely unnecessary and a waste of everyone’s time. And I dont think anyone asked for this, or even whispered about wanting some sort of story mode that had zero impact on the overall flavor of FoTM.
The new fractals are good. Keeping with the tradition of interesting bosses and mechanics within FoTM, you guys have done a good job at implementing things like Molten Facility into a FoTM format, so much that it is not very long and yet it is challenging and interesting. Kudos.
The changes to infusions on gear and now being craftable via artificing…still unsure. I like being able to slow craft up some infusions. I think thats pretty good unless someone can point out some negatives (other than having to have an artificer to do it and more ‘crafting to win’…). Im still trying to wrap my head around the changes to infusion on gear. If other people can touch on that, please do.
I ran the story mode, and 2 sets of fractals in one day. I am now 9 out of 11 achievements done for the meta. I like this. Its not feeling grindy(yet) and I’ll be able to achieve this without ripping my eyes out. However, the daily achievement ‘Daily Fractal Runner’ is bugged for me(Ive submitted a report), where I have not received credit for it yet and Ive completed 2 sets already.
Overall, the fractured update is pretty good. This is the first real good patch in a while, from my perspective, and I think that is because it has very little(if any thing) to do with the overall arcing Living Story. See how that works? Put true content in the game, and its good stuff. Focus on Scarlet and her horrible Living Story, and its just a silly grind. 11 achievements is still a bit much but for this update you acquire them quickly. Please, in the future, because Im sure future achievements wont be so easily obtained, reduce the number of achievements. And finally, get rid of scarlet.
Ive run fractals twice today, completed each time, and I have not received the daily achievement for it. What gives?
Story mode….frustrating and had no information where to go next.
Once we got to the boss, anomaly, he was pretty cool. More bosses like that please.
This is just ridiculous. Good intentions for the patch I guess but my god. Another enormous dropped ball.
Not having a WP in there is a clear indication that they do not QA their stuff..and uhm why is this?! Oh, we have a time table to push sub-par content out! we must get stuff out the door every 2 weeks!
This is the shining example why you cant do this, arenanet.
Change your cadence please.
Well…first they make you run through a story mode, and then forget to put a waypoint in there. Yeah…QA team definitely exists.
Why am I being forced to do a story mode of a dungeon that Ive done countless times?
Why is there even a story mode at all now?
Oh I see, you do get them from chests in fotm. KK
That..doesnt answer the question. In the TP I see +1 agony infusions. Are those drops from fractals, or are they crafted somewhere/somehow? I dont know how to get those basic infusions and go from there..the +1 agony infusion
Silly question..but where can I find +1 Agony Infusion? Im trying to upgrade/craft higher level infusions on my artificer but I dont know where to get these.
Thanks,
who tested this?
Meanwhile at ArenatNet:
Hahahaha. I remember this video, someone posted it about another problem with GW2 way way back in the day..maybe early launch or something. Its just funny.
But I can’t help at laugh at the major goof here hahaha. Woo! Thats something you shouldnt overlook. Was going to do fractals tonight, maybe I’ll wait.
One of the things arenanet got right was their gem store. This is not a pay to win game. I think you are confused. Pay 2 win means you spend real $$ to gain power over people that don’t spend real money. I.E. I could spend, for example, 10 dollars in the cash shop of an MMO, to get superior weapons and gear that is not otherwise found in the rest of the game. And by superior, I mean stat wise. If there is no way to obtain that gear in game, and the only way to get the superior statted gear is through the cash shop, that is pay to win.
For GW2, you spend $$ in the gem store for skins that have zero impact on a characters power.
Unless you plan on walking around Lion’s Arch like a runway model.
Not to mention, especially lately, when backpedaling, and hitting any other button seems to crash my game frequently./
When I backstep, often now the game is crashing. When I reload the game, I am getting commercials audio for insurance companies, or xfinity, or some random GW2 audio.
A LOT more crashing though..
Why would kits scale with ascended gear? Aren’t kits simply replacing the abilities that other classes have? And they don’t scale…
I would love for the grenade pack to be on auto cast. Im moving around with my mouse and keyboard, aiming with my mouse, and spamming 1. It can be annoying and makes the hand tired.
Anyone agree?
Regarding asura and small gear/weapons: This is the primary reason I never chose smaller races in other MMOs, like gnomes or dwarves in WoW. I guess Im not lookin to be ‘boss’ looking with my engineer, because medium armor is teh pits in this game. But I just dont want to look silly either.
Regarding Charr: I dislike the ’ on all fours’ running animation they have, and they do have aesthetic issues of their own. I cannot see a Charr with a hat on or whatever. Or a face mask. Just looks funny to me.
I chose Asura. So far so good.
As long as the DPS meter is for the player alone, and not their party, I’m all for it.
I’ll agree to this. Im against a DPS meter being shared party wide. And oh I’ll be so PO’d when groups will be posting in their LFG message ‘must ping DPS after each fight’ or something like that.
I just don’t think a DPS meter is right for GW2.
There are a lot of things that go along with a traditional MMO, where I am OK with their existence in those MMOs, but would not work in GW2.
-Gear treadmills/carrots
-raiding
-dps meters
-pure tanks/healers
@OP: That quote is many months, to over a year+ old. Its not set in stone that they will increase the cap, but they probably will. And how do you know it will be 90?
This is pointless.
Im looking to create a new character, an engineer. Either Charr or Asura only because I have not really played either of them yet.
How does the medium gear(i.e. trench coats, hats, etc) look on either of them? How do they look throwing grenades?
Thoughts?
-Guild Missions : More like ‘actitivies’ to do with the guild, rather than traditional instanced content. OK for this type of game I guess, but not my cup of tea.
-Living Story : Horrible attempt at story telling and content addition, with lots of it being temporary, RNG, zerg, and achievement grinding. With this, they update the game every 2 weeks so if you miss out on some achievements or content, you miss out. Theres a lot of debate around living story whether or not its good for the game.
-Achievement point rewards : At certain thresholds you get rewards like 1 gold, X amount of magic find, and a skin.
-Magic find removed from gear and placed on the account. Blues/Greens can be salvaged for essences of luck which increase magic find account wind.
-Account wallet : organized all currencies into one location, account wide. Fantastic addition.
-Open world, for the most part, is void of players unless they are map completing, leveling, or it is a living story area.
-More, lots more, ascended gear and the game has been driven into the depths of a light gear treadmill or carrot on a stick.
Just to name a few.
Worth coming back: Sure, maybe. Ive been back and forth with the game. I really like the classes, the world, wvw a bit, and some DEs. Im trying to ignore all the poor decisions they are making design wise, but its hard, and sometimes I want to leave the game again.
Um, thanks, Nike. I think we shouldn’t have to resort to ‘formatting schemes’ to have our posts read, but whatever works. I get the feeling it may be all for naught, anyway. The other threads are like ghost-towns. I will leave it in your more capable hands. =)
I somewhat disagree. There have been posts in the cdi that were a bit obnoxious with overly large bolded font that was formatted more than the usual post. Whether or not these are attempts to illicit developer response, i dont know. Obnoxious regardless.
- Getting lost, as mentioned above. Exploring the world with your first char is amazing. You just wanna get that waypoint and then call it a day. The next thing you know is you’re following that small river upstream only to find yourself in a beautiful cave that turns out to be a jumping puzzle. The attention to detail is incredible.
- The approach to gaming; play for fun, and not for the loot. No grind. (well… the idea was good until it was sacrificed to the farmbot overlords…)
- Epidemic (Necromancer skill). So much fun!
- B2P
Can’t find a fifth one, so I will just leave it at that.
Regarding epidemic: I agree, I only wish that when playing in groups that the mobs aren’t near death before you can get full stackaroos on the target and then epidemic it out…
I agree that there definately needs to be some sort of armory or closet or something where we can re-use skins we have acquired whether it be stat-less skins or statted gear. Even if it would cost karma or something to withdraw..
You just do… we all have. Or find someone to help you out. Sometimes theres someone running around. Or have a look at http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html and guest to a server where the temple is open where you need to get the different POIs and all.
Chris, when you return could you comment on the response and implimentation trnaround for some of the ideas we have put forth? Im not talking about exact timeframes but for things like adjusting the amount of achievement grind, for example…is that something that could happen relatively quickly like a mon or two…or are we looking at many months before we see and result of these discussions.
I know internal discussions need to happen, coding, etc… But on some of the topics we talked about for living story, the amount of my playtime may be determined by how quickly some of thisgetsput in. Thanks
Hi Cesmode,
Generally when we agree on a point it means that we will discuss it with the team and go from there. Reducing the "grind’ in achievements is something we have been working on for a while and the last topic discussion has only furthered our commitment to get the balance right sooner. We can’t give a timing cadence on specific features but we can talk about changes or evolutions to our design philosophy.
In my summary i listed the points we agree with and those that we will look into again. I hope this helps?
Chris
Well i was looking for something like…when you agree on an idea internally does it take months to become reality? My interest has been waning because of the things we have been discussing and i was looking to see if there is light a the end of the tunnel sooner rather than later.
How do people make money with this? In one hour i only made 2 gold 30 silver . I sold everything i got. Ive made more doing the cof p1 farm.
Is this what ppl really consider profit for time spent?
1. Art and graphics
2. Personal story
3. The mesmer class
4. Wvw
5. Dynamic events in open world(the ones launched with the game)
