Yu-huh, im still laughing, though tears have stopped now.

“i have 2 legendaries but i dont grind…AT ALL”

ahhahahahahhahaaah

SO TRUEE!!im laughing and tearing up as well T^T.Or maby buying all the mats will real money through tp if that’s not the case.

Or learning how to actually play the game….that works too.

Id say after 5 max level characters, 3 decked out in exotics and ascended (ascended up through accessories that is), 1100+ played in the game…I can say that I know “how” to play GW2. And I still havent accumulated the wealth needed for a precursor, or the luck needed to get a drop.

You picked up a 25 gold precursor. You seriously can’t compare your 25 gold precursor to most of the other ones, such as spark, the lover, dusk, etc. When you say “I dont grind, and I acquired a precursor(that cost 25 gold)”, you lose all credibility.

I’ve been very public about how and where I got both my precusors. I’ve also said that I wouldn’t have cared one way or another. If a precusor hadn’t dropped, I’d still be playing the game and waiting for one. And I know for a fact it wouldn’t affect my game at all, because I’m not gear driven.

My first legendary, the only land one, is on a character I don’t even use. It’s just not that important to me. It’s not why I play.

Making comments about my credibility when you clearly have no idea of what’s been discussed does nothing for yours.

Sorry I cant keep track of everyone’s gear and where they got it from, even if you’ve said it in a thread before.

Currently people are either really lucky from a drop or the forge, or spend gold on the AH. Or they were one of those people who benefited from the karka event fiasco.

Most of the playerbase is subject to spending a ton of money in the AH for a precursor, or getting really lucky.

Just sayin…

I did not see this. Thanks for posting. I can understand never promising things, especially to players like myself , but it doesnt make one any less uneasy.

Plus, since legendary armor and accessories appear to be coming…wouldnt that be a new tier? Did arenanet say if legendary armor will be better than ascended ? or same stats?

People … it’s time to say farewell to Guild Wars 2. Tag me if you know another good f2p mmorpg to play instead (i’m 100% serious, can’t keep up with this grinding crap forever).

And you’re going to find a free to play MMO with less grinding?

That’s pretty funny. Good luck with that.

GW1?

Not an MMO. Try harder.

GW2 has the least grind of all commercial AAA MMOs I’ve played. As for GW1, let’s not forget the amount of money or time it took to fill the HoM, let alone max Luxon. But it was all well spent.

Can you tell me what AAA MMOs you have played longer than one or two months?

For me, it is:
WoW, Tera, GW2, Neverwinter, Rift (all longer than two months).
GW2 has the most grind, by far. Tera is a close second, but I still give it to GW2.

More currency grinding, more Hello Kitty-like side games, more gear grinding, more mindless zerg content….. that’s all I have seen with the past few updates.

I would pay $10 for a new zone and dungeon, or a more in depth personal quest series, I will not pay $10 for a pink, or glowy back item, or another disconnected item like “How to Dance”.

The people praising all the “content” I assume are limited in MMO gaming. As much as people bash other MMO’s at least “real” content that you paid for (i.e. expansions) brought things to the game such as Zones, Dungeons, Races, Classes, Skills, and Gear. And not “RNG hope you get lucky, no skill needed”, gear such as everything in GW2.

Not to be a downer but the fact that I have not been playing since launch like a lot of people (only some months now), and I am getting annoyed with the “No Grinding” turning into utter BS from Anet. I started playing GW2 to get away from that crap. And now its pretty much going the direction of “Guild Wars2, the fluff content and gear grind MMO”.

Not sure how much more I want to progress.

This pretty much sums it up too. Instead of new perma zones, perma dungeons, perma content, perma skills, classes, races, personal story additions, threats to the game(i.e. everything that you immerse yourself in 1-79), we get: disjointed story, mini games, more currencies, more “rewards”, mini pets, skins(which are good), gem store cash grabs, RNG, temporary zones, temporary instances, temporary dungeons, zergs, gold farming, ascended gear.

Anyone see a problem?

@shelle: Well, no one forced you to dump that much money into the mystic toilet. I probably put nearly as much to be honest. But we cannot blame arenanet for those kinds of choices that we make.

We can scrutinize their decisions to move this game toward more grind than any MMO on the market.

I seriously would spend more time doing “un fun” activities in this game than I would in a traditional Verticle Progression game that knows how to do VP well. Im not against VP, but do it properly and not via this insane materials gathering, luck bathing, time gated nonsense. Let us earn it from completing difficult content. No, the troll in queensdale is not difficult. The new tequatl might be. This remains to be seen. Even still, remove all of this crafting BS for ascended gear, and have the exact items dropped in chests from Orr temples, or revamped world bosses.

My post was deleted because it was not positive. About a quarter of all that is posted in these forums is positive.

Onto the topic: They pump out content at a rapid pace which is admirable. However, prior to doing so I had doubts to their ability to do this. Quantity over quality it seems. The two week content has not been met with massive open arms as they might say in front of cameras. It is regarded, not only in these forums but in game as well, as nothing more than check boxes, achievement mongering, currency farming, zerging, disjointed story,mini-game filled material.

I would rather pay for mini expansions that have substantial content and quality over two week rapid-spit fire content.

People that keep falling back on that no grind statement are like people that take the bible literally. Annoying.

As annoying as those bible people are, they are entitled to voice opinions and whatnot.

This is the first MMO/online game that I have been so frustrated over due to broken promises or grey promises. No other dev has made such bold statements prior to launch. Other devs simply say “We will have dungeons, there will be raids. There are three factions where you can acquire better gear. There will be guild housing”. Arenanet said “There will be no grinding”…depends on your definition I guess? “There will be no treadmill”. Depends on your definition of treadmill? “The champion you killed wont spawn 10 minutes later” Oh, I guess you should have said you were referring to personal story.

No other dev aside from GW2 made such bold promises to the playerbase prior to launch to lure them in. Now that we see these promises or statements were just a few shades of grey, it infuriates a lot of people and people are walking away from it, especially with this patch.

Put it this way: I am having more fun in Neverwinter/Defiance/Firefall than this AAA mmo at the moment. Reason: No grind. No time gating. Do what I want when I want.

Hows Firefall, was eyeing it for a while and nows a good time to try?

Its a good shooter in open world. Crafting is a huge cornerstone of that game and is ridiculously intricate. Best crafting system Ive seen in a game. I enjoy it from time to time. I dont want to get into describing other games too much so that this thread is locked. I merely compared and contrasted my enjoyment with other games and my enjoyment in correlation with ascended gear and grind in guild wars 2 (which was supposed to be my non-grindy and non VP game).

But it is free to download and play.

Defiance? Never heard of it, what is it about?

I did try Neverwinter & Firefall but can’t say they were any better than GW2. Neverwinter was a grind for leveling up (killing mobs and doing pointless quests).
Firefall just left me wandering cluelessly.

I still hope there are better mmos out there than GW2 though. If GW2 is the best one there is, the whole genre is messed up.

The whole genre is messed up. That’s the problem.

This is why, other than GW2 and I guess Neverwinter, I have been gravitating toward different types of massive online games. Defiance gives you a gun, in an open world and space with other players, and just lets you play. No guiding hand other than a main story which you can completely ignore. I complete main missions when I want, side missions when I want, participate in ark falls and sieges when I want, hotshots/rampages/emergencies/time trials when I want. No fear of being slightly less powerful. It is all equalized. You customize your playstyle and progress via the insane amount of weapons you pick up. The “what I want when I want” is what GW2 tried to be but failed and is now in a downward spiral toward VP, grind, and time gated crap.

no grind at all, because u can buy everything on the auctionhouse. its a joke that the only endgame content is purchasable by spending real money.
the “no advantage” if u dont spend money on the auction house is over. u can buy a legendary with best stats in game instantly for c.a.kittens just wrong to upgrade them with the patch. stats shouldnt change. there should only be the option to upgrade them to ascended.
legendary has alsways been about the skin. now its about the stats. since ascended weapon crafting is gated its pain in the a….
basicly it means if i dont want to wait 2 weeks to get the best stats ingame i just need to spend some cash and buy a legendary.

this is against everything gw2 stands for. the f2p gemshop thing is a nightmare….

not allowed to write c…a…s…h…. w…t….f…

Ascended is a permanent addition… it is NOT time gated.

You do not know what time-gated means. It is time gated.

Time gated means that the developer has placed restrictions on how often you can acquire the materials or items themselves. This way, you are unable to acquire all of it in a few days.

However, a lot of people play only an hour or two a night.maybe 3. These people will have a difficult time accumulating the necessary requirements for ascended gear.

I play an average hour a day, maximum, due to having a big house to take care of, one school kid and one toddler (and soon more.)
I was able to get a Legendary weapon with that amount of time.
It didn’t take me 1 month as to some HC players, but I have it.
I don’t see how it impairs anyone with small amount of time, as they have also small amount of time to dungeon run, event run, champ hunt, or whatever.

Get lucky with a precursor drop, spend real money in the TP for one, or get it within the first two weeks of the games release, or during the failed karka event?

That scenario IS ok. They take the risks, and we can vote with our feet and our wallets on every given day.

SW:TOR talked ENORMOUS smack against the free to play model, then turned around and implemented a really stupid version of it a year later – their privilege, but I don’t pay a subscription OR play for free there any more.

And SWTOR is still as horrible as it was.

Bad example.

Here is to hoping that I actually get some rng luck on my side since my highest crafting level is like 10. I rarely craft in any mmo and to now make a BiS piece of gear more or less exclusive to crafting is just ugh for me. My disappointment is compounded by Anet’s decision to go this way with their game, I realize they want to be a popular mmo….but pandering to the crowd that has been trained to only see progression as increasing stats just really makes me sad for the future of the genre as a whole. Unimaginative players that are comfortable with unimaginative design, are going to keep mmorpg game development status quo for a very long time.

I really think arenanet wanted to be the game to change the genre. Nope.

I look to Everquest Next to do that.

And you will be disappointed by that one too, look at this link, locusts have already started whining, they want VP and they will get it.

Gw2 had a great potential, but the problem lies on both sides, devs lied but I suppose they did it (also) because the whole game has been invaded by a crowd of brainwashed human-shaped bots.

I might be OK with VP in EQN. Im expecting it. I was not expecting it in GW2…as per their pre launch hype.

Got a date on that quote? lol

Interview with Eric Flannum on Kill Ten Rats is here

http://www.killtenrats.com/2011/11/29/gw2-interview-with-arenanets-eric-flannum/

I suggest you all read it.

The company is built around the idea of iteration. They change stuff up when they see things aren’t working. They kill entire ideas. Devs are told not to be too attached to their ideas because they might well change. Anet has been up front about iteration long before launch. They try things they see if they work, they change them. Even major stuff like having energy in the game.

So how does this interview and everything they said about iteration stack up against a single or even a couple of old quotes.

MMOs have changed. They’ve moved the goal post. It was always a possibility because they iterate. They saw something wasn’t working and they changed it.

If they hadn’t changed it when they saw it wasn’t working, they’d have been lying about iteration.

So.. by this logic.

If a developer, pre-launch, says “We will launch without a subscription. We believe games should not have a sub, and you should pay for what you want…”

And then a year or two later, they announce “We will begin a subscription plan. 15 dollars a month to login. This is to ensure the future of our game”

So by your logic, the above scenario is ok?

Mike might have a future in politics as they all flip-flop depending on the direction of the wind. By November of last year he had reversed himself on VP and dismissed GW1 as “stagnant” without VP. Unfortunately, most gamers want to be able to depend on statements of direction from game developers. It’s really the only way we know whether we want to stick with a franchise.

“How is introducing VP respecting the player? Because it’s fun to be challenged and rewarded. Because it’s fun to have the character you play grow and evolve over time. Because ArenaNet (sort of) held a hard line against all VP with GW1 — no VP ever, year after year — and it wasn’t that fun. It was stagnant.” Mike O’Brien in the AMA

Nearly every GW1 player thinks GW1 was great.

I guess Mr O Brien never played GW1.

Remembering who is in charge of the EverQuest IP, I’m really not thinking that will happen. But then, they did make the grindfest which was the original game. (“There are no such thing as Heck Levels. It’s just a misperception.”) So if you want to hang your hopes on that?

I really hope it doesn’t disappoint.

Yes, but SOE and EQN is not going around saying “we dont make grindy games” , “play how you want”.

With each game/mmo I play or am interested in I have different expectations based on what the devs tout during their ‘hype’ period.

I wish I could understand what happened at ANet. It feels like a different team today than the one who made GW1 and the Manifesto.

I agree. And at one point they said they wanted to hold monthly AMA on reddit. When they did this shortly after the intro of ascended gear, I had high praise for them aside from the fact that they began this downward spiral.

About 9 months later, we havent had a single AMA.
So yeah, I wonder what is going on with arenanet… If the people running the show actually believe what they say to the press.

I think Colin J. has a handle on whats what, but I really hope HE doesn’t believe this crap is actually good for the game, or at all pushes the genre forward. He is the one I respect the most at arenanet, also because he is the face of arenanet. If he came in here and told us whats what, which ended up being “yeah, we are moving toward this type of grind…” i’d politely bow out of the game forever and not surface on these forums again.

Until then, I want someone to try to convince me that this is at all what the game was supposed to be. This isn’t guild wars 2.

Definitely the latter.
If it was introduced for Fractals only, it should only have the infusion slot, not buffed stats.

Ive been saying that since day one.

But Arenanets other reason they gave us was “to bridge the time gap between exotic and legendary”.

In these threads, a lot of people talk about Ascended gear being created for fractals. Is this even true, or was that just an excuse to start introducing the gear treadmill? I’m thinking it’s the latter.

The whole idea and their explanation of it is contradictory onto itself.

Reason 1: Bridge the time gap between exotic and legendary. … Not everyone is going for a legendary. Id imagine many arent. For many, there is no time gap. Many wanted to get their exotics and move onto other fun parts of the game. Now, that is being turned upside down.

-OR-

Reason 2: Ascended gear is needed for fractals due to AR slots. If you don’t run fractals, then you don’t need the AR slots hence you do not need the gear. So…why is ascended gear being introduced into every other avenue of the game if its sole use and purpose is for fractals and agony resist? If you don’t need agony resist to take down shadow behemoth, complete COF P1, or particpate in WvW, why does it exist in these parts of the game? If AR is unique to fractals only, why is it even allowed in open world? Makes no sense.

These are two reasons given by Anet. Both end up contradicting themselves. As a result, we have the “better than exotic” tier being slowly released to us. First, it was a mammoth grind to acquire the laurels, ectos, and pristine relics to get the already existing ascended pieces. Now they will time gate it, and require an irritating amount of resources to create, forcing you into avenues of the game that you might not normally traverse which again, contradicts a lot of the core of the game of ‘play how you want to play’. This all becomes a grind because a lot of it probably is not “fun” to many, and you need to do this repetitive crap over and over until your eyes bleed. Thus, we have grind.

Maybe you should explain how time-gating a new tier of weapons and gear would make them “so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it.”

Have you looked at the requirements? Its a lot…

And now that tequatl has had a much needed revamp, finishing an event such as Teq will be very difficult. Even to muster 80 people, which is what is the average number of people needed. So to get ascended weapons and mats from events such as this will be a bit time consuming.

I have no doubt that it’s going to take a while to craft an Ascended weapon. Even if difficult events was your only source of tier 7 materials, which I doubt, you would still be able to get an Ascended weapon more easily than a legendary. So basically it doesn’t explain how Ascended items are so rare and unrealistic to obtain. It may take some people longer than others no doubt.

However, a lot of people play only an hour or two a night.maybe 3. These people will have a difficult time accumulating the necessary requirements for ascended gear.

Personally, one thing I have recently noticed — Arenanet likes to be infront of the camera, tell everyone how flippin’ awsome things are going in game and make “grey” statements that can be percieved in many different ways. They see which way the wind is blowing with regard to our responses of their statements and they then shift their model. With every interview, press release and gaming con I see them saying “Yeah, we dont have any grind!” , “Yeah Living Story makes the world feel alive. Our players have a permanent change in the world as a result!” Largely laughable.

They really like to talk it up in front of the press. And I find it sad that they might truely believe this stuff too.

With all of the false promises and grey lines that they have walked with regard to a lot of what they have released into the game, I am finding it hard to support them in any way. Even with regard to parts of the game I enjoyed.

Read the below quote from Mike O’Brien, President of Arenanet.

Two things to understand before reading:
-Ascended gear is mower powerful than exotic. To debate otherwise is silly.
-You do not need ascended gear for most content — This is not the point!

“Here’s what we believe: If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game. Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games — we leave the grind to other MMOs.”

-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet

Discuss and tell me how time-gating a new tier of weapons and gear that has better stats obeys what Mike O’Brien said in his quote.

Guild Wars 2 and the Gear Escalator

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: cesmode.4257

cesmode.4257

This started in another thread, where someone said to me that Guild Wars 2 has a gear treadmill, specifically stating that they’d never seen a definition of gear treadmill that said gear progression has to be ongoing.

Obviously, to me, the whole concept of a treadmill is moving and moving and moving and getting nowhere. There’s always another tier of gear.

Now Guild Wars 2, at least with legendary weapons, means that if you get one, it’s always going to be on par with the highest stats in the game. That is to say, I have a legendary rifle. So when the ascended gear comes out, my rifle will move up to that level. It’s a cap on gear.

And if there is a cap on gear, can you call what’s going on here a treadmill? I don’t think so.

What we have here is a gear escalator. Yes, there is vertical progression…to a point. But after you get to that point, it stops. You get off. And once you’re there, you don’t have to worry about gearing up.

In fact, legendary weapons allow you to change stats out of combat, so that a legendary weapon is in fact all weapons of that type. You only need one.

So the real question is, if legendary armor gets released…is it going to be the same. Guaranteed best stats and the ability to change to different stat sets?

Because if it is, that’s gonna be amazing.

First, this is all well and good if you have a legendary. Your weapon gets an automatic boost. If you don’t have a legendary, then your exotic or whatever you have won’t get a boost, therefor you need to farm for that ascended so you have BiS stats..relatively speaking. So your logic only applies if you have a legendary. Not many people do.

Second, if they release legendary armor..this is a treadmill. Game launched with exotic as max set. Now we are getting ascended. If legendary armor comes out, its another tier.

Whether or not the stats scale up automatically, still..its another set. Its a treadmill.

He’s awesome now. Can’t wait to try it out.

But Anet, please also make it so that he’s definitely worth the time and effort to take down. Make him more rewarding than the other dragon bosses for a start.

Ideally, make him drop tokens which you can then exchange for his unique drops (like how dungeons work) instead of a RNG fest where it drops at a 0.001% chance.

Otherwise there will be a flux of people chasing after it because its new content, then it’ll just go back to being even more dead than it was before this update as he now takes longer to kill.

Dont give arenanet the idea for new currency.

All I see is + 100.000.000.000 added to him and a few dungeon mechanics in the process. I already told myself ‘nope, this is not for me, i hate spamming dps, and have the feeling it won’t finish for the first hours’. Then they show ‘finish it or you don’t get 100 achievements’. Lame, very lame. Anet.

Did you watch the live stream? There is now more to the fight than just “spamming dps” and it’s entirely possible we will fail it. A lot.

Which is exactly the kind of thing the game needs. I’m looking forward to it.

While this is true and many, including myself if I were still playing, would welcome it… but with the increase in necessity of a ectos and resources for ascended gear.. they propped up one portion of the game and made another even more of a grind.

well
If we are not getting “stronger gears” in the future , I am fine with the ascended gear thing.

Once they raise the level cap. We will. It wont come in a box xpac. I dont think that will happen, but they have said they will not shy away from raising the level cap.

What do you think will happen once we have had ascended weapons and armor for a few months… the reveal of an expansion style dlc type of deal. With a new level cap, obsoleting your gear.

I wont be around to see it, but think of me when you realize they pulled the wool over all of your eyes.

So. Grinding one ascended accessory for a month vs ..lets say half a raid tier… theres no similarity there?

T11 in WoW had probably the same stat differential compared to T10 that ascended has on exotic.

Your definitions are all over the place, really. Many guys would refer to 50k karma as a “karma grind”, “daily grind” and such. It’s no itemspiral, because that would mean that it is an on-going process wtr adding one new type of gear after another, which isn’t the case at all.

It is.
First Jewels.
Thank Legendarys AND Weapons
Than Gear.
If you ignore the boost of hp you get after an specific WvW Level..

But you see, ascended wasn’t there on release. And now it comes. Every few months new things = itemspiral.

You don’t get my point. It doesn’t matter if there are first jewels, then x then y as long as it is the same type of gear.

We have 1 new gear type which is still not on all slots, so it has nothing to do with a treadmill unless anet introduces a completely new type of gear in a few months

Hey bro: If you have ever played another MMO, like WoW… a new raid tier is out every few months. It takes a raider one or two months to acquire a full tier set.

Notice something similar? Takes the average GW2 player one or two months to acquire the latest and greatest ascended gear.

It might not be a new tier every few months, but its a new slot. And the time to acquire is the same as acquiring a new WoW raiding tier.

Same kitten, its masked differently. They didnt fool me with this one. Yet noone seems to pick up on this obvious fact.

Arenanet is sitting behind their desks, feet up, martini..saying "Guys, great job on ascended gear. Lets hear it for the team. Good job everyone. "

Same thing happened when they reviewed our reactions to living story "Guys, this is fantastic. They love it. The story is really beginning to unfold and our players have a lasting impact on the world. They are truly making a difference now. "

@Raine: I am OK with verticle progression. In other games. Not GW2. I bought GW2 and was hyped because finally a game without VP. But now since its hear, in whatever form people call it, however much its downplayed as VP, it is still a form of it…it has poisoned the game. My game that I was so hyped for.

So, its back to the drawing board for me. Like I said, Im OK with VP as long as the developer says that this type of gear progression will be in the game and not walk the fine line as Arenanet did, with nearly everything in their manifesto, blogs, interviews, etc.

Edit: Id like to also point out… Yes, we were aware all of this was coming. We were aware that ascended armor and weapons were coming ever since November-December. Its no surprise and I am not kitten because of that. It is the manner in which this game is handling rewards, gear, skins and gear progression that has me turned off.

Yeah we can get these drops anywhere just like precursors guys

I misread. Apologies.

Still, probably a similar percentage as pre cursors. I can bet a paycheck that they will not make ascended chests drop as often as rares or even exotics. That would nearly make the crafting bit of all of this obsolete, since you can get a fair amount of rares or even exotics in a day of farming.

serious question.

What content are you unable to accomplish without this as yet unavailable weapon?

I keep hearing all this whining about gating you off from max level gear but what exactly are you going to be able to do with it that you arnt able to do now? Kill Lupi in 12 seconds instead of 15? Its just another thing for casuals to get in a huff about

Nothing. Thats not the point. I want BiS gear. I currently have it. I enjoy the game. I don’t want to spend more time, energy, and resources getting the next tier piece. Because I already have it.

Im dreading tuesday and whatever announcement arenanet has in store at PAX. Their history with these things have been abysmal as of late. Since I am dreading it, Im no longer playing their game.

The only saving grace for me is to see how they might tackle raiding, if it is in their list of reveals at PAX or on Tuesday. And if it is on the schedule, that saving grace is dependent on how they execute raids. If it is anything similar to guild missions I’ll laugh. If it’s reward system is some time gated crap or anything with ascended, I’ll still laugh and stay logged out.

I am simply a player that likes to have BiS gear, and then enjoy the game…not having to worry about anything else other than my enjoyment. Thats how I wanted to approach this game. The time gated nature of this means that if I don’t take care of what I need to each day, Im behind the curve. I’ll feel obligated to log in each day to get my daily-crafted-junk done…like I initially felt with Laurels and dailys. I already feel obligated to get all LS achievements done for AP just to get to the next threshold for gold, account bonuses, and skins. I like being rewarded for the AP, but it also has a negative side too.

Im feeling a bit too obligated to do things in a game where it was touted that we could play how we want. For this reason, the game is beginning to cease to be fun for me, and more of a “hurry get it done before its gone” or a “hurry, get the BiS gear before the next guy does”. Just..not fun for me anymore, which sucks because I did like this game.

Edit: While Arenanet claims to be working on a scavenger hunt for legendaries..some long series of things that we would need to do to get a precursor, they clearly haven’t learned from their mistakes. Making the player accumulate tons of materials, items, currencies to make something does not make a fun experience. Its more of the journey, the memories you make along the way. Grinding your way to X amount of T7 materials and/or whatever else needed hardly provides for that experience. Clearly, they just haven’t learned their lesson. Why should I continue to financially support a company that doesn’t learn from its monumental mistakes?

Such a horrible move for the game. So disgusted right now. Done.

This gives me a good opportunity to continue playing some other games.

Why? Everything in this game is either given to you or you are hand held all the way there.

IMO the only way to get ascended weps should be fotm 48.

If it were skins I’d agree, but it’s a new tier of gear and everyone doesn’t like fractals.

So? Why are players so entitled?

Honestly, Id be completely OK with it being only obtainable in highest level fractals(48+). This would mean that it is nearly exclusive to fractals so that only high level fractal runners get it…i.e. the people that are only concerned with vertical progression. That way, the rest of us lemmings wont need to worry about being so outgeared(omg, yes it will and does make a difference) in WvW, or feel underpowered in dungeons.

5-10% compounded on many gear slots DOES make a difference. Id be completely ok with a small % of the community, the high fractal runners, being the only ones that get it. The rest of the 90% will be without, and we’d be content.

8/10 decent troll little weak on the ending

Who is trolling?

I honestly think this is the last straw for me, at least for a while.
Want rings? Run fractals, or trade in laurels.
Want accessories? Trade in commendations or laurels + 50 ectos(equivalent of at least 10 gold in ecto)
Want weapons? Must have a weapon crafter to 500, enough time gated materials, and ectos. Or go run fractals.

So the non fractal runner, the non crafter, the pure WvW’er, the pure dungeon runner,…miss out on quite a lot of opportunity and mats.

Ive really had it with this game.

The purpose of ascended gear

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

cesmode.4257

We’ve received two reasons from arenanet for ascended gear:

-bridge the time gap between exotic and legendary.
^^This is hilarious. If you are someone that simply wanted BiS gear, and had no desire for a legendary..then with exotic you had BiS gear. You werent going after the legendary. I also find this logic double-edged…to bridge the time gap. Well, we’ll be spending ectos and time garnering the requirements for ascended weapons and accessories…ectos that could have been used toward your legendary. IMO, this slows down the path to legendary. Silly. Its meant to bridge the gap. But it really just made the gap wider.

-Ascended gear is meant for fractals. You need Agony Resist to withstand the lazy mechanic the devs throw at us in fractals. Dont need ascended anywhere else in game. Funny, because fractals are quite abandoned right now. Same maps since November. I rarely see anyone looking for a fractal group anymore. Everyone is off doing invasions or some other dumb LS achievement.
