Where is the scavenger hunt?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Like a hundred posts before this one, curious if there has been any update on the scav hunt? It was originally set to be before 2013 ended, then early 2013..here we are into the summer months staring at august. Anything? Was this shelved in order to free up devs for continuing the living story or something?

This is one of those things that the community actually ASKED FOR early in the game’s lifecycle, unlike living story and mega servers which were forced on everyone.

How to find back the magic of GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I dont know…

GW2 is a good game and it launched with tons of potential. I enjoyed it for a long time and wanted to make it my mainstay game. But after almost 2 years of seeing where Arenanet has and wants to take their game, I find it difficult to justify playing anymore.

GW2 is my sort of game where I can log and do what I want and log out. Theres no endgame, theres no rush for it, theres no rush to be the baddest or the best geared, or whatever.

However, where GW2 has faltered for me has been its emphasis on living story. In my humble opinion this was the wrong way to go, I never asked for 2 week updates nor did many. I feel that even with the new “catch up” system they put in, if I decided to get back into it 2 or 3 months down the line, or more, , I might be staring at a mountain of things to catch up on. It is discouraging.

I want to log and play in zones I want to play in, not where the LS leads me. But even with megaserver, chances are those zones are still empty! I mean, who wants to complete run of the mill random DE chains in Timberline falls? No one. In the open world, other than the LS zone of the week, the world is still empty and lonesome and to see THAT potential wasted, the potential of players of all levels just completing content they’ve never seen before in random zones, is probably the most discouraging thing about it all.

The more things change (Living Story) the more they stay the same (abandoned open world).

GW2 is my sort of game, but the devs have sort of tainted it with Living Story. Its the one thing I wish would go away

Maybe then Id enjoy the game again. The way it was meant to be enjoyed.

"LSS2" or "The Strain"?

Guess, I’ll try WildStar. Heard it has some quality stuff, and most importantly, that it is more difficult/demanding than GW2, which let’s face it, is rather easy. Ordered it already!^^

I would say that you notice things getting difficult around level 17-18, punishing around 30, unforgiving around 40.

If you stand two ticks inside a telegraph, thats half your hp. Dont mess up. There are actual consequences for playing WELL, such as avoiding taking half your health in a matter of 2 seconds and Moments of Opportunity(interrupting casting for double damage)

Personally after reaching 50 on my medic, I realized how monotonous the game had become and the bugs/class imbalances really wore me down. I would like to think that my hours will be spent here when lss2 hits.

Because the game is 3 weeks old.

Questing is like any other Non-GW2 MMO…

Class imbalance…people always complain about this. Its in every game. Even this one. Take your pick..pve, pvp…one would say the warrior is OP in PVE with hundred blades, where the thief is OP in PVP with instakill backstabs, etc etc blah blah. Its just noise at this point whatever game youre playing because one person thinks one thing and another thinks something else.

I really laugh at the “questing is monotonous” comment. Granted, GW2 has the best leveling experience Ive seen in a game. But If you dont like GW2’s questing structure, then Wildstar(or any other) is the next best thing. There aren’t many varients aside from MAYBE SWTOR with the personal stories and such.

Game Updates: World Boss Synchronization

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

cesmode.4257

The old system was great because no matter how dead the hour, no matter how long it’s been since a content patch, there were always people who cared enough to do pre-events to get API event trackers moving. And there were always people to respond to them, even if it took guesting.

Maybe that was true on your server, but on mine (Maguuma), pretty much no one killed most of the bigger world bosses after the initial reset zerg had run its course, and even the minor ones were a crapshoot.

Thats what happens when you encourage and foster zerg-like mentality content where bosses are boring without mechanics, and the rewards are horrible.

A question about GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

cesmode.4257

@Draknar

I typically run AC (1, 2, 3), CoF (1, 2), and CoE (1, 2, 3) and come out with at least 15g. That includes the end rewards and the money from selling the loot. Ideally this circuit should take maybe 1.5 hours. If you get a real dungeon running group, you can do that in less than an hour and move on to SE, HotW, TA, and even Arah to end up with twice as much money in less than 3 hours.

And I daresay dungeons aren’t the only way to make money. Guild missions, world bosses, WvW, and even PvP are much more rewarding now than they were in the past.

I question the length of time it takes you…
COF 1 and 2 alone might run 35 minutes combined…
AC 1,2,3 an hour combined if youre fantastically good.
COE 1,2,3 about 1.5 hours.

Unless you have some god group that knows all the tricks and ins and outs, which do not apply to most pugs…you cant run all of those paths in 1.5 hours or less. More like 3 or 4.

Before, all content was accessible. No gold or credit card required. Now, either gold or credit card is required.

This is a misleading statement. Before, content was accessible if you logged in during the release period. And it still will be. No gold or credit card required.

If you didn’t log in during the release period, not only could you not access it with gold or credit card, you could not access it, at all.

Can’t just make stuff up willy-nilly now.

You and everyone else is missing my entire point.

I get it that before if I didnt log in I missed it, and now the same thing if i dont log in., but I can pay 200 gems for it. I get it. I get they they are trying to encourage you to log into the game frequently. But does me logging into the game for 2 minutes to flag my account that I logged in do ANYTHING to improve the health of the game? If I logged into the game for literally 30 seconds and logged out, that has done nothing for the game, and I had no intent of playing the game AT THAT TIME. All this behavior has done now is add another tick to their player concurrency stats that said I was one more person that logged into the game….

My whole point is the DIRECTION, the decision they made. I simply disagree with the decision they made to place a money gate/gold gate/currency gate on content just because I was on a break from the game.

Its the decision that I completely disagree with. Just open it up to everyone at any time and avoid this entire discussion. Make even more people happy. Why close it off an kitten off a % of us?

Thats my entire point that people are missing here…its that they sat around a conference table and said “we’ll make them pay for it if they didnt log in during the time”.

All of the arguments against this change are just straight up ridiculous!

So you want to leave for 3 months and come back and be able to play? GUESS WHAT? You still can! You just can’t play the stuff that, before, you weren’t even able to buy back!

So this is a free game huh? Guess they should make everything FREE! How are they supposed to host a free game with that many workers? They already have stuff on the gem store that costs about 800 gems a piece but you all never complained about that. It should be free right? This is exactly the same principle!

It’s not impossible to log in every 2 weeks for a few seconds. Please don’t write something silly like you’re a soldier and you leave for long periods of time as I’ve seen copied on the forums a few times already. If you don’t spend that much time on the game you shouldn’t really be bothered about content you missed out on. You would have missed much more last season without the chance to re experience it through the gem store.

1. Don’t presume to judge how I spend my time. I currently do not play the game but may come back at some point. Logging in to “flag my account that I logged in” so that I get access to some content is silly.

2. Its the decision they made that is irking me. Before, all content was accessible. No gold or credit card required. Now, either gold or credit card is required.

3. For a new person that comes to the game in a year or so, they are royally screwed.

4. The company should make its money in its cash shop, but for cosmetic, vanity, aesthtic things. Not gates to content.

If you want to see the content, its not a choice. You either must remember to log in, if you are even able to log in, or you must pay the gems. The content is behind a gate, any way you slice it.

Yes the content is behind a gate but the gate is not there for the reasons you expect. I honestly don’t think that ArenaNet is doing this for extra income. That is a side effect bonus. I think the reason why there is a gate is to get people to continually login and play. People Logged into Guild Wars 1 only during the festivals. People logged in only during new Living World releases. If everything was permanent for free with no charges. A lot of those people would not login.

The fact that it is only available for free for a limited amount of time means that ArenaNet is “paying” us for doing the one thing they need most for the MMO to servive. Log In and play. Something that businesses that rely on the crowd sourced model learned long ago pepole are sometimes more valuable then cash.

Did not login during the period of time that it was free. Well you can pay with real life money or convert gold to gems and pay to unlock it. I understand the concept. I think this is the best solution available for both parties.

However I will say this. In order for this not to deter new players after the season is over the seasons episodes needs to be sold at a reduced price in a package. ArenaNet could even market it as a “new and returning player expansion pack”. Perhaps sweeten up the deal a bit by adding some of the exclusive Gem Store content that was only released during that Living World season into the pack.

If its not for money, why not just make it all free all the time? Why risk potentially upsetting a % of the playerbase with this move? I am not the only person in the guild wars community that feels this way. Why risk it? Whats for them to lose by making it all free all the time? Doing this makes them look shady IMO.

Invalid analogy.

A correct pant-wiping analogy would be this:

I can choose to wipe myself.
I can choose to pay someone else to wipe me.
I can choose to trade some monopoly money in exchange for someone else wiping me.

Honestly, of all the unfounded complaints I’ve seen in my many years using the internet, yours stands tall as a particularly unfounded one.

They are giving you TWO methods of getting the content COMPLETELY 100% FREE and one method of paying for it and you accuse them of being greedy? Seriously?

At least I win at something.

And yes, Im upset because…for a… free to play game…, If I leave for 3 months and come back, Id like to be able to play the content? Previously it was unavailable and that sucked. Now, if im gone for 3 months, the decision has been made that I either have the gold to spend on gems or I fork over real $$…they made this decision, it wasnt an oversight, or some technical thing. They made the decision to monetize my absence(using myself as an example). I find this to be shady.

I dont want to spend 20-30 gold one piece of content. If I miss 3 months, thats roughly 6 living story ‘episodes’, and roughly 120-150 gold. I dont have that kind of gold. Should I be forced to dungeon farm for gold to pay to see the content then?

If your game is free to play, make all content FREE.

People can no longer sit around these forums and say hogwash like “you can leave and come back and not worry about a thang”. Because you need to pay for missed content!

One more thing to add…

To those of you that might say “you can either CHOOSE to log in or not, or CHOOSE to pay the gems…its up to you…”

I can also CHOOSE to wipe my rear-end after going to the bathroom, or CHOOSE not to. But the ladder will result in stinky pants. I NEED to wipe.

Sick comparison, but it gets the message across. If you want to see the content, its not a choice. You either must remember to log in, if you are even able to log in, or you must pay the gems. The content is behind a gate, any way you slice it.

This is greed. Log in, or pay. Vs a sub based game where you pay 50 cents a day for a month(15 dollars a month) and get all content ever released. I can log into WoW right now and go do Baradin Hold dallies from 2 years ago.

Not turning this into sub vs free game argument. But I do think its crap that arenanet made the conscious decision to place this content behind gems(even if its 200), instead of making it free like they said it always would be.

I haven’t logged in to play for weeks, I dont plan on it for another few months. When I return, if I ever return(cuz Wildstar is awsome), I’ll be so far behind that I’ll need to dish out the $$. Or, I have to remember every other week to log in. Like a freakin’ chore.

well you used to miss out before and never have any chance to it again.

Also it is so hard to log in (or get someone to log in for you) once every 2 weeks? you dont have to play the content.

Quite frankly, yes it is especially for someone that isn’t actively playing or focusing on the game currently. I haven’t thought about GW2 in a few weeks at least. I saw an ad for it on a gaming site and figured Id log into the GW2 site to check it out and see whats up. Had I done this in the LS, Id miss out on content.

they’re basically giving the option log in when it’s out or pay for it… .

But thats my point. When LS was released, the fact that we would miss LS content if we werent around for it could be chaulked up to an oversight. Something they forgot to think about.

Now, it is a decision they made..a design decision. “Hmmm, make them pay for it if they dont log in”.

Meanwhile, and im not necessarily saying sub based games are better because I very much support/supported the gem store in GW2, but in sub games you pay the sub and have access to EVERYTHING, even things in prior years..regardless if you logged in for it or not.

Hi,
So if I read Colin’s writeup about the story journal correctly…

We have to log in during the 2 week time frame that the LS episode takes place in order to have access to it perma. If we don’t we have to spend 200 gems to gain access to this content.

So…I mean I hate to bring it up again, but is Arenanet moving even further away from their notion of “you can take a break from the game a come back” ? If I take a break, I miss out on all of this stuff unless I spend real money on it.

Contrasting to a sub-based game for comparison only, I have access to all content patches, zones, dallies, quest hubs, raids, dungeons, etc…

Is it a technical reason that they went this route? Or greed? I currently am not playing the game because im having a blast in Wildstar, but if I ever wanted to come back and catch up on the living story, I am SoL unless I dish out real $$. Seems pretty lame to me

Shatterer and all of the world bosses being push overs, including most of the dungeon bosses, is arenanet rushing the game and poor design. If they actually cared about quality mechanics, they wouldn’t make these bosses meatsacks with no mechanics.

The difference between a sub MMO and cash-shop MMO is not about which one has more contents. In a sub MMO, the focus is the design of attractive contents that satisfies the player’s demands (hardcore or casual) to keep those subscribers happy. In a cash-shop MMO is goal is to design contents around the cash-shop items and sell more gems. Both models work can work great IMO, but don’t have the same expectations from a cash-shop MMO compared to a sub.

In my experience sub based MMOs expend no more effort to keep their subscribers happy than cash shop MMOs. They do however seem to spend a lot of effort on ways to slow those players down so that they will keep paying (not a typo, I meant paying not playing) longer.

I am not saying that cash shop is better, just that I have yet to see a sub based game that matched your description of that model.

I dont understand what youre saying. You say that sub based games spend effort to slow players down so they keep paying? Makes no sense.

Take the typical WoW argument. If I logged into WoW right now, I can see every bit of content from every patch 0-90 or whatever the level cap is now. I can see every single zone, and see every zone phased once I complete a zone story arc. I can participate in every dungeon that has been released, every raid that has been released. I can see every bit of every expansion if I wanted to. Its all there.

With GW2, Lets say I took the month of April off. One month. I miss out on SAB. Its not coming back until next year. Or, If I haven’t logged on in 6 months, i missed out on the Scarlet LS completion. Its done. I wont get to experience it, ever.

You and everyone else say this like it is unique to GW2. If I am playing WoW one month, and quit the next month, I can always come back to WoW and my account is there.

Difference is, I’m not required to pay a monthly fee to keep playing, or restart playing.

Yeah, I hate those “got to pay to log in” models. So glad GW2 didn’t go that route.

Because youve gotten so much with no sub..oh wait. Yea a lot of it was temporary content, wasnt it? kitten it!

BTW, Im not against free to play games. I think GW2 did free to play well. I just dont agree with their dev direction.

Unless you have logged in during every LS patch and story arc for the last 1.5+ years, you missed out on a lot. Whereas in a sub game, you can see everything from every dungeon, to every raid, and zone and dallies, etc.

-The lack of chalange:Let’s see the current event the Gauntlet’s last boss Liadri the Concealing Dark:I think she made plenty of Neurons got destroyed from every player who tried her and many angry Alt+F4 or broken keyboards.
But she is actually not hard at all or hardcore gamecontent as many fans say.If you know the right pattern it’s pretty easy even with gambits. To be honest I spent over 200 ticket on her but I done her.
What I wish to point out the game can be hard for first, anything but if you get the knowledge you can manage to defeat any enemy without a single hit and I am not joking and I think many can approve this.

I’m sorry to derail this a bit by nitpicking this one point, but this is a personal pet peeve of mine.

You spent two hundred tokens practicing Liadri and YOU CLAIM SHE WAS EASY?

Kitten. Man. Get some perspective. There are people who log fewer hours to learn how not to crash a helicopter. Of course everything gets easier with practice; that doesn’t mean it was always easy from the start.

I personally think the whole gauntlet was and remains a breath of fresh air. It’s exactly the kind of content we should be getting – and getting rewarded for finishing. What do we get, though, for Liadri? A mini and.. jack else. Heck, I wouldn’t be complaining about ascended if it was earned through a series of Liadri-style challenges instead of dull-kitten boring grind.

Right on with this. Liadri and the entire gauntlet really, was the type of difficulty and challenge that the game sorely needs. And I agree, if ascended were obtained through this, gaurunteed ascended some how, it would ease my mind on that whole topic.

But Arenanet cannot design the game based around these skill fights. Colin himself said the game is meant to be played in the open world with lots of players, grouped or otherwise. This means, you have to have encounters in the open world that are easy enough for random passerbys to complete together. Put aside the Tequatls of the world, and you need to water down your world so that anyone and everyone at anytime can complete the dynamic events. If they placed Liadri in the open world, while that may be awsome to some(and I agree it would), it would be a scaled down version of Teqautl with people failing left and right. People don’t want to fail all the time. They want to succeed.

“But its not a game breaking experiencing killing issue.” That completely depends on your game-play.
In most MMO’s the way I played was usually driven by chasing down rewards or items in the game. Being it while crafting and hunting down recipes or items I needed, or hunting down mini’s or mounts and so on.

That has simply been removed from GW2 and turned into a gold-grind to benefit the cash-shop.

So yes it can very well be a “game breaking experiencing killing issue.”

“Things like dev direction, mechanics, etc…those are gameplay breaking.” Yeah and those get influenced by the way a game gets monetized. Is the question “how do we get people to buy gems” then you implement other mechanics and take another direction then if the question is “how do we get people to buy out next expansion”. Living world being a perfect example of a direction that seems to be related to the cash-shop focus.

Would they focus on releasing a new expansion every year then you would likely already have seen new maps with new DE and new dungeons and have a better overall game because a game-play element as hunting down items in the game would be there. In addition you might be able to visit a barber to cut your hair instead of grinding gold to change the hair. (I don’t count buying gems as game-play).

After there released they suddenly went completely cash-shop. That became apparent about half a year in. There where some negatives at launch already (like all mini’s being in the cash-shop) but most where not extremely bad or where not noticeable (I for example did expect there where also mini’s in the game itself) but then after about half a year things really started to take a turn for the worse.

So most of the thinks you talk about may very well be linked to that cash-shop focus.

I am not waiting for GW3. That was in reaction to another person talking about GW3.
And no GW3 would sell way less. That was my point.

If what you say is true then the game teeters on pay to win and I dont think anyone would agree with that assessment.

The fact that they push ads in your face to purchase from the gemstore has no bearing on whether or not you’ll enjoy killing a baddy in a dungeon or wasting your time in LS. The fact that theres a new dress to buy in the gem store has no impact on your fun in WvW.

Now, if youre talking baout the gem to gold conversion, thats slightly different but still very much debatable. When I played, I acquired tons of materials from efficient farming routes and spots. I just played the game, very boring because of the grindy nature, but I was able to accumlate a ton of materials without dropping a dime into gem to gold conversion to purchase off of the TP. I stopped playing seriously about 5 months ago, for half year prior to that I played on and off, amassing maybe 1100 hours. So in 2 years, 1100 hours is pretty average for someone that bought the game at launch. I didnt play 24/7. Its not hard to accumulate what you need, aside from precursors.

Very cool. I especially liked the ones where the server is named after a real person. Sanctum of Rall is probably the best write up, for obvious reasons.

Lineage was too grindy for me. Im hoping Wildstar keeps my interests for a few years, or if all else fails, everquest next…thats probably the last dip into an MMO Id make unless we get a WoW 2 or something at that point.

Farewell GW2

@cesmode Totally agree both with you and the OP. I loved the idea of GW2 at the beginning, but with time, the direction taken by the devs proved to be demolishing for the game.
I do hope, though, that GW3 is better thought out in advance.

Only thing they can do is improve GW2. I say it for over a year now and keep repeating it. There main problem is the cash-shop focus. 2 other big problems is the quick and dirty solutions (development term), most in your face examples are instanced maps and invisible walls but many of the bugs are likely also coming from that as well. Lastly wanting to be different just for the sake of being different and being stubborn about it.

GW3 would likely sell really good so improve those core problems and then we might end up with a better product. Don’t and we might end up with a failed product.

I dont think the “in your face” cash shop marketing and ads are essentially a problem. Its annoying, and its definately noticeably being pushed at you when you load up the launcher. But its not a game breaking experiencing killing issue.

Things like dev direction, mechanics, etc…those are gameplay breaking. Sigh. The game launched and was so fantastic. I was in heaven. Finally a game made for someone like me. Then they turned their focus to the new tier of gear, and then living story. All attention from open world DEs that the game launched with, and dungeons and all..all of that attention shifted to ascended and LS. Everything that I truely enjoyed was and still is neglected. 2 years later, parts of the core that the game launched with are neglected because arenanet has a vision, because they know better than we do. They say they listen, but really they just hear noise from us and ignore everything we are telling them.

And don’t hold your breathe on GW3 We are only 2 years into GW2. If they had any aspirations for GW3, I think they could start thinking of concepts in the next 2 years, but dev will take 5…so at earliest, 2019 or 2020. By that time, Im done with MMOs(or I better be).

Besides, after all the people they burned with GW2, all of the core Guild Wars fans, do they really want to take a stab at another Guild Wars game?

Farewell GW2

Honestly, this is very well written. Its more of a feedback thread than a farewell which is why I think arenanet left it open.

I agree with everything.

In a shorter summation:

-Living Story: With the main development and focus on LS, I see that I cannot follow this game further than leveling 5 characters to 80, running every dungeon, running fractals into the ground and getting a map completion, along with completing the main story. After this, I have..what to look forward to? Poor story telling in 2 week crumbs? For me, there will be no substantial content added to the game and kept there. For me, Im “done”. Ive beaten the game, so to speak.

-Meaningless Multiplayer: Totally agree here. Combined with the way LS is designed, you follow zergs and smash one or two keys. Theres no thought, no skill, no challenge, no fear of death, nothing. Its pointless. You can have a really tricked out build but its useless if you cannot utilize it fully. Oh, you say you do, but you dont need to. You can be that support guardian in the zerg of 100, but its not needed. The baddy will die in a few seconds anyways.

Ive pretty much left GW2 as well. Gave up on it long ago, tried to come back and I just cant stick with it seeing how arenanet is actually pleased with the direction of living story and all. Maybe in the future Ill pop in again, but right now I dont want to and for the forseeable future I dont want to. Wildstar headstart is Friday night/saturday morning, and this will occupy my time for the next several months at least, if not years(hopefully..just as I had hoped GW2 would have).

GW2 launched as a fun innovative fantastic MMO. GW2 had more MMO to it than WoW. It was fun.

Your game is no longer fun. In my opinion, it ceased to be fun when it was clear your dev direction is living story and ascended gear. Once living story was in full swing with zergs, the actual gameplay was no longer fun. It was literally boring. How can mashing one or two keys be fun? It isnt. And ascended gear…that whole grey area debacle has never been truely confronted, even with the AMA. Was it always intended or not? If it was always intended, how come it wasn’t announced at launch that another tier was coming…how come you didnt take steps to avoid looking like you went back on principles? I digress.

The game isn’t fun, so I am not playing it anymore.

Take my criticisms as information if you want (I hope).

I cant post anything because I cant kill anything because the zerg kills it faster than I can tag it and I cant even see the boss because 150 players and their spell effects can drown out the ocean itself.

ok, so we now have 19 pages of mostly negative feedback.

Not only is it negative, but the people most negative are the guild/server community leaders! These are the people who make GW2 a success.

Its time for Anet to do what they claim they do best: Iterate

I’d say we now have 19 pages of people overreacting and forgetting the flaws of the game from less than 2 weeks ago. Megaservers aren’t perfect, but I’d take it any day over the situation from 2 weeks ago.

Id say the opposite. Id say with Living Story temporarily done, and the content patches are feature and QoL patches, the previous few weeks were the most exciting time for me with GW2 than they have been since November 2012. And we all know what happened then…

For me…
QoL and features = good
Living Story = bad
Megaserver = good intentions, executed horribly.

So, when will we see Living story season 2 or something like it?

Like with the Ascended tier announce in November 2012, and the Ascended armor announce this year…I wonder if they are sitting around in the office , patting eachother on the back saying “Great job guys. Huge win. Keep it up. They love it. What a fantastic innovative approach to open world. Very fun gaming experience.”

Why don’t you guys just stop playing this game. Do what I did and walk away?

Because we some of us actually made friends and created communities and just don’t want to leave everything behind.
Most of the people posting here love the game and take time to give constructive feedback to Anet to try and make it better..

That said, my opinion is Megaservers are a good idea, the issue is though that they implemented it way too fast with it not working properly. I don’t want them to take it away, since obviously its not going to happen cuz of the money that has been put into it. But as someone stated uptop, cities can benefit from staying on “home servers” (WvW recruitement?) and they should get things right when it comes to get people from the same guild/party on the same map.
I would add though that the language barrier in europe is one of the most fustrating things for some players (and i wonder on Anets thoughts behind that..)

Also Anet, next time you add some option that blocks chat from other languages…plz send an in game mail to everyone explaining the situation….

Time and time again they put stuff into the game that isn’t tested. At all. There are still bugs from closed beta. Its unacceptable for a developer to strive to push the envelope still, with so many unaddressed issues in their game. They want to be the first at everything and faster than everyone, without properly thinking things through and properly testing things. We are their QA department, which is just horrible practice for a developer. If they really practiced what they preach in “when its ready”, megaservers wouldn’t have seen the light of day until end of summer at the earliest.

And this next piece is something that I personally suggested over a year ago. Public Test server. Why not put the new stuff you want tested on a PTR, so that we can test it and break it for you instead of trying it out on live first. This idea was stupidly rejected not only by the community, but apparently arenanet knows better.

I work in IT development myself as a career. Standard workflow process at my company is: Dev environment, to Staging environment, to Production. Each environment is concluded with a UAT (User Accepted Testing), to which we QA everything via scenarios…we try to break it.

I never got the impression that Arenanet has anything like this in place, because there are just too many issues with all of their releases. WoW had issues early on, back in 2008 maybe. Now, their content updates and expansions go off without a hitch. Because they have months and months of PTR before its released.

Why don’t you guys just stop playing this game. Do what I did and walk away? Its the last straw. I will not be back until megaservers are gone and they invest time and money into a real system that gets people into lower populated zones.

Megaserver probably cost a pretty penny. Arenanet is not going to revert changes, or make changes enough, to fix the major issues. And I do not think they have the time or manpower to squash most of the issues in a reasonable amount of time. You will probably be waiting months on end. Arenanet is too heavily vested in the idea that you will not see them doing any sort of rollback. Very similar to the enormous outcry when ascended items were announced in November 2012…such an outcry that they held an AMA for it. And they did nothing but push through the angry mobs and continuned to release ascended gear. Why will this time be any different?

So not a lot will change. A few tweaks that might make some folks happy. But I do not see earthshattering changes on the horizon that will yield most of you happy. At the very least, with megaservers around, you will ALWAYS be playing with people from another server. Theres zero way of getting around that.

Why waste more months of your time complaining in this thread when arenanet will bide their time, wait for the mobs to quiet down, and then announce their next game breaking “upgrade”. They are already locking threads, and this post will most likely be removed which is clear indication that while they welcome our opinion, any STRONG opinion is not welcomed…any strong opinion that makes too much sense, or that points out the facts of history will be removed.

Watched some videos on this megaserver stuff… my god what have they done. I mean, champions and open world encounters were a complete and utter joke to begin with, but now with megaservers every DE and champ should just lay down and spit out loot like a pinata. Theres zero challenge in this game now. Theres no risk of failure, no risk of dying, no fear of anything bad happening to your character.

Hey Arenanet!! THATS FUN RIGHT?!?! No fear of death in your game = fun?

Serious sad state of affairs. Currently have no hope for this game.

Am I the only one that feels like this is just a containment thread to keep the forums clean of all the complaints?

They don’t respond, they don’t care. I doubt they even read these threads.

Most likely the problems are here to stay and the usual answer applies, as always, “Deal with it!”.

Anet didn’t respond to the huge Watchwork Pick thread and then closed it a time after, and left the other watchwork pick thread hidden away in the BLTC subforums.

I doubt think we’ll see it here. I just hope all of those that hate it will continue to persist and post their complaints.

For something like that you need to dig deep into the depths of trolldom and negativity. Something I do not think many of you are qualified for.

You will call upon unlikely allies such as myself to carry out this dark task.

Normally, I would gladly take on the heavy burden of keeping this issue present and hot, but I do have a job myself

Speaking of guesting…

Guesting was put in place so that players can test the waters of another server without transferring, or play on a server with their friends from another, or to simply complete some content.

Now that its all one server, am I correct in assuming that guesting has completely gone away? Since its one server, who cares about guesting anymore? Was that wasted development time, money, effort? Seems arenanet loves to tinker with crap on live servers for a while before realizing the error of their ways.

Guesting effects (or at least should) which MegaServer you end up on. So it is still relevant.

As for “wasted development time, money and effort”, wouldn’t that basically mean that they should never ever in any way or for ever evolve or change anything in the game? Since that would mean they “wasted” all those stuff when they made the original version of the thing, right?

After reading so many of this guy’s posts, I’m convinced he is a troll. Or a hambow warrior. Or both….

To which poster are you referring?

My solution: For every time the defense is successful, the next one has two times as many mobs until the camp get’s totally over run. After one successful defense, the world boss will appear during the defend event just to make it feel climactic.

Nice idea but sick of the stupid situational requirements, ideas, restrictions, whatever…its a complete kittenhole mess that arneanet made. Why patch up a pile of kitten with a bandage?

My solution is to shovel the pile of crap into the neighbors yard, tell him you did so and apologize. Then figure out a solution that doesn’t leave crap on your yard.
