Overreacting is a thing everywhere honestly. This patch was basically a non-factor for us, bug fixes and changes that are basically ANet not admitting Chilling Darkness is badly designed and Corruptions need a rework.

A 30% nerf to UM was completely uncalled for.
A massive nerf to Vampiric signet, back to pre-june levels(which means a net loss equivalent to the trait that went baseline) is utterly uncalled for.

Corruptions only got a rework because a few of us raided the revenant forum at the right time. That’s it. That is the only reason it got touched, because of few people went over to another class forum and complained. There was never any notification here about that change.

Chilling darkness, in light of the nerfs to UM and VS, is still a slap in the face.

What exactly was the bug on vampiric signet ?

It healed for more than it originally was intended to do. The tool tip and everything is as before this patch but the green numbers you’d see on screen was higher than what the tool tip stated. So it wasn’t a freakin’ nerf. To the people who says it’s a nerf,no,it was never a nerf. It was a freakin’ fix.

Beside the rage imbuing me when I look at Rampage .

The so-called “Plague stomp” is working fine for me. You may have to check your keyboard (macro?); ping and so own and so forth.

I kittening got it thanks.

I changed my keybind to sheathe weapon to ALT a while ago because it was more practical for skill cancelling. Since my keybind for plague is alt + A, so when I pressed it the sheathe weapon keybind actually cancelled the stomp (oddly enough the animation doesn’t stop…)

You’re using the master of corruption trait? Try it without it. Maybe the trait is bugging plague stomping.

I was able to plague stomp the necro so I don’t know what to tell you xD.

No, I only took the trait for the test to lower the plague cd, otherwise I don’t use it and it still doesn’t work.

I just tested this in heart of the mists and plague stomping does work.

Well I just did too and it didn’t work. Gonna try to switch trait, see if this is a bug.

Changing forms seems to interrupt stomp. I think necros just dagger instead of stomp from what I’ve heard from PvP players. You get some life force that way too.

That’s what I do too, but sometimes you need to secure a clutch stomp before his mates arrives and rez him then kittens you up in the kitten like the little necro you are.

Meanwhile I can rampage stomp anyday with my war and I can do it long after I popped rampage. (Not saying wars are in a good state because they’re prolly worse than necro now, but still.)

When I try to stomp someone and then pop plague for the stability, the animation keeps going but my target doesn’t die at the end of the stomp.

I used to do it very often as it’s our only practical way to secure a stomp.

Is this a known bug ? Was this done on purpose so that necros can’t even stomp once every 180s ? Is there something that got changed and I’m doing wrong ?

ele’s sustain is lower than pre patch with fire water arcane… earth water arcane is higher but deals no damage and is rarely played.

One of each is used on one of the competitive teams (Abjured might have even been who ran it). Class gets stacked, and is favored in high tier teams, I don’t know what more you want for obvious proof.

they have been doing this pre patch and post patch… the burn is the culprit right now. for d/d ele not much has changed and just because arenanet ruined shoutbow and celestial engi doesn’t mean that they also have to ruin d/d ele.

guess why people run eles, because there is nothing else to run as bruiser.

Cele necros aren’t bad bruiser, they’re just not as stupidely strong as cele ele.

Also, please give mesmers and thieves perma stealth when ooc. These classes are balanced around killing everyone, so they should be able to engage on their whim when they can best achieve that goal.

They need to lower the cd on mesmer’s invul too. Right now there are still a few times between all their stealth/invul where I can actually hit them…

I don’t feel like damage is THAT high. I play celestial necro and I can usually survive for quite a bit of time. Unless I get +2’d by 2 zerkers, but then I think it’s pretty normal to get popped fast…

no, you build and play for the team…not for yourself. If you want to play whatever you like and however you like pve is dat way —-> cause you can’t be a cripple for your teamates just because you want to have your personal fun…or at least this how it should be

meta = best spec and comp at the current sotg, and this means that it’s the best you can actually do for your team and role, ofc there are many specs out there but if something is not meta it means it lacks some key aspects that “meta” spec has (Always talking about conquest enviroment ofc…not 1v1, crapyard or stuff like that) …and imo there is not pride in running out of meta crap…it’s just a lack of respect for your teamates that are playing to win while you just go there for “fun” (Considering that losing is never fun), achivements or only god knows what

Ppl playing for fun or testing crap should stick to hotjoin imo…expec if they also don’t know how to rotate, kite and so on, rom on trap ranger (Even if it’is a crap spec) is way better than many out there running meta…but he’s rom, average ranger running trap kitten would only be a total cripple and ruin other ppl’s games, if you see top players streaming weird specs and being (Kinda) effective that doesn’t mean you can do the same…because, well…you’re not them.

In a real competitive game like LoL you would get banned in 3 hours for feeding if you just go in “for fun” giving no crap to meta

On topic now, I do play my own builds, but I won’t play it if it’s kitten even if it’s fun. Most of the time they are pretty close to some meta builds, (I played mostly my version of GS/LB back when I played war, now I play my own celestial necro version without spite.)

Imo the best change would be to make life force go back to 50% while you’re OoC. Will make the necro more consistant and prevent those ridiculous situations when you get opened by a thief or mesmer with little to no life force, or where someone has to 1v1 you with full life force (which is just as stupid)

Or the same for thief and stealth.

Necro are the only class that doesn’t have access to its ONLY defensive mechanic in the beginning of the game.

It’s extremely annoying to have a thief or mesmer pop you down and only being able to say "oh well, didndt’ have life force, couldn’t do anything ¯\(?)/¯ "

I’m pretty sure this had been said a billion times already and we’re talking to a wall, but maybe one day you’ll be able to listen to your playerbase, a man can hope.

That’s the worst comparison i’ve ever seen. Warrior was my main since the beginning until last patch where I switch to necro.
1st, burst skills have not much to do with warrior survivability, beside for condi cleansing.
2nd, adrenaline is WAY easier to generate than life force.

If a mesmer burst you while you have no adrenaline you don’t give a flying kitten, you still pop endure pain.
If a mesmer burst you while you have no life force you straight up die.

As for wurm, 1st not everyone runs wurm, and 2nd if you use it to get (only) 10% LF it means you will most likely not have your only (crappy) escape for the first fight.

Other than that necro are pretty good I think, it could use some work but it’s overall okay.

I like what he did to blood magic. It actually feels like you’re stealing health from your opponent and it’s rather sustainable now.
Death magic is also pretty nice.

However, plague sending is a bad design (and it was unnecessary, you already had putrid mark, signet of plague and even deathly swarm to transfer condition), and I rly don’t like the new spite line which is filled by “win more” traits.

I won’t comment on mesmer, instant stun and PU buff were really bad ideas and anyone who actually plays some pvp could have tell without the need to test it.

I think they need to remove DS’s “hidden” power with 50% direct damage reduction, maybe even lower it to 50% of our HP, but then give us better life force generation options, maybe some extra ways to spend it, and some good generic defenses like invuln.

PU buff is the worst idea i’ve ever seen in the history of video game.

This trait was already pretty strong and abused by all those condi PU lamers in WvW, but at least it couldn’t be used in a shatter build because of the lack of trait points.

Now not only can shatter use it, but they buffed it, and not a little buff, it’s a super kittened buff.

Now mesmers stealth more than thief while having more burst and 2 invul. Super kittened indeed.

I’d love to have CI and fast hands as baseline. Well, maybe not the entire cleansing Ire, but at least the adrenaline generation part.
GW2 is the only MMO i’ve played where warriors doesn’t build adrenaline/rage while getting hit, and it doesn’t make sense to me.

People trait into defense for CI, not adrenal health. Adrenal health, while being pretty good, is not so good that you will not consider playing a build because it doesn’t have adrenal health.

However, you’re not gonna consider a build without CI, the adrenaline generation is just too important, and the condition cleansing too good.
They should at least make the adrenaline generation baseline. It would open up build diversity (Because I could imagine using other means of condition cleansing, or even playing without it), and it would also make the most sense (adrenaline also comes from being in danger).

As for fast hands, it’d be good to have it baseline too since I can’t imagine playing a PvP build without it.

um, yeah, the whole entire reason for slipping the ham trait where they did was to prevent HAMBOW warriors from dominating the meta again….

Which makes absolutely no sense since nobody plays it anymore because of its big flaws, and they’re actually buffing shoutbow, which everybody plays.

Hammer works fine without burst mast, I don’t feel Adren starved at all in Spvp/WvW. Time to put the crutch down.

Making people chose between merciless hammer and burst mastery would be a huge nerf to warrior’s hammer, which is already not the best weapon in PvP.

No, just no.

Obviously you can always play hambow or GS/hammer without it, but it’s just way better to use it.

Please do not put merciless hammer into discipline’s GM. A discipline GM trait has to compete with burst mastery. Burst mastery is arguably one of our best traits, and very few builds would (or even could) run without it. Those builds are definitely not hammer builds. Making people chose between merciless hammer and burst mastery would be a huge nerf to warrior’s hammer, which is already not the best weapon in PvP.

First, this is a game, not reality. And I can’t remember a single game where warriors aren’t mobile.
Second, a warrior is not a soldier. And to me, it absolutely makes sense that a warrior is highly mobile : they are physical beasts, in all aspects, not only brute force. This means they also runs fast.

Rampage is good but totally not op, out of the 3 builds I use in PvP, only one of them use rampage. You’d think it’d be a no brainer choice if it was that good.

About lich, they’re still fairly squishy and immobile, and they loses all their fear while becoming huge, which is basically like screaming “ME ! ME ! KILL ME !” in teamfights. Not too hard to outplay in a 1v1 either as long as you can los.

Changes are pretty good in general, but I’m a bit disappointed that cleansing Ire and fast hands didn’t change one bit. We’ll still have to run both these traits for any PvP build which hurts build diversity quite a bit.

I really don’t understand why they’re keeping adrenaline on getting hit on cleansing Ire. To me, this should be a mechanic of the class, and it’s purely logical I think. Without CI your adrenaline building sucks, and this is why i’ll always take it, even thought warriors now have good anti condi options besides CI.

Fast hands is just too good not to take it.

I like how they changer berserker’s power though, really good change.

The Reality of New Leaderboard Algorithm

I don’t understand why Anet is trying to invent something that already exists and is used by any competitive game : elo system.
Since this is a team game with a soloQ mode, which is basically the same as a moba, just copy what LoL does that works extremely well.

For people who haven’t play LoL here’s how it works :
Each game you play gives you or make you lose points depending on the difference between your mmr and the mmr corresponding to your points. (if you have a higher mmr than points, you’ll win more points in case of a win, and lose less points in case of a loss. If you have lower mmr than points you lose more points and win less)
If you don’t play for a while you start losing points (but not MMR !) until you play again.
Players at the top of the ladder must play more regularly to avoid decay, this way you prevent people from getting high and then not playing again to not risk losing their rank.

And that’s pretty much it, this way you have a leaderboard that actually represent skill, and prevent people from abusing it by not playing.
Simple.

Decay is not necessary, although it helps against high ranked people not playing games to not risk getting their elo lower.

Only reason I tag in ranked now is so that I avoid the possibility of having to play on one of the 3 aids map.
I’d rather wait 10m to have a real game than 2m just to find out I have to play on courtyard because one dude out of 10 decided it would be extremely fun.

Currently a soloQ warrior, i’m looking for a team to play with regularly and improve. I’m not looking for the best team ever, but i’m still looking for experienced PvP players so that we could eventually participate in tournaments.

As for my stats before the leaderboards reset, I’m not sure since it’s been a while for me (took a 6months break) but I think I was top 200.

I play exclusively warrior, and mostly Hambow Shoutbow and GS/LB.
I can also play celestial axebow, skull crack, and as someone who spent a lot of time solo roaming in WvW, I can also play zerker dps warrior.

Old queues worked very well, I had no problem at all with that.

It’s only since they decided to merge teams with pugs and not give a kitten about balancing it that SoloQ is kittened up.
It’s probably one of the worst idea someone ever had since Hitler decided to invade russia.

I play a zerker Greatsword/longbow in PvP and I do fine with it. So as far as being a dps goes, no problem for me.
About that “forced to play with a bow”, might be true in sPvP because it’s really just so strong and offer a lot of versatility. But in WvW i’ve never played with one and have a blast with GS/axe in your face build, and you can honestly roll with anything you want if you wanna roam WvW. And if you think about it, most true warriors in real life had good bow skills, so it actually makes more sense to play with a bow/melee combination than with double melee.
As far as being in a zerg in WvW, i’ve always hated that kitten, but I’m pretty sure they still use a hammer/sword horn combination.

Rather than removing Skyhammer, let's fix it.

You don’t need more options for steal evade etc.
You already have it.
Strongest thief build in sPvP right now is sîzer’s 2/0/0/6/6. And guess what ? It’s strength comes from the fact that this build evades most of the kitten that would hit you while having insanely good mobility, and from the fact that your steal ability becomes really kitten good.
But for some reason, close to noone cares for this build in WvW (and it’s not about lacking escape, mobility + refuge is more than enough to get out of almost any sticky situation)

I think many of you are looking at this from the wrong angle. It’s not the Warrior, or any one class/spec, that that is to blame. What’s wrong with PvP is that we have tiny little capture points and the fact that one tanky player can totally deny the cap of 2 or more players.
This design means that AoE and tanky builds are going to be prevalent. Hambow wouldn’t be that great if the capture point wasn’t so small. The same goes for condi necros and engis. If the points were larger the builds would still be good, but avoidable without leaving the point. I’m also not a fan of one player being able to deny the cap of 2+. It should definitely slow the progress by a large amount but it being able to stall indefinitely is not a mechanic I’m a fan of.

The playerbase seems to be pretty satisfied with where Warrior is at now. Beating on Hammer or Bow any more would just make them worthless.

This exactly. We need larger node. By a lot. Mid point in legacy of the Foefire is decently big, I think every node should be at least as big as this one.

That is completely inaccurate. The comp is even stronger in Legacy because it’s practically impossible to take a large point away from a full bunker team.

That’s only because of the mechanic which make one guy able to anticap a node against any number of ennemies.

Situation I hate downed state and rallying :
- 2v2 fight, My mate get downed 1s before I down one of them, and therfore die 1s before I get to stomp my opponent. => my opponent rally and basically what should have been left to a 1v1 between me and the last opponent becomes a 2v1 and I die.
- 1v2 fight, I manage to down someone but I had to burn my stability during the fight (what actually should be the main use if the game didn’t have that stupid mechanic) so I can’t stomp and I basically downed the guy for nothing.
- there’s multiple ennemies and a thief involved. basically you down the thief and can never stomp him because he port and stealth and his allies get him back up, or you down one of the thiefs friends and the thief just stealth him and revive him while you can’t do anything.
- we down multiples ennemies and they all rally by killing that one kittened drake that aggroed us and got hit by all the AoE just to get low enough to get instantly killed and rally them all.
- close 1v1 warrior vs warrior, you down the ennemy warrior with close to no hp left, he down you while in down state, then he gets to revenge first, stomp you and rally.
- you down an ele close to a tower and he just mist form back to his tower with a trollface.

This is so fun, you go to A or C, and then an engi comes and pulls you over the glass and you just die, LOL.
Then you go to canon and at the end of your stability you get fear or mesmer focus #4 pulled or w/e knockback and you just die again haha.

Seriously tho, skyhammer is probably the worst idea in the history of video games. (or one of the worst at least)

Where do you see me crying or even complaining about thieves ? All I said was thieves has better and stronger builds than D/P that doesn’t need stealth because the guy above me said nerfing stealth would break thief balance.
I do find P/D thieves really lame tho and way too easy to play considering how effective this is but I don’t complain about it.
And that’s not Anet’s fault if you guys play it. Thieves are not forced to play either backstab or condi. I’m thinking mostly about S/D here, this is probably the strongest thief build right now, and yet you barely see anyone playing it (beside sPvP). So yeah, it has a high learning curve, and I guess most WvW player don’t want to practice something that’s hard to play when they could just play D/P and kill every bad wvw player they meet while running away from every good player. We need precisions, do you want roaming or zerging in wvw ?

Warriors and eles are good at both (staff for zerging, double dagger for roaming).
Guardian are less good at roaming (they’re strong but lack mobility to escape kittenty situations).

It’s cute that WvW players dump on PvE players.

WvW is not a skilled playfield. It’s about mob mentality at best. The side that makes the blob do the most wins. EotM is about using that format to make the most out of the available rewards. WvWers are watered down PvE players any day of the week.

sPvP players are laughing at you guys making the distinction. Anet is laughing at the sPvP players who represent 1 percent of their paycheck.

Who wins?

As a both WvW and sPvP player, you’re not forced to go in the zerg to play WvW.

Roaming in WvW is the only good wild PvP experience I had since WoW Vanilla. Yes, the opponents are often not as skilled as the one you find in sPvP (some are just plain awfull), but the fact that you need to be aware of everything that’s going on near you so you don’t get outnumbered by too much or just straight up walked through by a zerg makes it a lot interesting. Plus, as a small roaming group you can always score a bunch of kills out of big zergs (PU, not guild) and drive them if you play it smart, and that’s a lot of fun.

Yes, except it regens 3 times less, and Terkov here was talking about warrior regening more.
