No I meant before you derailed the thread the first time specifically after the OP stated “Please, in advance, do not mention grenades”……………….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I can do everything you are asking with any class. Honestly, your very general and not very clear in direction. A build is easily available to bring the damage, and “skill” is what determines the survivability.
As far as your roaming comments, I am assuming you are referring to playing WvW, as you mentioned “zerg” but its hard to say since there are so many champion zergs in open world PvE now. But again, its easily done with every profession, but your ability to kill nyone that crosses your path has nothing to do with the profession but your ability to play it and adapt very quickly to the builds you encounter.
This is why your getting so many “sounds like profession X” responses. Because your list is very none specific.
I can only suggest taking every profession to the mists. Spend an hour or several, with each professions sparing the other profession NPC. Get a feel for the various skills per class. Once you define more towards a class or two, then we can advise you to learn to use it to accomplish your goals.
I would suggest starting with learning the difference between conditions (dots) and direct damage as a starting point. Knowing how you care to deal your damage will eleviate half the build options for you.

After reading this thread and all of the OPs post, I have to agree with his original comment. You are absolutely correct, you do not get it, not at all. That’s okay, not every game is for everyone. I hope you either learn to love it or go on your way and find a game you do enjoy.
One thing that baffles me though, is the few posters here that are new to the game, but claim to have come from other MMOs, and act as if they are shocked that the starting zones are not crowded. To act in such a manner shows either an absolute lack of fore thought, foolishly preset expectations, or a classic over all lack of population flow in MMOs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I would say necro with engineer as a close second. Not sure why someone mentioned warrior, as they are second to last. just ahead of guardian. When your limited to only one or two conditions it hard to give them much value in this race.

Just a typo, you should report it with /bug in game. I have encountered many of these so far since the “great tool tip clean up”.

I have had a large amount of positive experiences with turrets. The problem is that it is generally just a sub par experience to other builds I use.

Did you fill out a proper report on that as well?

The FT is a very solid kit. It may not maximize damage, but it offers good damage and solidifies that with some utility. How it compares to everything else is ultimately irrelevant to this thread.
Except it’s not. It’s completely inferior. Up to you if you want to use it, but that doesn’t change that fact.
Actually it is exactly what I stated it is. I stated it is a solid kit. Perhaps you should read my post before you argue against something I didn’t say. It comes as as either trolling (which is what your doing because you assist in derailing the thread to try to make it a kit comparison thread and not a FT thread) or something worse.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Not seeing where anyone asked you to explain anything off topic. If they actually did, you should have deflected and explained this thread is about the FT itself. You have done this too many times on too many threads recently to use such a lame excuse.
If I ask you to explain how to make cheese, The fact that I asked does not by any means justify you making such an off topic post.
As well the "pointing your figure and crying ‘he started it’ " is just plain foolish.

There is a whole thread stickied at the top on AH -altruistic healing – and Hammer. gear, traits, etc… everything explaimed thouroughly.
Yes, I am aware of that, thank you. I wanted to have a more personal discussion to ask questions to other posters about specific gear, traits, and weapons and how they may benefit how I want to play, so I made a thread on it, but thank you.

Its stupid how being ruch is based on luck or mindless farming. I know people with 4 legendaries, but when I took him to wvw roaming, he died like a fly.
Define rich??
I have 3217g 17s 97c at this moment, and I have never received a drop that was worth over 20g at the time. So I feel what is truly stupid is the assumption that it is based on luck. Last year I spent 20ish gold per shield and bought 12 Ghastly Grinning Shields.
They are going for 780g at the moment. I have sold 2 in the past month for 1200g total and 8 more previously as some lower prices and kept two for myself.
I am curious how this is pure luck?

Why not merge the map chat across all these cities and make exits to the mists to the corresponding race’s home city?
Heard this before and a wonderful idea, don’t know why it hasn’t been implemented…
Goodness no. This is one reason I stay in The Grove, when I want a city for business. It seems to draw a more intelligent discussion in the occasional map chat. I certainly do not want to see the rude junk I always read in LA.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I only go there when there is a event. I generally stay in the grove, I found once I learned my way around, it was much easier to use and less lag.

So in a symbol build, what gear do you suggest? DO we have a target amount of cirt chance or power or any other stats?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
So you guys recommend a “symbol” build for hammer thus far? Any utility suggestions or specific off traits (by off traits I mean ones not effecting the main focus, in this case, “symbols”) ??
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
What facets of the game are you interested in?
For instance – the shield is pretty worthless in 98% of the PvE content of the game, useless in WvW zergs, ok in sPvP and pretty darn good in WvW roaming. The hammer on the other-hand is a generally useful weapon.
Good question, I should of clarified this originally. I spend about 60% of my time in WvW, about 35% in PvE and 5% in sPvP.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I have mained an Engineer since release, but I love the look and concept of the hammer as a weapon. I looked through a build editor and then some through the warrior and now the guardian sub forums.
I also love shields. One of the original reasons I went with the engineers was the pistol/shield combo. So I want a shield in my other weapons set. Most likely want to use a mace with that.
I know nothing about good trait combinations for a build like this, nor do I know enough about Guardian utility skills and what combinations of them mesh well, particularly with the weapons sets I have in mind.
I would like to ask the guardian community for some direction on this. Do traits tend to be work together for this weapons combination? Do you have suggestions of that I may want to try in combination with the hammer other then mace/shield? Are there some solid hammer/mace+shield builds out there now?
Any direction on this would be greatly appreciated, as would any links to related builds. Thanks in advance for your help.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I do not even comprehend the OPs logic. I have played a engineer as my main since launch, and I find the mate hammer build to be annoying to fight, but other then that, I do not see a problem.
I like the “concept” of the hammer to the point that I am here to read up on the warrior (as well as the guardian forums) and saw this and just shook my head.

Plain and simple, OP your making completely inaccurate assumptions by assuming every person will interpret the meaning of the icons in the same way. Numurals leave no room for a need of interpretation.
well, i am speaking for myself. perhaps i did not make that clear in the first post.
“Numurals leave no room for a need of interpretation.”
sorry but what do u mean by this? O_O
I mean that, your wrong to claim that icons are so identifiable. Numerals have been tied to traits in the order they are displayed. Which has a proven psychological connection following the organizational patter laid out since you learned to count.
We do not have such ties to icons and pictures. If someone sees an icon or picture, why would you assume that it would translate to a certain subject, or in this case, trait line, to said person? An alphabetical or numeric link is easy to follow. If I put some random icon that I feel represent or is in theme with a trait or trait line, it is very possible, if not likely, that your mind would not interpret that picture or icon in a manner that that links it to said trait or line.
If I put a icon that I feel represents a trait and then put out the traits line and numeral, which one do you think the general public will link to the correct trait more often.
My point is, that your original post’s explanation is counter intuitive to its goal.

This build has been around for a long long time.. why do people not know about it until someone on youtube/twitch shows them ..
Why the condescension? Because they may be new to the profession and know little to nothing about it. I had never heard of the “Blackwater” build until I made my mesmer. So I asked questions about it. Just becaue a build has been around a long time does not mean it is know by all. If a player just got the game, its rather foolish to assume they should know about a burst build just because its been around for a year in a game they never played before.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
it’s a very funny build but not so effective in tournament because it has little survivability, and condition damage in this game is superior instead of power builds.
You mean in PvP. Because to suggest it is across the other to game modes would be very inaccurate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
There is already enough imbalance in the game as it is. Balancing value in such ideas as Casia mentioned would be abysmal, and players will stack them and break the game in the eyes of soooooo many, demolishing their experience. I mean I can appreciate where your coming from but it would cause 10 fold more damage then it will add anything beneficial.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I crunched some numbers the other day. This test was based purely on Bomb #1 skill at 100 uses. The total base damage is the damage of the NON-crits and the total crit damage is the total of all the damage of the bombs that did crit. It was all done with absolutely no traits purchased, no runes, no gems, and no sigils, nothing but purely exotic armor and trinkets, and nothing else.
Berzerker
base damage…………………………………859
crit chance……………………………………37%
crit damage…………………………………..65%
total base dmg of non-crit attacks……..54,117
total damage from crit atk only…………63,339
Avg Dmg per bomb 1225
Assasins
base damage…………………………………717
crit chance…………………………………….52%
crit damage……………………………………65%
total base dmg of non-crit attacks………34,416
total crit dmg………………………………..80,132
Avg Dmg per bomb 1145

For general PvE build with condition damage I like a build like this.
I actually use this build in PvE regularly and just swap all the “rabid” stat armor for “dire” stat armor for WvW.
I like this because it is you can keep 1000-1200 AoE bleed damage up 100% of the time as well as confusion, burn, and poison. With coated bullets your really good for tagging mobs. you deal out very solid damage, and can be just as effective in ranged or melee (handy when stacking in corners in a dungeon).
You can use your blast finishers to stack might or even stealth, which can be handy in many places in PvE. Elixir Gun is handy for all kinds of situation.

Personally, I feel the abusers of profanity use are by far more to blame then anything to do with Anet. They are the reason we have to have a filter in the first place.
It is even worse in game. Standing in LA I can see some slip of expressions to make a point, but mostly I see a group of jerks who think they are funny using 10 profanities or racial slurs in one sentence in map chat. When politely asked ( and I do actually mean politely) to curb the language to away from so many profanities, I was immediately told to go do some very profane things with farm animals. Interestingly enough, when you inform them that after the way they rebuffed your polite request you are going to just report them all, then they start either cursing you directly or kissing your tail. Generally kissing your tail. Indicating they are well aware they were braking rules with their harsh behavior.
Those are also the type of people that I blame for filters and any issues that accompany them.

Leaving out Givers as the only stat combination from ascended weapons was a deliberate choice made by arenanet, so dont count on a bugfix.
Where did they post this statement at?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Intentionally and by design, giving any profession that much direct control over a necessary mechanic in any game mode is a terrible idea.
If you want to draw more to the profession, make the profession as a whole better, so it has more value in the game as a whole.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
To be entirely honest, turrets won’t work in many cases until they can be mobile. Even in tpvp and spvp where there are points to defend turrets are just not viable.
Give them the ability similar to rangers:
Grandmaster Trait XI Spirits Unbound Spirits can move and follow you.
turrets have fanbelts attached to them like the hacked robots of bioshock and move with you. This would be Grandmaster Trait in inventions. They don’t need buffing they just need to move.
^This
No.
Making them mobile will guarantee they stay weak.
What makes turrets appealing is the fact that they’re strong yet immobile to have strong area denial/punish.
They need a really low cooldown on pick up, that will instantly fix the mobility issues.
You my friend are making some very unfounded assumptions, and bad ones at that if you ask me. After over a year, they have already stayed weak. That is the only guarantee you can make about them.
Although I do prefer my stance I have been posting since beta, that you appear to support. A low recast, allowing us to simply reset at another location. I feel that is the best way to go. That would make them more akin to use of phantasms then spirits. While still being different in there function and use.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Having wheels or tracks or whatever makes them stop being turrets.
I do not want that, personally. I want turrets to be turrets, not tanks (as awesome as having an army of mini-tanks sounds).
No offense, but it appears you do not actually know what a turret is or what a tank is.
Tanks by definition transports people, either as operators or passengers.
Turrets in this case, are simply a revolving or pivoting structure.
I have no idea how you can come to the conclusion that wheels, tracts, or any other method of mobility stops making them be turrets. Without persons being transported by them, they can never be tanks.
If they make it mobile they’ll NEVER be buffed then.
They are not really buffing them much now.

it should also be a blast finisher but i don’t see that happening either.
No it shouldn’t. That is why you do not see it happening.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I agree, anything that allows turrets to be more mobile. I don’t care if it is because they roll on their own, float around like ranger spirits, have a ridiculously short recast and less defense so we can constantly replant them as we move, or summon them to use. Anything that removes the limitations of mobility we have now. I cannot imagine why anyone would be against allowing mobility with them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
They did it to rocket boots, they should do it to other similar skills.
Yeah, but to be honest, I loved rocket boots before. All those who complained about it so ardently cost us access to one of the lowest recast “stun breakers” in the game. Alas, we should probably not get into that since this is a thread on jump shot.
This would be a neat idea, but they’d end up increasing the RC or lowering damage. Are you willing to live with that? Overcharged shot already cures immo, it’d be weird to have 1 weapon with 2 skills that cure it.
They do not mind allowing warriors to do so with a trait, as I mentioned. Some of the weapons have 2, some of those weapons F1 are movement skills, as well as some of their utility skills.

Make sure you use /bug in game and report it, as well, remake this thread in the “bug” section of the forums.

Do another test just to be safe, then /bug in game and report it, as well make a post about it in the bug section of the forums.

Yeah, I would love a trait like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mobile_Strikes Mobile strike breaks immobilizes on use. It would make EG that much better with a quick back out of tough spots with Acid Bomb. It would make jump shot even more utlitarian.

It might help to post this in the suggest thread as well.

Leg mods is useful, and there is food and other traits that can stack together to make it very useful.

Another reason I love engineers is because of the subtle truth to this
Yet as what feels to be one of the most neglected professions, we still kick tail.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
The only best way to work a 30/30/0/0/10 build is with dire gear, completely depending on the conditions. This tends to well with bombs, but not as well with grenades.

I like this comment. Role playing the whole “not right in the head, demolitions expert”.

Your making reaching assumptions to so falsly assume because I quoted only one line that it is all I read. Your very incorrect sir. It is all I chose to address in my post, so I quoted it
I partially did so because we already have a kit that is an elite, which function very well in my opinion.
Addressing the rest of your post would be several different discussions. For example, your explanation of what an elite is designed to do in function. Based on the fact that in my experience more elites do not give you any advantage then their are that give you a big advantage, I have to completely disagree with your summery of their design. Although I believe that was their intention, they fell well short in my opinion.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is that clear enough?typical answer from a personal perspective. not convincing. no arguments, no debate. just an ignorable answer
We do not need any argument or debate to prevent changing what we like to a style we do not like. Honestly, your request is more ignorable then his reply to it.
if you want to play APB style go play APB, otherwise, we will continue to enjoy our GW2 being GW2 style.
