I am curious how this will hurt conditions engineers with every player in the game now being able to cleanse the damage from pistol #2, pistol #3, elixir gun #3, grenade #5, bomb #3, and tool kit #3.

Rampager’s gear says you do not know what your talking about.
Celestial gear raises an eye brow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Celestial gear is potentially the best gear. Because If you want to use FT. You will be doing condi damage.
…No, actually. Power is better for FT.
Power may be most beneficial, but that is no argument for discounting the condition damage all together.

I don’t think Phasers would fit in the Guild Wars lore.
See the entire Asuran race.
See also the entire Engineer profession.
But seriously, you would be hard pressed to convince me that phasing is needed anywhere in GW2 to be honest. It seems to me as it would be an unnecessary wast of server space and programming effort.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
The suggestion the OP is making in his frustration is that the ignore function should remove the target player from your gaming experience entirely and with no exceptions.
Honestly, I believe that you would be hard pressed to find many who disagree with this to be honest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Honestly, I prefer the current system. Everyone who killed world bosses or level crafting to make or win that gear you buy would be losing out while Anet is the only ones to profit. Not that I am against Anet profiting, I am simply against other players getting shorted on the rewards for getting the loot.
As well, that would remove reasons to run dungeons, kill world bosses and what not. Rewards make the world go round.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
they do not need to buff guardians. They simply need to either fix certain warrior skills/traits to prevent such regen+armor+hit points+damage. Perhaps they need to gate it so that certain traits cannot be combined as they are or adjust skills.
I leveled all the professions, and I have to admit, Anet really does need to stop pampering warriors. in fact, visiting the warrior forums causes me hair loss to read some of the things they make threads to complain about.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro
Lol, no one has figured it out?
Based on the fact that this was posted by a player on the week of release, I doubt its very reliable.
Based on the fact that wiki and devs all verified that different mob types and bosses have different aggro systems on a mob by mob bases, I doubt its very reliable.
Perhaps it is wiser to think for ones self and experience it rather then blindly assume that a wiki post by one player is fact. Many here appear to be confused about the difference between what a Wiki is and an Encyclopedia is. Especially if your going to add the “Lol” to a post.

Also what is a good full Condi spec engi. I never used one ans wand want to try it.
This build is mediumly tanky, with good condition damage and 100% condition duration. I have used it with great success. Bombs for melee AoE and Pistols for ranged AoE.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqel0pqb3zy3F17IxoCdG0D9mX++5xblbaB-jQCBYNBkqAkkGITqIas1XFRjVJjIqWdDzYWo2iWRTKgFlGB-e
Here is the same build but with a 50% crit chance to prob more conditions but more offensive and less tanky.
With this build, Fire bomb alone it does 11k-12k damage. 8333 with just the burns, shrapnel averaging 2 bleeds at 18s a pop is 4347. just over 12,680ish damage all together if sigil of earth procs 50% of the time. That’s on an 8s cooldown.
There are so many variations of the builds we post that you can spend days playing and tweaking traits and gear to get just what you want.

There is a reason that everyone suggest zerker gear for grenades.
The reason why everyone suggests Berserker gear is because direct damage > condition damage in PvE.
I am well aware of that thank you. I thought that was fairly obvious when I posted the test of all the damage comparisons in zerker gear. The whole point was that in the case of zerker gear, the comparison demonstrated bombs as outperforming grenades with zerker gear.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
In my opinion, the first skill you may want is to get speedy kits VI in the tools line to kep swiftness up and get around quickly.
Bomb kit is probably the most efficient non traited kit for lower levels in my opinion as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I mentioned it before. Smoke bomb, Fire bomb, and Glue bomb all have the original explosion, then tic 3 times. that is 4 chances to proc on 3 of the bombs.
I run a 30/30/0/0/10, 100% condition build.
There is a reason that everyone suggest zerker gear for grenades. With Fire bomb alone it does 11k-12k damage. 8333 with just the burns, shrapnel averaging 2 bleeds at 12s a pop is 2898. just over 11,834ish damage all together if sigil of earth procs 50% of the time. I do not feel that the community gives Fire bomb, for example, credit for that amount of damage.
Then again with zerker gear this test support bombs there as well.
We’re not gonna get accurate PvE DPS until they do something with the combat log but an easy way to get a comparative view is with the Indestructible Golem in the mists. It has 80K HP on its bar and 2600 armor. I simply time how long it takes to ‘kill’ it, usually three times consecutively without pause. So 240K HP / ‘seconds to kill 3 times’ = DPS. e.g. 240,000/77=3,116 DSP for grenades.
Strictly DPS wise these numbers are from my personal testing. Done in the mists for a ‘sterile’ environment. All done with Zerker setup to simply compare DPS levels.
30/10/0/0/30 Grenades w/SD runs around ~3100 DPS
0/30/0/30/10 FT/HGH ~2100 DPS
0/30/0/20/20 FT w/EG4 and SD ~2670 DPS
*10/30/0/20/10 FT w/EG4 and SD ~3050DPSI am sitting at 3300 DPS for Bombs
30/10/0/0/30 EG,TK,BKGenerally I’ve found that SD helps increase dps on most builds.

Yup. I play engi for 75% of my play time. Mesmer about 10% and Guardian about 10%, the other 5% is spread out amount he others (got all professions to 80) and every time I go to move somewhere, the first thing I do is burn my heal trying to swap to med kit.
The other thing is I always burn a utility trying to hit rocket boots when I am in a hurry.

Personally I am a fan of the 0/25/0/20/25 build with celestial gear, but that’s just me.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
More DPS heavy or solid damage with more survivability?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
If more than half of what you’re doing is spamming 1 skill (Autoattack) then your doing it wrong. this is where I feel your going wrong to start. It might be “okay” for corner stacking PvE dungeons, but not WvW.
I am not trying to do anything, I am succeeding at doing 75% the same direct damage as you while also doing 50% of what you are doing in bleeds, to out damage your way by 25% with the same skill.
For conditions, Bombs are inferior in almost every way to Grenades. Bombs have burning which grenades don’t, but in my experience that doesn’t do much in zergs. They also have confusion, but that isn’t particularly powerful in PvE. In contrast, Grenades can stack vuln and bleeds better, have better poison uptime than bombs have Burning uptime, and have chill.
The math actually favor bombs for damage.
And why do you keep hand picking one particular bomb skil for one hand picked situation and try to pass that off as a representation of the entire game mode ?
How much damage are you doing in any aspect, be it WvW, PvP, or PvE with flash grenade or freeze grenade? Poison grenade? with a full condition build, even in PvE one skill used by a mob will do more damage with confusion from concussion bomb then all 3 of those grenade skills will.
Also I rreeaallllyy got to ask. Why is it every time someone is new here and ask a question, you guys always try to make it a “I use grenades there fore, bow to my ego” discussion?

Well with grenades, zeker is optimal. With pistols, I recommend rabid. but you will still need to decide on kit/utilites so we know what to recommend to start.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
If he is talking rabid gear, it would appear the OP intends to go condition damage, so I do not see any reason for soldiers/zerker gear. I guesss we need to determine what he wants to do first.

Engineers have a similar problem with kits. Engi kits are the only option for weapons swap, yet the kits weapons skills do not scale with weapons damage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
With exotics you have to acquire mats and level crafting to make them, or spend gold on them. Why not use the laurels he already has laying around that will not be used for anything else any time soon and acquire them.
I am unclear how “your” having alts is relevant to the OPs question at all. Or how it relevant to whether or not you get ascended gear on your main. Particularly when he has laurels he is not doing anything else with.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
1) I am in guild chat constantly and I have never ever seen or heard of anyone having chat suppressed in guild chat.
2) I can see that. It is called a whisper and not a personal message.
3) Isnt that what message of the day is for? I rather not have the option there for gold spammers to hit me up even more just so you can send more mail, yup, paying the price for the what the badies do in this case, but thats not my, your or Anets fault.
4) Absolutely agree
5) I could care less. The term seems like such an oxymoron to me to say “social” when there is no actual personal interaction. But I certainly do not want to see Anet invest time in something so trivial for all the clowns out there who walk all over the place with no clue what is going on around them because your heads always buried in their smartphone that they miss the real world. I rather they work on actually gaming aspects.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
I just turned 80 a couple of days ago and I am really struggling as how to spend my karma (450k) and laurels (95), badges and tears… and where’s the best place to farm gear. Dungeons in GW2 are not that fun, so I was thinking fractals and WvW
What stats are you looking for? That is the first thing you need to decide. Do you want to be tanky direct damage, tanky condition damage, glass cannon burst damage, debuff/condition solid damage ? Give us some direction and we can tell you where to find everything.
My first reflex was to buy jewelry with my laurels but I was told it’s not worth it, is it true ?!
It was absolutely the right reflex. Once you decide what stats you want the Laural purchased jewelry is the best you can get. Find who ever told you it was a bad idea and kick them in the shins, and remember to question anything they ever tell you again……
For karma, I was thinking of heading to Ruins of Orr and getting myself a rabid set, is that good ?
Any advice welcome
Thanks
Rabid set isn’t bad at all. If that is what you want to go with, you can buy complimentary jewely from the laural vender (and don’t forget to kick your frield that said this jewelry was a bad idea.)

Reason I say that bombs don’t scale well with conditions is that
1) They scale wonderfully with power
2) They only have 2 offensive conditions, Burning and Confusion
3) Confusion isn’t especially powerful in PvE
4) Burning quickly gets overwritten/overlapped in WvW, PvE
5) Both conditions have a cooldown, though admittedly not a long one
Very literally one 1 bomb attack scales with power to any amount at all. That is the auto attack. If you sum up the entire kit as one attack, I cannot trust your logic to exclude the other skills. I can stack 10 bleeds very very easy with bombs. As smoke bomb, glue bomb, and fire bomb offer 4 opportunities a piece to add bleed ticks.
Burning only gets over written if your condition damage is low. But I do have to agree that this is certainly a weakness with conditions as a whole.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Honestly OP, you cannot go wrong in my opinion. I have had all professions to 80 for some time now. I find I can build any profession anywhere from glass cannon to very tanky, each in their own way.
Just randomely pick one and start playing it. Then go to that professions specific forums and folks are always there to aid new players in leveling and building out said profession.

What originally drew me to the FT was back before they destroyed kit refinement. At one point, swapping to EG dropped a super elixir at your feet giving a AoE heal tic and removing one condition and when you swapped into FT it did flame blast, which was a small damage AoE just like the one from the sigil of fire and it also cleansed one condition.
With the 2 conditions removed this way in an AoE, the slight damage, and the AoE heal tic from it, it really made the utilitarian aspect of the FT/EG stand out.
Personally I feel this combo is still under estimated, but I also feel a good portion of its appeal was lost for me with the destruction of kit refinement.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Everyone needs to make sure to report these. Squeaky wheel gets the grease and all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
-Bomb Kit (Reduced Effectiveness in WvW or PvP)
This part caught my eye. The only difference is Concussion bomb, everything in all 3 game modes is the same, the only difference is the damage of the confusion. Just wanted to clarify that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
It still misses tics if you don’t aim it manually,
So do all 5 grenade and bomb attacks, and the EGs main cleanse is an exact replica of the skill your complaining about now. This by no means creates an issue with any other weapon, hammer, greatsword, swords, maces, 90% of the skills in the game have to be aimed at the enemy or will miss. I just cannot see why this one is magically so difficult to use by comparison.
And the point of the thread was to find out if there’s something the flamethrower does better now than our other options and if that’s the reason people have started using it more, but it seems the answer to that question is no. It’s still just a stylistic thing.
Stylistic to a point yes. Most use it in conjunction with the EG, as most of the traits that effect one effect the other. In my opinion though, when they destroyed kit refinement, they ruined this build for me. At one point, swapping to EG dropped a super elixir at your feet giving a AoE heal tic and removing one condition and when you swapped into FT it did flame blast, which was a small damage AoE just like the one from the sigil of fire and it also cleansed one condition.
But you keep missing the point. Players use it for the reasons they stated, yet you onlt chose to focus on the styleizing of it. The use it because it is great for tagging mobs, has a low CD reflect and knockback, a fire field, and an AoE blind. So it is doing solid damage with great utilitarian benefit.
And Coglin, you haven’t really offered anything other than passive aggressiveness.
Really? That is indeed an interesting statement. I could have swore when you were posting misinformation, inaccuracies, and fallacy based on your bias dislike of the kite, that my factually correction and educational explanations offered very much.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
“Facing your target”, IE keeping them dead center in the middle of your screen
This is what is known as a fallacy. Its not even remotely true. When I use the FT I hit people to the extreme far right and left of my screen. The have adjusted the cone to be huge. You are displaying a ridiculous amount of illogical bias here.
Perhaps, but you’re giving up another useful utility like Tool Kit or Rocket Boots for an extra DoT.
How so? I use rocket boots with my FT build. Yet another fallacy here. You state this as if by using the FT we magically lose our other utility slots. And what do you mean by extra dot? Its a power based kit with napalm for a fire field. Proper FT builds do a 3k+ AoE with the flame jet and very often get a 4k-6k AoE with flame blast.
I take issue with having to manually detonate it when it can be almost impossible to tell where the flame ball actually is during large fights, not to mention the ever prevalent ability lag making it even harder to time correctly. It would be nice if it could just, you know, hit the target it’s being aimed at. It’s not like it does so much damage that manual detonation should be a requirement.
I dunno, I almost never have lag issues, that is long past. And as stated before, you do not have to manually detonate it, again your crating fallacy. Flame blast detonates at 600 and has a radius of 240. Its not rocket science. If you want to hit something closer, detonate it. Use skill #3 the flame blast, its pretty simple.
Just because you take issue with the rest of the world preferring the ability to detonate it prematurely if we like, does not mean its lesser of a skill, it means a better skill for the rest of us.
I just cannot wrap my head around why you even made this thread. You asked a question, and every time anyone with experience offers answers or reasoning, you rebuff it with over reaction or complete bias against it. Obviously you disliked the kit before you made this thread, and you refuse to accept any benefits we offer based on our experiences. If you cannot understand why players use it, then so what? Don’t use it yourself. Don’t use it.

Most dire builds will have >5% crit chance from the lack of precision. And what bunker builds scale well with condition damage? FT doesn’t well, bombs don’t well, toolkit doesn’t well. Pistol does crap damage regardless, whenever I have it equipped I spend most of my time in another kit, switching out only to use a single skill or two.
When you suggest bombs do not scale well with conditions, I have to question your logic here. And pistols actually do fairly decent damage, it may not be the best but (they really need to make P#1 3s beleed or even 4s like it was in beta)pistol #2 does really solid damage. Fire bomb will stack 12 stacks of burn. They can cleanse, but most only maintain one cleanse and in 8s I have all the conditions stacked right back. If not sooner.

The lore very specifically states that engineer do not use signets because they are of magic, and engineers are opposed to using magic. Just tossing that out there for those always seeming curious as to why we do not have them. Though I am certainly all for possibly adding a passive benefit for gadgets.
Although, I cannot say my view of what suits each gadget aligns with yours.
Personal Battering Ram: Improves power. – Seems as good a passive as any I can think of for this gadget.
Rocket Boots: Improves condition damage. – Doesn’t seem right to me at first, but I cannot think of a better idea at the moment, and I guess it does align with rocket kick being a condition damage ability.
Slick Shoes: Grants a 25% increase in movement speed. – I think this falls in line with what many have said before, and it certainly matches thematically to me.
Throw Mine: Your explosions deal 5% more damage. – Works for me.
Utility Goggles: Improves precision – I do not like the addition of precesion for these, I would feel a removal of a condition every ten seconds or something more applicable in my eyes.
Personally I would love to see utility goggles changes altogether. Gadgets have no condition removal. It all seems focused on elixirs and their traits(heck even kits only have 2, one through EG#5 and one through MK#4, 2 condition removal spread out on 2 kits is not much at all, and a lot of work to remove two conditions). I would love to see these become something like “Gas Mask” on the tool belt skill. Change the utility skill version of it to the 10 vulnerability and the 10s of fury, removing the blind immunity all together, it seems so situation at its very best. While changing “Analyze” to " Gas Mask" and simply have it remove 3 conditions with say a 30s cool down.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Sorry Stalima, but your build will not remotely touch the damage that the standard SD discharge will do. Not even close in my opinion.
And as far as
remember 2 dodges and your static discharge can become pretty much useless crippling the whole thing
That is a pointless argument. The easy counter statement to that is to simply not blindly spam your burst abilities while someone is dodging.

WHen you mention group cleansing, the EG #3 comes to mind, with its cleanse of up to 5 conditions in an AoE on a 10s cool down seems just as dependable as anything you will find in a standard guardian build.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Every build you can use dire for is better with soldiers or rabid, really ?? A condition bunker ? Hardly……….Soldiers is very limited in value for a lot of build for the engineer, it is worthless for pistols. Thats half our available weapons.
In many WvW situations, you will get much much more value in survivability then the weak damage added by some crits. You can easily get enough crits to proc your on crit conditions with dire.

As far as I am concerned, we have plenty of engineer themed armor. The problem here is that everyone and their dog is going to have very different concepts of what “engineer themed armor” is.
Mechanical engineer theme ??
Chemical engineer theme ??
Biological engineering theme ??
Agricultural engineer theme ??
Industrial engineer theme ??
Nuclear engineer theme ??
Aerospace engineer theme ??
Electrical engineer theme ??
Structural engineer theme ??
Computer engineer theme ??
Molecular engineer theme ??
The list goes on and on. How any particular person views the engineer and their concept of “attire” is so ridiculously varying. There is no way they can please everyone. We have plenty of well themed gear for us already. I will always take more, but who is to say what it should look like to suit every players view of how an engineer should look ??
Most of the engineers I know either wear, khakis+soft collared shirts, lab coats, hard hats, coveralls, or arc flash proof jeans with matching long sleeve shirts.

My point is, give Warriors some weaknesses in order to create counter play while preserving their strong ability.
I think every class has a skill or trait that falls in the OP category. but I have had all professions to 80 since around January, and I do not think you really know what your talking about. I personally feel anyone who has not at least leveled every profession and played at least 20 hours of WvW with each profession at 80, has no business making threads about profession balance. Honestly I feel most of the complaints are made by the inexperienced and ignorant. I do not mean that as a direct insult, I mean it by it true definition. A good amount of posters wanting to discuss what is or is not balanced, does so with an absolute lack of knowledge in various aspects of the game and various professions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Here is a very functional build that I have used that fits the P/S + Grenades + Bombs that the OP mentions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Landing hits is very easy. It is much much better then back at release, so I am unclear why your claiming otherwise.
Because the #1 skill still misses ticks and does reduced damage unless your target is in the middle of your screen, and the napalm skill requires you to manually trigger the explosion which is a pain you’re being spammed with particle effects during large fights.
Actually, all you have to do is face the target, its pretty darn simple. If your missing the target, your the problem.
As far as the napalm, I am unclear what your talking about, its a ground targeting skill, you may be referring to flameblast and triggering the detonation, if that is the case, then I fail to see your complaint, as the control on the detonation was ravagely demanded by us regular engineers here on the forums until the devs changed it to its current form based on player feed back. So if your complaining that you take issue with it working the way the vast majority requested, then there is nothing I can do for you when your in the small minority here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
The bleed an vul. issue are something that has bothered me across skill or weapon sets all across the game and wit every profession. I annoys me to no end to have when you have a set of utilities or weapons set that is based on power, then has that one or two skills that has the odd condition, which will always end up kind of useless because no one will us it with any condition damage.
The one that gets me the mist is the engineer shields skills. Mainly for control, but the damage they do are purely based on direct damage. Yet the only weapon that can be use at all with the shield is a MH pistol which is 100% condition based.
So yeah, they really need to make something either direct damage or condition damage and stop blending them on most skill sets.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
If your going to mention rabid and PVT, why not mention Dire as well. Its very solid for one who likes condition for bombs over power for a bunker build.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Honestly, I think those are what the general public feels are the biggest problems at well. At least I know I do, and most I know describe it the same way.

Landing hits is very easy. It is much much better then back at release, so I am unclear why your claiming otherwise. No, it is not the most optimal damage kit, but it is solid damage with a lot of utilitarian value and very good for taging mobs when leveling or doing karma trains.
