So if I kill tequatl on 2 separate characters I still get the dragon chest in both instances but not if I kill subject alpha in p2? Dungeon chests are nerfed to once per account but open world is still per character?
Tequatl chest once every 8 hours vs. 3x CoF chests every 10min.
You get my point though right? The open world chests that are every 15 minutes are character bound and they tend to give better loot(greens vs blues!) so you’re going to be doing those events more with how it’s set up. I’d prefer doing dungeons instead of WPing around, waiting and pressing 1 on most of the events.

Is EVERYTHING account oriented now? I know you can only get 60 tokens per path per day per account(per per per) and the next run is 20…but does this apply to every little chest in dungeons now? It says in the patch notes 1 per day but doesn’t specify per account or character. So is there really no purpose in doing dungeon paths more than once or having more than 1 character to do dungeons on?
14k achievement points,
5 thousand PvP games
Ascended berserker gear
Insane gameplay
…but a ranger.
And getting kicked by four 2k AP warriors, which I know suck big time, but that’s better than no playing.
Thanks for that Anet. Gj on PvE balancing. And I though PvP was kittened up…
OK first thing, did they say they only wanted those 3 classes? Because if they did, you shouldn’t have joined. You said you have 15k AP, so is it ok to say 2k AP is too low? You’re basically saying they should accept you because of your high AP but it’s a case of your prejudice vs theirs. You don’t determine another person’s group, this isn’t kindergarten where everyone has to play together in the sandbox. You can always get your own sandbox and group of people. The next thing…most rangers are terrible for pve. Bearbow rangers are everywhere, very few seem to use the spotter trait or carry melee weapons. They didn’t kick you for any personal reason, so don’t take it personally- we’ve all been kicked for 1 reason or another and we don’t make tons of topics because someone didn’t want us in their sandbox.
A good thing in GW1 was that when you loaded a template and didn’t have the stuff available you would have holes in your bar where the missing skills were.
I think you could ping a build you didn’t own, it just showed up as a template and didn’t say it was yours. I can’t remember the exact way to tell the difference but I know people have tried to do that here too. Warriors for cof p1 SC would try and show items you couldn’t hover over, like they just wrote out the words in brackets…
Regarding gear check: The ability to do a gear check before starting a dungeon and kicking non-conforming players is certainly not desired.
Gear checking already exists and was used extensively for cof p1 SC. Templates help players organize gear/traits/skills. It does NOT create gear checking. People need to stop saying this. When Anet introduces trait checking and full skill checking, speed runners will have another way to check out potential partners(players could still change their setup…template checks were always to check for competency). I’ve said it before, the people who gear check will still check your gear, the people who don’t still won’t. Is there any real difference between a group asking for “zerk gear” and another group that doesn’t want rangers, necros or engis? One asks players to ping while the other sees your class immediately. Exclusion is exclusion and it’s not your business how others choose to play.
Regarding exclusion in groups: This will likely increase. Anet had previously buffed dungeons and they did it again. I was looking at coe and fotm groups recently and sometimes every listing includes “lfm 80 zerkers, experienced only”. Now I’ve not been asked to actually ping in most of these groups, many people assume the listing keeps noobs out and I think it does(although most newer players have no idea what coe is and can’t enter fotm 30+).
Lots of good feedback here:
- Templates should be flexible on what they contain. Everyone wants something a little different from this feature.
Might as well add as much as possible to appeal to everyone.
- Template switching can be abused in WvW, between dungeon bosses, etc.
People already solo dungeon paths by swapping traits, this won’t change anything.
- Tiered release approach (I feel this feedback is because people want this feature RIGHT MEOW)
YES, get on with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1YmS_VDvMY
- Fear of inspect / gear-checking by others.
Did GW1 speed clears suffer because of templates? Nope. GW2 won’t either. Gear is an essential part of GW2, keep it in the template. If people fear showing others their stuff, they probably aren’t wanted in that group and want others to carry them. The people who gear check will still gear check, the people who don’t still won’t.
You want dps/tank/heal…this game was advertised as not having a trinity. Why are you playing?
No I don’t want that. I didn’t say it or imply it. Your reading comprehension need some improvement.
Please, make the effort of expaaaanding your mind just a little bit beyond the trinity. There are thousands of other roles they could come up with besides tank/heal. Many other games did it before successfully. Stop being stuck in the trinity or nothing mentality.
If you want to be a condescending d—bag then so be it. My point still stands, YOU want specific roles and this game was advertised as NOT having them. And no there are not thousannnnnnddddsssss of roles they could create.
You want pistol thief, rifle warrior, bearbow ranger, decap engi and scepter mesmer.
don’t do any of this for dungeons
ya im sorry ppl who keep trying to blame everything on zerker need to also consider the other variable in the equation..i.e themselves, if zerker is OP why dont you just run it? oh cause you keep dying..enuf said.
I run full zerk on 4 out of my 5 80s and I’m still against this “all in full zerk” logic. I don’t blame the players though, they are min/maxing the game and that is what most of us like in games where you can customize your character. I do blame ANet for making a game with so many flaws on its core design that a party of 5 dps can complete any content. Anything is trivial and loose meaning soon. What’s worse, its a horrible way to present the game to new players, specially if they have previous experience in MMOs.
You want dps/tank/heal…this game was advertised as not having a trinity. Why are you playing?
I’m confused as to why people want the ETOM train gone, it hurts nothing.. if you want to wvwvw go play a real map. I find it funny that there is always a group within this game that wants to force people to play it their way. You’re all the same, bunch of self entitled whiners who think your way is right. GW2 community is terrible, even WoW didn’t have this level of angst and people trying to force everyone to march in a line.
But alas, trains are bad, people should have to be forced to do harder content for lesser rewards and it’s all for the greater good. Why don’t you people take that in and think about a certain type of people you sound like.
Anet are you reading this? Don’t let the toxic weirdos ruin your game. They are a small, vocal group that seems to be driven to force other people to do what they want.
Just make all traits like old skill capture. You don’t need to do dungeons/story, just explore and boss hunt like the 5 new grandmaster traits per profession.
Not this kitten again…
1. Even if you nerf zerk into oblivion something will always be the “meta” and people will look to utilize that.
2. People using the LFG tool or otherwise trying to group with like minded, efficient and experienced players is not “toxic” at all. In fact it is the people who continually whine about this kind of thing that drags the community into the gutter.
3. Regardless as to what some seem to be implying, the fact is that using full glass zerk is more difficult than other approaches and does take more skill.
Now some seem to be under the impression that it should require more skill, well i’m all for that, but I wonder, just who the heck they think they are to be the arbiters of how much skill other people should have in order to use a build type/gear set?
What happens when the difficulty to use zerk is increased by 10% but a few people continue to cry about LFG zerk groups? Let’s increase it some more? How about another 10%? Oh wait, Timmy the lolfacetank still thinks zerk is too easy, let’s make it another 10% harder so he can sleep better at night when using his over9000 too much toughness build. <—-lol
4. 99.99% of the content is faceroll easy with zero meaningful kill timers and/or is able to be done in non zerk gear. The introduction of kill time events like Liadri is done in order to push people out of their comfort zone. Even then such events were a cakewalk in condi gear, as is pretty much everything else.
so true.
ya im sorry ppl who keep trying to blame everything on zerker need to also consider the other variable in the equation..i.e themselves, if zerker is OP why dont you just run it? oh cause you keep dying..enuf said.
^^
Does Anet not understand that releasing things which already exist(perhaps in an altered form) and are difficult to get will only makes people upset? Did they not learn from the light flame armor?
This is obviously a very different dragon, but people will compare this asian style dragon to the r80 euro style one. And they will make their own decisions on preference. They should have just called it something like “chinese new year finisher”…less people might compare the 2…
Because you didn’t give them more money.
I hope Anet loves your ideas and implements them ASAP! Truly wonderful stuff here folks.
Two munch dummb in ear.
Do people not know about WvW?………………………………………………………………………uh…………………………..
I thought i’d post something here, because it’s just ridiculous, I do at least 1 fractal per day since “fractured” (the updated rewards got me interested, one of my goal now is to get every fractal weapons), I completed Fractal Frequenter a long long long LONG time ago, I got thousands and THOUSANDS of useless fractal relics, almost a hundred of pristines, more ascended rings that i can count.
but yeah…
I can hear you asking: “what about your goal? how many fractal skins do you have?”
well2
…………..
yep, that’s right :/ only 2, after spending countless hours doing 38+, it’s pathetic.my question is: Why Anet, Why does the prettiest skins rely on some dumb kitten RNG crap? you have a currency (fractal relics), why not make the skins purchasable with relics? Fractal is your end game content, the progression with the instability is really awesome, but the rewards?? they are completely kittening and off-track…
Well I finally got my 2nd fractal skin today and it was…THE SAME AS THE FIRST. GG Anet. G G.
Yea warriors are only popular because they have high DPS (not highest), but are also a bit more survivable and have banners for support. Plus they are significantly easier to play. Just Hundred Blades everything basically.
^^This. In a dungeon run you’d want 2 eles and 2 thieves using damage modifiers with fiery GS(particularly fiery rush) and a mesmer to speed things up. Since GW2 dungeon pick up groups don’t need precise play but do need to correct poor play, the warrior is a better pick overall.
Mistforged Hero’s weapons can either be purchased directly for tournament tickets or crafted in the Mystic Forge with:
- 1 Hero’s Weapon (100 tournament tickets)
- 1 Gift of Heroes (200 tournament tickets)
- 4 Bottles of Elonian Wine
- 10 Piles of Crystalline Dust
To clarify, we had planned for the cost of Gift of Heroes to be a combination of tickets and badges, but the item will now only cost tickets. Tournament tickets will not expire.
You must realize this is going to exacerbate the stacking situation in WvW further right?
Personal score generally teaches poor behavior. and tactics. “Oh capping/killing gives me so much! I better run off point to cap more and kill people off point so I can be the best.”
The problem begins when noobs notice their personal score more than the actual score. It’d be better to remove personal score and leave ranks in, people attribute experience with ability and listen/learn when they know the person scolding them is better at the game. When you tell noobs to stop going far or defend the point they’re on, they’re more learn from mistakes at the end of matches when they see the ranks. Right now, lots of new players respond with contempt when told to stop messing up. Of course, Anet could just remove both which isn’t a bad idea either.
Oh I’d rather see ANet address some of the balance issues in PvP before they start removing maps from solo queues.
Actually skyhammer itself is already a source of imbalance
5 engis team can beat anything there
That tells you more about the engis than skyhammer.
The problem with staff 1 isn’t staff 1. It’s the clones using staff 1. They have crappy direct damage but apply the conditions, so with bounce it would be the most amazing melee(or ranged, the double bounce lets you hit up to 3 people…) auto-attack. Combine this with the mesmer’s potential for summoning clones and you might as well them spirit ranger redux. Press 1, have tons of adds, apply boons and conditions non-stop…
Blast finisher for all the chaos armor. More damage for the small target(it should stay small, too much ridiculous AOE already in-game) or greater boon ripping.
Developing ascended gear actually has an opportunity cost.
If you’ve ever seen the ascended armor then you know that isn’t true.
It’s a trade for the rank. You’re being compensated with a title that shows seniority which cannot be earned ever again. (I think)
Hopefully it’s a simple toggle in the gear panel: Show PvE/PvP armor.
No, this is the new model. It was the best way Arena Net found to make skins that are:
a) Different from the human cultural armor.
b) Very fast to model.
c) Guaranteed to be popular.
Indeed.
No more screen clutter.
And adding an enemy endurance bar will just make GW2 PvP even more simple than it already is. “Watch the bar. Mash your burst when it’s low. Win.”
The unpredictability of dodges is part of the fun. Having to set up a burst and force your opponent to burn up their evades before initiating it makes for far more interesting gameplay than having a visual cue that tells you you’re free to faceroll away.
Unpredictability and randomness are not good for a game, although it’s usually fun for very casual play. You say it will make GW2 “simple” but good games, professional games are usually “simple”. Chess is a simple game with huge depth and so is poker. Competitive video games are simple in nature too. How these games actually play can be very interesting, they create their own meta.
A while ago I thought of something similar to the OP, a cooldown in dodging. A game I used to play had dodging(with a 3 sec cooldown) and that cooldown was so important. You don’t need a lot of skills and traits for a game to be good, strong mechanics are much more important. Things like feints, movement skills and positioning interacted with that cooldown mechanic to create more depth. Just throwing a bunch of skills, traits and mechanics into a system and making it complex/random isn’t very smart. Having said that, I agree with this:
dodge creates a black hole of counterplay and forces the game to increase the total overall damage needed to kill players. it contributes nothing to the game and is poorly implemented.
I realized rather quickly that a cooldown could never work in a game with so much burst, spam and overall condition damage.
What do you consider an eSport? Does it have to be as popular as LoL? Dota2? SC2? WoW? Does it need X number of players in PvP? Prize pools that are worth $X?
I’ve always thought “e-sport” was a funny term because it makes me think of fat people who can’t walk a mile so they have “e-sports”.
Based on my tests from a long time ago, the “back” is a 180 degree arc behind the target. Flanking attacks are anything except the tiny 90 degree (maybe less) in front of the target. It’s not a thief specific game mechanic.
^^
Hitting the “side” is the side of the back. If you hit someone from the front 180 degrees, it’s the front…
Can you please make Support a meaningful role?
I know lots of people love damage role.
But seriously, I would like Support to be equally as useful in the game now. I dont feel rewarded for playing a good support role anymore.
A good support will augment damage immensely. Guardians stack might, clear all conditions, heal on dodge etc etc, they do lots of stuff and everyone knows this. Mesmers are probably my favorite though with feedback, time warp, portal and pull. The other classes support their teammates as well but in most scenarios we ALL support each other.
My heals are too weak without gearing up, no matter what my traits are.
Water fields are amazing. You heal better than a monk with blast finishers since it’s all AOE.
Also the heals are small in general. the Regen boon is flawed when it comes to multiple people playing Support roles, which will happen in a open world game like this that focus on large group combat.
On my Engineer when I use Med kit, with careful aiming of meds, I want to feel like I actually saved somebody,
But I never get this feeling, only a sense of wasted time, since a typical AoE splash does more damage than all the Med heals combined. Regen is simply never on part with damage to counter it.
and the way Regen stacks, its practically useless to have multiple players play support role. There is no skill in it if all it ever does is stack duration.
So not fun, nor rewarding.
That seems to stem from not having truly distinguished roles. You don’t see yourself adding to the group and that’s partly Anet’s fault and accomplishment: everyone adds to the group. Although we are somewhat pigeonholed with zerker armor…
Also lets not forget how the game doesnt even reward support on events. Damage gets the most rewards. Support gets the least.
Stop this design for once. Its not fun. Make all the roles equal to each other, and useful.
I think Anet had to make a choice. GW1 was an instanced game where drops were distributed to party members randomly so it avoided the “you stole my drops” or the “that was my kill!” issue you see in every other MMO. GW2 is not an instanced game but has mostly removed the fight for drops by giving anyone with damage their own loot. They had to choose: Do we force people to fight for drops as parties or do we give everyone something? Because if dedicated healers were necessary in this game you would need the old party system where 1 group gets drops and no one else does. Otherwise no healer would get anything and the complaints would never stop(support roles do get drops btw, sometimes in large champ trains people don’t get drops and that’s a game code issue).
There should be no restrictions in team arena. In solo arena it’s get a bit ridiculous when 1 team is stacked with necros and engis or warriors and guardians. Can that be modified? yes. Should it? not really. One of the main points people make when discussing OP classes is their popularity. Everyone knows warrior is great and any doubters are hushed by the lopsided matches constantly forming in soloQ.
It’s been mentioned before that Anet keeps tabs on the popularity of classes(IDK if they do or not…), but if there’s a limitation then people may not play broken classes as much and it may take even longer to nerf ridiculous builds. It could even become a part of the meta to say, “see, each team gets their warrior- it’s an aoe-stun-condi cleansing-tank and it’s fair that way!”…
Hello,
First post here, played since pre-launch and spent a fair amount of money in this game (a few hundreds, actually). Anyway, i’m one of the evil players that bought the Flamekissed armor skin. I did it with 800 gems that i bought for 10,00$.
Now it will be removed from the game (or replaced by something i didn’t pay for). If i read correctly, i’ll be able to get a full refund by contacting support. We’re not talking about the 800 gems, but the 10,00$, right? Because i honnestly don’t care about those gems… but i did care about that skin.
My main concern is : will it happen again? It’s actually the first time in my life that i buy something and it’s “replaced” without my concent after my money was taken away from my wallet. As an adult customer, i’m a bit in shock right now. How can i sincerely put any more money in your gemshop, knowing that my purchase might be temporary or that it might change eventually because someone else isn’t happy with it?
What am i supposed to think about all this?
Want the t3 skin? Turn your gems into gold and buy it. Anet made a mistake and they’re rectifying it. If there had been a bug and something was unintentionally released and you bought it then the same thing would have happened. Anet would remove the item and compensate you accordingly.
talk to your credit card company, do a charge back with the claims of fraud. which is exactly what this is Anet advertised one item then turns around and says they are giving you a different one even though you already paid for it.
I work for a credit card company and have seen charge backs for a lot less.
Do this if you want to be banned.
We just finally finished this mistlock with the molten bosses. It was down right ridiculous. To the point of unbelievable.
Took us about 11-12 tries, with 1 person quitting at around try 7.
The amount of perfect co-ordination and luck required by 5 people together is beyond what it should be.
Anet is giving vertical progression players another bone with new mechanics. They’ll enjoy it for about 2 weeks then quit again once they’ve reached rank 50.
The reactor incident happened just BEFORE GW2. The fall of abaddon occured BEFORE GW1. I don’t understand why people confuse these 2 things when Anet clearly stated when each event took place.
Having said that, perhaps evon was supposed to lose no matter what. After all, the voting percentages (52-48 in favor of kiel) never changed once while Anet reported on them. Maybe that will become a new part of the living story as it’s revealed scarlet fixed the election, then we’ll get a proper fall of abaddon fractal…nah that won’t happen.
So what you would do is go back to high ranks vs low ranks? And syncing?
…kormir wasn’t around during the fall of abaddon…
The issue with zerker runs in a loop sort of. Zerker is generally the best for DPS and because it’s the best, everyone has it. Because everyone has it and needs no other armor(it would be a nightmare to hold onto 3-5 sets of armors/weapons for each character), it holds the spot as best armor…you have to have it. If Anet really wanted a game with vastly different boss/dungeon mechanics, they would need to remove stats from armor or allow alterations like legendary weapons.
You’re still not making any sense. You’re like a person who’s mad about the high price of an item when there’s a monopoly. But instead of directing frustration at the monopoly you get mad at the people selling the item.
I don’t mind if anyone is spending their time farming champions… however it shouldn’t force other players to farm those champions aswell. For me, WvW is a lot more enjoyable. I don’t like farming champions. Why should I be forced to farm champions in order to gain gold?
You aren’t. Anet created the requirements for all items. If you want a weapon then you need the materials to craft it. How you obtain those materials is your choice.
Oh crap, posted on wrong game forum again. Forgot we’re all playing Farm Wars 2. Guess the maiority of non-farmers have already left the game or disappeared in the glorious WvW. Nobody takes non-farmers serious. -sniff-
AND i’m only theoretizing, I see a lot of flaws with the idea, but I’m interested how other people would see it, regardless of their being wealthy or not in this game.
Here’s what I don’t understand: Why do you care how people spend their time or how much gold they have?
And:
Now farmers focus on gathering these currencies as fast as they can. The way they do this is often through farming materials. These materials are sold to other players. Here’s where the trouble begins:
i – Through a bigger supply from farmers, the materials in question become close to worthless.
OK so farmers gather materials, sell to market and drop prices.
ii – The developers create ‘processes’ that require huge amounts of said materials, in order to stop the inflation. We can regard ascended crafting and crafting to 500 as such a process. [!]
The inflation of goods right? Lots of goods are farmed meaning prices are low and Anet creates ascended crafting because of lots of goods? No, Anet created ascended crafting to promote vertical progression.
iii – Farmers gain large amounts of gold through selling their goods to others, and because there is so much money on the market, certain items that cannot be farmed (such as legendaries, such as precursors…) become more and more expensive in terms of gold.
You just said in point 1 that the items become close to worthless. Farmers would have to change which items they gathered constantly as they flooded the market and suppressed prices. As for your last sentence…what in the world? Legendaries ARE a farm. Precursors become more expensive as supply doesn’t keep up with demand and people who save gold are always bidding up the price. If anything, you should want more farmers since they’re creating goods, CREATING NEW PRECURSORS.
And this:
This means players who do not farm require more gold, because they too need to buy a huge stockpile of for example ancient wood logs, and they are forced to use the very farms the farmers exploit in order to gain enough gold.
From that point… we have a farmy/grindy game. People need to spend unhealthy amounts of time in order to require certain milestones, and what’s more, they need to spend that time on activities they might not even like (i.e. the farming)!
So your answer is to stop people from doing dungeons, activities they DO like and make them get their own items through…farming everything? Give everyone a legendary? Or do you think Anet is going to introduce a fixed gold system which is going to magically work?
(edited by data.4093)
A lot of the issues regarding 80 content is that it’s not interesting. What do you do in CoE p1-3? Get up close to alpha and kill him. What do you do in CoF p1-3? Get up close to xxxxx boss and kill him. Rinse and repeat.
The creators of the game SEVERELY limited THEMSELVES by creating armor with stats. They wanted to be like other MMOs but unless you are that MMO, you’ll never be it. You want to be like WoW? Make WoW. You want to be everquest? Make everquest. You are guild wars developers, make guild wars.
GW1 PvE was vast and grinding was for looks- yet the CONTENT drove innovation and interesting game play. Anet thought of destroying “the trinity” of gaming but didn’t realize there’s not a lot left without structure.
OP is either really stupid or trolling.
Capitalism failed miserably, and was bailed out by communism.
Alright partner, keep on trolling baby.

- Allow PvE armor in PvP.(maybe a toggle to apply pve armor instead of the generic pvp one)
- Create new, exclusive items obtained in PvP.
Both points are really complements. There is very little customization in PvP right now and with so many people spending time in PvE getting expensive armor, they should be allowed to use them anywhere. Don’t force people to obtain the same armor twice if they like their look, add new skins to PvP so people can modify their existing one if they choose. Also, make new skins trade able so PvP players have a gold reward and initiative to keep playing in addition to rare looks.
Yeah, condinuking shouldn’t have any counter. /sarcasm
yeah, stunning someone with basi venom shouldn’t have any counter. /sarcasm
So…I guess…basilisk venom wasn’t patched in october? Wait why are we talking about bask venom…
Thief engages on me from 2k+ range using signet/sword2/steal with basi venom. He has every boon in the game(plus aegis). I’m stunned, how can I retaliate other than try and run away after using a stunbreaker?
Corrupt boon?
So there’s one possible spell that can counter lyssa runes to a certain extent? But wait, I mistimed it and it was dodged due to 3 spam, kitten I suck.
You’re right. Lyssa runes aren’t an issue, thieves are. Better nerf ’em.
Yeah, condinuking shouldn’t have any counter. /sarcasm

A rune set should never be a replacement for a counter-build. If you’re saying that Lyssa allows you to run a build that is oblivious to condition professions because it acts as a condition counter, then it definitely is overpowered.
I’m saying that Anet is leaving lyssa alone on purpose. Condition pressure is insane right now and lyssa runes are a general counter to condition nuking. The fact that they are so popular shows how overpowered conditions are, not how overpowered a condition cleanse is.
Want a better GW2? Cast bars, unique/transparent animations and few to 0 instant casts. No one is going to watch a game if they can’t tell what’s going on. People playing that same game will get frustrated time and time again by things they can’t see or counter intelligently.
Yeah, condinuking shouldn’t have any counter. /sarcasm
