Just got done with a teq on fort aspenwood- not a small server but only 20 people showed up.
When we actually had people trying it was hard to get in, once the event started connections began lagging and people dc’ed(every.single.time.). Then if you got back in with your party you still failed. Now no one does it. GG. It’s not like the rewards are worth the frustration, the best you can get is an account bound ascended weapon with crappy stats. But you’re not going to get it anyway.
You’re complaining about stealth stomping…really? Not invulnerable, stability or any of the other types- just stealth? Play more.
How is Anet supposed fix DCs during a match? The only thing they can fix is people leaving before a match. Do you want a match to end at a draw because someone DC’ed?
These aren’t perfect:
1. Send match invites to more than 10 people, first 10 get in, others stay in the queue.
2. Send boxes asking “are you still here?” every few minutes. Otherwise you get kicked from the queue.
3. If enough people start playing then queuing could be modified to something like GW1 random arena.
Fixing 4v5s/leavers:
1. Don’t start matches with only 4 players on a team, send them back to the mists.
2. Add another item to win/loss- “forced exit” or “abandonment”. If a player leaves a match they get 1 point added to their forced exit score. It negatively impacts your win/loss ratio and is shown on the rankings.
3. Modify dishonorable- don’t give stacks that only work at 5. Punish the person immediately and let it scale up. For example: 1 stack gives 10 minutes, 2 gives 1 hour, 3 gives 5 hours, 4 gives 1 day, the 5th gives 3 days.
None of the repliers have used stealth against a mesmer or really any channeled/AI ability.
What do you guys think? A hotjoin hero is someone who just goes around 1v1 people and says screw the team, look at my high glory numbers.
Your description is a contradiction. The ones running around trying to 1v1 usually have a low score while the ones running with the zerg have a high one due to capping/decapping and killing other zergs. Many times you’ll see thieves near the bottom and warriors near the top due to one being a roamer and the other a team player.
…and put it on TP.
Why the hell are the teq weapons account bound? Dam anet, you guys keep dropping the ball and then kick it every time you go to pick it up.
So people who want it will have to participate in the event…otherwise people won’t come in the numbers needed to defeat T’quatl. They’ll wait for others to do it and just buy the thing.
Want the weapon? Do the content. It’s not a mistake on their part.
So if I get a pistol as a warrior or a GS as a thief then…GG? Your thought process really is horrible and Anet is dropping the ball in many ways over and over.
Lol I like that youtube video because the last guy basically describes 80 % of what Anet does with their content.
Holy crap.

This right is here Living World content…. lmao.
ahahahahaha he won too!
Why the hell are the teq weapons account bound? Dam anet, you guys keep dropping the ball and then kick it every time you go to pick it up.
my problem tho is that now the meta is filled with builds that are hybrids and can sustain for themselves. Everyone is running more of a 1v1 build than playing a role. I want heavy burst builds and heavy bunker builds to both be viable
Being able to sustain oneself is better than depending on your/another’s role, especially in a solo join.
Teq will become Jormag v2. Several phases, AOE that comes in waves, required weapons to bring down shield, lots of health etc. Eventually everyone will find a universal safe spot where the zerg stacks and others will protect the golems…i mean cannons.
There is 1 major oversight on Anets part that may result in big complaints. For jormag there are tons of people attacking the shield and anyone can pick up a gun. On teq there are only 6 powerful cannons, if a small group of people start trolling then that’s it, teq will fail. There’s too much dependence on the cannons right now and in the next few days, weeks or months someone will probably decide to screw over teq.
Option to remove down-state or reduce HP while downed please.
I don’t know people like you think Arenanet is going to introduce an option to bypass a major mechanic of the game, it is almost like the ones suggesting it don’t live in the real world.
You know how they do it? By making you dead when your health reaches 0. People can say “it promotes skill” or “the game is balanced around it”/“it’s a major mechanic” all they want but when a character simply adds that downed state to their health pool(like ranger underwater or engi elixir) you guys look stupid. It’s terribly overpowered on some classes and so weak on others and yet players think it’s there to promote a better and balanced game? Haha there is no balance.
You don’t need full ascended to experience content in this game. Rares can work well for you and you can get a whole lvl 80 rare set in under 5g.
I never said anything about experiencing content, although farming content required zerker gear in exotic/ascended. Fractals require ascended gear to advance and Anet will release more challenging stuff in the future requiring good gear to play. And you’ll be required to bring zerker stats.
Option to remove down-state or reduce HP while downed please.
The funny thing is this could actually create a more interesting, experimental game. Not just “need more zerk gear”. Anet could actually create vastly different bosses requiring different styles of play…just like that game…what was it called? Oh yeah guild wars.
GW1 armor was more narrow in stats(akin to sPvP armor) and was easy to obtain. This made gearing alts and play style diversity possible and necessary. But how many of you have 3+ characters you’re going to give multiple sets of ascended weapons to? What about ascended armor? Even full sets of asc trinkets isn’t that easy.
Older games got around this “1 set of max gear per character” rather easily- the gear was simple. Weapons gave power/mana/intelligence/magic or whatever and armor gave armor. There’s no issue for gear when it’s straightforward. But creating a game like GW2 and making it time consuming to get max stats with so many gear options inevitably limits those options and the entire PvE game.
At this point I actually want them to break stealth so they can’t avoid noticing how limited the other options are anymore.
Was kind of thinking the same thing. People are always moaning about stealth but they don’t consider the alternatives. They think if stealth is nerfed across the board then survivability and utility are buffed it’ll work out? lol ok.
Why didn’t Anet just bring random arena to GW2 in the first place? -_-
How many people used to just sit there and chat? How many noobs learned game mechanics instead of just “zerg more”? Hotjoin is an enemy of this game. So many times players just ignore fighting and cap for points or zerg on 1 point and try to farm noobs which leads to the losing team having monster scores(always play for points not winning). It’s awful gameplay that doesn’t reflect how the game works.
Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. They fit their theme, not your tastes.
I skimmed through the thread so I don’t know if it’s been stated: the next “treadmill” will likely be infusions. Right now we have basic and fine, eventually they’ll probably release masterwork/rare and they’ll be hard to make(fine infusions are already expensive). It’s easy for Anet to do this and doesn’t upset the game as a level increase or new tier would.
The thief trait lines are pretty good. All of them have their place even if some traits are lackluster. The good traits are necessary though since many thief skills go unused.
…Improvisation isn’t that bad. 3 skill types is a 60% chance and doesn’t it work with whirling axe? I think more would like it if Anet moved it into trickery and swapped it with flanking strikes or something.
get sleight of hand.
steal on target when stunned.
???
profit.
(bonus points for rupting 100b)
There’s 6(?) dragons and we’ve only fought 1. They’ve put a lot of time into living story and a new enemy(scarlet) when they’ve already got a story and 5 more dragons. Then again if it’s like zhaitan then do not want. I want to hit them with my sword dammit!
Today at PAX there was made reference to the fact that in GW2 if more PvP modes are created they fear that the player base will be spread too thin.
It’s circular logic baby! “If I take a risk then I may lose but if I don’t take that risk I might lose less!” This logic was easy to see coming after the soloQ/teamQ split. Anet saw that teamQ died(threads about enormous wait times) while soloQ is still alive. Before the split the soloQers were essentially keeping the teamQ alive.
In the end, no risk will mean no reward- stagnation will not breed an interest in PvP for the broader community.
What if they got fired?
Don’t worry guys, Anet is making sure this game will be like every other korean MMO. You get 1 character at max level and 1 set of gear. Then you never play a 2nd character unless you buy a 2nd account. Guild Wars 1 be dammed.
I am going crazy. I keep forgetting about dodging. How to learn it? I set my dodge keybind to mouse 5 so it should be pretty easy but it isn’t. It is so hard for me to adapt to this pvp system without cast bars and so many instant skills. How to improve?
If you play a few hundred games you’ll get better. You should also play other classes than your own to understand their mechanics. And you can observe people in pvp matches through spectator mode.
This game has an enormous skill curve due to many factors and the best players can have 6k matches under their belt even though the game is 1 year old. So don’t expect much in the beginning.
I just log when this happens, no point in playing. Keep reporting it though, maybe Anet decided to save money on bandwidth or something thinking no one would notice…
Remember when you could get max gear and customize all your characters? Guild Wars 1 remembers.
The problem with cast bars, is that they’ll either clutter the screen with bars, or they’ll only be visible when you have someone targetted, which means any untargetted asura who pops out of nowhere from the mess to kill you will remain as unnoticeable with cast bars as he would without them.
The best solution is to normalize the models.
Create cast bars, more obvious/unique animations and adjust skill time. More like guild wars.
(edited by data.4093)
The skills should be redone for pvp and players should start with less health. That is unless Anet would kindly remove it. Down state alone is responsible for making the game rather crappy in 2v1/3v1. “I got one…nvm he’s back up…gg”. Other games are more enjoyable in outnumbered situations, GW2 favors bad play immensely.
Fluctuations in the gold/gem exchange rate are not inflation.
The big spike in the exchange rate occurred when A.Net announced the daily sales last week, not when the Queen’s Jubilee patch went live.
This is not inflation. Everyone is buying gems to buy the limited time items (eg. everlasting mining pick) that are returning to the gem store. The price increase for gold -> gems reflects the increased demand, not inflation.
Go play Diablo 3 and you’ll see what inflation is.
As it’s been said, it’s not inflation. On this point Anet has done an excellent job of shooting several birds. If you want to see what happened to diablo 3, here’s an article:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-05-21/diablo-3-case-virtual-hyperinflation
The article is missing it’s format/pictures so it may seem a bit long winded.
Wow this is getting way too long. It’s more like 6 pages but everyone’s got a long post. Those arguing against farming: If someone wants to hack and slash for loot, let them. Everyone doesn’t have to play a game your way, there is nothing wrong with farming(it’s actually good, without farmers many items would be out of reach. farmers increase the amount of mats/skins).
As for a better event loot system: Allow the meta event chains(gates of arah as a great example) to scale in difficulty and reward. For Arah: There are 5 events which produce tons of mobs. Let the first 3 events scale but be faster and produce fewer champs while the 2 final events can be very difficult and produce larger rewards and champs. Anet’s approach was to nerf ember without providing an incentive to keep going. You can’t keep changing single variables and expect to fix everything. Players discover the next best thing and keep going.
Ahaha ITT: people thinking Anet needs money after selling millions of games at $60 each. Even if Anet made $20 per game that would still be $60 million for 3 million sold. Did Anet need our money after people bought GW1? No, they made a good game and players kept buying the new campaigns.
Spend money as you want but don’t tell me:
Also, since this game is premised on the model that the few are supporting the game for the many, I think the few should get more non-game changing perks than they do. (like unlimited use skins)
We all bought the game. We all support Anet.
OP be trolling yo.
Are you sure gangsta? Does he have street cred yo yo?
Honestly, individuals will complain about anything they can, just read the forums for five minutes and you will see a large amount of this.
OP is gangsta troll. He got promoted to street alley from the bridge. Now he uses dat why-fie to global troll yo.
Either way the thread isn’t going to be constructive to Anet.
Seems like every time I venture into SPVP lately, the matches are just really unbalanced. Either I’m getting blown away by other team, or my team is the one doing the stomping. Either way, there appears to be a huge discrepancy between the skill levels of the players.
I’ve been noticing this too. Better players stack 1 team over and over to get tons of points. If you start a new match you might notice red team won and already has 1 more player then someone joins blue and another immediately joins red. This repeats until all high ranks are red. It can be challenging and fun sometimes but mostly it devolves into a zergfest with condis everywhere. Although hotjoin usually turns into that anyway…
This isn’t the game for you OP.
OP be trolling yo.
I was actually thinking about the drop rates, but now that you mention it…
Thieves are the most overpowered class out of any game in the history of mmos/rpgs/mmorpgs. Please nerf as you do with every patch.
You haven’t played enough MMOs. Truly OP classes get played by everyone. In sPvP most thieves are the easiest kill…
Ok, now which is it? I have 3 different people saying that fun means 3 different things. This is what I meant when I said fun is subjective.
To some people, it’s fun to knock people off the edge of skyhammer. To others, it’s fun to be matched up against equally skilled players. To even more, it’s fun to feel like you’re great at the class you play.
Sometimes on skyhammer I just wait at point C or A looking around the corner with banish ready. And I like players who are better than me since it allows me to become better at my class.
So imagine what would happen. Everyone would focus a target that they know can’t get away and just burst them down in milliseconds. Thieves and mesmers would probably be the last classes standing due to stealth.
In gw1 there was supporting skills, so focusing a target while ignoring other enemies who buff and heal would be counter productive. Again in gw2, no such thing. Most fights would be cc spam and burst damage, followed by tons of complaints on how bad gw2 pvp is (which is true).
Your mind is stuck in a tunnel. You’re viewing death match from a conquest perspective. Players don’t run the same thing for death match and conquest. There’s a completely different objective in DM- kill players and score points(maybe secondary objectives/small buffs) as opposed to CQ where you’re always racing the clock and nodes. Smaller fights would probably be added(3v3 or maybe 4v4) and different style maps would be added. That’s not to say that everything would be perfect but don’t look at it as “if we change this then that will happen” because the meta changes with the circumstance, not the other way around.
If you’re thinking an 8v8 hotjoin DM is bad then just look at 8v8 conquest. It’s already a mess and becomes deathmatch a lot of times. People still play it and enjoy themselves.
So, meta data, would be the data within the data.
I actually have that name saved.
Everyone’s going to be bummin as Anet brings back weapon skins next week. :\
1v1 balance will not be achieved, it does not exist. You can all cry “imbalanced” a million times when you lose but a lot of times it’s due to the other person getting the jump on you, knowing the fight more than you(this was a HUGE part of GW1), having a well-equipped build or they were just better overall than you. Should Anet work on major imbalances? Yes of course. But there are other things that need work in pvp too like cast bars or distinct animations.
As for team fight pvp, what is balance? There are only 5 players on a team and 8 classes so what is this mythical “balance”? Both teams using the same composition?…
Anet created a “gear grind” dungeon. It’s not really about skill. If you want 1 RNG skin out of 19, what are your chances of getting it? It’s a lottery to keep people playing for the skin they want- grinding and gambling not skill.
GW2 was originally all about innovation and making a world that was alive. Dynamic events, hearts, jumping puzzles, massive story and lore, fast paced combat, etc…
Since then the game seems to have taken a 180. Now everything is a copy of something else.
First we started with time gating and gear progression similar to WoW.
Next we went on some weird hunger games kick where all the content was pretty much a straight copy from the books… (not an MMO copy but still odd)
Now we are introducing a watered down, cheap zerg making version of rifts from Rift.
Is this a trend that is going to continue? I originally bought the game because it wasn’t like those other MMO’s, but now it seems to be trying to copy everything it can from them. Are we going to start seeing raids? is the trinity going to start being worked in?
I love GW2, but this trend is worrying.
They want to have their cake and eat it too- they want to appease grindwh0res/casuals/pvp-centric players. On these forums WoW, rift, SWTOR are the comparisons people draw against GW2, not GW1. Anet sees “when are we getting raids?” “rift has….” “going back to swtor because…”
Many games come from overseas and the western forums don’t really impact anything. These forums are different- devs watch them. Complaints can be taken too seriously and Anet responds swiftly, sometimes in an overzealous manner(1 thread got lemongrass/melandru combo_nerfed). Another factor is population and how GW2 lost players after a few months. It is not Anet’s fault that people buy on hype then lose interest, this always happens. I’ve seen games go to 14-15 servers then have to condense to 3 because people leave.
In terms of “copying” content I really don’t know. Anet could be taking cues from the forums, other games or it could simply be the climate of the times. No one has a monopoly on an idea.
I would happily pay outright for weapon skins but have no interest in dealing with the variable and unknown price the RNG boxes create. Why would you do this in the face of overwhelming feedback that we don’t like RNG boxes? We are not the Asian market. Cultural differences do exist.
I’m trying to find ways to give you money but you make it really hard.
Buy gems and convert gems to gold then buy the skin from the TP. That’s the only way.
Have you ever played wvw when zergs collide? It’s like that.
dat warhorn. i am literally crying with laughter right now. its just too much.
