Maybe 2 thousand posts? Anyway this is a great thread, some of the posts got me laughing so hard I could pee my pants.
I like how people say “just use AOE on them” like they have super low health or everyone has ice bow/meteor storm. Another thing to note: many engis just spread the turrets around a point and sometimes they place the rocket turret in the air above the point(they do this a lot on spirit watch A/C). So now rocket turret can be even better because hell yeah Anet balance baby!
This isn’t just steal, but steal is probably the one you’d notice it on the most since it’s used so often. All teleports seem to be suffering from this. On twitch the mesmer helseth tried to use portal but after he’d teleport to other side, it’d send him back to his starting location. He flipped out because this happened every time he tried to go through and portal cannot send you back and forth so quickly no matter how fast you press the F key. Soooooo it appears Anet broke 2 classes…
People always complained that stealth was overpowered or broken. And the S/D thief is a ridiculous dodge machine, but what’s the most nerfed thief weapon? Shortbow.
Nice necro btw.
Not arguing whether stealth in Gw2 is balanced or not, but in every single online video game I’ve ever played that had a stealth function, it’s almost everybody’s favorite thing to complain about.
That’s what I’m saying. Stealth and evades are called powerful but Anet looks at shortbow and breaks it. Who complained about shortbow? These threads must have been invisible. Perma-stealth/evade thieves have been nerfed here and there but shortbow had everything nerfed. SB1 lost it’s targeting, SB2 lost it’s range, SB3 is broken now, SB4 lost duration, SB5 no longer teleports as it used to(although this affected all teleports I think).

No, the pvp side won’t have a serious or professional following.
While I’m not firmly in either camp one way or the other, I’m starting to think some people are really pampered in this game. Just had someone complain that running to the ley line hub in dry top was a “long way to walk”. It’s not even 1 minute. -_-
Happens all the time. I think it depends on how long you’re locked onto something, never happens immediately after clicking an enemy.
One thing I wondered is why Anet didn’t use the stuff they already had: Asura gates. They are a nice tool which made sense and replicated a really popular tv show…(anet has some sg-1 fans). WPs generally make very little sense because you go from any point to any point(can you imagine the trouble of catching a murderer or thief? they’d commit the crime then * poof *, good luck guessing their location…bands of criminals should be ruining everyone’s day) but if there were several asura gates in each map, it would make sense and not impact gameplay very much. The system would involve running into an asura gate and transporting to any other one in the network that’s available. There’s also the in-game option of transporting yourself to pre-defined areas(like the mists) but just going from any place on the map to any other place didn’t make much sense when I started playing.
The issue is, there are already tons of WPs and getting anywhere is so easy. People don’t like to lose ease of play or mobility. The only thing I’d see happening is less/no WPs in new maps like dry top except they’ve already stuck several in the zone(there are WPs in dry top but people are isolated there? wut?). Now I’m not saying that removing WPs is a good/bad thing because honestly, I can’t tell how it would impact the game overall. The sheer number of them can remove that mmo “world” feel. Entire sections of maps can become worthless and are never seen again. Look at the new dry top- there are 2 WPs, 1 on either side of uplands oasis and after getting the western one it’s like the area doesn’t exist.
Now southsun cove is an example of a map with fewer WPs. They are at the camps and become contested when there’s fighting there. Southsun isn’t used a ton for farming/champ trains/dungeons but during karka queen it isn’t uncommon to see loads of people running to the spawn. I remember one time the servers were resetting for an update or something like that and WPs couldn’t be used(you’d be kicked from the instance) so the entire zerg ran to the spawn, it didn’t take very long for everyone to get there. Players didn’t have an issue getting rewards even if they were downed or died, people ressed. So maps can work with fewer WPs and bosses don’t take “soooo loooong” without teleporting everywhere. If something like this happened to all the maps it would change gameplay a little but overall who knows? I just don’t know the answer and my thoughts are all jumbled on any true impact whether positive or negative.
I’ve never seen someone get kicked from their own group, lol. Don’t worry about it though since it’s so rare and there’s no penalty for making a new group.
I think what OP wants is more activity in maps. Older MMOs forced you to run from a large city or town to get to an area(even in GW1 you’d have to start in a town and some areas forced a very long stretch of running like the drok’s run). WPs just take you directly from A to B, anywhere you want to go. You almost never see a character running through a map unless they’re going for completion and most people aren’t doing that anymore. The idea of immersion is totally lost when you just teleport everywhere and there’s very little feel that anyone is out there. Another thing people sometimes realize is how nice this game looks but since we don’t see most of it after completing a map, it’s lost on us.
Now the game is set up to limit WPs in a minor way when an event is active, but because they are all so close it makes no difference. When you die at teq you just use one of the 2 WPs that are close and you’re back fighting again.
lol…this is a great thread.
I reactivated the story to see this instance again but it restarted from the beginning. Now I’m wishing for a deactivation button on the LS…
Anet should never ever bring back the condinuking, aoe spamming nonsense. Necro is viable in spvp, just because you can’t spray condis everywhere and hope for the best doesn’t mean necro is dead at all. These kinds of threads are what got necro buffed to insanity in the first place, it was a horrible time in spvp.
Your rudeness is uncalled for…
There is a problem with the necromancer, but it is not the damage – I have stated that in some posts before…
It is the Necromancers sustain scaling badly in a teamfight – their one defensive ability (DS) is horrible to peform well in a fight over 3 people…
Their damage is fine, their placement is not… There is a difference…
Text doesn’t have emotion or tone. You’re assuming I’m trying to be rude. And I never quoted anyone, my post was directed to those asking for the ability to spam more condis- not your post.
Eventually GW2 won’t be in beta anymore and more good stuff from GW1 will be here.
Spectator mode is staying. As for people sitting in it during a match, idk it’s weird. This didn’t happen much before the pvp reward change did it? That would mean pve players trying to get rewards are just being lazy. The old hotjoin had no PvE rewards so people would just join a match and pick a side then try to farm for points…which was probably even worse than new players trying to stack a winning team.

FA commanders are the most famous in the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5YKXyrJhGM
Bring your guild to FA and enjoy the fun.(that commander isn’t usually so intense but he’s always fun to run with)
If all of you go it’s going to end very quickly. -_-
Silence is one thing they aren’t getting regarding mesmers, so that’s not a problem. Do you want them to fix existing bugs and major problems, or screwing up a skill that works decently? I suppose if you want more things of ours broken and messed with, by all means keep complaining about AT. Just saying, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Address real problems first.
Yeah it’s not broken but it sees no play as well. The skill is just inferior to other options in the game, changing it a little shouldn’t break it(it’s a condi/boon transfer) but give mesmers direct counterplay to boon/condi spam. It’s not that the skill doesn’t do this already but with all the evades/blinds/teleports/invulnerabilities/stuns it makes it less reliable than other condition removal.
No, we raise hell until they sit down and fix EVERYTHING and make this FUN again. It’s our turn.
Ah you’ve said it now…“our turn”. This is sort of what the game has boiled down to, Anet gets a ton of complaints and starts fixing things. Then they go overboard and start making classes OP, like when necros/warriors got buffed. Anet will fix certain bugs rather quickly like confounding suggestions, they claimed it was causing too many stuns and now no one uses it. On the other hand, worthless things don’t get proper care to become viable(see the mesmer bug thread).
A long time ago people complained about how horrific this map was to fight on so Anet removed it from the teamQ rotation. Instead of doing the same thing for soloQ they added it and have watched as threads like these pop up all the time. Not only this but some people will actually afk or leave a skyhammer match because they despise it so much.
- Instant cast, dont have to be facing target and cant be obstructed.
I’ve thought it should work like corrupt boon. Unblockable, instant cast, can be used any direction. I don’t like the obstructed part though, at least let it have some ability to miss besides evade. If Anet did this the skill might see greater use and it’d allow greater counter play to boon/condi spamming classes since mesmers would punish them reliably.
Please post the full context of screenshots, that’s obviously with 25 might stacks and berserker. But other people will think 2/0/0/6/6 does that as soon as a fight initiates.
My last paragraph tells you this isn’t 2/0/0/6/6, I said it’s not the only problem and nerfing it won’t remove s/d from the meta(maybe high level pvp, idk). You’re right though, the SS are from a signet build using 15-20 might stacks.
I’m interested in how the next ToL turns out. I expect to see mesmers rarely played, and those teams that do, will do poorly against teams with thieves.
Teams with mesmers will probably still do good in ToL, portal is the reason for bringing one.
Wait, this is bad matchup for mesmer? As a thief player, a zerker shatter mesmer is one of the scariest things for me to fight.
Maybe the old sword/x shatter which sometimes ran mirror images. Against that it becomes a game of who bursts who first.
As for those believing the 2/0/0/6/6 build is the only problem, take a look at these SS. S/D thief will still be around if Anet nerfs that build, they’ve been “nerfing” s/d since they redid the 3 skill and it’s still good.
I used to ask people to hit ready so we could save a minute of our lives. There is only 1 time it actually worked. Anet could just reduce the timer in soloQ, I don’t really enjoy waiting 5 minutes for a match then waiting another 1.5 once inside. It’s like going to the doctor’s office, you wait outside then go in the room to wait some more…
Remember when Anet created a fractal weapon container and claimed it was in the game? And then the weapon box wasn’t added to the loot tables? gw2wiki remembers: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractal_Gear_Box
The answer has been here for a long time.
I started lagging badly today but my connection is fine for everything else. Others in PvP and now WvW are saying the same thing. I know Anet had major issues in the past but I can’t remember lag like this in months.
p.s. And on the new living story, i have buyed GW2 no SUPER MARIO BROS! More dungeon less jumping.
I got a good laugh from this. Best post of the week.
The business model is not pay to play, it’s based on micro transactions, which is, selling gems to buy in game content thus making the money needed.
I bought this game, it wasn’t free…
You want to know how you get a company to release more expansions? You don’t give them money for a skin, that encourages the sale of more skins through the gem store. Companies aren’t going to stop you from giving them money for minimal effort.
It used to be that a company had to make a good game then sell expansions in order to make more money. But when people throw cash at them for nothing it only encourages more of nothing to occur.
So after being annoyed by this thing for a while I’ve started using it. Hitting 2k crits on thieves(lol) and watching it tank chieftain is just too funny. Everyone should run this rune. If nothing else, it’ll grab Anet’s attention because so many are already running it in soloQ.
This bird is annoying as kitten.
Make it leap like guardians or warriors. Or make it behave similar to illusionary swordsman- it leaps and evades while leaping. Or just make it akin to infiltrator’s strike…
Wow the price has plummeted, that is insane!
Whew, glad I didn’t have any on TP!
Check out the rage runes. They shot up like crazy right as the strength runes were nerfed.
I’m wondering if gold sellers have increased their business recently. The mass bans in the past removed bots for a long time, but since the hacked account stuff started the rate has kept rising. Are people just buying gold from botters then converting it into gems? That would certainly keep the gold/gem rate climbing artificially.
The whole fight is built around broken mechanics. It’s silly.
I defeated liadri in the first jubilee and it took many tries but I won my mini. When she came back and I wasn’t doing anything in the pavilion I just looked at my traits, selected things I thought might be good and went in using p/d(what I used the first time) and zerk or solder’s armor(can’t remember). It only took me 2 tries because the broken mechanics like the hard to see red rings were fixed.
No.
Sagar is pretty cool guy. eh plays bingo and doesn’t afraid of stacking.
Sorry thiefy but even though you hit 26k backstab and 4k with air sigil on a downed body, the ranger beat you. No contest.
I hope liewec is joking…It’s hotjoin which is the most casual format possible. Spectator is fine, players actually like it and it took forever to get it. Team select is bad? No. Anet can take away team select if they want but as I’ve said, it’s hotjoin and most games let you pick your team in these casual matches. No team select makes it harder for people to casually play with friends. 8v8 was just terribad.
Gotta get those totem axes
just lol.
Why no hard mode dungeons? :\ Throwing some ideas out there and reiterating things already posted:
Introduce instances with no waypoints. Either create hard mode dungeons with no waypoints(requiring restart/res orb) or bring elite areas into the game with no WP.
The mechanics of hard mode already exist. Ideas can be pulled from here… http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hard_mode. Increase mob level to cause more glancing blows, change attack patterns, mobs hit harder and more CC. Introduce more variety like PBAoE mobs with teleports/stealth, mobs with stealth/spike damage(little mossmen), different possible spawn locations, stealth traps etc.
An idea for new instances or hard mode: The entire dungeon becomes explorable at once. To use CoE as an example: you’ll do all of the generic content(mark golem, alpha in the beginning, etc) but you won’t have to repeat these things every path. Instead, the paths are merged into decisions: When you kill mark you’ll be offered 2 choices, blow up the door(p2,p3) or hack(p1) then fight alpha once more. The next phase would be the 3 sub-bosses(destroyer, husk, bjarl) in your desired order. Then the final alpha fight would occur with him having new mechanics based on the other bosses. Dungeons like cof with several entrances would just open all gates, let you pick a starter path then link to other parts after finishing certain areas. In essence, create dungeons that are more explorable with different possible experiences. Anet probably won’t do this as it would require restructuring, but I’d like to see dungeons(or elite areas) with less restriction.
All hard mode dungeons should require lvl 80, completion of normal mode paths and introduce new title(dungeon grandmaster?). Each HM path should have a daily chest, give the normal mode daily(if not completed yet) and a standard reward. HM daily chest and completion should be better than NM rewards. Consider introducing ascended versions of dungeon armor/weapons and distinguishing them from their exotic counterparts. Just for example: the fire on cof armor glows a different color than exotic(blue instead of yellow) or a dye channel lets players decide. AC armor could gain a faint blue hue at night like the AC weapons.
In the end, the game becomes dull when you can’t fail. And while a casual oriented game is what Anet went for, there’s no reason harder content can’t exist too.
Why isn’t there a hard mode for dungeons or larger party dungeons? We had the unwaking waters and nahpui quarter missions in GW factions where 2 groups played together, so neither idea is new to Anet. As for urgoz/deep, they were long if you did everything but pretty short for the speed clear groups(sub 7 min).
The gem for gold exchange is represented as a self-regulating economic system. If the amount of gold needed to purchase gems is increasing, that means that more players want to pay gold to get gems than want to pay gems to get gold.
The OP proposes imposing an external control. This system would benefits players who wish to convert gold to gems by capping their max cost regardless of supply and demand. It would also work to the detriment of those who want to convert gems to gold by capping their potential gain, again regardless of supply and demand. This proposal is inherently unfair — and I say this as someone who has no interest in buying gems to exchange for gold.
Another solution might be for ANet to provide more things for players to spend gold on. This could entice more players who have discretionary income and who don’t have time to farm to buy gems to get said gold. The downside to this idea is that a portion of the player-base already thinks there are too many things to buy with gold.
So, gift the game to people who don’t have a lot of time, but do make a lot of money?
I’m not going to read the whole thread because it essentially ended here. When prices go up, people start to believe they won’t stop going up and then start a buying spree which further pushes the price up. In an economy, the solution to higher prices is higher prices(sounds like a paradox I know). When oil goes up in price and sits there a while, electric cars suddenly become viable. When metals get into a bubble, more mining and production comes online which pushes the price down. All markets have this tendancy. Now I will say that GW2 is not necessarily a perfect comparison because of the gold bots.

I don’t understand what there is to gain here. They take the middle node and then wait for the match to finish? People could get a lot of points with the old system on skyhammer but I’m not seeing the benefits of this. Wouldn’t solo/teamQ give much more rank and be more enjoyable?
Either way, I hope Anet sees that nice rewards shouldn’t be given to players when we control the circumstances. If anything new is introduced(tourney rewards? pvp rewards weapons?) they’ll keep it on a leash using measures like dishonorable and the controlled environments of tpvp.
Since magg now stands WAY back during the bomb phase in cof p2, he can bug and not begin the lava part at all.
Yeah I just did two more runs with a different group and no issues there.
I think Anet messed with the champ icebrood in the beginning of coe. I don’t remember him having 2 different 1-shot skills…I know the ice attack could sometimes wipe a party but was there always an “earthquake” style one too? It looks like the ground is all cracked and hits like a truck with NO tell. He just ran up to us when we were stacked and wiped most of us without any indication of an attack. I just don’t remember anything like that happening before patch(he wiped us twice).
So now every time we waypoint to an area where any events are occurring, our gold is taken, but we don’t go there. We go somewhere we did not want to go.
This is worse than having most of the waypoints show uncontested, even when they aren’t.
I’m concerned that a lot of players will look at this as simple robbery?
Sir, if you said this in a discussion upon which I was present, I would flip you off.
Can we get a response from Anet on this issue? I’d really like to understand the reasoning behind making some items un-salvageable especially without telling people beforehand. Although they probably don’t want to respond and players will easily provide a solution(if we didn’t already).
