Cantha was based off real countries, so someone in those countries is going to be upset with the representation. You can’t please everyone. Tyria isn’t based off any particular real world continent or country, so no one really has a problem. Anet could bring back Cantha/Elona, changing it over the last 250 years to where it doesn’t represent certain countries. More likely is we’ll get a new continent though. There’s a world map with other island chains and continents.
It makes no sense though. They could have used their available factions/nightfall properties to create new games, increase revenue and retain/increase the player base instead of 0 expansions for 3 years. I think that if it’s taken them 3 years to release a small expansion then there are other issues. Has Anet ever said they’re so afraid of over-sensitive xenophobes before? Or is this just a community rumor?
Ultimately, those rumors may go back to one certain person at NCSoft who thought it was not okay to have an asian themed area in a western game. We don’t know.
It is hard to follow such mind sets since Asians have a vastly different view – well, mostly the older generation – the generation who is in authority.
Yeah but mindsets don’t matter much to investors. Remember that GW was really 3 games and 1 expansion. Right now we have the first game, there are 2 more games Anet could release, both have an audience and a good story/concept to build upon. GW2 is the fastest selling MMO ever and has sold over 7 million copies, so add 2 more games and…why aren’t these being worked on? I don’t know how the accounting would work out and how much more ncsoft would profit but it doesn’t seem reasonable(from a western perspective) to ignore so much revenue.
When GW was first released, it did quite well in SE Asia. However NCSOFT relatively recently wanted to push into mainland China and it’s possible that they saw the mishmash of China/Korea/Japan architecture as problematic due to WWII occupation by Japan which will be a sensitive subject seemingly until the sun burns out.
If NCsoft doesn’t release cantha because they’re afraid of some xenophobic chinese then they really need to grow some balls(shareholders might throw a fit if they knew Anet could sell 2 more games to an audience of millions). And if the chinese refuse to buy it doesn’t matter, all of the other regions will buy a lot(this is assuming cantha is good like factions).
BD needs a fix. I’m pretty sure it’s just an outright bug.
It isn’t a bug. I haven’t tested all the AoE blinds available but I know several blinds go through evade. If they overhaul blinding dissipation they need to fix other blinds too. Part of the problem with the forums is that many of you are focused in the wrong direction, 1 thing gets spread around as truth and everyone latches onto it. You shouldn’t be complaining that it can’t be blocked or dodged, it’s the frequency of the blinds that is important. Another issue is that mesmers never had this powerful trait in the past, it’s something new to complain about. People aren’t screaming about thief blinds being undodgeable, thief always had good blind uptime so no one seems to notice.
As a side note why would you want to block the blind on shatter over the shatter itself? If a mesmer goes for f1/f2/f3 I’d much rather block the incoming shatter/clones than the blind. The only time you want to block the blind is if you’re using a skill that blocks for X seconds instead of X attacks.
It doesn’t matter and never has … but as we know, there are people that will still push their agenda on max DPS only when teaming.
It does matter if everyone is in cleric’s gear but discussing the meta when everyone is zerk is pointless. In the past, not having zerkers could get your party wiped in easy dungeons like cof p1 but the game has been around for so long and the paths are so easy that everyone has zerk and knows what to do.
He asked what was his dps lost and we responded. What’s wrong with that. What we can’t even talk about DPS numbers because it can offend ppl that don’t like the meta?
Nobody said anything was wrong, don’t get so offended. I’m pointing out that his perceived damage loss doesn’t really exist. Bosses don’t even last 30 seconds in pug runs, you can get downed and the boss will die before you do.
Thank you all for the input.
Maybe its confirmation bias, but I feel even more comfortable with my weapon choices. It’s not as bad as I suspected. I lose a good deal of burst every 20 seconds or so. A scepter rotation when entering combat, large hit boxes, and/or multiple foes out of cleave range, will help make up for that. Sword/Torch does good damage, its not best and I’m ok with that. I get range, mobility, and playstyle preference that justify the means. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, ill keep an eye on this thread.
Edit: +10% Damage modifier. They seem to have given it to symbols and they wont give it back. 10% is also about how much DPS I lose for using sword. Why Anet, why?!?
Do you think it matters? Everything melts right now. Let’s say each person was supposed to represent 20% of overall damage, you losing 10% is 2% of the total damage…if boss fights lasted 1 hour you might see a small difference.
Speculation by investors.
That’s an oxymoron. XD
Cantha is across an ocean, while we have major threats right in Tyria. It’d be a little weird lore-wise for us to suddenly trek to Cantha which, from what I recall, is actually doing decent, they just went isolationist and kicked out non-human sentient races.
Oh so cantha is now xenophobic like…japan and china? I guess Anet is being more true to oriental cultures than we thought…
You’re not making any sense celtic. If you were in a queue that means ranked/unranked, hotjoin has no queue. If you didn’t want to join the match you should not have accepted the invitation, you should have denied it. You can’t accidentally get stuck in a ranked/unranked match, the way you join is completely different from hotjoin.
Would have to see the numbers to know more, but i do know that Queues have a tendency to be buggy….
Even before SH being added, Some people would be stuck in a 20 minute queue when the average time was 1 1/2 minutes. Don’t know what the cause of the bug is but it does happen.
For the most part, I’ve noticed all my SH games take 2 1/2 – 4 minutes queue time wise.
You do bring up an interesting point of a 4 way split in the pvp community though.
If they make us queue in the heart of the mists then they cant have seperate queues
If I have to order a milk shake at dairy queens lobby then they can’t have separate flavors, just the flavor i want. Do you not see the error in that?
Dude, that analogy just make no sense.
Actually it makes perfect sense. Separate queues do not equal long wait times and wait times are relative. 5 minutes is long to one person but short to another, your preference can’t be the deciding factor for everyone. If a players doesn’t like stronghold, forcing him into it will be EXACTLY like the old skyhammer. Remember how many people would just afk/log out when that map was picked? If queues aren’t separate then those disliking stronghold will make the experience worse for everyone that does enjoy it. And if the queue for stronghold is too long because it’s unpopular then all the more reason NOT to force players into it. Forcing people into a queue so you get a shorter wait while they get unenjoyable play isn’t going to work.
Still in the game? Yeah Capricorn had water but wasn’t a stupidly broken map with the worst mechanic a pvp game could ever have.
I get that it is probably someones “baby” but it needs to go.
I am just not sure how it could stay in the game this long.
Think about Anet’s position. They’ve released 7 conquest maps and 1 deathmatch. Currently 4 of those maps are considered “unworthy” of tournament play. Capricorn was removed while spirit watch, skyhammer and courtyard are considered sub-par. Anet put their effort into designing those 3 conquest maps and what resulted? Mostly(or rather only) complaints. Spirit watch is supposedly asymmetrical, underwater combat is gone so capricorn went with it and skyhammer was so bad at release I can’t believe it’s lasted this long. They’ve thrown in a deathmatch map which draws complaints: players who like and dislike courtyard want a separate queue but that would further splinter the small pvp community.
So ANet releases another new map…this time it’s got lanes, a lord and they’re calling it stronghold. What if after all their work we still have just 4 tournament worthy maps? I think Anet (might have) shoved skyhammer down players’ throats because they just wanted us to like it. They’ve modified the map quite a bit yet it’s still unpopular.
Where did this come from? O.o
On the pvp and necro forums you’ll always see necros complaining they’re underpowered.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/MM-is-broken-why-do-I-hear-about-it-in-PVP/
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Conditionmancer-still-sucks
Thankfully it’s only the first 2 links this time. It appears that after the patch some necros are enjoying the specialization change, before this the entire page was basically toxic posts about how bad necros were.
Couldn’t we have had…random arena(fast queue/matches just like GW1), solo conquest and team conquest? I don’t know everything about mmo pvp, but why do we need Anet hotjoin servers? We could have custom arenas created by players, random arena and solo/team conquest. Many of the people in hotjoin look for fights anyway, why not make an actual TDM mode?
PvP in GW1 was very different. No insta kills, CC was rare, combat was more strategic with resource management, no blinding flashes, and no pet zoo (other than MM necro, but they weren’t used much for PvP because the corpses could only come from the dead bodies of other players!)
And as others have pointed out, matches finished much faster.
-> Spikes were viable tactic for pretty long in competitive play.
-> Hammer Warriors, Gale, Interrupt Rangers/Mesmers etc…
-> http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Blinding_Flash
Spikes had to be set-up. The gameplay was slower and random arena wasn’t premades. Usually you could see things coming before you died. Interrupts weren’t stun-locks and by blinding flash he means the clutter on-screen.
No because people with stability are immune to stuns! These comparisons are silly!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
People with stability are immune to control effects. This includes fear.
Stuns are not conditions. CC effects are not conditions.
Fear is a CONDTION that causes CC.
No idea why this is so hard to understand. >.<
Fear is a control effect(a CC). No idea why this is so hard to understand. Go to the wiki and search for CC, see what comes up.
Treated Equal? Are stuns absorbed by Berserker stance, reduced by condition duration mitigation, negated by Resistance and removed condition cleanses? Seems like fear shouldn’t be either, all things equal…
You’re advocating fear becomes a regular stun. If this is the case then fear needs to be treated like stuns. You can’t automatically have 100% fear and condition duration, it shouldn’t come from unintelligible or instant casts and it normally shouldn’t come from 900+ range. It would need to be treated more like warrior stuns or basi venom- with a tell and shorter range. It is also the only control effect that grants passive damage through terror. This would either need to be completely removed or nerfed into oblivion, 1 CC cannot be so much superior to the others.
So stuns would stay on while you’ve got stab on too. This will trigger things like sigil of impact, tempest defense and unsuspecting foe. All the CCs would need to be treated the same.
The last time Anet got a chubby for conditions pvp lost players and streamers started quitting. It was condi-nuking necros and spirit rangers pushing zerkers out of the meta with hambow warrior countering the other 2. It was funny how the necros/rangers complained more than the other classes….but it was a terrible time for this game.
(skip to 34min in to see the “petting zoo”)
^^That’s what happens when “condi builds are as viable as power builds”. Literally every person in that match is a tank except the thief on sync. Now, this meta isn’t even a week old so there’s no way of knowing what will be top tier. But those desiring a condi-filled meta should be careful what they wish for.
(edited by data.4093)
I thought lyssa only converted conditions now? It shouldn’t give boons unless you’re conditioned.
Y’know…thief has many blinds too. Anet put the shoe on the other foot.
If Thief is blind-spamming then he has no Initiative for other things.
That’s kind of a bad argument considering Mind Wrack does both damage AND blind and it’s not hard to use it for both considering it’s instant cast.
No, not really. You get shatter trigger on enemy you usualy blind because of IP.
Probably all those defensive side effects to Shatters should have drawbacks, like :
-> Your Shatters Blind, but they deal 10% less damage.
-> Your Shatters heal you for XxX amount, but they deal 10% less damage.
-> Your Shatters remove conditions from you, but they deal 10% less damage.
So if the mesmer blinds 15 times when shattering, it’s unfair. But if the thief blinds 10 times and teleports into an attack then it’s all good. Guess we solved it then. It’s like driving next to a cop, if you go faster you’re breaking the law. But as long as you stay behind or next to him, you’re fine.
while you played poorly, blinding dissipation is undoubtedly problematic.
two things need to happen:
1. blinding dissipation needs to be evadable/invuln’able/blockable (this is a bug)
Thief’s shadow shot blinds and teleports, it cannot be blocked. Black powder’s blind field cannot be dodged if you roll through it. Can you dodge/block cloaked in shadow? Are you sure it’s a bug? Or is it being treated like other skills already?(the invulnerable part definitely looks like a bug but I’m not so sure about the other parts)
Y’know…thief has many blinds too. Anet put the shoe on the other foot.
Believe me when I say this OP: You’re not special, your build is not unique.
Before GW2 was released, ANet emphasized that they didn’t want players to look at bars and skill icons. If you make this option optional^^ then more and more people will likely use this option, because it will likely offer an advantage (especially the skill bar, less so the health bar). This would defeat the purpose of not having bars by default and it would work against the intended feeling of game play.
You can now argue, how much sense it makes, that there are no bars, but I guess it is core to the GW2 game play philosophy and any option breaking this philosophy would ultimately defeat the intended game play feel.
Anet has capitulated and changed their minds on so many things that it doesn’t matter what the “philosophy” was. That was 3+ years ago, Anet sold millions before the game came out and lost mountains of players within the first several months. The philosophy changed from “no higher gear tier” to “gear grind! yay”. It didn’t work out too well. Their idea of ditching the trinity didn’t work out, it still hasn’t worked the way they envisioned, zerkers rule. And pvp is the most dead aspect of this game, how is adding transparency going to hurt something that’s already dead?
The single biggest thing that holds GW2’s pvp back from getting more viewers is that there’s no free 2 play client available like for all the other esports games. With a free2play client you automatically get more people interested, more people streaming and more people viewing. From there on you can build something.
C’mon man…at least 3 million copies in NA/EU. 4(?) million in china. I’m just saying….
Have you ever tried watching one of those random promoted twitch tournaments? Most games are complete nonsense unless you’re familiar with it. FPSs are probably the only ones anyone can understand.
Most games aren’t that great, otherwise top level tournaments would be more than a handful of games. GW2 PVP isn’t discernible even if you are familiar with it. This is one of the best selling MMOs out there, it was the best seller of 2012 and sold 1 million copies before release. Where is the pvp community?
I’ve never played LoL and I tried watching a game, I was like WTFFFF is going on and turned it off after like 3 minutes. Also there is some apparently extremely popular tank game (I guess it’s European?) that I tried to watch. Everyone just instantly died. It was ridiculous, but it had over 17,000 viewers.
Don’t you see? GW2 has no viewers. 50k USD tourney and still no viewers. GvG does better, has no support and is truly a mess to watch. So what’s holding back sPvP?
GW2 dev1: “Let’s create an MMO with super fast gameplay like an FPS.”
GW2 dev2: “Let’s create an MMO with MOBA-style maps and lanes.”
GW2 dev3: “Ok we’ll make it super fast like an FPS but we’ve already decided conquest is the only map. We’ll add lanes later.”
GW2 dev4: “Why don’t we just create a next-gen MMO? I’m sure we can create a good one, we made a top MMO before and the genre has been around for 15 years. We should be fine with just MMO, we don’t need the -FPS-MOBA stuff tacked on.”
GW2 dev123: “you’re fired, #4.”
Sometimes it is, check around on support forums. I’m not a guy who’s familiar with all the requirements to fix drivers. When I got my laptop 3 years ago I immediately updated the drivers and had horrid performance, it was only after learning about laptop drivers and powerplay that I fixed it. When you learn things the hard way you tend to remember it well enough.
(edited by data.4093)
As a general rule, laptop graphics are a “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” thing. You installed drivers but your drivers are from AMD not samsung. Laptops are usually customized products and it’s best to keep what is working from the manufacturer. So go to samsung’s website, find their latest driver for your model laptop and keep those. Never go to AMD, those are usually desktop drivers. And make sure you get the other drivers out completely, you don’t want anything messing up the fresh install. Once this is done, go into CCC settings and find powerplay- ENABLE it. Make sure it is always enabled, turning this off can screw with your graphics, then set gw2 to high performance.
I think the real takeaway re: mesmer is that the 15% phantasm damage boost was totally unwarranted.
……Given that phantasms are pretty much fire and forget, I’d be more inclined to first revert the 15% baseline damage buff to phantasms before even thinking about further nerfs to mesmer.
It isn’t the 15% damage buff to phantasms. The increase in zerker stats causes the super high damage.
that showed nothing new. maybe its because my ram is slow? is there any other possibility that could help fix this issue.
There’s an optimization bug going around lately. It seems to be completely random at times, affecting certain computers at different points. I can’t replicate it on demand and after each patch it seemed to be getting better. The only thing to suggest is restarting your computer…
EDIT: I’m getting the bug again, I thought it was fixed with the 23rd patch but it keeps coming back. My client keeps telling me I have 80 FPS when it’s really below 15.
If this is true, throw up MSI’s afterburners onscreen stats with the GW2 ingame FPS meter and show that your FPS are not the same to the Bug forum. This could be a serious issue that they are not fully aware of yet.
I got afterburner and ran it. It’s saying the exact same thing as the in-game fps counter. So I’ve looked around to explain this fps lag and it’s a stutter. I remember the same thing from months ago: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2g9cpt/performance_issues_since_patch
I ventured into WvW to play around with mantras. I kept seeing all these numbers pop up and didn’t know where all that extra healing was coming from at first. Wow that thing was good.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNDDDD IT’S GONE!
Uhm, you can dodge while stunned? This is news to me. I really need to read up on those patch notes and get good.
So you get stunned, and magically and instantly, before you can use your stun break 3 clones pop up, the mesmers gets in melee range and you go from 15k/17k up to nothing. All of that happens, before you can use a utility to stun break.
Sorry have you actually used a stun break before?
my statement still stands. If you are having problems now, you had problems before, and you still haven’t learned how to play against it.
The first thing that happens is you activate a skill then the mesmer interrupts it with power lock. This is followed by damage from power block, 1 sec stun and 2 sec immobilize, a stun break won’t save you. Then the mesmer activates mirror blade and teleports into melee range, this strikes 3 times giving the mesmer might and you vulnerability(at this point the mesmer has at least 14 stacks of might and you have 17 vulnerability). There’s at least 1 clone from mirror blade, shatter on yourself and the clone and use mind stab. This is the basic spike you’re seeing so often that has a low cooldown.
I don’t get all these mesmer hate yet everyone is fine with a thief who shadow step/steal hit you with basilisk and burst you while you are stunned. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
It’s only the 3rd day after the patch, mesmer has taken the lead in abilities. Eventually people will see how strong thieves are. The backstab burst got more powerful too.(also, this is a mesmer thread)
(edited by data.4093)
They shouldn’t buff time warp. They should nerf feel my wrath. Remember when quickness had a high risk/reward mechanic? The only consistent thing outside of this was TW, other utilities had trade-offs like endurance loss, double damage taken, loss of healing. Now it’s just spam.
When a thief goes into stealth, you should almost always know that they will follow up with a back stab/steal/cnd, etc. Positioning yourself or baiting that out into a dodge/blurred frenzy is what most people should be doing.
Against thieves, it’s a proactive game play approach, not so much reactive.
A thief drops into stealth? Right now guards/mesmers/thieves can 1 shot from 1200 range. If thief stealths before you see him or have several seconds to react(assuming you’ve got the cooldowns), it’s all over. And not just them, engis wave their arm and 13 bombs hit you at once. It all sucks.
Learn to read instant bursts from invisible targets that can stun you three times in a row while teleporting around like deranged poltergeists. Such a l2p issue, amirite?
It’s not instant though. You do know you can see clones run towards you right…..you can dodge shatter just like you could prepatch. Its nothing new.
If you are having problems now , chances are you were having a problem with mesmers before, and that does make it a L2P issue
^This guy doesn’t know what power lock does.
If conditions are supposed to be on par with direct damage then make condition damage a primary stat. Condition damage has always been “secondary”, an ancillary stat to boost damage, anyone promoting pure condition builds should look at the game they’re playing. It’s like trying to make an unkillable tank or healer in a game with no trinity.
Maybe you are unaware of Sinister stats, which is condition damage main stay with power and precision. Properly balanced Sinister should have higher potential total damage (the condition damage plus direct damage) than Berserker since you have to build up and maintain the condition stacks. High health pools counter condition damage in the same way high armor counters direct damage which some people in this thread seem to be ignoring.
Most of the condi gear didn’t exist in the beginning. It was added later because someone got a kitten for conditions. There were some trinkets here or there but the stat combos weren’t that accessible: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/crafting/Dire-armor-Insignia
The game was clearly set up for conditions to remain secondary- it is a secondary stat and boons/conditions were built only around direct damage until resistance. That was a few days ago.
that showed nothing new. maybe its because my ram is slow? is there any other possibility that could help fix this issue.

I like PU for wvw when I need to zerg dodge or lose that group of 5-10 that feel the need to chase me across the map for some reason. Mass invis baseline was just too short for that.
I’m thinking they could have simply raised mass invis to 10 sec baseline and left PU alone. The 5 sec of invis felt way too weak for an elite, especially compared to something like shadow refuge(with 1/4s cast).
The attached SS speaks for itself.
- Unlucky steal 2.5k (NP)
- C&D over 6k (OUCH!)
- into an over 11k BSAll that was near instant. Then came a 10k Heart Seeker at the end just to add insult to injury.
I’m so glad we got MtD nerfed! It was obviously OUT OF CONTROL!!!!
Did you dodge any skill?
You won’t dodge a thief if they use basi venom. The whole point of d/d thief is to teleport with CnD then backstab to kill the person instantly. If someone manages to survive the BS then panic strike should ensure you won’t be going anywhere. This build was actually less powerful in the “old days” as it didn’t have access to so many multipliers and extra traits.
Seriously all ive heard for months on here was the same complaints about not enough high rish righ reward builds( we got it now) cele being op (its not anymore) classes being dps imbalanced( you are now what your are, no meta builds to rely on) and they cant deal with it again.
It’s not even high risk high reward, it’s low risk high reward. Everything is getting melted from far away or dying so fast they can’t respond.
The rumor is that your lowering dps which to me would be a shame, if im running rune of the pack with the zerker ammy and i still stack might with my utility skills and i land a big hit on somebody who isnt a bunker they should go down.
Im sorry mike tyson needed how many punches to take out his opponents in the 80s?
They should go down because you stacked some might and hit them from stealth? And when they couldn’t respond because you know…ping exists and humans can’t react faster than a speeding bullet, then what? Remember mike tyson fought professional boxers, we’re not professionals, the game has to actually bring new blood in. And hair trigger reaction gameplay has always been the domain of FPS. Also don’t forget that we had this meta a long time ago, thieves and mesmers had super burst and it got nerfed into the ground, newer players couldn’t do anything against them and it turned everyone off.
Do not construe my statements to mean burst shouldn’t exist, it did in the last meta but it wasn’t 100-0 before you could press a skill. You usually had to set up a burst and time it: risk/reward.
Thieves got some more damage and some extra survivability, but the Shadow’s Embrace nerf(that’s the name, yes?) is actually kinda annoying and the Feline Grace nerf also hurts S/D builds.
Thieves just feel glassier than ever. Shadow Arts only goes so far.
Everyone got a vigor nerf. Thieves got some of that vigor back and new counters in the acro lineup. Anet took away some of the dodging but handed s/d thieves more passive counters. Instead of dodging everything, there are some very forgiving traits in there.
It seems like so many players are still trying to use their old builds without realizing the game has completely changed. Try something new.
i’ve always had this problem with warrior, but now i have it with every profession
I’ve always thought this was related to the “damage on dodge” trait but it appears to affect everything now.
Does it go through invulnerable too?
I’m trying to understand these topics on mesmer. When I first saw the new stuff I thought mesmers would be super strong against slower classes. Then after I saw thief I thought, “kitten anet really wants to keep thief a hard counter for mes”. Has anyone tried using acro on thief? The main mesmer build being complained about and nerfed uses daze to gain stun and immobilize. Did no one else notice the acrobatics thief line is literally built to counter this?
I thought they fixed this with the 23rd patch but now I’m fps lagging again. Sometimes the game claims I’m getting 70 fps when it’s really 20.
Personally I think people will adjust. Right now it feels like everyone is still playing as if the stats they got from traits are still there and not compensating with amulets that provide the missing toughness/vitality.
You’re forgetting that some classes never played with tough/vit. Right now it’s more like an FPS, ping is EXTREMELY important and can determine fights. It’s not that great when an MMO punishes people so much for not having 40 ping.
There’s currently an optimization issue affecting players. I have a 4690k and get the same issues since the last patch. We had a similar issue months ago affecting players somewhat randomly, some fixed it- others had to wait until Anet patched it.
But still, each front fan move 67.4 cubic feet of air per minute. The case only has a volume of roughly 1.8 cubic feet. That’s roughly 74 exchanges per minute, over 1 per second.
Nah, those fan specs are a lie. The issue is that the heat needs to be dispersed immediately from the GPU and CPU and anything that pushes air further into the case(more CFM and higher static pressure) will produce better results. Normally he’d be fine with 2 regular fans because cases only have 1-2 cubic feet but his situation calls for something that can always generate air from outside onto the 2 hottest parts.
And yes, the 2nd fan on the bottom is unlikely due to the cabling coming out of the PSU, modular or otherwise. The 1st fan would be only slightly effective since the drive cage is above it and the first full drive will block airflow. Fortunately the lower front fan is blowing air across the drive cage for cooling.
He can remove the HDD cages for better airflow if he needs it. An SSD can be placed on the back panel.
You could always go odd with a case like this.
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/carbide-series-air-540-silver-edition-high-airflow-atx-cube-case
I just went with what was picked out. There are so many cases you can look all day and not pick one.
How hot?
35°C +, my room is small and the warmest spot in the house too. No AC!
The only thing I’m really looking at is the case/psu because of your heat problem. You can’t spare room for excess heat. Seasonic is known for their quality products and the PSU seems fine, according to the product page it spins based on temperature(not load) so it should keep itself in check. Just make sure to face the PSU down and draw air from outside the case.
The case is a bit different.

Link 1 is to the case, 2 is the fans contained inside the case, 3 is the fan model the case fans are based on and link 4 is a thread with some info. The problem is the case fans are based on the AF 140 quiet editions yet the 140 quiets spin 15% faster, cost 3x as much yet corsair claims they push the same amount of air(which isn’t true). The fans that come with the case are cheap sleeve fans that are set at low RPM to keep the noise down and they won’t push much air. Another problem is that you can’t fit a fan in the bottom slot of the case(the middle slot), companies claim there’s enough room but there never is once the PSU is installed. You can stick the SSD on the case’s back panel(see photos on the product page) and remove the HDD cage to fit 1 fan in the first bottom slot. That’ll leave you 3 intake fans if you choose to fill all 3, but I’m going to assume you use 2.
Buy something decent for these front intake slots like jetflo 120s or corsair sp120 performance. They will be loud but push air. The exhaust fans don’t have to be these same fans but if you choose to stick 2 on exhaust it should be fine.
To sum up, pick a good fan(like a jetflo120), get 2 of them and stick them on the front. Then you can make a choice of buying 2 more of these fans, sticking 1 on top and 1 on the back OR take the 3 case fans and stick 2 on top, 1 on the back. Bear in mind that sleeve fans(the ones with the case) don’t always work so great in horizontal positions.

If I want to play all the content in the expansion I’m going to have to pay $60. Why might you ask, because if I want to play all the content that is going to be released I have to buy another character slot. Don’t come on and tell me, “well you can convert gold to gems!”. All that is saying is Anet doesnt give 2 kittens about my time even though I’m spending $50 on top of the few hundred I invested in the game(gems to gold). And no I didnt need the gold I just wanted to support a company that I thought had the players best interests in mind, which, evidently, is far from the truth.
You thought a subsidiary of a publicly owned corporation cared about giving you free stuff? And you gave them money for things you didn’t need expecting them to reciprocate? Did you have a contract? I still find it laughable that players assumed Anet needed cash when they were making money from the cash shop…Anet never considered an expansion because you guys were giving them the revenue they needed. Gem buyers are the reason we didn’t get an expansion for 3 years.
You take kitten way to literal. I spent money because I had faith in Anet but they proved me wrong. I’m not saying they owe me anything.
Relevance in bold.
