Do you know why rares/exotics have value currently?

because of ectos? quite frankly, even they have little to no value

i’ll say it again i don’t think this content needs to be nerfed, however I really feel they need to fix the entire overflow system and make tequatl either spawn more frequently or be able to be summoned. Hours in between is definitely the worst thing about this fight, easily.

I agree with woodenpotatoes. Not having any control over overflows, not having a short spawn timer, or the ability to be summoned, all take away from this fight. Sitting around for hours doing nothing or trying to get into your main server for hours on end is just boring, broken, annoying….not fun at all.

Waiting around for hours doing nothing is absolutely the worst part of this fight. I don’t want nerfs, I just want to not have to sit here ALL day just to save a spot on the map.

[Merged] Your opinions of the LFG tool

dcypher.2590

I want give you a bit feedback from today dear devs:-)

I am glad you add LFG tool but it need much mure feature before majority of players starts prefer it before gw2lfg.com

I tried today make a speed run party, I was very specific what I looking for (level, gear, ect) a must kick about 20 people what are I dont know.. lets say were too casual to understand what I want in description. I also feel bad for that kicking because its wrong.

So here is list of features what may prevent this misunderstandings (lets say it will be some checklist what dont allow players without those specifications even see party offer in roster):
- Level restriction
- Class restriction
- Gear rarity and stat type restriction
- Let party creator see players gear and build (like in SPvP)

Also instead of creating party and waiting for players to join make something like list of currently avaible players. Player fit some quick description and wait till someone pick him from the list. Also some system to rate players by other players will be great it learn some people behave better.

No offense but if you are going to be that picky, then you shouldn’t be looking for random people.

Why Skin Wardrobe should be a high-priority

dcypher.2590

This needs to be top priority. Seriously. Today is the first time I learned that one-time unlockable skins through the achievement panal can only be used once for an entire account. (wings of the sunless). Not only does that not make any sense to me, but it is disheartening. AT the very least, the achievements need to be separated by character so each character on the account can unlock them.

Why don't achievement rewards get unlocked?

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: dcypher.2590

dcypher.2590

So I just got Teq’s wings and I really like the deign…. But it brought up a curious question.

Why in the Kitten does it not go into the unlocked achievement rewards tab like the god-ugly Zenith skins… It’s an achievement unlock after all I did finish the boss week meta grouping? Honestly it looks great on my necro, but what if I ever want it on another character?

This extends to dragonbash wings, Mad King’s memoirs and all the other lovely ACHIEVEMENT skins we’ve unlocked through the achievements tab.

Well, this is depressing news. Why would the achievement system be account wide when we can only use the reward for one character? At the very least, these should be unlockable on each hero separately. Very, very depressing news.

dcypher.2590

Before I start going around and collecting these teeth all night, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a one time use skin or if it gets saved in your achievement tab with the *Zenith skins and such?

The reason I ask is because the achievements are across account, so it seems you can only unlock the wings once for the entire account, and if it’s only a one time use then I feel that it should be unlockable for each hero not just one. I really hope it is not a one time use.

Edit: wrote avenger instead of zenith for some reason

Risk vs Reward [Challenging Content.]

It takes 15 minutes to do it. If you win, you get massive rewards. If you lose, well tough luck, you lost 15 minutes.

What’s the problem?

Why do people think this is just a 15 minute fight? Sitting on a map doing nothing for hours on end just to save your spot in the main server should count, as should failing the event and having to wait another 2 hours should. No matter how you look at it, this fight requires a lot more than 15 minutes of your time.

The AFKers are the worst. Ante should reduce the AFK timer to 60sec during that event. That will get rid of quite a few useless dead bodies scaling up the event.

I agree that trying to organize a bunch of random people is an uphill battle. I used to be part of a large guild, it would take us 45min to an hour just to get people to form up for a stupid guild photo.

I can’t really fault AFKers. It’s not like Teq is able to be summoned…people are just waiting there for up to two hours. IDK about you but I watch netflix and even load up a different game in that time frame. Granted I tab back regularly but I can see where someone might not.

People that go afk during the fight, however…well what can ya do.

How about during the fight you only have 60 sec afk timeout ?? AFK timeout before the fight is as normal, would that be to hard to do on a technical stand point ?

I have no clue what coding it would take to implement that. Sounds like an easy thing to do.

You spend far more than 15 minutes on this fight. You are not even counting the time it takes to organize, explain fights, etc. This is essentially a raid… pick up groups won’t do it as the overflow shows.

Haven’t you read all the L2P, bads on turrets, etc.. remarks? About 70% of the complaints are about other people… To you (Arenanet), that should tell you the most. So buck up, and just create an instanced raid like every other mmo does because the only thing you are succeeding with this is a split in the player base.

120-130 people in VoIP to kill Tequatl

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: dcypher.2590

dcypher.2590

I really wish they hadn’t beaten him. Seriously, now the metric for this is incredibly difficult not impossible to ANet. The thing is to the average open world zerg this is impossible.

It’s not just about getting out of a zerg mentality, it’s that several parts of this encounter are critical failure points.

1st: The turrets. 6 people essentially control your fate in phase 1. If they are not chain cleansing the zerg DPSing and buff the zerg DPSing.

2nd. His Mechanics render certain classes/builds useless. As a ranger I rely on my pet for a good portion of my damage. Too bad my pet gets 1-2 shot by Tequatl. People in Berserker’s gear have 2/3 of their stats being useless while DPSing him. Get Soldiers gear you say? Why should anyone have to spend 10-12g just to fight one boss when the chance of success does not hinge on that one person alone.

3rd. Coordination. They killed Tequatl by using communication from a program outside the game. Last time I checked, the game is supposed to be balanced around the content in the game, not 3rd party applications. Saying people need to use TS to communicate to beat content is bad content design. Just because this is a requirement for WoW does not mean it should be a requirement for open world content.

That’s enough of my rant, and I hope I get proven wrong by people banding together to uniformly defeat this epic encounter by the power of friendship and love! That’s not going to happen. The community is rapidly getting polarized and unless SOMETHING is done about polarizing the community you will get a content gradient in which certain servers are the servers to defeat the hard content, and other servers are ghost towns, just like WoW.

come on at least in wow they put their hard bosses in an instance for organized groups and their world bosses are do-able by any pick up group and don’t even need to be in a raid group anymore. The funny thing is, I feel wow assembled that system because of GW2, and then GW2 took the raid boss system and decided to present it to more than just organized groups, but to casuals as well. On the plus side I believe this will ultimately show raids will happen in GW2, because putting a crazy hard boss in a leveling zone (65?) and having casuals crucified for being around is going to have a negative effect.

Please don’t, it makes it impossible for players in Blackgate (you know, people actually from that server) to get into the main instance.

Why should non-Blackgate players be disallowed from trying to join in on a server with a much higher chance than their own server may have?

I didn’t say he wasn’t allowed, I said “please don’t”. I was asking, as it makes Blackgate players incapable of getting into their own server’s instance.

Please read before responding. I’m not saying you are required to read a comment before responding to it, I’m simply asking you to.

Although, I will say certain things were handled poorly. It’s definitely against ANet’s design philosophy for additional players (even if not so skilled) to be a burden rather than a help. I hope they make appropriate tweaks to the types of mechanics they use, rather than nerfing or abandoning the whole idea of outdoor “raids.”

For the most part, this. Why not put all the effort into designing an actual raid if they didn’t expect casuals to get involved and not be a burden? Instead of ressing people I’m already seeing the “just teleport to the closest waypoint” logic. God forbid if a casual hops on a turret, or doesn’t stack. Or takes up a spot on the main server that might be better off for a guildie on the overflow.

There are literally 400,000 players playing at one time in this game. The nigh impossible 500 responses this thread would get is .1% of all players that are playing right now and since about 5 million games were sold of GW2, that’s about 0.01% of all players that might play this content.

The forums house a very vocal and negative minority of the playerbase.

Just because they boast the fact they hit 400k concurrent players AT ONE TIME last year or whatever doesn’t mean that happens every hour, every day, or even ever since. Talk about skewing numbers.

I think you’re missing the point here.

Not really. You are claiming people don’t use forums, when really there’s no data to suggest how many do, how many don’t. How many post? How many just read? You’re just assuming. The reality is you don’t know. Unless you are trying to say that nothing can be inferred about a population by observing a sample?

Do you remember the Karka Queen? I can’t remember when she died last time on our server. I think nobody goes there anymore. She was the first big boss with a time constraint and what happened? People realised that she’s not worth the effort and that the chance for failure is much too high to risk wasting a lot of time. The same is about to happen with Tequatl. Open world bosses with time constraints do not work. I wonder how many more bosses Anet needs to ruin, until they notice that.

Yea I agree. The guy above you talked about bragging rights… Hey everyone I killed Karka Queen….YaY

dcypher, you can’t zerker Teq until those moments he’s stunned from the laser, because he’s normally immune to criticals. All other times it’s worth little to be a zerker.

you still want whatever does the most damage in order to beat the timer…this is a veiled gear/trait check because dodging mostly everything in the fight is pretty easy. That was what I was trying to say.

Needs a nerf

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: dcypher.2590

dcypher.2590

i dont know if it needs a nerf, but from my point of view its still the same boring zergfest thats just drawn out longer due to a bigger healthpool. With a random zerg of people (especially after this isn’t ‘new’ anymore) the chance to fail is incredibly high which if you fail often makes it just not even worth your time to port out there because failing rewards squat. Certainly not worth sitting there for another respawn like I’ve been doing for the past three attempts since about…hell it’s 10:35 now so it’s been a good 5 hours now. Thank kitten for netflix right? Anyway…

However, this could be cool for guilds as long as they run trait checks and zerker checks to make sure they can get the damage they need and kick the bads from the group…sure why not.

Just watched a vid of the fight – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgoxvV6JF5U

Definitely looks just as unfun as it’s always been – only this time there’s a chance that you’ll get nothing (8,057 XP and 80cp at level 80 for failure is indeed nothing at that point in the game) and it’s therefore going to stay in the “do once so that you can say you did” category. (and, sadly, after the fight you find that he has definitely drunk the Kool-Aid, the poor kitten)

Pretty much spot on. I’ve done it a couple times now..still the same zergfest for the most part, just a bigger health pool. We’ve gotten him to about 92% before the timers expire and we lose the event…which you’re right rewards nothing. Sitting here waiting for the last hour or so for another respawn hopefully to get it down so I don’t ever have to do this again.

I feel this will be something for guilds to do together, though. Basically open world raiding because a random zerg after the new scent wares off just isn’t going to cut it damage wise.

i fully expect people to run gear/trait checks for this tho. Will need to damage to push if you don’t have a very huge group

Just because the game doesn’t have a tank role doesn’t mean that bosses should not require tanking, let me elaborate. Have situations where all the members of the party have to take turns tanking due to a debuff or some other mechanic. Make kiting something fun…design the settings boss fights take place in to harbor kiting in unique ways.

There’s no mechanic to control aggro so no way to take turns tanking.

Kitting something isn’t fun because ranged weapons are pea shooters compared to melee, so kitting something means a slow and boring fight.

I mean you pretty much just ignored what I suggested about kiting, but okay. There’s no reason they couldn’t design it to be fun, that’s all perspective. The fights need variance anyway.

Also, people usually don’t suggest things that are already in game to be added. Aggro should be controllable. That’s not to say that one person has to be a tank, it’s all about implementation. MMOs are unique in that they constantly evolve, so just because aggro isn’t in now doesn’t mean it can’t be in the future.

What does soloing lupi have to do with anything? Do i get some great reward for doing it? Otherwise why would i waste my time doing that?

Because it shows that you aren’t a bad. If you’re going to call PvE easy, you should at least be able to solo a boss like Lupi. You’re just another ‘good enough is good enough’ poser.

Facepalm So you need video proof of me doing ONE thing in the game, that is just going to be me smacking a boss and dodging for 20 mins just to prove the point that the game is to easy?

It takes you 20 minutes? Thanks for proving that you’re a bad. I’ll leave you alone now.

kitten man. Im throwing in the towel. It takes me 20 mins to kill ONE boss by myself in ONE dungeon. I mean its not meant for 5 people right? Cause when i do it with a team it takes roughly 15-20 seconds.

That’d basically mean you do 1/60 of the damage your 5 men team does.

What? That literally makes no sense.

Since modbot deleted and infracted my response for being rude (wtf?) i’ll just write it again:

Indeed.
You’d deal 1/80 to 1/60 of your 5 men teams damage then.
1/80 of your parties damage would (hey bot, can you recognise this please) make you an even worse leech.

Let’s see how long this post survives, the forums moderation is seriously kittened up and apparently just infracts/deletes all posts that get reported without checking.

Probably because you are way off topic, but that’s just my guess.

As for the topic, the trinity doesn’t need to be here… I don’t expect it to be here, or required at any point, and that’s fine. I feel they are on the right path but need to refine the fight designs and the class abilities. Make them more meaningful, the game would feel less spammy and more engaging if you actually had to manage resources or something of that sort.

if we look at wow and its trinaty its a tank pulling some mobs and if he needs a smoke he just rolls one as he tanks. healer is able to do the same to a bigger degree

Um, yeah, no. Not even slightly. Tanks and Healers in most MMORPGs that have them have to concentrate 100% on the job at hand. The slightest mistake by either can cause a wipe just as easily as DPSes not watching where they’re stepping.

Honestly, anyone who says that they can just taunt and walk away as a tank is just plain wrong. Maybe a highly geared tank who can spam AoE and is doing casual mode content could get away with it, but this ideology doesn’t even come close to representing anything on the hardest difficulty settings.

personally i think the game would have more depth with roles….at the very least resource management with more meaningful, yet more expensive moves. Either way its too late for them to ever consider the trinity so hopefully they’ll figure out a way to add more depth without the teamwork that the trinity provides.
