can they? ‘cause i thought they could, then i looked up on the wiki and there’s no reference of it, so i figured it was scrapped.
I dont know where it was, but this is definitely a thing.
At least some rocks somewhere in tyria can be picked up and used for a special fire spell as an elementalist
edit: nvm, found it:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Boulderonly on guild wars, there’s a separate wiki page on rocks and boulders, and the two have different info.
Incorrect. My ele picks up rocks and turns them into meteors all the time in GW2. It acts just like the spell from GW.
…that’s my point.
there’s a page on the wiki called “rock”, and it shows the “rock” environmental weapon, but no mention of the elementalist skill.
then there’s a page called “boulder”, and shows literally the same environmental weapon, except this time it has the freaking elementalist tooltip.
i’m criticizing the wiki having multiple pages on something this trivial, and the pages not even having the same information.
You said you thought it was scrapped…
Rock is an item you buy, I believe. Boulders are the ones lying around. So I guess technically you pick up rocks called boulders. Small boulders…
Aren’t those cobbles?
http://www.academia.edu/7407616/Paper_110_Hunt_et_al_Microtunneling_in_Gravel_Cobbles_and_Boulders_f
Sorry, I’m a tunneler and its the difference between millions of dollars in hundreds of change orders… haha.
btw what are you guys talking about??
Probably. Never measured them…
We are talking about…no idea. Throwing rocks at people I guess.
Stop opening champ bags on a level 80 character. Get a level 75-79 character to open champ bags on. You’ll more or less have the same loot tables from the bags, except you will not get bloodstone dust if the character is not level 80.
Additionally, use storage characters if you absolutely insist on hanging onto those materials. Dragonite is something I simply drag and destroy every so often when farming SW.
That is ridiculous. Keeping a character just below 80 to open bags shows there is a very big problem here.
New players can save all their gold for weeks to buy a bag slot. Oh joy!
Oh joy indeed! It’s actually really cool they can do so just like everyone else that doesn’t want to pay cash for gems. It’s a really nice feature that Anet allows trading in game gold for gems.
I bought my slots before they cost ~1000 gold for all bag and bank slots. Not sure about you, though.
A new player is also trying to get this thing called gear.
New players can save all their gold for weeks to buy a bag slot. Oh joy!
There’s no reason for silk to take 100 per ascended mat when it’s over 4x the price of other ascended mats.
there is also no reason for taking less than 100 in an arbitrary setting. No, your need for cheap silk is not a proper reason.
What? Every other ascended mat only takes 50 things not 100, silk takes 100 for absolutely no reason. It had a reason, silk was useless, that reason isn’t true anymore.
There is a reason. You just havent been playing long enough to know that (granted, I didnt know the reason at first either). The reason that damask takes double the silk to craft is that there was such a glut of silk, that it was gw2’s thick leather sections of today. That massive oversupply was the decisive factor in anet making damask take 100 silk as opposed to 50. Consequently, that decision is half the reason why silk is at the price it is. The other half of the reason being silk/damask a required material for all armors.
Wow. He even said he knew exactly why it USED TO need to be high, yet you completely ignored him, and rambled on anyway. Nice one!
A good tip is to shoot the shadows with a ranged weapon from inside the fire, so you get the buff again after you use it up.
Depends if Breach and Vinewrath are permanent or not.

I am expecting a lot of tooltip changes, and little else. The Anet way.
Oh and it will only get worse, OP. Get ready for the living story content, where they throw zillions of new items and currencies that do not go into your collection tabs.
Yes, space is far too expensive. Yes, it should never have cost gems. But good luck convincing the fanboys who bought space 2 years ago that it needs to change.
Oh and evidently in a game about collecting stuff and cosmetics, you are not supposed to ‘hoard’ things. Oh unless you buy overpriced space that is. Then you are allowed…

Well, that’s the sad thing about gathering raw materials— most of it isn’t usable. You might really just get a single plank out of a tree.

Outfit? Way to ruin it, Anet.
You do not enjoy salvaging stacks of raw ambrite and sifting through hundreds of piles of sand?
Anet clearly do not understand, seeing as they are adding even more things we have to spam click on.
Was pretty weak. Dragon Ball is horrible for the reasons listed above; the firecrackers were just plain pointless; not enough access to the food; event was very shallow.
I really miss it
I believe they turned it off because some people complained it ruined their immersion in cutscenes…
They better make good on their promise to return it.
No internal cooldown, but I believe the fury part has less range than the might part. Sometimes I will blast a fire field and only get the might.
Celestial outside of PvP? Does it no longer suck or something?
That is so very Anet…

Thought they confirmed Thief was given rifle, and Guardian the longbow.
Mhh for me the indicators work fine with the traits. I just tested blasting staff with all placement-indicator options (fast one and the 2x click).
And i am certainly not using the chinese client. I have that client installed since the beta weekend.
I also think the bug forum may be a better place for your problem then the hot one…
It’s not the case of when your client was instaled (or whether it’s the chinese one or not), but when your character was created. I understand it works well for everyone that got their ele made after the original bug got fixed (possibly also for everyone that didn’t have the trait equipped the day the patch hit), but that fix didn’t work for me at all. There was even a thread not long ago on this with pictures from two characters compared side to side to show the problem.
Odd, but explains a lot.
Servers are only for WvW now. Megaservers mean PvE is always populated (though many server communities were killed).
Staff, staff, staff. 1 item instead of 2, and it is the most powerful PvE and WvW zerg weapon. Anet did a very poor job of balancing ascended costs between 1 and 2 handers.

Blasting Staff increases the indicator, but the actual field is still bigger.
That would be cliched and lame.
I am betting it is a rather small part of their income. Their 1% whales would have bought most of theirs by now, and new players were scared off by the horrible NPE. Their weekly sales and new flavours are what make them their money.
Yeah, except for the fact that the vast majority of the people shouting about the “horrible NPE” are veteran players that knew how the system was before, thus had something to compare to.
Based on actual in-game experience however I see plenty of new people running around. And yes, their weekly sales do indeed make them money. But it is also rather silly to claim that they make no money off bank and bag slots.
You also still refuse to come up with what they should add to the store instead in order to replace the loss of income from removing the gem cost of bank and bag slots.
NPE is awful. They even admit that by removing the new trait system in HOT.
Cool that trait system change was 6 months before NPE.
It was targeted at new players, and Colin mentions it as the main thing for improvement in his NPE blog.
so i bought this game comming from a f2p type MMO with the expectation that i would not NEED so spend RL money on it .. as in CS items .. but yet by lvl 70 i only have 5 gold … why on earth would a bought game act as a free to play game ? (and yes i get it * to make money*) but this is no excuse !!
You do not NEED additional bank or bag space. It is fully possible to play the game without them.
You do not NEED armour. It is fully possible to play the game without it.
How do you make 10 gold an hour? You said earlier you did it mining platinum. Are you using the actual pay-to-win item, the sprocket mining tool?
pay to win? What? 1000 gems is aprox 150 gold or so. You would not go trough enough picks in your lifetime to justify getting that one. It’s a poor investment if you ask me.
Platinum, iron, mature herbs for a chance of peppers and appropriate trees. Fastest fi you have many alts, locate the rich nodes and just do it that way. Maps reset every 30 minutes to an hour and there’s plenty of maps to rotate trough.
I’m mostly using the wintersday free tools boxes (got over 200 just stacked up), however even if I was using orrichalcum picks, it’s still profit.
Ok, sure. But how 10 gold an hour? Does that actually add to 10 gold? I might have to send my brother out harvesting…
Give them a vendor price or something for people who are capped, I guess.
And then set the pillar on fire? Great idea!
What is a problem is simple quality of life improvements that newer players, unless they’re willing to break out a credit card, will never be able to realistically achieve in game.
now I’m able to make 10G an hour. When the game was new that was impossible money. Money is so much easier to make now and there’s more of it circulating, meaning that more people spend more money on purchases that were worthless at the start (for example silk and linen).
So no, you’re realistically able to achieve these improvements in game.

I’m sure others like Wanze will rip your statement wide open
I stopped reading when he wrote that Anet is retracting items from the economy.
Yes, that confused me as well. I’m not sure what proof the OP has of such things, as I have observed the opposite to be true (i.e. Silverwastes and Dry Top chests, PvP reward tracks, ascended material recyclers, &c.).
And not to mention a wider range of exotics and an increased chance for precursors from the forge. It’s now easier than ever to get items, even rare ones.
I believe he meant their nerfs to farming.
There are nerfs to farming? As far as I can tell, drop rates for mats are still the same, and for gear as well. As well as easier ways to get them.
They constantly nerf farming, while promoting things they can heavily regulate.
People really need to give up this Time = Gold = Free falsehood. It is ridiculous…
Hey, I have some work that needs doing. Anyone want to do it? You will only use up your time, so of course I will pay you nothing.
If you think time isn’t of any value then you’re a very unintelligent person.
Time and convenience is always worth a value subjectively based upon what that person assigns to it as a value.
You are preaching to the choir, son.

Because having them in the wallet doesn’t take up space in your inventory making you have to buy more bag slots and bank slots.
They might get them in the wallet sometime in the future, but i don’t think there is a critical enough mass of annoyed players for it to be worth their while sad to say.
Yep. The Living Story seems to love clogging our inventory with random stuff.
Thermogoldsinkalytic whatever the hell it is, is the most horrible gold sink ever.
its not really absurd at all. Just because you enjoy your time spent doesnt mean it isnt valuable.
I enjoy drawing, does that mean i should give out drawings for free? nope. Many doctors genuinely enjoy helping people, should they work for free? nope.
wether you have fun or not is completely irrelevant to the value of time, or whether it is worth money.
but forget being worth money, because regardless, time is an extremely valuable commodity, regardless of money, its probably the most valuable commodity anyone actually has.Oh, that’s definitely better than “come over and do work for me for free, since it’s ‘just’ time being spent”.
Why can’t you be the person having this discussion more passionately than him?
The ‘time and gold are free’ argument is just so kitten ridiculous, that I see no need to argue it in depth. It is patently obvious that it is wrong. If gold was free, then gems would be free. And if time meant nothing, then why do people pay real money to make up for it?
So you will be breaking up and carrying some concrete to a giant bin. You can do it over a few days if you like. It will only take time and effort, so I will not be paying you.
Are you seriously comparing playing a game for entertainment to manual labour?
So if you enjoy manual labour then it is considered free?
People really need to give up this Time = Gold = Free falsehood. It is ridiculous…
Hey, I have some work that needs doing. Anyone want to do it? You will only use up your time, so of course I will pay you nothing.
People need to understand why they spend time on entertainment. You play and you gain joy out of the time spent. If there is no joy for the time played, it is time to move on to other game seriously.
So you will be breaking up and carrying some concrete to a giant bin. You can do it over a few days if you like. It will only take time and effort, so I will not be paying you.
I am also seeing from some of you what seems to be contempt for those who actually put time and effort into this game. What is up with that?
People really need to give up this Time = Gold = Free falsehood. It is ridiculous…

Each time I suffer through it for the extra laurel, I tell myself ‘At least it is not crab toss or the NPE’.
Money from selling space is most likely a very, very minor part of their overall income.
information source?
Anet will never give that out. But it is common sense. It is a finite item, new players were scared off by a horrible NPE, and most of the whales would have capped it already. These weekly sales would be the vast majority of their income.
Oh, 1 hour a day. Still, you rate your time as worth something, yet you claim those who spend their time gaining gold in game are doing it for free. You are being hypocritical.
And you’re being hyperbolic, but it’s okay, we still like you just as you are.
By the way, the reason I stepped out of the thread is I think my time has more value than trying to argue why there’s less point to buying bags and bank spaces than other characters.
No hyperbole here. He flat out stated that gold is ‘free’ and farming for it costs nothing. Yet he states his time has meaning. Pure hypocrisy.
As for the character part, I am waiting for a sale on slots so I can make a level 55 to open my green bags on. Linen and platinum ho! I guess they can mule as well, though I HATE having to have mule characters.
Money from selling space is most likely a very, very minor part of their overall income.
And I seriously doubt many people are converting gold to gems to buy space these days. The price is just way too high, so most do not bother or make an alt guild.
Changing it to gold might actually encourage more people to play, those who were turned off by the gating of space behind gems.
The alternative is of course drastically reducing the gem cost of space. They would sell a lot more this way, and probably increase profits seeing as space is most likely rarely bought these days.
Oh, 1 hour a day. Still, you rate your time as worth something, yet you claim those who spend their time gaining gold in game are doing it for free. You are being hypocritical.
Wait. You said 1 hour of game play a day EACH WEEK. Why add the weekly part?
(edited by dietzero.3514)
Or he’s reacting to the fairly bald attempt to reduce the price :p
I cannot take him seriously. He spent so long talking about gold being free because you can earn it with time, then says he cannot ‘afford’ to play more than 1 hour a week. So evidently only his time is worth something.
Looks good to me. One thing about Mangler though: you need to kill the pustules before they explode for wide area of effect damage, and a lasting poison dot on the ground. The wipes on it are caused by the pustules not being killed.
