Well they took the proper path of removing crit immunity and increasing health. Now we see how it turns out.
Edit – looks like Anet messed up and failed to make them properly crittable.

Did Josh ever explain why Main the Disillusioned was nerfed?
I figured it was the Karka god punishing us.
Instead of blanket nerfing it across all professions, please actually look at it from a case to case, profession to profession basis. Some professions, like the elementalist, still cannot viably use a Burning build, and a general nerf would hurt them as well.
If you have to general nerf Burning, then please buff the Burning skills and Traits that are weak in applying it, e.g Flamestrike.
World Bosses like this are immune to critical hits. This means Precision and Ferocity are useless. They are also balanced around 25 stacks of Bleed, etc. Once this cap was removed, OF COURSE condition builds are going to dominate them. In a battle of power only versus conditions, conditions will crush.
Therefore what needs to be done is a rebalancing of all world bosses. Otherwise it will be only conditions ‘allowed’, instead of being using what you want.
And linken, let go of your petty hate. This is not about your weird vengeance against power builds, or condition’s turn to dominate. This is about BALANCE. Conditions and power should both be viable.
For PvE? Nope. Still not enough consistent damage.
Very fun, but extremely buggy. Lion’s Arch has some messed up fall damage physics.
Drake’s Breath has such a low cooldown that cleansing is ineffective against it.
I would say the new version is a PvP nerf and PvE buff.
The problem is that Teq and other world bosses are balanced around power damage and critical hit immunity. So when a condition build comes along that can do far more damage than pure power, they will die very fast.
I think they need to remove crit immunity and rebalance all world bosses.
Considering conditions cant crit and they now after a ramp up time are close to what a direct damage person do right away… can you please explain why remove crit immunity?
its not like there is 1 person applying those 80-100 bleeds.
Because otherwise condition builds will dominate fights like this.
If they rebalanced everything without crit immunity, both pure power and condition builds would be viable. Remember, a lot of condition specs also rely on crits for procs.
afew condition builds do yea but all power builds get a buff from the removal of crit immune, it seems to me that you just want power builds to out preform condi builds again bud
Seem to me that you have trouble reading. Condition builds will absolutely no contest dominate these fights. Bringing a power build and not being on add duty means you are severely hurting the group. Does THAT make sense to you?
Everything needs to be equal, champ. Stop wanting conditions to dominate just because power used to dominate.
Also:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Things-we-know
Condition eles still suck outside of the crazy niche WvW roamer build.
I’m not sure I see what the problem is.
Just leveling to 80 will get you enough points to buy everthing. I know I just did it via scrolls with an alt.
If you’re sub 80 the traits never really mattered to begin with. You’re cut of from most of the good ones until near 80 and they don’t’ exactly make a big difference leveling anyways.
Dude…the system has completely changed. You can max a tree WAY before 80 now. Not sure why you are commenting if you have not even checked it out…
Burning sucks for the master of fire, the Elementalist…

It is in the tooltip in-game as well.
Also Burning Precision has a 5 second cooldown, making it complete rubbish. Arcane Precision is 33% chance with a 3(?) second cooldown for 1 second of burn, meaning it sucks as well, except for keeping up Weakness in Air.
What’s with everyone complaining about loosing stats from traits, you’ll get them back with higher baseline stats and increased gear stats.
Currently, if you play zerker gear + traits with defensive stats, you are technically not pure zerker so there is no point to compare this to full zerker post patch. You can switch few gear pieces and have very similar stats to as now (wvw/pve). In pvp it will depend on the amulet choices (didn’t watch streams so don’t know about those).
Losing.
And you cannot customise amulets in PvP, which means you have to compare with what is exactly there.
No apology? Meh.
Condi ele is s**t, other professions can do it better.
Maybe so, but it could mean that someone you think is agreeing with you is actually egging you on to get you upset, while actually laughing at you.
I’m not upset at all. I never have been. I’m simply participating in a conversation on the issue and trying to discuss suggestions and options. This thread just happened to be the main one on the issue at hand as the others got buried or were mixed into mega threads. Should SP choose to laugh at me, I have no problem with that.
Having SP as your support hurts your argument, though.
It is safe to assume as long as karl is the ele developer we are kittened either ways. Remember in gw2 only cel d/d exist, no other weapon type exist.
All fall before Karlmir, god of trolls.
You know the Specialisations are getting released on Tuesday whether you are buying HoT or not, right? xD
I’m interested in knowing what all is in the expansion besides the little bit we know currently. The rebalance in my opinion isn’t apart of the expansion as it’s happening for players if they get the expansion or not.
Oh you mean a part. Apart actually gives it the opposite meaning.
Yeah, they really need to release everything that is in the expansion. This blind buying with no character slot is ridiculous.
I wonder what Arena’s reaction would be? “We know our playerbase for the nice kittens with extra money they are, they will eat up any unfair pricing and ask for more”?
I highly doubt Anet has expected such a reaction from the ‘masses’, and if i were the boss there, i’d slap a few heads together thinking about the possible loss in revenue (the players that decided to leave and the new ones that think ‘maybe i shouldn’t buy a game that has so much controversy and trouble) and mostly , giving Anet a really bad rep. Because players really freaking out about this and seeing it on the websites everywhere, does give a bad aftertaste.
If people say ’don’t buy it, it’s not worth it’, of the 100 possible customers only 3 don’t, that’s a loss of 3% of revenue. Sure, you’ve sold 97%, but if you’d done it the smart way, you would have had it all.
If instead of adding friends to the game you tell em to stay away cause you’re going to leave it, then that too is a loss of possible revenue. Not just the buying price : the cash they spend ingame.NC Soft knows all they have to do is pay off a few journalist to mute the drama and make the consumers look like the victimizer while constantly hyping up the players with new Elite spec info and new legends for Revenant,,, then this forum will forget the drama.
Remember the long Dragon Hunter name drama? That’s completely gone now…..see how that works?
you have a rather naive perception how PR and media work. I don´t need my corporate communications background to understand this, it is really common sense. You can probably buy one journalist. Maybe, just maybe, even one medium, but chances are, someone over there will spill the beans. The backlash of such an endeavour revealed is massive. Noone in their right mind will try something like this, it is the recipe for a scorched earth scenario.
You have a degree, yet you know nothing about how the gaming media works. How odd. They are easily bought off by advertising revenue.
Random thought.. If whirlpool is now a cantrip.. Elementalists don’t have an underwater elite
How come? They dont cut Whirlpool, it just profits from cantrip traits oO

Ice Bow Frost Volley: […] Vulnerability application of this ability has been increased from 10 seconds to 15.Am I missing something here? http://i.imgur.com/55YmFTr.png
You have maxed Fire, which gives 30% increased condition duration. The bow itself also gives 20% increased condition duration, which means you have increased it from 10 to 15 seconds.
We cannot tell without the Tempest line. If it sucks though, due to Karlmir, then PvE will be all fire/air/arcane.
We never got the 150 toughness.
Was about to say ‘a useful’ as well…
When I tested Lingering Elements many moons ago, the only thing it actually worked with was Soothing Mist. It added 0-5 seconds I believe, depending on when you swapped attunements.

“Dragonite Ore Eater”, not a bad candidate for a certain upcoming class specialization, perhaps?
Dragoniteoreeaterhunter. It is high concept.
He also called them out on the FAQ thing. I don’t see how people can call WP and BO shills if they’re saying things like this. Obviously, they benefit if people say that they were the reason they pre-purchased, but that probably makes them more upset at the situation. Any reasonable people would know that merely scolding the consumers would not bring them “to the light” to pre-purchase this game; it might just take time or it might take intervention on Anet’s part to change the pricing model.
Either way, nobody wins here and they know it.
He didn’t really have the option of not mentioning that issue, when those that protest are fully aware of that, and the rest only need to scroll down to the comments. This is only damage control.
In any case, he gets money from views and a side bonus from referrals. He’s got himself covered either way, regardless of where the public opinion sways to.
If he’s covered either way, it only means he has less reason to lie. I’ve been watching his videos the past 4-5 months (since I started this account really) and he’s one of the more level-headed and informed people I’ve seen. He also has some pretty good insight and access to the 3D Tyria, which is pretty cool. I don’t have any reason to doubt him, only the marketing division (or NC Soft; jury is still out on that one).
The point is that he will get less views, hence less money, if the expansion bombs.
Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

A character slot is incredibly cheap in game. Sure it would be nice to have it included, but it’s not the end of the world. You’re litterally QQing about less than a day of farming to get the gems.
You make 160 gold a day? Please tell us how, oh great fanboy.
Entitlement is not a negative thing. American media has really ruined the word.
Also, my mate bought the game but has played less than 3 minutes. Does that mean he is paying Anet $1000 an hour?
(edited by dietzero.3514)
That is Anet’s whole plan. It is the only cost-efficient purchase.
Pyromancer’s Puissance might not be great for a power build, but I can see it being useful in a condi build, since the might would boost that. And if tempest gets sword, we may see a faster auto attack, which could may PP into a very powerful trait
If you can figure out a condition build that sits in fire, let us know. Or any condition build for that matter…

SO GUYS, HOW DID THIS WORK OUT??
Hopefully there is one more nerf/bugfix:
- Chill no longer affects Elementalist Attunement cooldowns.
We do not even know what is in the expansion, what the elite specialisations for every profession are, etc.
For all I know, the Tempest could completely suck (Karl…).

That statement about the ‘free’ core game is an obvious PR spin. This expansion does not have nearly enough content to justify the $50 price tag.

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.
this should probably be a sticky with a much fleshed out notification about what it is.
it would’ve saved you and the community a lot of grief.
But it is so obviously a lie…

Nice PR. Wonder if anyone will believe it…
Even if it was somehow true, $50 is a rip-off for how little we are getting in this expansion.
Will it be possible for elementalists to have a burning condi. meta? Right now it’s waaaaaaaaaaaay too weak. It seems kinda surprising how well guardians will perform, but I for one would welcome a burning meta, we’re… elementalists after all.
+1.
I have been trying to figure out a Burning condition build for Elementalists, but it is just impossible. It did not help that most of the ele burns were nerfed, either…
There is an in-game events forum? Crazy.
It’s not that players do not want ascended to be better, it’s that they want it to not feel grindy which it always did, especially for light classes, especially if you play more than one class, especially in fractals, and it does feel more grindy than ever with the rocketing price.
The price is relatively irrelevant in determining if its more grindy now, as long as the droprate stays the same.
He said it FEELS more grindy than ever, because of increasing prices forcing people to farm it.
Anyway, all cloth needs adjustments.
- Ice Bow Frost Volley: Damage increased by 25%. Vulnerability application of this ability has been increased from 10 seconds to 15.
- Ice Bow Frost Fan: The damage of this ability has been increased by 25%.
What’s the point of buffing skill which dealt the most aoe dmg in the game? Now ele would be MANDATORY in every dungeon/fractal run… They already are quite essential.
Those 2 are not why the bow is used. They were buffed so that maybe someone will hold the bow instead of dropping it after the Ice Storm.
I guess Guardians dev is on vacation in Jamaica. Very disappointed.
Guardian, Thief and Elementalist are done by the same guy.
Ranger—nerf —nerf -- nerf.
Maybe one day anet will listen to their paying customers instead of giving them the 5 finger salute. But Anet knows best.
A five finger salute is a normal salute…
From the open world? So how do WvWers get them?
As long as they limit emote spam. Tired of having crazies spam 100 a second.
good random dodge rolls were annoying maybe now people will be more conservative about using dodges
We don’t know how A.I. will compensate for this change though. In some fights, two dodges isn’t enough.
This might make people switch out traits and sigils, for more vigor now. It’s just going to be a pain having to swap out builds for all these changes without any build templates. This might not be needed so we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s good or not.
Was referring to pvp. I haven’t done a dungeon/fractal in years. I don’t see the issue really the a.i is predictable
That is the entire point…
The AI is given giant AoE attacks of death that must be dodged, especially by the low health professions. Less vigour means less dodges.
Did acrobatic thief and d/d else just die cause of that vigor change?
Ele got hit hard by it, but thief has a new Acrobatics minor:
Endless Stamina: The effects of vigor on you are enhanced by 50%.
This will be one of the best changes on the class balance.
But it is not an even nerf across all professions. Some have more access to it, and some rely on it more.
And as it happens, the classes that rely the most on it, namely Thief/Engi/Ele are all at the top of the food chain and can take a nerf to their survivability without it hurting them overly much.
I take it you mean in PvP, seeing as you said Engi. Who knows what pvp balance will be like after all these changes and the celestial nerf…
PvE, though…Eles are evidently getting a melee sword, so unless it comes with a zillion blocks and evades, they are going to die a lot.
