VIGOUR NERF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any compensation for professions who use this as their main defense? Maybe hitpoint re-scaling?
Vigor: Decreased the endurance regeneration rate from 100% to 50%.
Saved? I guess if saved means strengthening existing builds, while killing off fringe builds, then sure…
Written in Stone is the far better option here.
You have to remember that condition scaling was changed. The damaging conditions of non-condition builds are going to be much weaker.
Exactly this. With 0 investment into Condi damage, condis are gonna be nearly useless. Condis are being completely rescaled so that, in order to maintain the current ‘0-spec’ condi damage, will require a minimum of 700 C.Dam. This means that might stacking will be much less useful, as stats have been removed from the trait lines (this includes the +C.Dur from Power lines). The scaling will be drastically improved with more than 700 C.Dam. With the recent Might nerf, +750 C.Dam (25 Might) will be equal to what we have now at zero investment. Removing the condi cap will balance this out I feel though. (I.e. needed C.Dam from might but excellent condition stacking as compered to before the nerf.)
The saving grace here is the the direct damage of Zerk/Sin specs will have direct damage buffed VERY nicely, thank to non-damage stats being removed from traits and normalized to gear!!! Omg IKR!!! This means our meta Zerker DPs/team support builds are getting HUGE buffs. (PS Warrior w/o sacrificing any DPS stats!?! O.O)
I’ll add more to my line of reasoning here in a while.
I believe they said that 700 was exactly the same in the new and old system. Anything over will do more damage than now, while anything under will do less.
Hopefully you can tame charr.
You have to remember that condition scaling was changed. The damaging conditions of non-condition builds are going to be much weaker.
Thief specialization: Fencer (sword off-hand)
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: dietzero.3514
Sword / Dagger is way more fencer-y than Sword / Sword, off-hand sword is very unwieldy. It’s the reason why a main-gauche existed and why the daisho combat style usually used a wakizashi quite a bit smaller than the katana.
I was going to say that I couldn’t imagine the thief’s F1 changing that much because all existing traits have to work with it, no matter what specialization a thief uses. However, looking at the traits the thief will have after the specialization update, I don’t see that big of a problem.
This. A fencer would be sword dagger, or just a single sword. Dual swords is not a fencer at all.
fun fact: if you commonly have enemies located near the top of the screen (near their health bars) and you use a ground targeted skill while your mouse is on their health bar instead of the enemy itself, the targeting ring defaults to centered on your character.
intended or not, who knows… but useful for classes that have both offensive and defensive gtaoe skills.
+1 million.
I HATE THIS MECHANIC!!!
Condition/power/precision will be the new meta!!!!!!
The food would probably be like the Ram Festival food.
I think that if there is any catch involved with this change, it will be the frequently mentioned “Make it apply to self only” nerf, but I actually believe that there will be no change, as the main reason to run Arcana has always been to pick up the 2 EA’s and Renewing Stamina.
I think the worst option would be to put selfish EA as a minor trait and a major GM trait would make it aoe. Then, elementalist would be still forced into Arcana and still lose the support it needs if it wants to compete with shoutbow. It would make a sense, they need to come up with a new trait for a GM slot. And we would still be stuck with useless master traits.
Don’t worry people!!! Lyssa’s avatar on earth ( Robert gee our Lord and savior cough cough) won’t let anything that bad happen to any class! A nerf to the duration might happen but I’m sure Robert won’t allow anyone to mess up his balance ideas by nerfing anyone too hard. If anything the best way to nerf tank eles and the cele meta is to add more boon rip to the game which, by making necromancer more viable would occur.
Karlmir is in charge of eles.

Looks like they changed it to an Arcane minor trait:
Probably replacing Arcane Precision, which is quite possibly the worst trait in the game.
It was just how Guild Wars was coded. You had to work around the rubberbanding.
(Squeals like little girl)
Ele is saved! Praise the Six, the Spirits, the Eternal Alchemy, and the Pale Tree!Inb4 they remove all good traits and replace them with downstate and aura traits. Enjoy!
I have too much faith in the many Guild Wars 2 gods to accept the reality of that.
Even Kormir?
Until they are actually released we can’t know this. We have seen glimpses of changes made, and every time they have shown us stuff they have been rather clear that it is not final and might change quite a bit before release.
It is actually very likely that they will do quite many changes to existing skills. Especially considering the fact that certain changes that are being made REQUIRE them to change the skills as well.
It is Anet. Do I really need to say more?
Because they have already shown most of the traits, and it takes an act of God for Anet to actually change something once they have shown it.
Traits != Skills.
So you are ok with the Ventari traits DOMINATING the traits of other professions, as long as skills are brought up to Revenant level?
Anyway, Anet will barely touch existing skills. They balance the game once a year, so that would clearly be too much work for them.
What makes you so sure they are not also changing the vanilla professions with HoT?
It is in fact very likely that many skills will be rather different with all these changes.
Because they have already shown most of the traits, and it takes an act of God for Anet to actually change something once they have shown it.
Not really but the human eye can only see 60 fps anyway.
Someone just had to bring it up. The human eye can spot and process a flash image up to around 220hz. On a monitor, frame movement depends on pixel movements, which is not the same as “seeing” fps. Your eye does not see in fps. You can have a static image at 1 fps or 1000 fps and the eye couldnt tell the difference. In a high movement scene 60fps on 60hz vs 144fps on 144hz… It most definetly can.
+1
Now wait a sec, is it 100% confirm that You MUST be in Ventari to use staff on Revenant?
I don’t think it’s confirmed at all, actually.
The reverse in fact. The staff is just one of the weapon options of the Revenant and Ventari is just one of the legendary stance options of the Revenant. Although they fit together thematically, you in no way have to use them together.
Now wait a sec, is it 100% confirm that You MUST be in Ventari to use staff on Revenant?
Wasn’t confirmed and isn’t likely required. Ventari is no where strong enough to be their Elite Spec.
1. Elite specs are not stronger than normal specs.
2. Elite specs do not have to use their related weapon.
1. He meant Ventari himself was not strong enough or impressive enough to be the elite spec.
2. Elite specs are the only ones allowed to use the elite spec weapon, which would have meant staff if Ventari was the elite spec.
Call it The Nameless.
This isn’t broken or silly at all. /sarcasm
The power creep is already coming with specilizations with a lot of the really good and useful traits being put in proper spots and complete reworks of useless lines. This would make PvP properly broken.
PvE it just adds even more damage to what we can pump out now so proper parties will have even more trivialized content.
WvW don’t even mention how many already broken roaming builds get stronger.
If they did allow stat allocation obviously it’d need a cap you could put on each stat, but I don’t see why they would do it to begin with.
How would it add even more damage to PvE, compared to Anet’s method of buffing gear? His method of diminishing returns on stats would most likely come out to less damage than Anet’s…
PvP and WvW would also have some interesting customisation, as long as Anet actually balances it more than once every 2 years.
Yeah, because that’s not going to get unbalanced.
Pretty sure it is Anet’s job to balance it…
Look! There’s my point going right over your head.
They DID. By not letting players allocate it
.
See, Nike got it.
Your point is always ‘Anet is right and this is too hard’. It is getting stale.
A new way of stat customisation would be nice. Especially in PvP and WvW.
It will also provide the Rev with much-needed mobility in combat.
How do you know that? :O
Well, its a centuar for one thing, and everything related to Centuars in game is about speed…so if they keep up that theme…
Pretty sure I could outrun a Centaur.
They DID. By not letting players allocate it
.
Amusing.
Maybe in the next expansion they will ‘balance’ the game further by removing stats, and just have us select power, condition or tank.
Yeah, because that’s not going to get unbalanced.
Pretty sure it is Anet’s job to balance it…

In my view, Elemental Attunement is getting a buff via the projected update. Half of its benefit is baseline, and the other half no longer costs stat points. At this point, the question becomes whether the actual trait choices (minor and major) justify the investment.
Elemental Attunement is a trait. You are confusing it with Attunement Recharge Rate.
There are a lot of sets nobody uses. This one is not special.
Fix them all IMO.
They will do another pass in 2 years.
The original Guild Wars is perhaps the king of rubberbanding.
Since the number one thing our characters are going to be doing in their lifetimes is hunt the elder dragons down and kill them, I think this name is fairly appropriate. I like the way it sounds and I like the focus on the greatest threat to Tyria of our time.
So everyone is a Dragonhunter?
Well, everyone, every class is a warrior because they all kill and fight things, but no one seems bothered by only one class being singled out as a warrior. Not sure if this is what you meant, but it seems to work the same.
The difference is SPECIALISATION.

So everyone is a Dragonhunter?
I am pretty sure it is going to need the 500 stacks of Seaweed I have just put up.
I believe they took the week off to come up with new names. After the negative backlash to the Dragonhunter name, Dragonstabber, Dragonpuncher, and Dragonmechanic had to be changed.
[Suggestion]Some Traits should be Masteries
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

The fall traits could be combined into masteries. The others are too strong in PvP, so should probably be combined into better traits.
Ele is the strongest level 80 profession. Not the quickest leveler, though.

I’m going to take a wild guess and say you’ve never played it.
He’s quite right. That profession is never balanced properly, it’s either overpowered or underpowered and anet balance team has no idea how to make that class tick. The next patch will swing the pendulum to the underpowered side for about a year.
He wants eles nerfed to the ground. That is not balance.
A bit. Fortunately, my main is not a Guardian. Unfortunately, Karl will probabky butcher my Elementalist main.
“I’m a Reader, and I get to tell you the Author you’re WRONG about your world setting and you have to listen because I bought your book and you want me to by your next book too!”
People write fantasy and sci-fi settings instead of contemporary fiction specifically to NOT have to put up with (much of) that sort of nonsense.
One of the worst posts I have ever seen. Writing your own work does not suddenly make everything you write gold, nor does it somehow make you immune to criticism. Rubbish is still rubbish.
Smooth Penguin likes creating thought-provoking threads. Some of SP’s posts are more effective at this than others. Regardless, don’t over-analyze. I’m sure SP isn’t “above” spiking the market, but I wouldn’t bet on whether SP stands to personally gain.
Oh his threads are certainly…special.

Anyway, they need to nerf Elemental Attunment and then bake it in.
Because you are a well known trading post troll?
How much silver, gold and platinum did you just list?
Why are people arguing with Obtena?
The naming policy isn’t complicated. You break it, you deal with the consequences.
Some people have trouble accepting that the rules apply to them. If you’re one of those, be glad the lesson didn’t cost much. I have friends who had to learn it in a courtroom.
Wow…overreact much?
Complaining about a name change isn’t overreacting? When the naming policy is clearly spelled out and even the forums censor the name? Meh.
You honestly do not see how ridiculous your comparison was?
Dont think it matters, it got the point across. You broke the rules, deal with it. Well, not really you, but the OP.
Name being changed in a game, to ending up in court…
Yeah, not ridiculous at all…
Breaking the rules is breaking the rules.
Getting a name change is totally the same thing as appearing in court on criminal charges. The comparison is not at all stupid and overboard.
Almost every trait is being changed or moved around in some way and the changes arent even final yet, so its kind of pointless to talk about builds before the xpac happens (and btw, its not going to be a “nerf”, its just going to change builds around)
But for now you are prob better running 0/0/6/4/4 or 0/0/2/6/6 if you want to be tanky. The 4 in fire doesnt give you that much damage and you get more cleanses overall from cleansing wave (1 every 10s) than burning fire (3 every 40s)
The changes are coming before the expansion, and Anet also very rarely changes anything after they announce it.

When did he get his last name?
Would play with:
- Paladin: Mending+Breeze+Healing Hands (think of a longer-lasting Defiant Stance)
- DragonPuncher: It’s not even high concept anymore, it’s shrooms tier. (loving it)
- Double Horns: Vuvuzela power
Would not play with:
- Spess Mehreen (I’m neither bald nor a hair-etic)
Oh dear God, vuvuzela spec…
