So, if a pve’er goes into wvw and starts taking camps, towers, keeps, etc. and killing hundreds of players, are they still just a pve’er?

If my job was to balance a video game, and my one of my sources of feedback was forums to help me do my job, i can asure you i would seriously not give in to the doom and gloom crap. You need to give un-biased conversations for a-net dev’s to read, not this subjective crap that you guys continually pour out day in and day out. Anet devs are PEOPLE like you guys are! not mindless machines that take demands from a small portion of angry customers. Put good in, get good out.
Could we at least talk about ride the lightning and express our concerns for it in a non-emotional way?

Do you think you’re the first one to say the current iteration of rtl is bad? Do you think no one has made this thread before? Do you think this wasn’t asked about the second the information about the nerf was mentioned of the live stream where the devs lied and said it wouldn’t go on the high cd if evaded/blocked?

You’re sitting here saying hurr durr let’s be constructive guys! and not even realizing that this has been covered hundreds if not thousands of times before. There’s nothing more to go over, nothing more to say. The devs aren’t sitting there unaware that rtl is a problem. They aren’t just waiting for someone to come along and say please before they fix it.

The reason the devs won’t say a single word about rtl is because they know anything they said would make them look worse than not saying anything at all. You can try to have your little unbiased discussions all you want, but if you actually expect anything to come of them, you’re kidding yourself.

I have to give a shout out to KH from TC, you guys are an absolute pain to deal with but i have to thank you for wiping us over and over again. It’s better to reinforce the notion that the new PvE’ers who are testing Wvwers to get tankier gear and training in WVW if they are repeatedly wiping.

Maybe if you told new players who are struggling to get better instead of just going ptv and facetanking damage zergers wouldn’t be so god awful.

I always watch a round or two every time a tournament is announced, but end up closing it pretty fast. I really do want to enjoy watching this game. but it just isn’t a good viewing experience.

They said it’d go on the shorter cd even if blocked/evaded, but then on release it didn’t, and they have yet to fix that or even say a single word about it. Sadly, this is anet. Knee jerk, lie, and then ignore. That’s the only expectation I can have without being disappointed.

Gold league is lol. 40 man zergs just roaming around, not even taking stuff. Looking for good fights, I’m sure.

D/P blind spam is ridiculous. Browsing over this thread, I have to wonder how many of these people have actually played against decent thieves, and how many are just saying what they think happens at higher levels of play.

Played with this a bit tonight but really wasn’t impressed. Maybe with a fresh air build it’d be better, but I really don’t see any use at all in this skill for any other build.

I think it’s pretty plain where it’s coming from. Anytime someone from RET fights me, they get destroyed, now they are chasing me around for extended periods, adding on fights every chance they get, etc. I mean it’s fine; it’s been a while but I’ve been matched against FA before, I know what to expect from you guys. Just laughing at it a bit.

Please show me where the good players are in Silver league. All I’ve seen is wall after wall of AC fire and 20-man guild groups omni-blobbing because we wipe them once or twice open-field. Almost the entirety of the GvG community is now in Gold league (FA I still consider you T2 because ily long time and SBI is going to implode spectacularly soon), so there’s really no point in being in Silver.

People don’t seem to understand that Mag really doesn’t care about winning. We want to sit in a keep and farm JQ blobs for hours on end, GvG good guilds, and have fun. None of that is in Silver league.

I honestly don’t think silver would be so incredibly bad. It’d be worse than being in gold, but most of the matches wouldn’t be so massively disproportionate as to be completely unenjoyable. And, there’s the fact that the players in silver are better than the players in gold. Gold will offer endless opportunities to fight larger groups, but if you ever want a challenge from an equal number of opponents, I doubt you’ll have much luck.

You can really tell who the people are who transferred to Mag when and because it got big.

The one with air change is interesting. Will have to see how it plays out in actual fights, but I wouldn’t underestimate it yet.

Change Arcane Energy to Renewing Stamina. You’ll get a lot more bang out of permanent vigor than the very occasional returns from arcane wave/signet heal. Looks fairly standard otherwise. If you are wanting to go boon duration for runes, then you want 2 traveler, 2 monk, and 2 water, giving you 45%.

I think one of the biggest problems this game faces is that the pvp devs have guaranteed pay checks from pve. If their livelihood was based on balance, controlling exploits, releasing features in a timely fashion, etc., I think the game would be in a very different place.

They may “care,” but when they can simply take three months off, ignore everything the players say, turn a blind eye to an exploit destroying the only reward system that exists, and not have to worry about any repercussions whatsoever, there isn’t the kind of incentive there that a small studio faces.

I’m sure they justify it by telling themselves they are taking their time to do it right, but when everything they do is as buggy and incomplete as a tiny studio working paycheck to paycheck yet takes twice as long, well, there’s something not right.

It isn’t a hack, it’s just anet’s usual quality standards. Have had it happen tons of times.

Giving this a bump in the hope that the dev who made these runes gets fired. Sadly, anet, being incompetent, rewards incompetence. Willing to bet the geniuses in charge are thinking LOL WOW LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE RUNNING PERPLEXITY RUNES GOOD JOB BRO EVERYONE LOVES IT.

Consider individual skill tends to be inversely proportional to server tier, I don’t know what you are expecting, unless you’re saying you want to see videos of eles in blobs fighting blobs.

I have run into people using perplexity runes on every class in the game. Seriously anet. Stop being so kittening lazy, do your jobs, and nerf these runes.

Why should we give you constructive feedback? You never act on it. You completely ignore everything players tell you because you are 100% sure you know better than the people who actually play the game because of your magical metrics, despite how many times that has gone wrong for you.

Are we supposed to be impressed by these recent posts you guys have been making? Ya, no thanks. It’s just like when Sharp made his big ole post talking about how much anet cared and how much you are doing. I said then and I’ll say now, your words mean nothing. Results are what matter.

You want constructive feedback? Then do something that shows us there is actually a point to it, and that giving it to you isn’t just a waste of time. Not more empty posts. Actual changes to the game.

So all trash talk aside, my take on these 2 servers

Magumma: To be honest mag has some good blobbing guilds, had some good gvg’s and fights with VR and Ark (before they got interrupted) They also have some decent roamers in Aon even though you guys tend to run in groups far larger then a typical roaming group ( apart from Aon all the mag roaming guilds are terrible, just look at swag lolololol)

FA: Has by far the worst player skill per player of any server ive faced (and i think ive faced everyone but T1 at this point.) Just awful on every level, from large group to small man to solo. I dont think FA is tanking this matchup i just think there so terribad that when they cant zerg down another group 3 to 1 they just get crushed

Yak’s Bend. FA is terrible, but I have yet to see another server as sad as YB.

Considering anet hates roamers and everything they stand for, I don’t think there’s much point in coming up with ideas for how anet could encourage the playstyle.

I’m always amazed people are gullible enough to believe devs when they give the whole ‘different teams so no conflict!’ spiel. The devs have mentioned many times being hindered by the fact that they need people who are shared among all the teams. There may be specific teams for different parts of the game, but they don’t do jack kitten without the people that work on all areas, and guess which area gets most of their focus? And that’s not even taking into account the fact that, while there may be different teams, it doesn’t mean the teams are equal in size or scope.

This matchup in general just seems to be pretty sad. I have yet to run into a noteworthy opponent.

Honestly, I think the best way to monetize pvp is to just cut the bullkitten. If they put up an option that let us buy gems with the money going towards some more developers so patches didn’t take a quarter of a year to release, I and many others would spend some money on it.

This is silly. You should give yourself every advantage possible. If you aren’t feeling challenged with them, it’s wvw; go find a bigger group to fight. If you are gimping yourself in the hope of a “fair” fight, you don’t understand roaming, and would likely be happier in a spvp duel server.

If churning earth landed reliably, it’d be incredibly overpowered. It’s one of the few elementalist skills that you really have to think about using.

It’s just a balancing pass, people. If you hype it beyond what it’s supposed to be, of course it’s going to seem underwhelming.

A quick balance pass is acceptable when patches comes once or twice a month. This patch took what, three and a half months? If they can’t make a massive patch in more than a quarter of a year, what exactly are they spending their time doing? What justifies them releasing smaller patches at a slower rate than every other MMO company out there?

Oh, high rated players think balance is great? Is that why there’s such a great variety of builds with all classes reasonably represented at high level tpvp and tournaments? Well, I guess I can put my concerns to rest then now that I know.

Of course it’s not going to change anything. Every time there’s been a massive pvp saving patch, it’s ended up being entirely underwhelming, leaving everyone to wonder, how in the world did this take so long to do, and why is it so broken and buggy despite that?

If you are optimistic about anything anet does, you will be disappointed. Keep your expectations nonexistent, and at least when the “massive” patch that just has a few meaningless balance changes and a couple tool tip improvements comes out, it won’t be a surprise. And, if on the extremely off chance anet actually releases a patch on par with any other company in the industry, well, it’ll be like Christmas.

How to catch ele? Play almost any other class in the game. Our mobility is so bad now it’s not exactly hard.

That is the downside of being on a highish tier server. It’s much less about beating skilled opponents in even numbers, and much more about seeing how many bads you can kill at once.

It is fairly amusing. Anet has been dangling better pvp rewards incoming for a while now, and yet they turn a blind eye to these farms which are making it so that when those rewards are actually in, people who exploited a terrible map will be massively far ahead of people who played the game legitimately. If you ever needed proof that anet doesn’t care about the playerbase, this should do it.
