Fractured patch was 2 years ago. Rings obtained before then cannot be Attuned.
A daily for 1-20, 21-50, 51-75 and 76-100 would be amazing.
Otherwise someone slap me please, I think I’m dreaming because this is great news.@Yelloweyedemon: Adding toughness doesn’t make things more challenging, it makes them more tedious. All it did was changing zerker (which isn’t even 100% applicable anymore since there’s classes better played on condi) meta into a condi-meta, which is literally the same thing just with another name and more restricting.
IMO a better system would be having a recommended daily for each 10 scales (1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71-80, 81-90, 91-100). This would mean no picking the easiest fractals, and more chances for rewards (which would have to not completely suck of course). Also would mean getting your daily reward after only 1 fractal instead of 3, so if you have little time you can still be rewarded.
Can we please get some actual numbers instead of just “increased”?
You left the fractal too early. Wait until you see the continue screen to get your page chest.
We can dream…
:(
The idea of doing Fractal 1-10 dailies for 4 to 6 more weeks makes me sick.
5 min runs- free loot- free progression
why complain?
Because it’s too easy and boring.
New SAB stuff has been showing up in the .dat for over a year now. Don’t get your hopes up.
while the challenge mote for thaumanova is 20min on lvl 15 this ingame text suggests that it once was 5min http://i.imgur.com/jJTQ8Hf.png i wonder why they changed it
Too confusing for new players.
Just like last time they said they increased the Fractal rewards and it turned out they actually made them worse.
Old magic find rings or rings obtained before the Fractured update cannot be attuned.
Could you maybe record a quick video of a bossfight where the boss only averages 2-3 different boons? Would be nice to see some confirmation of your claims.
There is no amount of boonstripping that can clear the boons a full zerk team generates on mobs with this instability. I haven’t tested it, but I am fairly confident in saying that a mesmer in zerk gear who is autoattacking with sword (which has a boon strip on the 3rd skill) would not be able to strip the boons it is generating with it’s own attacks.
The only way to “counter” this instability is to wear gear which does not have precision as a stat. This will mean your damage goes down the drain, any build that relies on on crit effects is extremely hampered (read: every build) and more importantly, everyone in your team will have to acquire a new set of ascended gear (armor, weapons, trinkets) just for the 20 levels that feature this instability.
Not what I would call great design.
But you haven’t tried it, and don’t quite get the build.
This is something we (well one of the others) figured out to try in the first 5 minutes of us doing the new fractals (doing the 50 right after HOT released). The Mesmer takes a fairly substantial dps drop because you’re not using damage phantasms, but the net party gain is enormous.
Of course the cleansing isn’t perfect, but it avoids the normal zerk party fury/retal/25 might/10 stability/protection/occasional aegis issue that you get in the 41-50 bracket otherwise.
~~~
Honestly this goes directly to my point. People never even tried to be creative in dealing with the instability, but instead tried to haedbutt it to death and then complain about it.
I have tried it, its pointless, null field is pulsing, mind stab is 1/3 strikes and arcane theivery has a cool down.
There is nothing you can do if even two people in your party have crit damage.
You’re gonna feel silly when you read lower down.
dude, go in there, try it, it is not worthwhile, i have done it, disenchanter attacks once every 3-4 seconds.
they get a boon with every single crit attack. There is no boon strip fast enough. You are better off ignoring it entirely and focusing on your normal builds.Its not hard, its just not very effective to alter your playstyle for boon removal. Go, play the level, try it out, and then try it with your normal playstyle ignoring boons.
I have you goofball, in fact we did it again tonight to get a guy that just came back his 50 fractal for the fractal chests.
The fact that you guys don’t think this will work and are SOOOOO sure that it won’t work and so sure I"m lying is freaking hilarious.
How many players in your team run zerker or assassin gear and crit-based builds?
I’m just glad they aren’t banning people for abusing obviously unintended prices on merchants.
Here are my thoughts on the new fractals.
To start on a positive note, the first run to 100 was enjoyable. I liked progressing again and seeing the new instabilities and mechanics. But now that it is behind me and I have ran fractal dailies for a few days, I have the following comments:
Toughness scaling and lower damage
At higher scales bosses have so much toughness that it takes ages to kill them. I used a condi engineer but my damage was still low. Couple this with lower damage from all boss attacks (Mai Trin at 100 does less damage than she did on old level 50) and it makes most fights tedious and boring. I don’t think I will ever repeat 80+ scales unless it is necessary for a daily achievement.
Mistlock Instabilities
When they announced each scale would only be 1 island, and that they would be able to better tune the mistlock instabilities this way, I got really excited. I thought each scale would have a unique mistlock which would fundamentally change the way the fractal was played. Oh how wrong I was. The mistlock instabilities are extremely uninspired, RNG-reliant and sometimes even punishing good play (dodging removes boons – really?). They do not feel like a challenge to be overcome, they just feel like an annoyance. For most of them you could not even change your build or tactics to “outplay” the instabilities, you just have to suffer the consequences.
I liked the Fractal Avenger that pops up on 71+ when you down that tries to finish you. This is in my opinion a cool new mechanic that actually gives additional depth to the gameplay instead of just annoying the player with random conditions and boon removal. I want to see more things like the Avenger!
Daily Achievements
I have ran all dailies since launch and still working on the achievement for 21-50 scales, but I already feel like the daily system is much worse now. The recommended dailies are always low scales (not sure if that is to stay) and we just blitz through them with almost no regard for mechanics or whatsoever. Same goes for the 1-20 achievement. On low level snowblind, after being teleported by the Elemental Source, we did not even have enough time to get back to the middle before it was killed by the condis still on it. There is no challenge whatsoever present in these low tier dailies.
For the 51-100 dailies we have done Swamp (56), Jade Maw (60) and another one around these scales depending on what we felt like. Fractals at 80+ are just too long and tedious to do every day so we just opt for the fastest ones at lower scales. Not like you get a better reward from the daily achievement for higher scales, so what’s the point right?
The future of these dailies saddens me. Once we have all achievements for 1-100 we will only do the fastest fractals each day, spend about an hour speeding through low level fractals where everything dies incredibly fast and deals almost no damage, then do the higher tier where everything takes longer to kill than on old 50 but deals less damage so still not posing any threat. At least old 50 was a little challenging and you had to actually pay attention.
Rewards
Right now, rewards seem very lackluster. I can’t give any numbers but having to buy keys to open boxes that have pretty much only crap inside doesn’t entice me. I have gotten some rings but no armor/weapon chests or skins yet.
All in all I feel like Fractals has gotten significantly worse after these changes and once I have the legendary backpack I will probably not play them anymore, at least not daily.
It only took 3 years, but it is finally here:
ArenaNet does listen to us!
Patch notes say the vendor is enabled again, but it is still disabled for me.
What is this doing in the 2nd page!?
… sooooo, which golden weapon should I pick? Which is the least ugly?
They are all ugly. I picked the sword to make Sandy jealous.
now have 9 full stacks of +1’s… starting a 10th stack… taking a ton of my bp space hostage while I wait for it to work again
I’m betting that the merchant was not suppose to be cheaper than artificer. There was a thread on reddit the night it got disabled talking about how you should never use artificer once you unlock the merchant. They probably saw that and realized it was a bug.
you have to EVENTUALLY artifice again, you’re using a mastery point to get these bonuses in the first place, after +21, it’s back to using artificer, and that comes sooner than you think. something like 184,300 +1’s, can be farmed pretty easily or bought from tp.
279,936 +1 infusions if my math is correct.
I think you misread the post, it shows that you DO get the rune back from salvaging ascended armor pieces.
I do not know if it is 100% since I only tried once.
With the introduction of the new Viper’s gear, I have decided to swap the stats on my Sinister set to Viper’s. Sadly this means the end of 6 Aristocracy runes which will be a pain to obtain now that dungeons are dead. I then wondered if salvaging ascended armor would give you the rune back. I tested it with one of my leftover chests from Fractals:
It seems that salvaging ascended armor does give you the rune back. I would assume this also works for weapons.
I don’t think the intention was for you to spend your Laurels and salvage those items. That’s an incredibly expensive way to go about it.
The point was that you get lots of free rings/amulets doing Fractals and you should be salvaging those if you are working on the Legendary.
You don’t get amulets from fractals. Only rings and armor/weapons, although I do not know if you can still get armor/weapons after the recent changes.
Can anyone confirm that it is possible to get (account) bank and trading post access in the guild hall? If so, what upgrades do you need for it?
Old Magic Find rings cannot be put in the forge. Also rings that were obtained before the Fractured patch cannot be put in the forge. If you have either of those you will have to get new ones.
People getting kitten about fractals progression past 50 when they don’t even have elite specs unlocked yet really makes my day.
Going into a 50+ fractal and partying with people with mastery level 30+ (hi CoF farmers) who aren’t even elite specced yet always makes me laugh. Bit premature there.
I dunno how you guys plan to do high fracs with just the base classes to begin with, unless your plan is just to be carried by HoT players.
Missing the entire point of this thread which is to criticize anet requiring HoT to progress in fractals.
Also people have already reached level 100 without any elite specs whatsoever.
It’s nice to see you back to trolling the forums after all this time though.
It’s done!
Grats! What’s the secret SC was talking about?
At like 50% HP, Mai Trin resets and spawns her “crew”.. iirc, the crew were 4 elite mobs, where 1 could 1 shot you! After you killed the crew, you have to drop her from 100% HP to 0 without any more phases.
After the last cannon phase she resets her HP and spawns 3 elite mobs. One does the teleport attack mai trin has, another is a mace guardian and another does vaults/burning speed. Her health will be full again but she does not have any more cannon phases.
I actually found the health reset really annoying because at that level bosses have so much toughness, it was just a snoozefest after we killed the mobs without cannon phases/kiting her into the fields.
There’s actually new bugs, some things that used to be solid now aren’t anymore (molten facility drill, thaumanova forcefield in the turret room).
It’s very easy on the low levels.
We did it on level 20 to also get another achievement (do Jade Maw at level 20).
Life steal is still possible.
Source: personal experience
It sounds like they might reduce gold reward for dungeons but increase it for fractals. Still a giant kitten move though. We understand you do not want to develop dungeons further, and I’m pretty sure everyone here has made their peace with it. But don’t kitten us over any more please. We still like doing the dungeons and removing the rewards will effectively remove them from the game.
That red Super Rifle would look sweet on my Engineer.
Guess raids are dead again now. Nice record
Dungeon records are dead. Raid lyfe
That would be great, my ele doesn’t do condi very well. Lets hope they manage to fix all the bugs before the weekend is over.
Have to say the whole thing bugging out and being disabled has really left me in a bad mood. I was really hyped to try this kitten out but it took us about 30 minutes to even get inside the raid because of the kittenshow that is the new squad system. I really hoped this time could be different but we are still dealing with good old Anet it seems.
Unavoidable damage is incredibly uninteresting and lazy. Only vulnerable to condi falls in the same category for me tbh.
People who did not have a clue about how the game worked attributed the DPS meta to Ice Bow. Of course nothing changes, besides Elementalists not slotting Ice Bow anymore.
Have you ever considered you are the exception, not the rule?
Fractals confirmed dead content?
I found the original funny because it was unexpected. Just from the title of this post I already knew it was going to be a parody of the original and knew exactly what to expect, which pretty much ruined the humorous effect for me.
They have said that personal levels won’t be reset with HoT, on reddit I think. I’ll try to find it.
(edited by dutchiez.7502)
Not very original.
Maybe it’s time to realize that development on dungeons has pretty much come to a complete stop and complaining on the forums isn’t going to change anything.
the challenge in raiding comes from learning complex stuff fast and finding answers and patterns + the teamplay. its possible to make bosses so hard that no one will ever kill them without challenging the individual player.
for example this fight doesnt require much individual skill. but in the second phase the coordination and teamplay required is so insane, that no one except enigma killed this boss in this form. and every other guild and even the devs said its impossible to kill it.
you have to kill all orbs before you run out of shields, players will get rooted, if the roots overlap the players will die. if like 2 players die you wont have enough dps. the only way to protect the players with the roots is using a shield. each player has 1 shield which can be used once, the flame wave one shots everything, unless you use a shield.
Remember that this is ArenaNet and they don’t do things like typical MMOs. You can’t already compare GW2 raids to “typical” raids like Wildstar and WoW. They are going to be very different.
So it has been confirmed by a Dev that the party will not be kicked when wiped.
thats pretty obvious isnt it? it would be bad game design. if the content is halfway decent and challenging, you will wipe more than 10 times. probably around 50-60 times at least per boss. and now imagine you are fighting the third boss in the wing, you wipe, because its your first pull and you have to start all over again. how terrible and annoying would that be?
Guild Wars 1 did this in it’s Elite Areas (and to an extent, all Hard Mode areas) and it was great! You actually had to keep your kitten together to survive. The difficulty of these areas was also very high, so high that the first time I entered DoA I wiped on the first pack of trash mobs.
“Small clarification. It’s on an encounter basis. You can not swap anything around during a singular attempt. You may refine your strategy between wipes.”
between wipes does that mean there will be waypoints in the dungeon and you won’t be kicked out upon full party wipe?
It will definitely be interesting to try to work around the build-lock in the beginning while figuring out the bosses and their mechanics. It’s different from what we have now and that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I think we should wait and see before passing judgement on this.
Before GW2 launched I was of the opinion that we should be build locked in dungeons, but I don’t think that anymore. I do feel like build-locking sounds weird and annoying, but after actually playing the raids there’s a big possibility that I will change my mind about it, like I did about the regular dungeons.
So do you think with HOT being released october 23rd, we could get some info on where SAB is on the list of things to work on after that? I’m assuming they won’t be able to work on anything but fixing the problems with HOT until at least a month probably two later. So january 2016, what are the plans to work on?
Can’t see anything happening earlier than April Fools 2016.
HoT release will keep them busy for at least 3 months, fixing and patching. SAB has always been a background project so even after that I doubt it would get high on the priority list.
