15-20 will wipe most zergs but the numbers are not enough to wipe a full map queue zerg. Not enough spreading of damage from aoe cap and too little healing unless there is massive cleric gear, but then you wont kill anything.

The nice thing about facing TC, similar to what nick said above is that a LOT of them run gear with little to no defensive stats. Half of a large pug zerg will melt on the first push. We may still get overwhelmed by numbers, but lots of bags drop before that. And with outnumbered who cares. I think I made 4-5 gold last night.

I wasn’t this thief(havent really played my thief other than for farming lately) but I personally dont bother running if I try to snipe someone from stealth and they beat me up. They did well and deserve the bag I brought them. A thief running away in stealth lost a fight just as much as one who died. Now if someone comes to help them I’ll disappear unless I think I can take both.

Thought id say good fights last night in EBG. Might I give some pointers to you guys on Yaks and Kaineng.

Yaks.. you guys had a MONSTER zerg last night.. why did you take towers and your keep back yet you abandon it for nothing? You left everything you took defenseless and we recaped them in no time. With the numbers you had you could have done a lot more, the golem rushes were pretty good but you guys didnt use mesmer portals to speed them up very well, we were able to pick them off fairly easy. When it comes to your zerg, you all scatter to the 4 winds when you meet resistance, try to stack up, share buffs and stability when you charge in, several times I took a group half as big and destroyed the integrity of your zerg due to that. You all had a hell of a zerg, just got to learn how to control it!

To kain and yaks, learn how to do defensive tactics, make sure you siege up your towers and especially the keep to defend against attacks. Im sure you were low on supply but yaks, you guys took camp after camp and had a ton of supply yet no defenses. Its good to take stuff but holding it, is much more difficult and if you can hold towers and keeps, you will be far more successful. Also learning siege placements and knowing how to use hit and fade attacks to draw an enemy into a bad position to give you the upper hand is really important.

I am apologizing on behalf of kaineng, today we had a Mesmer attempting to port our zergs into objectives in EB, this person was caught in the act, recorded, and reported directly to ArenaNet support.

Kaineng does not tolerate hacking, we do spend extra effort to purge individuals who do this from our ranks.

ANY game mechanic in WVW that can be gained by capture that give combat stats(attack/defense/heals/) and not utility stats(+MF%, karma, etc) will have a cascade effect for the server with higher population numbers on score and overall performance.

Exactly. If the leagues stay the way they are this is just a taste of what Yak’s Bend is going to have to deal with for the 7 weeks during the season. This will be nothing compared to what will happen once we’re up against Blackgate or Jade Quarry.

JQ pulled high 600’s against us during SEA. YB is not in the same anything as JQ as far as population and they, or any other server of comparable population, should not have to endure the beatings that are coming.

On the other side of things Higher tier servers should not be forced to have a dead third server or 2 dead servers(comparative population) matched up against them. It is not fun for anyone. Kaineng is actually in a good position when the leagues come out. People may bandwagon there again for the easy wins over lower pop servers.

edit: I posted this on our forums as a joke in response to the announcement, but I think there may be more truth to what will happen after the leagues start than anyone really wants to admit.

A GvG is nothing more than an open field fight with even numbers, and you can’t get 20 people on your guild to be interested in that? It’s true. RET and RAM carry the server. HOPE is a PvE guild just testing out the WvW waters. Especially RAM, they roll 60 deep every night. RET has at least 50 in their zerg. There are other guilds in FA like APS and SIC among others, but all talent-less. You should challenge all of them to a 15v15 or 20v20 GvG. Easy bags.

Unlike most commanders, I am not really interested in the idea of epic battles of 1 on 1 skill. GvG, 15 vs. 15, with samurai swords at dawn. Instead, I follow the mantras of two of the best American military leaders. Nathan Bedford Forrest, and Douglas MaCarthur. They give two, very witty but poignent words of wisdom for any aspiring military leaders.

If I am on the field, I am not trying to test my 1 on 1 PvP skills. I am trying to beat you. That means taking towers, holding them, and wiping your zergs utilizing whatever resources I have at my disposal.

Yes, we did outnumber AGG and others in most of those fights, freely admitted. Also freely admitted, this was 100% intentional. No commander in his right mind would not utilize a numbers advantage, and any commander that did is not worth his hat.

Nah, I like Borlis, more choices. btw, I also love desperate defensive actions. Won’t get that with Jade Quarry. I suppose I’ve just had my hat on too long. I see WvW more as a game of Grand Strategy, akin to something like Europa Universalis 2. Instead of simple pieces on the game map though, its real people I can talk too. Half the time I have my map up rather then actually looking at what is going on in front of my as I plot my next maneuver and where to send the forces following me.

Guild Wars 2 is honestly a very refreshing change for a jaded Real Time Strategy gamer like myself. I don’t see this game as 1 on 1 like Call of Duty. To me, its an RTS where I also get to fight in the battles I help to arrange. Its an amazing change of perspective, and thats the way I like playing it.

Though I have been known to roam on occasion to mix it up, so please look for the red Sylvari Necromancer in white armor. We can fight sometime

I respect this attitude. Wvw is in fact a RTS game for good commanders and not some form of pvp. The PvP and open field are just small, yet fun, aspects of what the WvW game is.

Eyan and a few others decided they wanted to fight in T1 so they wouldn’t get matched up against a Borlis Pass or mags :P . Honestly the active roster of Blood Pact is 100% different than what is was 4-5 months ago when we came to Db. Mostly just attrition from the game. Also, as Gellor said, most of them went to [another game], and a lot of the people who left gw2 are back with their friends in BP in that game.

I actually quit BP over a month ago I had been running the raid schedule for a year and needed a break. They were very fun to raid in WvW with. No. This is the week AGG shows how arrogant they are. They decided to play games with the Db teamspeak so they have gotten called out on using underhanded tactics.

Specifically they tried to overpower Warsocks commands when he was wiping AGG all over the map. This has happened more than once.

Then they lost a gvg to ep because they didnt have enough Hammers or access to ep voice comms. So they then quit 15v15 GvG.

I think that sums it up. They dont deserve the respect off the battlefield that they have earned on the battlefield because of their leaders actions.

For the record: EP will definitely be doing 20v20 in the future. We’re just working on comp and tactics at the moment, until we feel comfortable with it. We know Agg is extremely strong in 20v20 & 25v25, so we’ll definitely want to go down that road. :-)

ME is the classiest guild on mags. They generally seem to keep a low profile and let the actions speak for them. Also probably the most talented too. Even with the new transfers.

Ya know, half the time I’ve been alone and openly approached 10+ people (Mags or DB) busy attacking something and waved or cheered at them to get their attention, they’ve been pretty cool about it.

That would be 3 out of 6 so far this week. The other 3 out of 6, have given me long distance running and screaming workouts, all for free!

Yeah, Mag seems very willing to just /wave and not attack and jump around having fun. I love them for that. Helps to remember that even though we’re on different servers, we’re all people who just wanna play and have fun. :P
