Anyway, I’m genuinely curious as to whether or not you’ve tried to recruit a stronger Oceanic/SEA presence. If so, what do you think went wrong? If not, maybe try to fix a perceived problem before complaining about it?

YB has had recruiting drives sure, and has an excellent reputation as far as attitude and friendliness. But this issue has been covered in past threads, where people from certain regions just say , “We all want to play together.” And reality there is not near enough Oceanic or SE Asian players to fill all the servers close to the level of Dragonbrand or SoS. Nor is this game really attracting a lot of new players at this point.

Basically people have to want to split for the sake of better competition, just like the HoD Alliance did after they won a couple straight months in T1. I have no idea how it can be challenging to roll a map every day with 100 people against 10 or 20 over and over and over. Until or unless you get bumped to T1 or T2, when then you just lose badly because your NA can’t hold up.

JQ SEA is more populated than ours or SOS. If it is JQ SOS and Db that time frame would be great but the rest of them would suck.

I personally am an FA NA member who plays on EB I can only describe Jade Bags and Dragonbags one way. Those two servers are like a baby’s butt; they are always getting wiped.

just popping in to say that the level of sportsmanship and class displayed by both jade quarry and dragonbrand (particularly the latter) has been pretty terrible so far. for players never seen outside of zergs/full guilds they’re sure fond of the /emote commands.

Then when the scores got close again (we won twice in a row) you recruited not one, but two HUGE EU guilds from EU servers to stack the zone before NA so they have T3 waypoints every night.

We have done nothing but respond to the pressure you blatantly put on our server.

JQ recruits to beat SoS. Beats SoS…SBI & SoS goes down, gives SOR the numbers to come up to T1, also gives BG the numbers for T1. JQ wins by 70K every week, BG is the first to recruit in order to beat JQ, DESPITE the fact that JQ was losing some of it’s players(EMP)… WM + RISE + Meow, wins 2 weeks by 30K. As result, SoR recruits IRON, wins 5 weeks.

I wouldn’t exactly say “SoR” caused every server to start stacking.

Look again. I said exactly your timeline.

I didn’t say JUST SoR. Its both. JQ was the first super stacked server after transfers shut off. People thought they would never be beaten. In fact a few servers died because of it.

However, SOR and JQ TOGETHER (I have to capitalize words because some people fail to actually read them) caused this problem.

The score shows how badly we were being double teamed. Look at it RIGHT NOW during the height of NA. BG is ticking at 300 +- 10. Was that even close to happening last week during NA? No, and we didn’t get any new guilds. The SEA has an even higher shift.

The guy who called it an arms race had it right on. The problem is, BG wasn’t playing to survive in Tier 1. We were playing to survive against both of you.

Again, you guys caused this. We just reacted. SORs focus of BG only every day, and JQs willingness to pile on. The pressure has caused us to temper as a server, and the community to pull together.

When we go back to BG-SOR-JQ again, sure the matchups will be closer. But everyone in JQ and everyone in SOR will know deep down that in a 1v1 matchup, BG destroyed you both.

BG destroyed both servers when there was a lower tier server in the mix, but to show true superiority BG needs to become a King maker. BG needs to choose who becomes second place. Then they will truly put JQ and SOR in their place.

Glad it’s not just me having these experiences with DB. On the rare occasions you can catch a few of them alone, they run to the nearest camp/tower/whatever and wait for their 80 man zerg to show up and save them. I usually roam around alone or with a group of 3 or 4 other people max trying to look for decent fights. We usually run into groups of 10 or so DB people roaming and try to fight them. EVERY SINGLE TIME, they run away from us and try to head to siege or guards and without fail, moments later a huge red blob comes to their rescue and we all get swarmed and then they laugh and dance. Is there anyone on DB who isn’t a total coward and is willing to actually fight without an army, and siege, and guards backing them up? I have yet to find any.

Yeah sorry, we were all busy playing, ya know, WvW.

You guys have more points than Yb and Mag combined. I think it’s safe for you guys to relax, move away from hitting doors and I dunno, have fun fighting people?

Getting slack from other servers because our general focus in coordinated WvW is on group fights and guild raids instead of roaming and 1v1s all week is seriously one of the most pathetic things I’ve seen be a recurring theme on this forum.

And I say this as someone who spends almost his entire time in WvW roaming or with groups of 2~4 people (Including myself).

Lots of DFND guys solo roam and can duel well. I also have not seen them run from equal numbers like some guilds on mags.

I respect ME for their commitment to open field combat. I would also like to say how much I respect the dfnd players. The last couple matches we have been up against mags the following happened.

I would often be out solo roaming, capping camps and sentries and yaks. Whenever I run into a dfnd guy who tries to or successfully defends the camp I am taking, they are willing to duel after on more even territory without the npc’s. I have not had a single unpleasant experience doing this so far whether win or lose.

That was some good combat. I was particularly impressed by d/erp when they flanked down the cliff near the windmill and veiled. They uncloaked on the back flank of ns for a nice crash taking a few of them down. NS had really good coordination and was able to focus a few of the d/erp that would get separated from the main group. Eventually this attrition cost D/erp in most the fights.

What’s with the ME obsession in this thread? They’re a good group of players, but I’ve never seen them singled out like this before.

It’s interesting how our best four or five guilds fill out a spectrum between extreme bowling ball and extreme kite. We all converse and borrow builds and ideas from each other, but our comps will always be different and we’ll always play differently.

Because they are the only ones who come out to fight in open field. And when they’re out, other mag guilds also grow some spine, and come out. Every other guild on Mags runs away from even even-numbered fights. Fact.

Mags would do well to learn from [ME].

Although the complements are nice, it’s obvious he is trying to get a rise out of everyone. We work side by side with [PYRO] and [BURN] almost every night now that we keep getting put up against T2 servers.

DORP and [VR] usually do their own thing but some of us do run with them and vice versa, both are really good guilds.

Although many of us are a bit burnt out from losing our upgrades daily in these matchups and getting trampled by 30vs1 zergblobs I think we proved here this morning that we can still make the ground shake. It was fun to combine all of our forces and go see how many holes we can blow in DB’s stuff. More good fights coming, they are coming very soon.

This shows what a standout guild ME is on mags. Really a top notch team that the rest of maguuma WvW can learn from. There is nothing wrong or embarrassing about losing a keep or 2 to them. They know what they are doing and are quality opponents.

The problem with looking for an even match is that none really exist. I do think DB is on the extreme side of things with NNK o’clock, but still. It’s better than grabbing a server from a far lower tier. Those guys don’t even show up on the map and our fairweathers come running in making it near impossible to find any fun. At least when heavily outnumbered you can sneak around and find something of interest.

There’s just nothing anet can do about this anymore. They’ve screwed up too many things that I just don’t think can be fixed. Free transfers, no oceanic servers on launch, and a wonky ranking system caused these clusterkitten matchups with servers that can’t be undone now. I disagree. They can save WvW by destroying what it is now. Use these random matches to balance the servers. Open up free transfers for a limited but not short time(1-2 months) then stop random matches and transfers for 1-2 months with a winner goes up and loser goes down system which will settle the glicko scores. then random matches can start again with a little more moderation. I mean last week it was us and tc and ehmry bay. Thats a wtf right there.

If you’re not having fun because you’re losing I don’t know how you’ve lasted on Maguuma for any length of time. You can’t play 24/7, so why worry about coverage and ppt? Capping stuff is fun sometimes, but it kind of sucks that the new meta is hoping to avoid a fight to do it. If you’re not into the pvp part of it then I doubt you’ll have much fun in these new random matchups.

I don’t mind losing – as you said – we don’t always win. I can also buy the comment that finding fights and doing well (and not the ppt) is the best part of the game. But so many times when people use that excuse – it sounds like – an excuse.

The point here is that these matches of late are far too lopsided to encourage any type of game play that would be considered fun. An even fight is the best fight. Then it’s skill on skill. The fight is then decided by thinking and quick maneuvers and team minded play. I will grant that the opposite scenario is just as bad.

It’s the even fights that we need. The ones where the game isn’t decided until the last minute. The ones where the match is decided by who played best. Who doesn’t mind losing in a situation like that, to a worthy opponent. I don’t mind at all. I’m just saying that Dragonbrand is NOT that worthy opponent. Who’s fault is that – not Dragonbrand. They’re doing what they can to make fun where there isn’t any- in the absence of equal numbers (equal fights). They cannot help that they outnumber us or that their time slots are filled to the brim. The fault lies with Anet! Plain and simple. The original post was about how it sucks that we’re up against T2 servers – and it does. Period.

Meh, the scoring system is a measure of population coverage, not skill. There’s nothing we can do about population coverage, so why worry about it? Just play for the fights. If you play for PPT, and you’re not a commander of any note, then you’re wasting your time worrying about things outside of your control.

True – but it doesn’t make it less frustrating. It would be easier if Anet said – this is a system of scoring based on population and coverage – but they don’t.

And some people on our beloved Maguuma try to make excuses. Meh – whatever. I just trudge through – find fights where I can get them – have fun with friends – and try to lose with some dignity. It would help tons if Anet would stop screwing that up. But – I get what you’re saying. And you’re right – I should stop worrying about it.

from what I hear the bandwagon servers buy wvw guilds. Something Db did not do. All transfer monies paid to help transfer guilds was paid back in 2 weeks. Whats this i hear from a couple weeks ago?

Hopefully there are some more 1-2 man roamers from DB/EB later in the week.

Our small group of 2-4 was pretty frustrated. Every time we found a small group and engaged, more and more would come until we were overwhelmed. Got rolled by large TC groups in DB and TC BL’s. Hopefully it will get better later in the week.

I have been solo roaming and everytime i would see a small group they all would engage and gank me :*( Hopefully you will allow 1v1’s later in the week. that is the only way I like to play WvW. Ebay’s population is too high if you can waste 3-10 peoples time on this little solo roamer. Hopefully it will get better later on in the week.

Come on… The much more obvious explanation is that the camera code in this game is a mess and they haven’t come up with a way to fix this without breaking other things.

How in the world could they come up with a code the doesn’t give people with a multi monitor set up a wider FOV? At least the ability to access the wider FOV is easy for everyone to have. 1 team doesn’t have and inherent advantage over the other when it comes to arrow carts.

The answer is to take this subject to the devs in the suggestion forum. Ask them to prevent ac’s from hitting inside areas with roofs on them like hills lords room. That would solve just about all problems, but you also couldn’t fire out of any structure with a roof on it if this idea is used. for balance sake.
