I am an over 50 yr old gamer.
I enjoy WvWvW and tend to play GW2 for 40-50+ hrs a week.
IMHO, Anet has displayed a sense of humour.
There have been some very good fights this week. The end of culling has allowed commanders to choose their fights and the current T3 playstyles have allowed “me” to go back to solo roaming the map.
A very good defence of Longview by a tiny YB force last night and some good small forces fights were had around the map.
Thanks all for bringing the fun. Play to enjoy, PvPers will adapt to change.
We all play for our own reasons. I have played PPT wars, I have soloed, run with small groups and even been in massive zergs, all can be fun in their own way.
No need to trash talk former allies or opponents, just keep coming out to WvWvW and bringing whichever version of playstyle you enjoy.
Good luck see you on the battlefields!
The three servers in this weekly tier 3 matchup are SoS , DB and YB.
Last night in oceanic hours I noticed YB forces were present in good numbers for 2-3 hrs longer than usual and the score difference at one point had closed to within 1-2 K.
Great effort Yaks!.
DB roared back onto the maps late in my playtime and were as good as ever!
Great effort DB!
I enjoy the matchup, respect my opponents efforts and look forward to continuing to play GW2 for some time yet.
Good luck all.
Both DB and YB do a good job defending towers, keeps etc. No one player can man 5 siege items etc, so there is a minimum no of defenders needed to hold.
YB during oceanic hours drops below that critical mass BUT they still have some skilled and dedicated Yak slapping and camp flipping teams.
I very much enjoy playing in Tier three and look forwards to the “reset hr rush” each week where combined timezone forces compete.

I play on SoS as an oceanic. I have greatly enjoyed playing against Yak’s Bend and I personally would like to see them gain more oceanic presence.
I would suggest reading through the YB/DB/SoS WvWvW threads before making any transfer decisions.
We had some issues last night ( oceanic ) with a few EB towers flipping from apparently underground attackers. ( the colour they flipped to is not important ) The flipped towers retained mortars, cannons and oil when retaken.
This suspicious action appeared to cease when scouts were posted in the lords rooms.
I would advise all players from any server to keep their eyes open and report anything suspicious through the appropriate channels. It may be a bug rather than an exploit.
IMHO, You should also pass whatever info you have up through your own server forums/leaders so we can all work on removing these things from our game.
As long as we get some decent fights I do not care who is fighting who.
Keep bringing it YB! Keep bringing it DB!
See you on the battlefield!
Some good fights this week, good to see a few new people in WvW and a few old hands returning.
Hope to see many more after the update.
Many players enjoy both PvE and WvWvW and some prefer not having to guest to play alongside players in their own prime times.
Good luck enjoy the game during your time online.
snipped good advice ribuld
Servers are comprised of people. People play when they want to. Enjoyment is the key factor.
SoS did not really “crumble” last week we are still here, “DB played well and put in the hours.” Please try to stay positive and apply praise where praise is due. Great effort DB!
DB won first in our tier, SoS won 8th overall GW2 NA servers weekly, Yaks won 9th overall GW2 NA servers weekly, we are all still top ten finishers!
(Grats Mag for rounding out the top ten )
Some good fights are being had, concentrate on those please.

SoS – only server ive seen keep pace with the overpopulated JQ – is now rank 2 T3… should start a thread entitled “What Happened”
IMHO, A group of gamers realised that GW2 was not their second job. Many of these people remain on SoS and are currently enjoying the game.
Go DB! Great comeback and a well deserved win if you get it!
See you all again next week!
(edited by elkirin.8534)
DB is playing great and gaining more PPT. That is all.
It is not fairweathers, or courage or server heart or some mystical bond between man/woman and keyboards. It is just a game and hopefully people are enjoying it.
ps…. I am greatly enjoying the week.
Great effort DB! The placings for this week are not yet a done deal, the gap is rapidly closing between DB and SoS and YB may yet hang on to tier 3.
Good luck all, see you on the battlefield.

My comment has nothing to do with points or against night capping, everything to do with the enjoyment of those playing during those periods of population disparity both the outmanning and the outmanned. The enjoyment of those two sides, for those interesting in fighting, are linked, increasing the enjoyment of one will increase the enjoyment of the other.[/quote]
I have this same concern, I was ignored when I suggested leaving the EB keeps capture to pugs rather than organised, commander led golem rushes.
Props to the 4-5 who tried to defend, I know what that feels like having faced 8-9 catapults and 50 plus zergs vs 5-6 defenders before.
I also had problems with the posting of the 695 PPT as I thought it was bad form.
I have no control over other posters other than to press the report button though.

IMHO, A good chunk of the people who remained on their servers are less interested in coverage wars than fun. It also matters very little which server/s people once were on, it only really matters who is here now, bringing the fun.
I for one was once a proud member of Elendilmir server but that hardly matters now.
Great defence by DB in DB BL early oceanic hrs last night, good to see people defending with such enthusiasm.
See you on the battlefields
1. In addition to reporting possible exploits in the correct manner, Do contact leaders from the server in question and supply whatever info you can, every server has to check these things now and then.
2. Did you check for golems at inner as lord was taken or a cat near WG, or a cat NW of North bay gate in the shadows. (You had inner scouts?)
3. Were the quaggans flipped at the time of the takes.( it is how I normally cover a small team operation)
4. Did your scouts 100% clear all enemy scouts set to watch for arriving forces.
( scouts let me know when to stop firing cats until eyes leave )
5. Were there any wall breaches in the time period earler that day? I am not hugely patient myself but I have aided a mesmer evade detection in hills for around 45Mins before getting bored.
and finally, Not sure what happened but I will ask and keep an eye out for any suspicious actions.
PS, the server time that the flips happened would likely be of assistance.

The fights I have been in this week have been a lot of fun. As usual I have enjoyed them and thank those who bring the fun, regardless of the server they represent.
NB I do not know your name, but the DB Elelmentalist who was solo roaming EB during oceanic hours, Great stuff, I enjoyed the challenges you set my ranger!
(edited by elkirin.8534)
There have been a great many terrific fights this week. YB and DB are fighting well and the reset fights were very high quality. SoS BL had to dig in for hrs at reset.
I do not care who is focussing who, the whole point of any PvP system is that it is not totally predictable. I enjoy dealing with whatever the situation is when I log on.
This is a game, as a SoS original, I understand the feelings some people have towards those guilds/players who left, but I refuse to hate anyone, let alone fellow gamers.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
This is a great matchup, some terrific fights and SoS borderland was hectic for many hours from reset , excellent work all!
See you on the battlefield
Thank you for a fun week of fighting. I can honestly say that this week we (SoS) met two fine opponents and faced far fewer forum trolls than ever before.
I and many others will play right through to the reset and TC will have to earn their place in T2. (Good luck TC )
Good luck all, I hope you get a fun three way competitive match in T2.
Kain and FA are playing great this match, there are some terrific , fun battles.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that both servers are being a little kind to SoS in their target selection processes. ( Thank you)
I do hope that the current population of SoS is not misleading either server into thinking they should face down the monster servers of T1, right now.
Skill, good humor and planning does not beat massive 24/7 raw numbers. I am sure that either Kain or FA would win many fights but I suggest recruitment to plug all coverage holes before entering T1 may be a wiser long term choice.
I am happy to wait and see, the system may be fine, I play these games for fun and a certain amount of challenge often provides that fun.
If the character progression system is of a reasonable duration ( to me ) I will level many alts in the wvw progression as I enjoy playing each character type.
If it is not reasonable ( to me) I will likely level just my main until I am bored and seek other more enjoyable worlds.
Not only are you going to tier 8 but they’re already startin a tier 9 for ya where you will find a fair match up by squaring your last 3 active players in a free for all.
If that happens at least Teamspeak will only have one armchair general per team…….
IMHO, While it is unlikely SoS will fall to T8, it is very likely that the rise and fall of servers will continue as long as the “super server” constructs in T1 continue to attract players.
Some great fights. Grats to a few like TSym etc for being so organised scouting wise, much of SoS needs to improve rather than expect others to scout for them.
Thank you to the enemy player who downed but did not kill my ranger who was doing vista’s. You are always entitled to the kill but I was impressed when you just ran off!
I have noticed the organised guilds leave scouts scattered around to counter the change, congrats to anyone fully organised.
I have also noticed that the potty mouthed trash talkers in team speak complaining about late scout reports or a lack of scouting do NOT tend to do any scouting at all themselves. They have become more prevalent since this change.
I have zero problems with the new system but would either like rewards added for those that scout. OR have guild leaders start dealing with the teamspeak/chat abusers that make people not want to make a scouting announcement in case they amp up the trolls.
Some great fights today, I was not part of TSym’s all elementalist raid but I am fairly glad I was not on the receiving end of all that lightning.
I have been enjoying the fights and look forward to the week.
Some great fights early oceanic last night on EB. We got wiped a number of times but the mood was upbeat and a lot of our opponents were up levelled players who also appeared to be enjoying themselves. Plenty of kills for all sides.
Good luck, enjoy the game.
I have been fighting JQ for months now and I have a great deal of respect for my opponents in game efforts. The forum fools are another matter but every server has them.
IMHO,
JQ was always superb at scouting, defence and rapid response. Their current strength is NOT the result of some evil plot.
SoR has proven a worthy opponent and deserves a spot in T1. With 3 strong teams fighting , they will do well.
BG fought well vs SoS and JQ, and showed great heart. They will do well.
I am hoping that T1 will once again become a fine competition between three strong teams.
As to SoS, many of us will fight on, but we are not T1 ready at the moment
GMs please consider asking your members to show a little restraint on these forums.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
This is a scores thread, posting the score is not a crime.
Good job on the 695, not easy to get!
Also good job whoever flipped the NE Guard flag blue on SoR preventing a full green map.
Those of us still on SoS are doing what we can but everyone should understand that one weaker team makes it very difficult on the second placed team, hopefully we will be out of your hair soon and you can get back to a good three way fight.
Score check please?
Has SoS managed to hold onto EB Red Keep?
I have consistently defended gamers who have transferred to JQ/XX as just people looking to enjoy the game. I wish those transferring off SoS all the best and thank them for all the fun they brought to the game while here.
On with the show;
Last night ( early oceanic ) EB was terrific fun, JQ pushed SoS keep and went within a whisker of taking it. Meanwhile SOR Knocked over JQ keep ( saving us )and the map colours changed massively over the next few hours!
Great work all, keep up the action! See you on the battlefields tonight!

As an almost pure WvWer I consider GW2 to be a great game.
I find it very difficult to logout when a BL or EB is under heavy attack or outmanned. I have a great deal of respect for my ingame opponents, JQ, old SBI, BG, SoR etc but I am getting weary and would not actually mind facing new opponents or gaining new allies.
I arrived a month after release and I still love the basic WvWvW part of the game.
Good luck all, enjoy the game.
It is likely that future shifts in population will fix the Tier 1 issues.
While we wait for that eventuality we can either have fun in GW2 or move to other things. I would prefer people choose to continue in GW2 but it is their time.
Please try not to be the final forum warrior that costs us GW2 players.
With random invites I usually ask in map chat what the person wishes to do.
Honour (Honor ) is a strange thing.
Some might think that openly exploiting is dishonourable. Some might think that sending trash talk PMs to enemy commanders in game is dishonourable. Some might even think you can never regain honour once it is lost.
We are playing an online game. IMHO, it may be best not to use Honour or courage to describe other gamers actions. Live and play to your own codes, preferrably within the rules of the games and forums.
It may even be better to post the score. Please.
Two points;
I have personally fought Foo for weeks on end when SoS oceanic was staying online 10-12 hrs daily holding the line, FOO is a fine opponent and very difficult to hold at bay.
If the forum Monkey’s infractions were counted against their servers ingame scores, we three servers would meet in tier 8.
I have had some great fights against JQ, sometimes we win, sometimes they do.
AND
I have had some great fights against SoR, sometimes we win, sometimes they do.
Please post the score when able. Thank you.
I am not sure how to help the Tier 8 trap.
As to match stagnation and mismatched timezone wvw;
I suggest that the maps and PPT ( not the score ) are reset 3-4 times daily.
All would get to participate but the next timezone of players would not be facing a full red/green/blue map from the previous timezone.
Thank you to the people who have created the guilds with duplicate guild tags.
As a member of [MERC] I had a very good laugh when I spotted an enemy [MERC] with a guild name along the lines of “too poor to transfer”.
I much prefer comedy to all the drama monkey stuff.
I would tend to agree timewise that 20+ vs 20+ fighting or jumping puzzles using portals are likely the best ways to gain badges.
For myself though, I have under 6k kills, I am wearing a set of full badge bought armor, two badge purchased daggers and have around 600 in the vault. My way was small teams, camp flipping and fighting other yak/camp teams. 1400+ hrs into the game though.
I am unable to agree with the decrease in siege damage unless each day the maps are reset.
OR
The less workable alternative to this would be to remove all wall/gate upgrades from the game.
Then reducing siege damage would be possible. A range reduction for trebs is something I agree with.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
Making a new trash talk folder area, not viewable without accepting the specific code of misconduct for that area is not a bad idea.
But then again the request is coming from gamers who do not wish to follow the code of conduct they signed to gain access to these exisiting forums.
Very likely people would post non trash talk posts and be infracted for breaching the new code of misconduct….
I tend to agree with parts of this latest Guild wars fan post. The coverage issues are just part of the game. Blaming or defaming other servers is pointless and while some find the forum drama fun, I personally feel it drives others from these games.
Good luck, I hope you all continue to enjoy the game. Out.
Each time the forum warriors massively overestimate your servers numbers, take it as a compliment. I am proud that my 25-30 man guild group was often stated to be 50 strong by the forum warriors versions of events!
Please do not trash talk any people for moving servers, GMs choose to move so that guild members continue to enjoy them selves, no crime in that.
As to those moving off SoS, farewell, good luck to you all and thanks for fighting alongside us while you were here!
IMHO, Posters disrespecting servers should be removed from the forums but that is up to the moderators.
JQ has been a competitive server in tier 1 a long time and should be congratulated for the effort.
SoS did exceptionally well at collecting PPT over an 11 week period in T1 and should be congratulated for the effort.
SoR has always been a strong server and is currently very competitive in T1 and should be congratulated for their efforts.
The guild I am in has shifted focus from 10-18 hr PPT maintenance sessions to include many more open field combat guild outings.
It is not courage, cowardice, broken morale or some evil servers actions causing this change. The GM simply realised that the guild is comprised of gamers seeking to enjoy a game, that is all.
Personally I love the new aggressive open field combat runs especially against opponents of the standard of JQ, BG and SoR.
A few people are being overly dramatic. Yes a few people are suffering from burnout, 18 hrs a day is a fantastic effort but everyone realises that can not go on forever.
People come and go from these games, hopefully I/we will see them again in future game worlds.
There are still many good fights to be found in Tier 1 and GW2 will go on awhile yet. I enjoyed SoS BL early oceanic, JQ had low numbers but were hanging on with everything they had! The push back started just as I had to answer a work call but good luck all!
