Some people are taking a week off, their choice. I have read their reasons and hope they return refreshed. For myself, I agree with this RNG ratings system and would laugh if we drew BG, SoR or JQ. Then get on with playing the game.
I am a SoS player, I have increased my WvWvW hours this weekend and will likely play more every day this match. It does not matter who we are placed against, I enjoy WvWvW because humans are less predictable than NPCs.
Good luck all .
Some great fights so far, both FA and TC have some polished guild units running about. Superb tactics and a lot of fun.
We are all gamers and hopefully having fun, good luck all!
I am pretty certain that the point has been made and that commanders from all servers might now consider action such as moving away from a tower that has possible exploiters in it. ( not as easily done as said )
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it is very difficult to get all cat herding decisions 100% correct on the fly.
It may be best to let this lie now and move on. Hopefully all servers have learned something about dealing with these “individuals” in the future.

Currently a number of WvWvWers are either raising alts, doing southsun or a combination of the two. All three servers likely experience the “team” doing some odd things rather than following commanders instructions. At least they turned up.
PvPers adapt, it is who we are and for many of us, unexpected human behaviour trumps facing predictable AI.
Enjoy your time in the game world.

The OP asked if SBI would be an fun server to WvWvW upon. I gave my outsiders opinion that SBI is a fine server but a few SBI residents should likely PM the OP with first hand observations.
Good luck all, hope you enjoy the game.
There are a number of posters to this thread who usually post rubbish. Some post what they have actually seen and I thank them for it. I will try to do the second.
SBI, appears to me to be a fairly well co ordinated server. During NA prime ( or 6-7 hrs after reset ) they have some very good groups/players who do well against other groups/players. Early Oceanic they hang on well and have shown some spirited defences while outmanned.
SoS has significant Mid oceanic numbers and both SBI and CD tend to become defensive and/or opportunist during these hours, I would do the same in their position.
As someone who solo roams 7 of my 8 professions, I have met many fine players but see virtually zero overall skill level differences between servers. Ego often clouds people’s minds.
My suggestion is;
1. look at any ego driven or trashy posts, read all previous posts from that player and decide which should be put on ignore and which heeded.
2. Give SBI a go, I fought them in t1 and they were basically a fine crowd, I see much the same quality of player here in t4.

Welcome people arriving in the tier. I hope you enjoy the matches.
Good Luck SoS NA players, seems you may be getting new challenges to face.
no way, I have gone out and got exactly 2 ranks on 6 alts so that can get 12 extra chests for 12k wxp…….. if they change it now I will have lost 2 hrs number crunching….
( not a fan of char based ranks but it is what it is )
The stealth mechanic was just a bad idea in the first place, I can’t see any way to balance it.
I kill plenty of thieves and can’t remember the last time I lost to one but I also can’t remember the last time I killed a good one, because once they realise they can’t kill me they just use the broken shadow return and drop shadow refuge out of my closing range and disappear off.
The reason that thieves can’t kill me is because any WvW build I make is primarily focused on countering them. I don’t feel the need to specifically counter any of the other classes and didn’t have to lvl 80 a warrior to be able to deal with them, like you have to with thieves. Dealing with thieves may be a learn to play issue and you hear all the time “if you want to deal with thieves you have to roll one and learn the tricks”. but how many times have you seen this on the forums?: “if you want to deal with Guardians/Rangers/Warriors/Eles/Necros you have to roll one and learn the tricks”.
Thief is not OP but it is the ultimate troll class, specced and played right thieves are just downright irritating to play against.
There is no fix for thieves, either you nerf them into the ground and kill a popular class (like they did with Mesmers) or you leave them as is and the rest of the classes find them annoying. I wish they had come up with something better for the thief but the truth is, they put them in the game, it was a bad idea and now we are stuck with them.
In conclusion they can’t really nerf thieves because the main things that cause the problems are core game mechanics, we just are forced to play them ourselves so we can learn them and then spec against them or stick to zerging around.
This post is IMHO, one of the most worthwhile in the thread.
I honestly see thieves as one of the only reasons preventing full battlefields of people running full glass cannon, zero stun break, dps only builds. Thieves bring the pucker factor. Leave them alone and adapt is my opinion.
Some of my most fun fights have been Necro vs thief.

Please try not to blame entire servers for the actions of a few. If you are not satisfied with reporting systems, please also contact relevant server leaders/players.
Good luck, we are all gamers, most of us just want to enjoy the game.
Snip * Snip* sorry for copy pasting a post likely to be reported.
Declan; I am from Sea of Sorrows , By the way…..I can pretty much assure you no whole server condones exploiting, neither mine, CD or SBI.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
I understand the gut wrenching feeling when keeps castles towers etc are exploited into. That being said, it is not SBI or CD servers fault, it is individuals or in this case only one guild.
Most WvWers would not even have known about the exploits when they entered the taken fortifications. Give them the benefit of the doubt.
Good luck all, hopefully the exploiters were reported and we can just get on with the game.
Regardless of the one eyed slant of some posters to these threads, the 5-6 hours after reset was fun with wins losses and wipes handed out in all directions.
The next 10+ hrs (I usually play 15 or so hrs reset ) SoS oceanic numbers count for more.
There are some fine battles, some good and some learning commanders and the matchup is more fun than weekly scores would show.
Good luck all, try not to get too caught up in your own ego trips, banter is good, but be thoughtful please, we are all gamers and want more to play not less.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
Good luck to those moving servers, I hope you enjoy the game.
Good luck to those remaining on their servers, I hope you enjoy the game.
This seems a decent suggestion, If the percentage X variation is locked between say 90-100 % of old ppt, then I would think it could work. While maintaining the current PPT match style.
If it was moved to a player kills is more important than coverage style of scoring there would be a number of other factors to be adjusted as well, including a need to actually balance. ( not that I dislike that thought )
My personal suggestion for freshening matches without much work required by devs is;
Drop all upgrade costs to 10 silver 500 karma and current supply , AND
Reset all structures every 6 hrs daily.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
I would add a list of famous players of my own, but there is likely a better one already posted to Dulfy.net…..
If you are having difficulty with gamers using AC’s, It may be time to reconsider your own tactics.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
As a gamer who WvWvWs on chars of all 8 professions I have always enjoyed reading the anti stealth threads. In each thread there are always a percentage of people with valid points and also a percentage of people who seriously need to re evaluate their own playstyles. So many chuckles!
IMHO, Traps are just something new. Gamers will adapt. I think this will not be the last trap introduced and look forward to the forum comedy as each adjustment is made.
I am currently levelling an engineer in WvW. If you happen upon a little asura engineer with a toybag backpack, please feel free to open fire.
I greatly enjoy the jumping around chasing, fighting and different mechanics of the engineer and in particular wish to thank the EB roamers for bringing the pucker factor.
Good luck all, enjoy the game.
Daily resets would benefit the servers who are most populated in the 3-4 hrs after that reset. The rest of the match is played in hardened structures.
If you actually wanted to make things more even as well as less boring, consider resetting the match 6-8 times a day.
Some very good fights this weekend. There was one SBI dagger/pistol thief who provided an excellent challenge. I think at least half of my fleet of 8 characters died to them at some stage over the 2 days.
Good luck all, enjoy the gameworld while you are here.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
Some people see things as exploits that others are happy to use. Just report people, send a message to the server leaders or GMs that are affected and play on.
The amazing over the wall AC users annoy me as well but I am not going to breach the code of conduct I signed to name them here.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/WvW-sub-forum-rules-reminder
The difficulty with maths solutions is the players ability to work the system.
I would suggest Anet needs to track players in WvW and use it as part of the rating calculation, not adjust the ppt.
Congrats BG, JQ and SoR on being 1-2 and 3 in GW2 NA this week. Fight it out to the finish and start again at reset.
Good luck all.
Thank you Waffler for copy pasting the entire post in your reply. I am used to people snipping out individual lines and write accordingly.
I have played in Tiers 1 through 5 during my time in GW2. while I only have around 2000 hrs played, the vast majority of my time is played in WvWvW.
As a previous MERC, I saw a variety of large scale battles and learned a number of different tactics. It was a lot of fun. I still am involved in full map force vs map force battles, just not ever day now and the total numbers are usually lower.
IMHO, there is very little individual skill lvl difference between tiers. IMHO, Large scale tactics can be learned very quickly and IMHO, 1-2 leaders can make all the difference in battles.
IMHO, the enjoyment factor is personal and I am enjoying T4 as much as I enjoyed T1.

Mixed in among the usual fair minded posts, there has been a fair number of whiny posts this week. I would like to thank those posters as I/we have been using copy pastes of these posts in LA and guild chat to draw numbers into WvW borderlands.
We had more than usual numbers in BLs last night and a great deal of fun was had with a spirited attack on a well defended garrison.
Keep up the motivational posts, they are very useful.
Regardless of whether you want to hear it or not, there actually have been some good fights this week.
There are a number of posters to this thread who appear to be needing a break from the game. I hope they stay more positive in their own server map chats.
IMHO, This is WvW ( PvP ), we get to choose how we play, not how the opponent plays. Adapt, do your best and enjoy the game while you are playing it.
Please by all means report bots but IMHO, please do not report players tagging along. My reason follows;
GW2 needs all the wvw players it can get, one innocent banned by careless reporting becomes 10 less players after the rumours spread that you get banned for just being in WvW.
Some good fights out there, some novel keep takes and defences due to arrow carts and some players actually adapting and getting on with it.
I like it. Implement it, then when any server dominates a timezone the other two can just pull a co ordinated black out, minimising the points the top server can gain to 33% of the total.
zero + zero + full = 33%
We could also abuse anyone that logs in to wvw during “our” off prime as they would be increasing the enemies % earned of the potential points.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/WvW-sub-forum-rules-reminder
Report the people suspected of exploiting ingame, to the correct email and get on with playing. You may also contact leaders from each server to initiate player action.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
There have been some great fights reset day and all weekend. I do not hold anyone accountable for the siege “overbuilding” going on other than the builder, we all have the odd clown join our servers.
During reset night we ( SOS) were attacking NE tower on sbi/cd borderlands and we were offered a portal inside. The SoS minizerg stayed on the rams ignoring the mesmer.
The portal was refused, mesmer reported and I hope the defenders inside got screenshots. The tower was eventually taken, against spirited defence.
Good luck all, we can only keep sending in the reports and refusing to work with these clowns.
IMHO;
5-6 people “emoting” over an open field corpse is just 5-6 players not with their team.
I would suggest making a coffee, having a smoke or taking a break in the knowledge that you are holding 5-6 players out of the match. or just release and get on with it.
People do things in PvP to get a response, if the opponent plays worse or does silly things in response, then it may have worked. Read the thousands of threads about bunny hopping in games……
(edited by elkirin.8534)
While it would be interesting to see how WM was received by certain JQ and BG elements who have long memories, I doubt Kain deserves to lose one of the driving forces behind their current position.
I have enjoyed this match up. I tend to mostly avoid the zerg/door fests and solo/small group about and I have met some fine opponents from both CD and SBI.
I am unlikely to change servers during my time in this game and expect many others feel the same way. We can only do our best to enjoy/play hard during our time online.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/WvW-sub-forum-rules-reminder
The trouble with many “’exploits” is they are subject to personal judgement as to whether they are an exploit. Please try to keep accusations off the forums.
Report the incidents, contact leaders where you can and try not to name servers / guilds etc on the forums.
I am in favour of the server co ordinating to remove useless siege but am worried that innocent bystanders will attack the siege removal teams unless we get our lines of communications perfected.
There are many fine commanders, the issue is how to rate a commander. For me it would be as follows;
1. Never exploits (exploit definition can be problematic )
2. Takes responsibility for failures rather than blames followers.
3. Tries to include fun in the runs they lead.
4. Understands the importance of a server community.
5. Gets the job done with available forces.
This is a good matchup with a number of skilled individuals/teams on all servers. As with all WvW the match PPT has more to do with numbers/coverage than any particular skill.
I am enjoying the match and IMHO, the PPT spread can be explained as follows;
As a server with a strong Oceanic presence, we ( SoS) get the advantage of reset falling saturday morning Australian time. The first few frantic hours a good chunk of our combined forces are going at it , during this period SBI/CD do very well PPT wise.
Around 9 hrs after reset a good percentage of NA players are logging off while SoS still has a lot of Oceanic/SEA presence, myself included. The period 9-12 hrs after reset we (SoS) gain a lot of PPT.
I log around 14 hrs after reset but SBI seems to push back hard in the period 14-24hrs after reset. Day two is very similar to first day after reset.
Grats all who turn out for wvwvw, this is a fine game, see you on the battlefield.
Great fights last night, if you were wondering why a small force was so doggedly trying to break a hole in CD Hills….. We have a guild member who needs one vista for his legendary completion wooooo!
See you again tonight if he did not get a path in after I had to sleep.
NB I have enjoyed fighting SBI/CD, lots of skills and classy opponents. Lets just keep bringing it!
(edited by elkirin.8534)
This has been a very good weekly matchup. I have died many times and enjoyed many fine fights. My thief got blown up by an engineer last night and I laughed so loudly my dog hid under the bed!
I personally do not hold any ill feelings towards people moving servers seeking fun, or to those inbound allies or enemies arriving seeking fun, we are all just gamers.
See you all on the battlefields!
nb 2K/250K Dolyaks slain, I am on a roll!
In my experience across a variety of Game worlds, The team that runs away first has tended to lose. Great commanders/leaders/motivators can do a lot to help with the Push pull mechanic.
Really great followers who throw themselves forwards on command can often drag the undecided with them as well.
OP, if you and I lead the push, maybe some more will follow…..
NO it doesn’t.
My reason:
The OP used an example of 3v3, i will use my personal experience of 1 vs many (3/4/5), at the moment i find it VERY difficult to kill Just ONE, yet i find it surprisingly easy to put ONE in a downed state, BUT they DON’T DIE. If i put a person in a downed state before all of them do it to me, then that person Deserves to Die – and thus they will need more rezzing. (It DOESN’T take long to Heal someone in a Downed state)
Removing Downed state would give the advantage to the Better Players and not those that had More Numbers.
I assume this poster plays a high DPS burst class similar to mine. I disagree absolutely though.
If downed state was removed, their would be zero need for any other classes other than the “best” burst dps.
I/we could just insta kill, and move on. Being able to 1/3 shot kill players does not and would not make me/them the “better” player.
I feel downed state skills could be looked at but downed state definitely needs to stay.
I understand the need to motivate your own server by bending the truth a little,
BUT I prefer to just tell it as I see it,
In the 12-15 Hrs after reset;
I saw some great fights, wiped some groups, got wiped by some groups. Had some good small force contests and generally saw a fairly well matched contest. SoS was in third place for at least the first 7-8 hrs.
Yesterday I again saw some great fights, some good open field fighting and stubborn defence from all sides. It is a totally different game when BLs are not being swept by 70 man zergs and I am enjoying it. I hope the fun continues.
See you on the battlefield.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
Some great fights this reset weekend. Some terrific defences and some valiant last ditch tries to prevent Tower flips. ( good to see garrisons held over reset night )
All in all a very good weekend. SoS had many fresh WvW ers playing this weekend and I hope all three servers enjoy the week and continue to turn out to WvW.
See you on the battlefield.
(edited by elkirin.8534)
To the actual WvWers;
Thanks for the weeks of fun, I enjoyed many small/medium and large force fights. I hope you all continue to enjoy the game. Good Luck Maguuma, I hope you have fun in Tier 3.
To the forum warriors;
We three servers played for 7th, 8th and 9th place in NA this week. Congrats to DB on winning this tier. Congrats to YB for 2nd in this tier.
See you on the battlefield.

I am a fan of leader boards, especially if they are broken down into a variety of categories.
I am also a fan of allowing people to opt out of leader boards. Just because I enjoy something does not mean it should be forced upon other gamers.
For well over a decade I have played a variety of online PvP/RvR/WvW etc games. The primary reason I enjoy PvP more than PvE is that people do unexpected things.
Good luck all, thanks for bringing the fun in your own way, see you on the battlefields.
I have seen the odd emote, I have even seen the odd commander do things I would not BUT I have never seen a server do anything 100% together.
It would be amazing to see 4-5000 asura dancing in sync though.
NB. I was not in that camp either…whichever camp it is we were talking about…
I have experienced Rift pvp progression and the “stats beats all” dilemma started out as only a small % gap.
Eventually they had to split the games by rank to mitigate the loss of pvpers.
Gear disparity/ stat disparity was costing them players.
