During the linking Beta, only the Host name shows, not the guest name. This is either an issue or it is not.

For those who feel it is an issue, I suggest;

each second week the borderlands and names shown over the head rotate ie one week it shows host next week guest.

For those who feel losing a name is not an issue I suggest;

each second week the borderlands and names shown over the head rotate ie one week it shows host next week guest.

I am not sure how to break it to you , so I will shoot straight from the hip;

Maguuma is currently making a heavy Glicko Win…. it appears they are in the right tier.

FA is currently taking a heavy Glicko Loss…. it appears they are in the right tier.

ET is carrying BG to victory, it appears they are in the right tier. (TIC)

Some are happy with the increased numbers, some long for a return to solo roamers facing solo roamers.

IMHO, Anet has done something, I am happy that they have tried something. Without providing an example of how they could do it better, I will live with this system.

Every server I have played I have personally seen evidence of sporting plays or received friendly tells.

IE I have evidence of decent players on all servers I have faced. I would suggest, if you never see any positives, play more hours.

I do care how you treat each other.

While this is not officially a Mags thread, the last few pages have been dominated by mags posters so;

I would like to report a mags player/s for sportsmanlike play. Yesterday I was capping south camp on Mags BL and a Dark haven Druid opened up on me ( all fine so far).

I dodged backwards through the arrow stream got to grips with the player and ended up outlasting them. Life happens. Now to the report.

All the while 1-3 mags players were standing in my 6 watching the 1 v 1 unfold.

They did not gank me, they did not emote crude things and they were possibly not even running trapper runes on their dragon hunters. What is WvW coming to when you get this sort of sportsmanlike behaviour from mags players!

If I had been fast enough I would have screen shotted the players so you could take appropriate action against them.

Please consider some retraining sessions.

It can be difficult but those of us who play in PvP enabled areas have to adapt. This may include taking a break. I get grumpy now and then myself.

For a very long time I have been involved in WvW, First with MERC on SoS and then another co-ordinated guild group but I have also always been a scout/ solo roamer when online alone.

I personally do not believe in moving servers so I have adapted to the game play my choice leaves me. Nowadays I am still a scout roamer who plays during periods we are out manned and tends to farm flax while the PPT is 350+ in SoS’s favor.

Please do whatever you have to do to enjoy this or any other game. I thank you for your efforts in WvW.

Despite not agreeing with the wording, I would like to defend a few points Puck has made;

If the K/d ratio was taken against roamers, it would be higher, that IMHO is an absolute. The majority of roamers are seldom caught by zergs and even when they choose to suicide into a cap circle their k/d ratio is heavily raised because we roamers face/locate a large number of soloers doing dailies.

( these are not roamers just guys doing dailies but they still count as a kill)

It is difficult to judge enemy numbers during a fight. While the outmanned buff gives us a hint, the length of the names when 15+ names overlap does make it look like a larger number. Several thousand hrs of practice can negate this effect of course.

I have no difficulty with Mags players builds or playstyles, they set the same challenges any thinking post HoT team will set. Keep on keeping on, after 10K+ hrs mostly in wvw, I enjoy anything different you can throw at me.

I have enjoyed this game a long time, 10k+ hrs played, mostly in WvW but I believe choices should be provided for all play styles. Many gamers WILL NOT be forced into certain playstyles, they will just shift games.

I personally have zero dungeon AP/MP by choice, zero Fractal AP/MP by choice and zero raid AP/MP by choice. I have not been Anet’s target audience of late but do still enjoy WvW roaming.

Good luck all,

I personally think all play styles should have a place but honestly believe those who left due to the changes or even lack of changes to WvW are gone.

I would think the company should concentrate on returning fun for those remaining.

IE some like gadgets and pve gimmicks in wvw some do not so, remove all from one map and leave them in the other.

T3 From a SoS roamer perspective;

The NA battle seems ferocious and likely very fun. Mags has the upper hand .

OCX, SoS remenants still outman SBI and they do not make up the points in OCX they would versus lighter OCX teams. mags is not very present in mid OCX hours.

All three teams have their moments and the mags/sbi roamers are very competent and running roaming builds unlike the old days. ( Some very good high DPS roamers)

I do not frequent EBG as the zerg EBG mentality currently in vogue is not my thing sorry.

T3 seems ok, lacking manning in certain timezones for each team.

OK a number of posters will choose to read any post in a manner to suit their personal agenda, I can not change that.

I have always ( read my post history, ) supported more choices for players. As a very long term pvp/rvr/wvw and previously raid player in many games since 1997, I have a different playstyle background than the OP.

I have watched 2-3 very large guilds dwindle to a handful of active players and agree with the OP that a lack of choices causes many to lose enjoyment in the game.

I do not want raids removed or raid drops lessened BUT I do want something placed in the game for non raiders to be able to progress along. I doubt I will use it personally but I choose to WvW here.

It is not a matter of hard or easy for me, if I enjoy the harder option I will play it, if I lose the enjoyment in a game I will move along.

Sometimes the enjoyment is in the achieving sometimes the journey. For each person the mileage varies, remember to speak only for yourself when you post to these threads.

Please count me as a +1 to the original post.

Casual - Hardcore- Problem, solution?

To be honest I support virtually all requests for play style options.

That said;

“More than ever..i think we r haveing a casual hardcore problem…some people wanna have easy stuff..so wanna feel the thrill…”

Introducing the topic as a choice between easy and thrill etc will just cause a slanging match between competent players who differ in choice of naming conventions.

IMHO, The basic request for an option to have varying time to kill or /varied ai setting mobs on player selectable maps is not that bad an idea if doable.

I do not have the mastery points to train Fractals masteries but this is not a problem for me as Fractals are not an area I choose to play.

That said, if you can believe the reasons people gave as they left the game;

Being forced/funneled into certain playstyles was a big part in them leaving.

I am only one player, we still have 6-10 active guild members out of what was once 50-100 ish actives. We may have kept a few more online with a bit more variety of playstyle choice.

I vote for more options , even if they are simply communes added into hard to reach places.

With luck you can settle in one of the top 2 spots.

For TC and FA, just play normally or play the same from now until Glicko changes or you may undo all glicko gains/losses when you revert to a previous pattern.

Now that I have all the central Tyria masteries that I have an interest in I am happily back playing WvW and HoT areas.

It is hard to explain but the feeling of “waste” can make the game less enjoyable. The removal of the chase can be very relaxing.

Proof how disconnected Anet is with players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I have always believed in giving gamers choices ingame. I supported the removal of forced WvW for map completion, even though at the time the only maps I had completion on were WvW. ( my choice) I could see some pve only players were distressed at having to enter WvW.

I support people who do not wish to PvP to obtain a legendary.

I would prefer all things are available to all playstyles.

If designers think something is primarily from one mode, adding additional longer ways to obtain it in other modes would be very acceptable to me.

People have a right to an opinion, try to treat each other with respect and simply state your own opinions instead of flinging vitriol.

Why not merge all servers into alliances?

I read the OP’s suggestion on how to select the alliances the first week.

How do we move alliances or re-select the alliance members in the following week?

I take it some sort of “retention of old server rating” system would have to happen?

Are you proposing something like “servers fight for a selected map(EBG?) only each week, alliances fight for maps 1-X each week?”

I am very interested in the mechanics of the suggestion as a total removal of the existing servers may shed a few tragics like myself but may end up in the survival of wvw as a game mode.

For myself if SoS goes so likely do I but the game is more important, I can find others.

Any posts that include the words " why should you be able to…" highlight the issue that is annoying many.

If everything in the game was introduced and remained permanently soul bound, ie Mastery points Hero Points, World Exp Points, it would be less offensive to some than making it account bound and then reverting it to soul bound.

The apparent inequities between modes also annoy many.

If Anet were to make mastery points soul bound, some could point to those supporting the concept in WvW and say, well at least it was being asked for and is consistent.

Proof of Heroics Changed for the Worse

This is NOT comparable to a PvE character gaining a HP for that character alone.

This is comparable to a character or player having to decide to work AGAINST the best interests of his guild/team/server to selfishly be on a certain character at the moment that the account wide earned rank flips over.

IMHO, This is a case of rewarding selfish acts and punishing teamwork.

Your “honest opinion” ignores quite a few things.
1. Not everyone runs in groups, let alone guilds.
2. All classes can be useful somewhere – even in groups.
3. Many pug groups don’t actually care about composition unless it’s base is a guild (which isn’t always the case.)
4. You’re completely ignoring the fact that you can earn these proofs in EOTM.

If you only ever have time to go into WvW and run with a dedicated guild group that runs a specific comp – I feel for you. But not a whole lot of guilds are so strict or ridged that they can’t have use of you running on another class.

I liked they way proofs worked before the patch, but please find better arguments against it.

Thank you for saying " you are right some of the time but have forgotten these other times"

I appreciate you confirming my opinion but had not forgotten not all are in groups, i had simply said " this is bad for those in guild groups" etc

I beleive ,The changes do not affect those who run whatever they want at any given time, or not a great deal anyway so i had not mentioned them specifically

Please read your own posts, and take note of what opinions are and then state your own if you wish. Thanks for the support though, it is good to see someone agreeing with me.

I did not find any posts complaining about the period YB was the “Zerg” Server
I did not find any posts complaining about the period FA was the “Zerg” Server

I do appreciate the fact that many of the recent WvW changes promote every man for themselves zerg playstyles. This has worn a lot of WvW players down to a raw end.

IMHO, insert largest server in each tier is doing nothing that Anet is not pushing them towards. To me, The apparent intention for WvW is characters massing together on whichever character suits themselves at that moment and blazing around unopposed across maps gaining karma.

Based on the recent disconnects between company and consumers, I am fully expecting flying golems as the major WvW update.

Soulbound Chests of the Mists

in WvW

Posted by: elkirin.8534

ok.

Comparing PvE character earned HPs and soul bound acount wide earned wvw chests may be apples and oranges.

The wvw account wide earned chests appear on the character you are playing at the time of the rank gain. This character could very easily be a profession you are only playing to help your guild or server composition in a fight or wvw raid.

Making the chests soulbound, is an act that removes incentive to be a team player and rewards selfish play ie switching professions just prior to each rank and being carried.

If you see the issue this way it becomes simply a question of, Do you support incentives for selfish or incentives for team play?

Excellent change, thank you very much. Those of us who mainly WvW appreciate being considered.

The idea that you would get no credit without being in a guild can be reversed.

People would join guilds to get credit in WvW. hmmm

I think the idea of promoting guild play is good. I think this thread is not considering the 5-8 hr a day WvW er who reps multiple guilds as no one guild is online for their whole play day.

The OP was trying to express an opinion. Perceptions differ. Those taking offence to the OP’s faulty or insensitive choice of words could consider just letting it pass as the OP’s opinion.

MMO Raids throughout the years have polarised communities. Many of us have enjoyed raiding on a range of difficulties and actually enjoy the raids themselves, some do not.

For me, I like to complete raids. I do not like rolling against anyone else for an item and I am not happy with what some people become when RNG item drops go against them.

Please add a method that helps raiders not become THAT guy or girl that nobody wants on future raids because of their attitude.

FA and or SoS suffered very large losses of actual gvg/wvw guilds over a period of time.

While I do not feel those trying for a “more than three team T1” actually thought through what they were doing, neither do I feel they are evil. They are just gamers.

That said, I would not wish to raise anybodies hopes on a lie.

IMHO, the best that the 2 remaining T2 teams can do is isolate the cancer from reaching down into T3/T4.

I do not believe any additional server can become part of a 5-6 team T1 rotation until the top 4 destack below the FULL status point.

6 very high pop servers could possibly compete.

Good luck, enjoy the game.

I do not really know the NA guilds names. With raiding I see 4-5 smallish raid guilds and a number of familiar faces during NA. In OCX, I see CST, a few smallish outfits and TF. I have not really raided since TS left for BG.

I have always been on SoS and likely always will be. I feel FA and SoS do relatively OK vs YB and many of us will continue to play and hopefully keep enough rating to isolate T3/T4 from the 4 server T1.
