you know that +1 option next to each post? If that actually represented the importance of the thread to the community that might help Anet know what post to take seriously. For example

Lets say i post something about say, Endure Pain bug. everyo0e who agrees with me or sees it as an important topic can +1 it, then at about 1000 +1s the thread might be made sticky, or maybe send an automated check message to the devs to check it out. That might help out wit their crazy report sizes, it may also help with duplicate threads topics.

you did nothing wrong. Anet was just trying to remove a post that they thought was putting them on the spot or insulting to them because the gist of that post was “Hey ANet you are screwing up!” that is something no company can allow to go moderating because it makes them look bad.

The truth is they don’t look at the warrior forums. A similar thing happened to me when i posted “Guild Wars 2 Redone” on the general forums. they moved it into community creations (read: hid it in a back corner to be forgotten) but they have never moved, or attempted to even comment on my Warrior Redone or TheBravery’s Warrior Balance, both of which are posted on the warrior forums.

Why is Dual Shot so slow?

I’ve actually made mention of this before. not only is the after cast longer but the arrow speed is slower as well. Now, it is kind of cool that dual shot arcs because theoretically it gets around things like minions and pets which can get in the way, but then you notice that ranger bow and guardian blow can piece, and also the ark on dual shot is not enough to avoid these things anyway.

The long and short of it is that the longbow is a condi weapon which does not have the speed to inflict conditions fast enough, does not have the condi burst potential which would counter the slowness of the weapon, and does not have the damage to be effective.

There was a time when the longbow did serve a purpose. You could blast the fire feild three times in quick succession, leap through it and even whirl finish it. you can’t do any of that now because of all the stuns thrown around these days.

Like all things with the warrior everything has fallen behind while every other class has just evolved. (the one exception is thief, which if you ask me has gotten screwed almost as much as warrior,)

you may be right, but i think they will nerf it significantly. I cannot see Anet allowing 20k unblock-able damage go without nerf for very long. when they do nerf it warriors will have absolutely nothing to show for themselves.

Just wanted to say i’m sorry if i offended you. what i was trying to get across is that Berserker was not hard countering you. What was hard countering you was the sheer damage of one skill+a signet that makes it unblockable for like 6 seconds. It can be easily dodged and actually completely countered by simply swapping to sword and pressing 3.. you see gun flame can be LOSed in melee and once you are in melee there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it.

Another thing you have to think about is that the Dragonhunter is way more versatile than you are litting on. There is so much more you can do with your traps than just laying them down and pulling people into them. The superspeed and stealth from trappers runes basically turns you into the best skirmisher in the game. I personally run 5 traps. I use them strategically depending on my situation. The minute I see a warrior my goal is to stealth then surround them in traps. If I’m still in stealth I give them a trueshot they are not likely to be able to avoid because the don’t know I’m casting it. Then I pull them into a trap, swap to sword/focus and finish them off with #2. If they are still up because of endure pain I Just activate a focus skill to get protection and three blocks and stay right next to them. If they start casting a gunflame or killshot, I just move through them which LOSs the shot if done correctly. If they swap to GS, which is likely i activate my forward block after my focus blocks are done. The whole time I am doing damage and if that rotation somehow fails, i just drop a heal trap and start again. if they pull me out of stealth by triggering a trap they get a Trueshot while they are dazed. I’m sorry but these are just a few ways to deal with Gunflame warriors that I know of. There are WAAAAY better players than me out there and all it takes is a little understanding about what your class can do to completly shut down the one trick pony that is the Gunflame.

The finest players playing warrior right now cannot come up with a more viable build for the class than Gunflame Berserker and as previous posters have mentioned it is a gimmick build..

In the future Gunflame and killshot will get nerfed very badly. (they need to be) but the problem is that the warrior has had nothing but nerfs for over a year with crappy buffs that don’t actually fix the problem the class has. You cannot blame warriors for getting upset when someone tries to say that their one viable option hard counters something. especially when that is just not true.

Okay because that sounds really snippy let me inform you of something. Killshot, and Gunflame are overpowered skills on an extremely under-powered class. As such it makes the class have one viable option. one day it will be nerfed.

Weird. I use it and never notice. but i use it as utility anyway. I drop it to get stealth then run to it when i start combat. then drop it again at 50% health and begin my rotations again.

Greatsword should only be power. there is no reason why it needs the ability to be both. but it needs to be able to combo with it’s self without relying on fast hands. This is why in Warrior Redone moved the cripple to Rush and made Badetrail pierce.
In my vision you can now:

  • Rush
  • Rush proc cripple which can proc leg specialist
  • Hundred Blades

Spirit of Nature
Total healing done = 192+1200*(0.15)=372 per second at 1000 range.
Revive up to 5 allies within 600 range (900 range with natures vengeance)
Clear 5 conditions.

This is a good skill, it fails only in that they removed the spirit movement mechanic.

Entangle
Hmm. You obviously have never played a trapper. Entangle combos so nicely with so many weapon skills AND all the traps that i can’t even velieve you have trouble catching people with it.

Well designed skill that i personally don’t use because i play a shout druid.

  • Greatsword Finished.
  • Moved Cripple from Bladetrail to Rush
  • Bladetrail now pierces
  • Reduced after cast on greatsword 1 from 0.3 seconds to 0.2
  • the entire cycle takes 2.1 seconds as opposed to 2.4 seconds

one thing i have noticed is that nearly all of a warrior’s defensive abilities compete with one another. Dogged march is a necessity, Rousing resilience and cleansing ire compete with each other not to mention that warrior has overlapping defensive abilities. Why even bother with Spiked armor whenever you can have 1000 toughness from one stun break? none of these abilities last very long, and all cleansing ire does is cleanse instead of converting. looking at the defense line is very depressing.

In Warrior Redone i attempted to resolve this by overhauling the trait line completely. honestly there is only so much you can do with attempting to re balance these traits.

That’s one option to go with, but I want there to be a reason to take signet of might in the utility bar.

There is already a reason. Other attacks. For example, I really want 100b not to be blocked. Also signets are meant to replace things on a warrior they are lacking from their traits. so if you don’t have burst precision you can take signet of might.

Spiked Armor
Just increase the toughness gain. A little math will allow you to determine a true fair amount. Personally 500 toughness seems fair. but do the math to make sure.

  • Just make them unblockable. That’s all that’s needed with it.

Spiked Armor

  • Do the math. At 2100 power this is 357.5 damage. 6% of a 2500 attack is only 150 damage.
  • This trait is very under powered.
  • in fact sigil of force alone counters the ability almost completly not tot mention all the traits that effect direct damage.
    (I have more to list but these two stick out in my mind)

This is a very well thought out list of changes and I’m impressed. What really makes me sad is that Anet is probably going to print this out, run it straight through the shredder, and go: ‘lets give them another 3% in healing signet lol’

Spiked Armor

  • Protection+Retaliation is a must.
  • Give us another way to access retaliation though the use of a skill.
  • Retaliation and protection are nice, but you don’t get it when you need it. Retaliation on demand would be nice. I’d suggest the mace, as the weapon lacks any true itentity, so something like Mace 3 could grant retaliation which procs Protection turning the mace into a true defensive weapon.

Help: Gunflame Berserker vs Reaper

I’m a Reaper main…I’ve not won a fight against Gunflame Berserker before…
They use berserker stance early so I can’t CC them with fear…
Then they use Immune to Pain stance so I can’t do any damage to them…
And in between they pull off two Gunflames that is so fast and hard to dodge and just kills me…
Can anyone help share some tips?
Do you lose to Reapers? If yes, what type of Reapers? Power or Condi or Hybrid?
What did the Reaper do to win?

You are not wrong. There is more than one viable option for playing the game. The problem is there are entire classes with no viable option. That is not balance or meta, that is just poor game design. This build does not seek to change the idea that some classes will have more advantages over the other, but it does seek to make them as balanced as possible.

Does this Article account for all of that? No, of course not. because there is no way too. There are Fields, and finishers, and traits, and items, and skills that each have there own mechanics. there is no way to suddenly make every one of these perfectly balanced, and honestly would you want to play the game if they were? You’d end up with 12 class options that were all basically the same. No this build focuses on balancing what is the same among all classes already so that each class retains it’s uniquer style of game play.

  • All classes have 6 Trait lines. Standardize them Weapons, Damage Defense, Support, Core Mechanic, Elite mechanic.
  • All Classes have weapons. Standardize their basic attributes. Damage, activation speed, cooldowns
  • All classes have a Core mechanic and Elite Mechanic. give a clear delineation between the mechanics.

This is what you can change in order to balance the game while allowing classes to be unique.

You can break up the meta without unbalancing the game. If anything the changes i suggest will break up the meta by opening up more viable options. Just as an example;

Discipline would be less important for a Berserker because which allows you to Take strength or arms, also you may not need to take Arms if you are not worried about weapon cooldowns, so you may take defense or tactics. Finally you may not need strength because you are running full support. In this case you would take Tactics Defense and Discipline. This breaks up the meta so that there are at least three viable options on one class. And that is just based on traits, not weapons.

either way its a ranged weapon. i know warriors sprint does not state you have to have a melee weapon to cleanse immobilize but that may be why it does not appear in the tool tip. basically the tool tip is keyed to pop up on melee weapons even though immobilize cleanse still activates. before when they did not have any movement skills on the ranged weapons it was never an issue, but now it seems to be. no big deal and easy to understand otherwise.

You raise a very good point. Is the game broken? No, the game is unbalanced. there is in fact a difference.Broken implies that the game is unplayable as a whole. This is not the case. The game is overpowered in many areas while under-powered in many others with very little equality from profession to profession. This does not seek to fix the game as a whole but rather simply provide a benchmark for balance. It is a sad fact of any game system that there will be some items that are more powerful than others. there is always that one best option, meta, or class that out shines the rest. take a look at any Pen and Paper role playing game and you will see my point. The point of this is not to change that, but to provide a benchmark to make the game as streamlined as possible.

I got started building and balancing game systems when I was 15 starting with Returners FFRPG 1st-3rd editions, Game Theory Crafting is my passion and i strive very hard to understand what i’m talking about when I do so.

Depends on what you do overall with weapons. After all, Warriors runes already give you a reduced weapon swap. so if you ad warrior runes and baseline 7 Seconds you’d be looking at right around 5 seconds anyway.

Over the past couple of months i have been very active on a rebuild of the warrior class called Warrior Redone. But the game is far more damaged than a simple class. And so, I have started a new article.

Guild Wars 2 Redone is an article about balancing the game with some very common sense changes. The undertaking is no small feat and what is currently available, while completed, is a rough draft. The article does not specify skill statistics, because this is not a rebuild of skills and traits, but a general overview of changes that should make the game more balanced.

Like Warrior Redone, Anyone may view and comment on that suggestions in this article in an attempt to ensure that everything makes sense and is balanced.

Shattering blow has a half second cast time, with an extremely obvious tell. If you get hit buy it you are just not paying attention. Sure its great in a huge melee, but the extra stacks of burn can be better applied with the primal burst from the sword, or comboing torch 5 and whirling axe. heres the benefit to shattering blow

  • 4 bleed (13secs)
  • Critical hit grants fire shield
  • 10 Adrenaline
  • 2 stacks of burning (2s) every 15 or 12 seconds

Here’s the benefit to Smash Brawler

  • More access to Berserk
  • 3 burning from fire shield detonation
  • Adrenaline 10
  • 15% attack speed
  • More access Flaming Flurry
  • 8 stacks of burning every 12 seconds
  • Open utility slot for something useful, including shattering blow if you want.

and/or

  • most of that abouve AND
  • More access to scorched earth
  • 3 burning every 4 seconds
  • Huge fire field

    Side note: That fire field can be whirled with whirling axe for 15 stacks of burning if you are close enough to the enemy.

Sorry, there’s just not enough reason to take it.

I would not say all other classes got a buff. Mesmers for example got shafted in this latest patch. I’m a warrior and even i was like “DAAAAAANG, that sucks!”

Look, we all know warrior sucks. There is nothing posting on these boards can do about that except compalin to thin air. the only way we are going to get any changes is if we all band together in one unified voice and tell them what we want. This is why TheBravery has spend the equivalent of a second job developing a meaningful re balance, and why i have spent the same working on a complete rebuild. Others have made attempts as well, but without the support of the forums and the drive to get noticed nothing will ever change.

last blaze is not that good. and all shattering blow is not much better. First, last blaze competes with smash brawler which is super important. Second, shattering blow is super easy to avoid.

  • Arms gives you Adrenaline
  • Arms gives you Fury
  • Fury is your friend
  • Fury is snuggley and warm
  • Fury gives you Might
  • Fury gives you adrenaline
  • Fury Gives you condition damage
  • Fury gives you Fire Shield
  • Defense gives you rousing resilience
  • Rousing resilience gives you toughness and heals
  • Time learn to time your stun breaks correctly to heal the last stun in a chain.
  • Mending is your burst heal and is used when you have broken a chain of stuns.
  • There will be a moment after your berserk ends when you cannot enter it again. this is when you use your bow’s burst skill. It will keep up the burns long enough for berserk to come off cooldown.
  • Use sword/torch when they get the drop on you to apply quick burns, then use sword 2 to get away and swap to bow.

It does work with zerker. Its the weapons that don’t. They made torch an off hand weapon which limits what you can do. Torch should be a full 5 skill weapon that can be dual wielded. I use torch sword/ sword sword/axe and can stack burns like crazy with dual wielding. Every time you crit you get a fire shie!lr

What you mean like delete warrior, and create an entirely new class with a different mechanic? first of all that’s not going to happen. people would get up in arms if part of the game they paid for went missing. Second, you should really actually read the redesigns out there.

My own redesign. This is a complete overhaul of the warrior from the ground up which works on changing the mechanics of the warrior entirely. This is probably closer to what you are thinking.

Honestly i love the roll back with rifle. I still don’t believe the riffle is perfect, but being able to get my killshot off more often and put some distance between myself and my attackers is a good change to the weapon. you just have to know when to use the ability instead of just spamming your skills.

They’re distinctly not meta for a reason. :\
Mace and hammer depend on tagging disabled opponents, but those weapons are so slow that the weapon causing the disable can’t capitalize on it. So it’s fairly worthless.
Compare it to FG/PS or even traits within its own tier, and those traits are little more than cooldown reduction with a shrug-worthy bonus attached.

I’ll keep that in mind when i redesign the weapons in Warrior Redone

So what happened to a net adding in more play with weapon sets? I was hoping for more reductions of aftercasts perhaps the reworking of some of the really bad skills. Exe changes were welcome and so we’re theriflechanges but fast hands is still just as mandatory as it used to be.
