These are my suggestions

Reckless Abandon
While appreciate the feeback on this trait, i will not be making this work with dodge and weapon swap. the reason being is that as the trait stand you can get a free hit every 5 seconds (4 seconds if you have warrior runes). I already increased the damage, and switched it to a more frequent usage. Making this work with dodge as well would be overpowered.

Body Blow
Yes that is supposed to read weakness. sorry i keep getting the two confused. thanks.

Building Momentum
Each of these bonuses are meant to be 3% of the total bar. Hence 1 adrenaline and 3 endurance. This is based on math, nothing else. As i do not have any other way to judge balance with this build I must trust in basic arithmetic. it will remain as is, however when we enter the nerfing phase of the build i may change it.

Berserker’s Power
This is a remnant from a copy paste I performed from Peak Performance. I have corrected the discrepancy.

Distracting Strikes
I do not want to make a trait where the player just needs to take that one trait for the build to work. Imagine if you could take;

  • Distracting strikes/Body blow (rolled as one like you suggest)
  • Peak Performance
  • A third trait replacing body blow. maybe forceful blades

No, if you want to be a CC monster. you will need to take three traits, not two. this is both balanced and fair. (and i wish more classes would take this stance…looking at you necromancers!) On the up side, i have made it so that you CAN take the traits you need for this to work.

Strength of Purpose
I agree with your assessment. i will rework this trait as i do not believe it should be based on gaining might.

Opportunist
I do not think that is necessary, however I may take you up on it. I’ll run some numbers

Signet mastery
Sigh. Look, grand master traits don’t mean anything anymore aside from telling people what you mean when you are naming a trait. This is because when you take a trait line you HAVE to take all three traits. I agree that this trait is powerful, but it was included because it is a sorely needed trait. if you wanted i could swap it with furious, but that would change nothing. (sorry if that sounded insulting, not my intention)

Relentless
I’m not sure what you mean. Relentless is not an attack, and if you wanted your attacks to be unblock able, you should have taken signet mastery anyway. so no.

Unsuspecting Foe
I see where this is going. See bellow.

Burst Precision
I saw that post. I believe that with the current trait you will find it more than fair. While the trait says unblock able, it can still be defended against with blind, evade, invulnerability, etc. I am not out to make the warrior more powerful, but to fix problems with it. I will not knowingly make a trait overpowered just because someone wants to have a completely unavoidable killshot at 100% crit because they knocked the opponent down.

Leadership
I may need to change this trait in the future. i admit that i have kept it because it was so unique and i liked it.

Shrug it off
Thanks for the feedback, i did not like that shrug it off basically removed on condition as soon as you got it and was completely pointless after that. so i raised the condi proc so that when it removed conditions it would remove an actual useful amount of them.

Unstoppable
is 80% a little too powerful? after all most daze, stuns, etc don’t do much damage.
I’d like to hear more feedback on this one.

Spiked Armor
You are right. 150 toughness is a drop in the bucket. however, you are forgetting Powerful Presence which doubles this bonus and all other warrior buffs. 300 toughness is not a drop in the bucket by any stretch and you also get retaliation? what? yeah i’m leaving this as is.

Skills
Someone likes the CC Meta. Nothing wrong with that, i just noticed that many suggestions you have made were supporting a stun lock build. I think I can actually picture in my head what build you were thinking off when you looked at the build. I love that, in fact i hope more people lay own what build theories they come up with.

I’m not planning on upping the CC on Physical skills. Aside from giving us a sorely needed pull. I have already boosted the damage on all Physical skills so that they would work better with peak performance. Now, Physical skills are the attacks that they should have been to begin with. All physical skills can crit for at least 2k except for bolas which I gave a pull.

This is really great. I am also OPin a thread about remaking the warrior. if you are interested check out my warrior redone. First, let me say that i’m sorry for the long delay in updates. I certianly did not mean to take this long of a break, but Ruby League called my name and i needed a break from the game after grinding for a week strait. Also I was hoping to get some feedback from players regarding the physical skill changes so i would know what direction I wanted to go with Peak Performance.

Seeing as that did not happen i’m going to make some grammar corrections and remove some of the traits that have universally been despised by the player group. this way i know i have only traits people are okay with.

Also there has been in influx in Warrior remakes on the forums of late. I’m thrilled about this. I also like that people are putting them in Google Docs so they may bee viewed more easily. I’m glad that the discussion continues even outside of this thread. maybe one day we can combine out heads and get a build that anet will actually consider.

That having been said here is the newest changes.

  • Finished shouts. though i believe most of the shouts are fine the way they are I still changed On My Mark and To the Limit.
  • Started on Signets
  • Removed unpopular alternate traits (let me know if opinions have changed on any of them)
  • corrected some working mistakes.
  • Added a new section called Suggestions
  • Added new section called Collaboration which will feature collaborative works from other Re-builders if i can get them to join the google doc.
  • Started working on adding in mechanics to traits. Its about time i fleshed out exactly how these traits work. Of personal note is leadership. I know that many pople have asked how exactly this was supposed to work, and basically it has an internal cooldown of 20seconds.
  • Added in Sections for weapons. It’s about time we started fixing some of them.

There’s something off in the core gameplay of Warrior that I cant put my finger on, so I cannot elaborate on it just yet.
It’s the fact, that you are forced to use two certain trait lines. There are so many traits which should be baseline, but we are not mesmers – kitten so much traits became baseline.

Three trait lines if you are going berserker. A warrior just can’t survive without defense, or discipline. so if you want berserk er you have to have three trait lines. Defense Dicipline and Berserker. And it gets worse. Warriors HAVE to take at leats 6 of the nine traits they have access too. Warriors sprint, Defy Pain, etc. this means that the options for a warrior are not only extremely limited, but they are alo restricting to the point of uselessness.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE getting a 15k Killshot off on people, but im not foolish enough to think that makes warriors balanced in any way shape or form

Rangers are exactly what they are supposed the be, they are the class that can perform nearly any roll, but just not perfectly. And with the added benefit of Druid, they are the only class that can be completely dedicated healers.

Ranger is currently middle of the road in power during a meta that has nothing but overpowered classes. in no particular order

Reaper: Overpowered
Revenant: Overpowered
Chronomancer: Overpowered
Elementalist: Still Overpowered for some reason i can’t lay my finger on
Dragon Hunter: Overpowered, but less so than most people think.
Scrapper: Overpowered

Ranger/Druid: Middle of the road.

Thief: Underpowered
Warrior: So ridiculously under powered people literally abandoned the class.

You see the problem? Ranger is middle of the road, but you may as well lump it with warrior and thief because everything else is so overpowered in comparison.

There is nothing WRONG with the ranger. What is wrong is with all of the other classes that are currently overshadowing it. Getting rid of the range of a ranger pet would be like getting rid of fast hands on a warrior. You would effectively get rid of the one advantage a ranger has over any other class.

I may as well add in there that rangers have already been Nerfed enough as a whole. I’m still kittened about getting rid of spirit movement.

can you get a recording of this? I’ve seen endure pain fail to proc in fights where it gets activated and one more hit gets through, but never have i seen it just fail completly to work.

What you are noticing are the massive Condi spikes that are a part of the current meta. Condos were never meant to dish out the amount of damage that they currently do all at once. This is why endure pain as well as several other skills do not stop condos and also part of the reason that death shroud is so overpowered. So yes endure pain is working as intended but condos are not.

This is my Condi warrior. I’ve taken some flack for it because people say it has no sustain…which is funny because no warrior has much sustain.

Anyway the build relies on timing your stun breaks well to gain health and toughness.
Condition DAMAGE comes from two main sources. The primal burst for sword is capable of giving you 4k ticks. The axe 5 can stack up to 2k ticks when whirling the fire field from torch. If you stick with your friends you will notice that you have no problem sowing multiple foes.

Thanks for the feedback on banners. you make a good point about banner stab there are after all condi and direct damage support builds. I was worried about making the banner weaker by doing this, because while i would have to lower the direct damage of the weapon to apply a bleed stack the banner’s attack speed would still be too low to put significant stacks. its something i should look into.

As for Inspire, that was just wording. i certainly did not mean to make it a shout. LOLZ

Rally creates combo fields allowing the warrior to blast the field to grant boons. Now, here there is a major distinction between “boons” and “Warrior Buffs” Boons are indeed buffs but they can be stripped and have stacking applications. (either through time like swiftness, power like might, or number of uses stability) Warrior buffs are warrior specific buffs that the warrior applies. they cannot be stripped and generally do not stack. Powerful Synergy only effects warrior buffs, not boons. So a warrior buff that applies 125 toughness and 125 vitality would apply +50% or 200 toughness and 200 vitality. There are a couple of reasons this should exist on the warrior.
The warrior does not have any way to stack boons, asside from might through the longbow and now through the torch.

Although, having just typed all that i just realized what you meant . HAHAHAHA. by making warrior able to apply boons have just overpowered the warrior. I will be changing that. Thanks.

I love your idea for leadership, though i think we should apply it to something other than shouts. we should probably apply it to warhorn. this way people will not be able to complain about warriors having too many taunts.

Peak performance has not changed because i have changed the physical skills. When i get some more feedback from physical skills i will likelly change it based on what people say. i did not want to change too much at once.

Druid Does not have to be about team support. though it does make supporting your team easier, It also makes it easier to directly effect your foes. Ancient seeds is awesome with short bow and whenever they get it to proc off of spike trap will be even better. Personally I don’t find druid to be anything except an asset to the ranger. You can easily gain access to Avatar just by healing yourself and your pet, the trait line does not force you to use glyphs, and while i like glyphs I do not use them. I run a rull trap Ranger and have nothing but fun with it.

Beside LB and GS, I don’t think Ranger have weapon with good mechanics.

I’m not sure what you mean there. LB and GS are power weapons to be sure. and they are the most favored by rangers but most of a rangers weapons have amazing mechanics.

Shortbow has amazing mechanics as a skirmish weapon. An extra evade on a relatively short cooldown, Daze (which combos nicely with Ancient Seeds), bleeding, poison and cripple?

Sword in my opinion is the ultimate hybrid weapon. It has quick strikes with 2 evades, condition damage, 2 gap closers, and the damage is perfectly middrange. It also combos well with three of the ranger’s four offhand weapons.

MH Axe: is pretty crappy, but it works well with the torch allowing you to apply ranged burns. Given, the shortbow does this as well but only if you have torch out first, and switch to shortbow.

OH Axe: yeah it sucks. I have yet to find a real use for it

Torch: okay, the torch has the best fire combo field in the game, it drops quickly, has multiple ways of using it, and inflicts burning. the torch throw is anti climatic but still in keeping with the ranger’s condi theme.

Dagger: An extra evade,bleed, poison and cripple. nothing too special, but it works perfect with the sword.

Peak Performance
Damage for the Physical skills has been raised to a point where peak performance now becomes useful. Because physical skills are attacks they are affected by adrenaline gain. I’m against having physical skills having cool downs that are reduced to a point where they are extra where they are extra attacks. instead these are utility skills and where warriors get their CC from.

Throw Bolas
Warriors have several ways to immobilize targets already. I chose to give them a pull to address the issue of warriors no being able to stick to targets. Now you cannot avoid a warrior just buy strafing. you have to watch out for the pull.

Author’s note
So After I get done with the basic rebuild it will be time for what i will call the Nerfing Stage. At this point we will address the finished Warrior Rebuild and preemptively Nerf traits and skills that might become over powered.

Yes. Running Sinister amulet you will easily be able to break 4k burn ticks. Also, in PVE you do not need Dolyaks signet or even necessarily Endure pain. you can run cull rage skills to stack on more burns and more adrenaline which gives you more burns through your primal burst.

  • Was given comparable damage to great sword, i kept it’s attack speed the same because of the new banner trait

Inspire

  • Lowered the might and stability stacks to 2. Raised swiftness duration to 10.

Into the Frey

  • I based the leap range on savage leap originally, but with the taunt i see your point. lowered the leap range to 400. Warriors need ways to stick to opponents. Lowered the taunt range to 300.

Brutal Banner

  • Renamed Skill Rally
  • Added a stun break to the skill.
    *EDIT: Changed my mind. Each banner will now Place a combo field based on the banner.
  • Reduced damage from 400 to 300

So far what gives me difficulty is Bunker Revenant. Rangers are a problem when they are above you, because you can’t get to them. Other than that I do alright. The highest burn ticks I’ve gotten are 4.2k but I admit that I’m not that good. Healing was the hardest thing to learn. Because I rely on rousing resilience I have to be quick to use my stun breaks, and i have to use the right ones. Fighting stuff that does not have stuns normally comes down to me relying on my Full Defense Rotation.

I don’t know if you are missing anything, but other warriors die very quickly too me unless i screw up or they just out play me.

  • Celestial: This is more Tanky, and i like it just as much. max burn 2.5k ticks
  • Wanderer’s: Tanky, but Diamond skin Elementalists will laugh at you unless you can very cleverly hit them with a close up f1 quickly. it will get them just barely bellow 90% health but they will only take a few burns, so you have to headbutt them and blow your outrage to stack on enough to hurt them.

Rabid: Wanderer’s is better

Concept
Burn, oh god the burn!

Attack Rotation

  • Dolyak Signet
  • Start on sword torch
  • Torch 5+Sword 2
  • Weapon swap+Axe 5
  • At the end of Axe 5, f2+f1

Reset Rotation

  • Swap to sword torch at the end of your attack rotation, (refills a lot of adrenaline)
  • Torch 4
  • Sword 3
  • F1
  • back to attack rotation

Emergency Reset

  • After stun, Headbutt+Dodge (breaks stun and evades the inevitable followup interrupts)
  • f2+f1
  • swap to torch, if needed
  • Torch 4+torch 5
  • Return to attack rotation

Full Defensive Rotation

  • When in Danger, Sword 2+Headbutt+outrage+f2 (close to 5k heal)
  • Wait for stun(if you think it’s coming), Endure Pain. (close to 2.5k heal if stunned)
  • Return to reset rotation.

I’m not pro at this build yet. And i probably never will be because of my bad hand. but That’s the general idea. so far it does well against everything except for bunker Revenants and reapers, though that’s probably because i’m not pro.

Last Stand: Love the Balanced Stance proc, hate the position. Competing with Warrior’s Sprint is going to put off a lot of PvP/WvW peeps that use the speed boost to either get around or harass opponents.

With the changes I made to the warrior i do not believe that adrenaline decay is as much of an issue. maintaining adrenaline is much easier now, and you have other options besides burst skills. Warriors sprint is now the warrior’s minor trait. I swapped it with Versatile Rage. This was something I intended to do from the start and just did not get around to. I’m also thinking about giving versatile rage a buff to make it more attractive to players. 3 strikes of adrenaline is not really that effective. 5 might be more appropriate. Some interesting changes. However, I’d like to offer the following suggestions…

Thanks for the suggestions. I like some of them. unfortunatly i looked into a few of these while working on the build. here is what i found, and perhaps someone else has a solution.

  • 100% increase critical chance on burst precision, does not help that much for anyone with at least 50% critical chance. The reason for this is that at 50% crit chance you will likely be rolling near 100% crit chance on every attack due to fury and warrior buffs. in the case of lower precision builds such as celestial you are running 35-39 the additional 35-39 crit chance is actually comparable (albeit more) to the flat 20% crit chance you gain from fury. I felt that that extra damage was useless if it did not hit.
  • swapping Burst Precision and Merciliess hammer crossed my mind. However there are two reasons I did not. First, I did not want three weapon sets on the same line. Second, even if I was not worried about that, swapping them would do more harm than good. Discipline has Burst Mastery. so adding Burst precision to it would just weaken the class.
  • In regards to body blow and Distracting strikes. Thanks i missed that. Stuns definitely would be distracting.
  • changed body blow back to inflict bleeding.

How can thick skin still be considered bad after it got buffed?

OH! OH! OH! I got this one!
1: Toughness was nerfed months ago so that it is nearly useless. That’s why people run glassy builds. all running toughness does is kill your damage output.
2: Second, because of the burst damage meta, one hit will take you below 90% in an instant!
3: This is what Thick skin does. Take a good hard look.
Gain Toughness when above the health threshold.
Health Threshold: 90%
Attribute adjust Toughness: +120

That is a freaking joke. you may as well spit in the player’s face.

4: We already have a trait (Spiked Armor) that gives us toughness based on level.(max 1000) And it gives retaliation.

5. It is a wasted slot that is mandatory, which means even if there was something better to choose from you cannot avoid this trait.

In the current meta warrior is sub par on everything. Sustain, damage output, maneuverability, support. there are better options for all of it. in PVP no matter what you do everything will have more sustain than you. the current meta is extremely not kind to warriors. and honestly if it is not fixed after this PVP league season i’m leaving the game.

This is my greatsword build. It’s pretty tanky for a marauder build. Warhorn opens your rotation for initial boons. from then on you can easily bounce boons back and forth to your pet. in a pinch you can drop into celestial, which should fill up pretty quick. The damage is nice. there is only one way to range pressure though. wolves work best, but i run cats for the boons and sickem.

you know, there are multiple character slots for a reason. no reason to be angry just play something else and have fun until they fix it. I’m never giving up on my warrior. i’m just taking a break from it until it gets fixed.

this was a long time ago. but wasn’t the sword aa3 a leap finisher at one point? if so i get the feeling that over time they just started taking out some of the utility behind the weapon. either way I love ranger sword. I just wish they had more stuff that worked with it. off hand axe is sooo weak, torch is best option, dagger is okay for the extra evasion but the cripple is about useless.

There are a couple builds on this thread already that can manage what you ask. but you are always going to have people who get the drop on you or just plain out class you in skill. my suggestion is just to try out some of the builds on this thread. (not trying to advertise, but even i posted a ranger build here that is fun and can take out mal revs)

to honest i have not had a problem defeating revs with my condi ranger. but sometimes when they get the jump on me the spike me down before i can do anything. In these cases you just have to give them the win.

Ancient seeds does not proc off of the knockdown from spike trap. Or from Daze it seems. I found this when i attempted to spike Trap+Entangle. I’ll post a video today.

If you see a DH go invisible in the midst of a fight. watch out. they are likely using trapper runes, this will give them 2 seconds of invisible which is enough time to get of true shot. count to one, then dodge once towards their last location. this will do two things. One, it will negate their trap. two, if they are casting true shot it will give you a chance at evading it.

This is what i’m Running. The build focuses movement and avoiding movement impairing effects while in combat. it is a skirmisher which is to say that it relies in area denial and area punishment.

Traps
Your traps are where alot of your mobility comes from. You use them for area denial and can even spike condi’s with them.

Entangle
Use when you have lured the opponents into all your traps. This will spike more bleeds and increase your damage (see synergies)

Axe/Torch
Use Torch 5 to place your field. Throw through the field for combo or swap to sword and leap finish it.

Sword/dagger
The weapons set has three evasions plaus it has great condi. This weapons set is also your answer for getting past Elementalist Diamond Armor. (also, see bristleback)

Fire Wyvern
Keep him on passive. his attacks are too slow to help out much, and you need him to pull movement conditions anyway. He works better when he’s next to you because he surrounds you in a fire field. Use his F2 at the start of the fight. you can cancel out of it as it ends to switch to bristleback. the circle he provides will proc burning, and gives you an area to control with traps. when it turns into a field you can leap it or projectile it.

Bristleback
This guy has a 6k F2 on 15 sec cool down. leave him on passive and he’ll nearly always be next to you when moving,but the minute you activate his ability he’ll stand still. this is when you pull away from him. he can pull attacks off of you when you go stealth. His F2 ability can be used to break through Diamond armor 90% threshold. At that point it is up to you to capitalize with sword/dagger, then spike Condi’s with traps+entangle

Druid
Mainly you are running druid for the extra survival. but There is a very nasty combo here. that makes spiking condis easier. Ancient Seeds synergizes very well with spike trap. So lets say you hit an enemy with all your traps. Use entangle immediately for 5 more stacks of bleed, and an additional 5 more for ancient seeds.
Spike Trap: 6 bleeds
Entangle: 5 bleeds
Ancient Seeds: 5 bleeds
Plus all the condi’s you’ve been stacking thus far

Celestial Avatar
Especially when fighting with an ally you can fill this pretty quick. This build, when used properly can fill it solo, just by healing yourself and your pet. The skills offered by Celestial avatar can help you tank a point for a short time, but it’s real strength is saving your life or helping your team hold or capture a point. you can end Celestial avatar early if it is no longer needed and this will help you get it back quicker. Also, don’t forget that while you are healing people around you you can still drop traps. Lunar impact also synergies with Ancient seeds, so there is that as well. It’s a but harder to get off though.

Ancient seed proc: 5 bleeds

Celestial Amulet
Once you are comfortable running with Celestial amulet you may also try running Sinister. You will be much squishier, but the damage increase is pretty impressive. If you do this, I suggest swapping to Strider’s Defense.

Light on your Feet
I know you do not have a short bow. you are literally just taking this trait for the condi damage after dodging.

maybe i’m just confused, but vine surge does hit 7 times. now, players may be able to break out of it before it hits all seven times, but if they do not use some ability that breaks immortalize it hits 7 times. a knock down would literally break it in two ways. one, it would mean that stun breaks would be able to get out of it. there are far more stun breaks than immortalize breaks, two, it would mean that it would be 7 hits as an interrupt. which against anyone who is out of stun breaks, or a class that is not stun break heavy would totally overwhelm them. this game dose not need anymore interrupts, what it needs is someone to to take a hard look at buggy mechanics to fix them. Pet pathing, Staff1, shouts that actually do something, Glitches that can be exploited need to be fixed (and anyone who says fixing them is a nerf is just angry that they cannot abuse the glitch) i do not think that we need to change an elite skill which is actually really awesome when there are so many other’s that need fixed.

Vine surge should be a knock down instead a immobilise.
That way the skill could be an interrupt (synergy with moment of clarity) and also would have synergy with Ancestral Grace.
It’s supposed to do 7 impacts to up 3 targets but actually do just once per target.

so wait. you guys think vine surge, which does hit 7 times mind you, should be a knock down? And that does not strike you as ridiculous and/or overpowered? this is a stupid idea.

Mcrocha.3891, That depends on what you mean by limited condition removal. Swapping into celestial grants condi removal. 13 condis removed is nothing to shirk at. they may as well remove all conditions when they swap to celestial avatar. also, replacing just one of their sigil’s of energy for sigil of purity will give them more condi removal. on top of that, movement imparing conditions have duration reduced, some condis are removed through dodge rolling. i’d say the build has just enough condi removal.

With this build you will be able to cleanse conditions every 10 seconds. That’s good, and if you time it right you can escape when you need to after swapping over. I’d be more worried about interrupts and daze. The current meta is very heavy with stun locks and interrupts. Your build is viable on paper. I’ll try it out tonight and get back to you.

I can only say how I play DH. Personally i run 5 traps. My class is a skirmisher what uses their traps to create a killing Generally my goal is to surround the opponent with traps so that whatever thy try to do to get away the end up inside one of them. True shot is useful, but I try to force players to not be able to predict it. often dropping into stealth is enough to surprise them with a true shot. but sometimes i need to wait untio they are about to trip one of my traps. the daze gives my true shot an opening. When things start to get hairy i swap to sword focus. Focus 5 gives me a small reprieve, and F2 is an extra heal. about the time i go through those I use F3 and swap back to bow. My traps are likely off cool down so i start the rotation over again. The way i play requires me to constantly be aware of my environment. I use LOS any time its available to me. I use traps to block off choke points. and i never stack my traps on top of one another.
