You are seriously complaining about power warrior? If anything they only got more powerful. You’ll notice that the eviscerate undodgable bug has not been fixed (at least if it did i did not notice it in the notes, sheild is still a great companion weapon to the Axe. Greatsword has great maneuverability, and great damage. I run power warrior all the time, (and i suck at it) and i love it. I enjoy it regardless of if i run berserker or core warrior, and nothing they have done has nerfed it. as a matter of fact it has only gotten better.
My problem with necros prior to patch was that I could take down their health, i could take down their shroud, but by the time that happens i was spent. I would certainly get them to 25% health and 0% shroud but then i died. I never was able to stick to them long enough to take them out. Now, i have the sustain to outlist them if I play properly. it’s an even match now where before it was just be doing everything in my power to stay alive.
This thread is talking about chrono, but the same applies there as well. I used to have to do everything perfectly in order to just stand a chance. even then i had to hope they made a mistake. Now the class is a bit more forgiving. it has the sustain to allow a skilled (if not master) player to take out almost anything. Thieves still hurt, Minion masters are still a huge pain in the rear end, and Bunker Elementalists are still long drawn out fights. Sure I can kill an elementalist one on 1, but by the time i have them down to almost dead their buddies have arrived.
Ultimately, yes Warriors can take out any meta class now, but you are far from invincible.
On a another note: if you are running a burn warrior, watch out for a warrior running Shield mastery. I killed myself against a Shield stance when I used Flaming flurry. the guy let me him with the first projectile, then activated shield stance, then he returned the favor. 14 stacks of burn hurts.
I’ve had some great fights against revenants in the last 24 hours as a warrior, here is what i have noticed. Revs don’t know how to deal with warriors suddenly having sustain. you guys keep treating us like we will be dead when our two endure pains wear off, and thats just not the case.
You can’t just run in and burst down a warrior in an instant anymore. you have to kite us, you have to run a slightly more tanky build, you have to save your bug burst for the right moment, and don’t waste your freaking awesome evade.
I have beaten most revs i’ve fought since the update, but the revs who know their class and are on the ball give me headaches because they can still out sustain me and they can burst me down quickly. There are WAY better warriors out there than me. ANd there have been one or two revs who seriously ate my face.
Grow up. one nerf patch will not kill your class. it took them several nerfs in a row to kill the warrior, and only took two updates to fix most of our problems. you’ll be on top eventually.
So, At one point my commander (Purplecam) was running with a zerg of 12. we came around a tower and ran into an 80 man zerg catapulting from a big rock. They did not chase us as we backed away and ran around the other side as if we were scared. Then out of no where Purplecam screams “NOW CHARGE!!!!” and 12 pugs charged the rock. All warriors used fear me, all necros used fear, we ran up the rock and the 80 man zerg jumped off the wrong way and took pretty massive damage. (the whole zerg.) Then we jumped off on top pf them and the result was them going off the cliff either in panic or by the fall damage trait.. 12 killed 80. That is from now on known as “The Battle of Purple Rock”
as for hard CC, Any stance, stomp, Berserker, Defy pain trait, Last stand trait, Shake it off, Shrug it off trait, Dolyak signet, outrage, and Headbutt can cancel your hard CC. On top of that, a warrior who goes into berserk will be clearing pretty much all conditions every 5 seconds with their bursts, swaps, resistance etc. soooo thats your problem
Oh and that massive CC of yours that picks us up and drops us over like 5 seconds? yeah it only takes one stun break to completely negate all of it.
Healing signet (All signets actually) is bugged. if you pop it the passive will not turn back on.
On another note. The new adrenal health is awesome. For those of you who want all three stacks at once, you are missing the point. you don’t have to wait for tier 3 to burst. you can build the stacks over time. also, i’ve mentioned this before but there are a ton of ways to get adrenaline maxed quickly. and berserker makes it even better.
Or never pop healing signet. This especially sucks for my build because i run three signets. Fury for intant adrenaline bar, Rage for Swiftness might and fury(but i don’t really need the fury) and dolyak for toughness (though i have found i can do without it) not being able to use them when i need them is a pain but i have been getting by with just using stances for now.
I would not mind the pierce coming back
You do realize if you stack 25 might on yourself that the warrior and rev might stacking then goes to another player who wasn’t at 25 right? Which would increase the whole raids damage output. Also axe has, and always will be, one of our best condi damage weapons, there’s a reason Axe/Torch is used in every condi build we’ve ever had.
With the exception of sword/ torch, shortbow sure.
My typical Flow for fighting a Chrono is pretty simple. (I run a condi power warrior with longbow and Sword Torch over sinister or Viper amulet and Malandru Runes)
Fight Begins with bow out no adrenaline
- Pop Berserkers Stance
- Pindown
- Headbutt+Berserk+Scorched earth
- Swap to sword (Berserker stance ends)
- Flaming Flurry (chrono Cleasses)
- Pop Dolyak+Torch 4 (Chrono CCs to no effect)
- Flaming Flurry (Chrono Blocks)( Berserk ends)
- Torch 5
- Leap +Swap to longbow
- Headbutt
- Berserk+Scorched earth
- Arcing shot
- Scorched earth (Chrono Cleanses)
- AA
- Scorched earth (chrono blocks)
- AA
- Scorched earth
- Swap
- By this point the fight is normally long over depending on how many stacks i can get onto the chrono
not really that many. but i bet TheBravery comes back to the game
I’m not sure what you are getting at here. You don’t have to run Berserker. In fact if you are going for a power build, i would sugegst not taking it. You don’t haveto wait for 30 strikes of adrenaline to use your burst, the buff stacks three times, so you can burst at 10 adrenaline, then swap weapons and burst again, then pop Berserker stance and burst agian. by this time you are fully in combat and you’ll be gaining adrenaline like crazy. but you already have two stacks of adrenal healing,
Ways to get adrenaline
- hit someone
- Get hit: if you have defense line
- be in combat, if you have arms
- Swap weapons: if you have discipline
- Signet of Fury Instant 30 adrenaline
- Freaking berserker stance
- Some weapon skills grant bonus adrenaline
- shouts can grant adrenaline
- To the limit
My Condi warrior takes them down pretty hardcore, but if they delay me from going berserk for long enough i can’t take them out.
We all knew thsi was coming. I don’t see the point in crying about it. Personally i thought Gunflame was stupidly overpowered for one skill. It was a gimick that got popular for lack of any other options. . Be thankful you now have some sustain
There has not been a think you on this forum for a long time. And it’s about time. I have spent the day playing my warrior in WvW and PVP and have decided to post my thanks here.
for reference I have been running a Sword/torch, Longbow build with Arms, Defense, and Berserker. I’m running sinister Armor, Berserker Weapons, and Celestial Trinkets
Thank you Anet, the changes are much appreciated. Longbow bow does effective damage and I love the new adrenal health.
yeah we knew that was coming. it was overpowered. then agian 25k damage – 20% is still 20k damage. soooo
you know what? Thank you Anet. At least you are trying. I’l reserve judgement for after playing it for awhile
Wow. I disagree with all of you on all of these points lol. I’m not saying you are wrong, but i just never noticed any of the things you have mentioned. To me shortbow is awesome because I know how and when to use each skill.
Concussive Shot
One second is a crappy Daze, but it s more than enough time to proc ancient seeds
Poison Volley
I’ve never had a problem making this Skill work for me. Maybe it’s because I’m always up in the face of my enemy.
Quick Shot
Evade+Attack+Swiftness on a short cool down. You’re right. nothing wrong with quick shot
Crippling Shot
Still don’t understand why people have a problem with it’s used to slow your opponent down long enough for you to get in close. It does that, just fine.
IMO you all want a weapon do be able to work exactly how you want it. you want to place large stacks of bleeding and poison with one or two attacks. All of the problems mentioned above about short bow come down to this. You want to apply all 5 stacks of poison from poison volley to one opponent with one shot., you want to be able to daze people longer with Concussive shot, you want to be able to apply bleeding to your opponent with every shot from any direction with crossfire.
That’s not how a ranger is supposed to be played. Its not how any profession should be played. A ranger is a mobile, skirmisher, who excels in either long range power based combat, or quick, get-in-get-out strikes. Shortbow does not have an evade to put distance between your enemy. It has an evade as a bait’n’switch which allows you to stay alive a bi longer. That’s why you can swap to your secondary weapon mid leap.
Along the same lines the sword has an evade that turns into a leap back to about where you started for the same reason. Ever notice that the delay between both is just enough time to drop a trap, or activate a utility skill, or use your second evade? you can even swap to shortbow mid evade, put out a concussive shot into an quick shot (procing ancient seeds if you have it) and then lay into them with crossfire.
There are so many combos with the ranger’s weapon sets that listing them all would be pointless here. I can understand getting rid of the gap closer on the sword. I for one liked it, but i understand it and i can accept it. but changing the shortbow? No.
btw. Whats the problem with shortbow? its amazing!
Okay guys, If you ahve payed attention over the last few months you know i have not worked on Warrior Redone extensively. However, after the next update i plan on an overhaul which will pull the Rebuild inline with the newest changes and re-balance Adrenaline and associated Skills/Traits. Right now Warrior Redone will be moving all current changes into the change log while i clear the way for the new stuff.
that is all.
My biggest problem with Anet’s ballance patches is that they tend to nerf mechanics of the game that end up effecting one proffession too much instead of spending time on proffessions making them balanced.
Example: nerfing might would hurt warriors (who don’t need to be hurt any more)
^this.
Look at TheBravery’s rework or my warrior redone
Healing Spring may not me good for WVW, but I personally love it in PVP. It turns a point into a condition clearing water field. It can be used in multiple different ways depending on your build and situation. It has a decent burst heal, and of course, for a trap ranger it can provide Stealth and Superspeed. Those of you who don’t like it as it is, maybe just need to get to know it better.
assuming they fix them to actually do decent damage
Lol. Warrior Spear as a not aquatic weapon
also…wrong class anyway.
Makes me sad. I guess im one of the few who figured out how to work with pounce (or likes working with it) I’ll miss pounce, but maybe they have replaced it with something better.
I have found success fixing this by enabling melee aim assist. it stops you from moving though actor boxes. so when you hit an actor (Enemy) it halts your movement.
Strangely this has fixed most issues with leap abilities, though GS on warrior still spins though the enemy which can be anoying.
i love how little that thief used anything but utilities and autoattack. its like that all they need. where a warrior usually is always waiting on cool downs

staff/ greatsword
I wouldn’t use anything too far from this for commanding unless you are just doing a karma train type deal.
Stability/ Stun Break & Reduction / Many sources of condi removal (both shallow and deep) / Mobility / Survivable Stat Balance
You wont do HUGE dmg but you can still do some. Commanding/Zerging isn’t about doing MOAR DEEPS, its about staying alive while delivering death by a thousand cuts.
+1
but that’s not a condi build, which this thread is about. So leave the man alone and try to help him perfect his trapper condi build.
@Crazy Branden.6951
Here are things you need to know from someone who has played a condi druid for awhile now.
Weapons
- Sword/torch: My preferred setup Poison, burning, and two evades.
- Shortbow: Bleeding, poison, cripple, and Daze (which can proc ancient seeds for more bleading)
- Sword/dagger: Extra poison and an extra evade.
- Axe/Torch: Chill and bleeding, but also a projectile finisher that you can spread burning with through your torch field.
Sigils
- Smoldering: on torch
- Agony +Venom: on Shortbow
- Venom on sword:
- Chilling: on Axe
- Venom: on dagger
Gear
- Celestial: My preferred stat setup
- Celestial Trinkets/ Condition Gear: Easy to get condition gear with Celestial Trinkets which are easier to get than Celestial Gear.
Runes
- Rune of the Trapper: My preferred rune. Great for roaming.
- Rune of The Adventurer: its okay
- Rune of Nightmare; good choice
- Rune of sunless: Fun
- Rune of the undead: meh
Skills
- Every Trap: play around with which three you like best.
- Entangle: it’s a must have.
Pets
- It’s up to you what you are looking For, but my pets are all based around laying out condi fields. There are a ton of good choices. I personally you Murlock, and Fire Myvern
Specializations
- Skirmishing: A must if you are going Trapper
- Nature magic: Take it if you are not taking druid
- Druid: A must if you are going druid, obviously
- Wilderness Survival: I always run this.
Finally My build before going full celestial*

I’ll quit. that simple.
The chances are low Bravery, but maybe they will take at least some stuff into consideration. It would be nice if we started to see a reversal in the trend of warriors being left behind.
Maybe not in wvw but in spvp? they have more sustian, more direct damage, more condi damage, better range pressure and a much lower skill requirement. so yes, in spvp they shut us down. i’m sure there are amazing warriors out there who can 1v1 them and win with some measure of reliability, but for most warriors we are completly out classed by even mediocre necros
Zagerus.8675
I’ve had excellent success with the GS/ Axe+Shield core power warrior (found it through K Pop’s post on here.) We still don’t have nearly the team support/utility that other professions get, like Revenant, for example, but we do have top-tier pressure damage. In SoloQ this pressure is quite valuable. Power War
It is superb at team fighting so I would try to spend most of the match in those, personally. Rarely do I ever engage in 1v1’s without the intent of being a boon to my team’s map presence overall.
Gonna have to disagree here. We are not Top tier burst damage in spvp. Sure we have burst damage, but in a fight it is unlikely we will survive long enough to make it effective. Necro’s in particular shut Warriors down
It’s not competence you rarely come across. Its amazing. You see. there are many competent warriors out there, the problem is that the warrior does not work with just competency, you have to be amazing to stand up to other professions with the warrior. And most amazing warriors know that in SPVP they are severly weakened as opposed to WVW. This is why you don’t see many warriors making vids of sPVP, but WVW. because things like food, banners, more armors, and other buffs allow warriors to be more useful.
Well i don’t know how long you have been gone. but it sounds like you missed out on Hambow warriors (hammer/ bow build) and Shoutbow (sword /warhorn, longbow build.)
Several months before HOT came out warriors started to get nerfed every month. Starting with Toughness nerf, Warhorn nerf, might nerf, Shout nerf, stability nerf, and others. It got to the point where there was literally no good build for warriors out there in SPVP> Then HOT Came out and highlighted theis by making evry other class extremly overpowered compared to Warrior. All base professions were pretty much subpar to HOT Specializations, and warrior got hit hardest. Berserkeris the weakest Etite Spec in the game right now and warrior is hurting so bad that they have almost no pressence in League. So, if you are a dedicated warrior player, I feel for you.
(edited by emkelly.2371)
Wow, I can’t believe you bumped this. I spent alot of time on this, but i never actually expected anyone to dredge it back up. thanks for reading it, I still work on it from time to time, trying to fix minor balance changes.
I would pay gems for a guild wars 1 weapon skin pack.
Choppy.4183
Thanks for the great advice everyone!
My build does not require Celestial, i just personally use it. If you don’t go Celestial just run anycondi stats. Start with high toughness then as you get better, you can lower the amout oftoughness you use until you are running full Sinister.
I’m fore wilderness survival myself. it’s like the warrior defense line to me. “don’t leave home without it.”
Heh. Shut up you fool!!! they’ll hear you!
Thuggernaut.1250
emkelly.2371:
I have already dropped Discipline with my Berserker. I win Arms, Defense, Berserker and enjoy myself.
Same, I dropped Discipline as well after they nerfed Crack Shot in the January patch. Strength/Arms/Berserker in WvW (yolo Gunflame).
Still using Discipline in sPvP though.
I don’t even use discipline in spvp. I just run Signet of rage.
Okay, first, if you can recreate it that often. please make a video of it and submit a bug report. Many times things don’t get fixed because we cannot recreate it. I’ve never heard of anyone having the bug this often.
No. and stop saying trolly things.
You know, you say the GS is slower, but i don’t see it. Yeah their attack speed may be similar, but the after cast is worse on hammer. also, yeah hammer can hit harder, but is no where near as utility friendly as GS. everything else i agree with.
Sort of, except when he says never use the sword F1. 8k burns in 1.5 seconds followed by 2k more from Torch 4 is nothing to never use.
I can get 12k burns from my build fairly easily.
That actually makes sense that they have 5 class mechanics that can be swapped. Each one was meant for a different profession.
Oh i run it all the time. but only for fun.
One of the reasons i think it fails is because of the delay between leap and landing. you have to predict where an opponent is going to be, how they will react to the leap and how to counter that move as well as what they can do to counter your move. The slow AA of the hammer makes matters even worse. basically the only attacks that are worth anything are Earth-shaker, back-breaker, specifically in that order and staggering wave (situationally)
Strangly there is a very easy way for Anet to fix all of this. Just remove the cooldowns on burst skills. base them solely off of adrenaline. Then you can’t easily predict when a warrior will use them and they become more useful. I don’t know about you but there have been many times when i have wanted to Earth-
shaker>backbreaker>Earthshaker>swap>Skullcrack>Bulls Charge>Stomp>Sheildbash>Swap>repeat but you can’t link them because of that pesky cooldown.
