Not a suggestion thread :O. More like a peer group of “don’t like this dere trait”
Just wanted to see if there was agreement on the traits we don’t care about due to being underwhelming/useless/lifeless/redundant/whateva.

Never run 33% poison duration in my life, lol wot, anything I do that applies poison stacks the hell out of it. Why am I taking this over basically anything else not named Corrosive traps?

and Hard to catch got me killed once, and so never again.
Brb got hit by headshot and warped into a mesmer’s illusionary wave that was not even meant for me, right off the bridge of silent storm temple and insta-defeated from falling damage.

That swiftness on kill thing will never touch my bar. 5s? I get 2s for dodging, rather just take vigor on heal and dodge more.

That’s at least 3 for me off the top of my head? Disagree with em?

What game mode do you play?

A bit of everything. Why do you ask?

because the modes offer different (though similar) experiences.

Last time I used S/P in pve was before the nerf, I was in the map after queensdale with the krait swamp event grouping things in BP and slicing them. PW wasn’t used not because of damage (again pre-nerf) but because you were perfectly fine tanking in BP.
If it’s a PvE experience, I can’t say much since I prefer to play dat dere S/D.

In PvP I love to run it, if the team asks for something else I groan and switch off, it’s so much nicer as long as you don’t run into protection,retaliation or stability…too bad they aren’t that uncommon. It feels like adding stealth just for the sake of it, you’ll get more off getting boon removal so stability doesn’t lol in the face of 3/6 weapon abilities, 2 of which aren’t heavy on the damage and so you can get rid of defiance faster to do your own thing since BP isn’t as savvy on bosses.

The less of the map I see the better.
Auto /leave in hot-join when it pops up. I’ve played it enough.
UW needs it’s own trait board not shared with land for one, skill selection is terrible and skills need a look at on top of the stomp problem.
I have played 8v8 maybe twice since 5v5 came out, it’s still got issues in a 5v5 format.
cannon seems to bug itself as well at times

Hmm warrior doesn’t feel much different from GW1 to me.
Only difference is their is no monk supporting him so the Elementalist doesn’t nuke him before he gets to her.
GL being a warrior in GW1 with no monk support when everyones nuking you with crap.

Currently Mug is a big part of the “ZOMG Thief instant-gibbed me” combo.

What if instead of extra burst damage, Mug applied 5 Bleeds to the target?

Not only would this reduce burst damage significantly without hurting sustainable DPS, it would also thematically suit the Deadly Arts tree better which is more about Venoms/Conditions than burst.

Sure…when we take away all the other classes’ class specific damage abilities…starting with warriors. Have you seen the damage warriors do?

Use some common sense. People who use Mug are NOT all playing ermergad steal c&d bs to kill bad players.

Deadly Arts tree is just that…DEADLY ARTS…burst damage suites it perfectly considering it PROVIDES POWER!

Your logic is flawed.

People who use Mug outside of a Backstab build barely do any damage with it. I think it hits for roughly 800 on a typical Condition spec.

Deadly Arts also happens to provide Condition Duration and is thematically about Venoms.

Obviously unaware that the Sword sets are entirely power based and also use Mug to create semi-spikes where they would otherwise lack damage and can use it to capitalize on enemy mistakes. Such as leading in to near guaranteed flanking strikes, and chasing pistol whips.

Fixed a bug that could cause rectangular skills to fail to hit the correct targets.
Fixed a bug that could cause projectiles to sometimes disappear if passing through a field that had expired.

Does the first mean Tripwire and Needletrap will correctly work if someone steps on the side?
And will scorpion wire stop obstructing on thin air?

Or are these completely unrelated?

^ They did that on the 14th.
Underwater combat was changed to improve player interaction underwater and make it better as a whole. Not like it was news to anyone that Underwater combat was and is, underdeveloped.

Anyways they included general notes in the 14th update, so it’s not like we were left in the dark for their motives.

They were more defined in GW1, but as far as I can recall not at the start and not consistently. Would be nice to get more information however.

Funny ya, but still, why is the thief special in this regard? Noone has explained that to me. Go ahead, tell me why only the thief should require you to dps him dead instead of a stomp.

They aren’t?
Have you played so long and yet not realized the existence of the Elementalist downed skill number 2 Mist form?
Stomp? Fail.
Dps? Fail.
Or that Ranger’s too have more than one opportunity to fail a down?
Or that Elementalists and Engineer’s can pop invulnerability utils and down problem free?
That Ele’s, Engi’s and ranger’s can revive back up from utils? Or that Warrior as well given enough time comes back and has a chance to full rally?
Downed systems aren’t equal amongst professions and it is note worthy, but let’s not lose our heads.

You get downed by a thief, he stealths, stomps you after a stealth and you are boned. You down a thief, you stomp, thief ports, you stomp again thief stealths, finally 3rd stomp goes…

Taking 3 stomps to finish him off vs he can stomp there isnt a kitten thing you can do about it.

When I play S/P or D/P heres how it goes.
I stomp you.
I hit Black Powder. press Finish, you miss and die. No stealth needed. It’s generally faster.
When I play /D? I hit Cnd, press finish, you generally die but a Ranger can ocassionally interrupt in stealth real advantage is basically just your teammates ignorance.

When facing another Thief?
I press finish, he warps, I press inf signet, shadow step or steal. If he timed it right I just roll over to him and press finish again. There is a delay between when Smoke bomb is ready that means if you react quickly you finish them anyways. Generally thieves can take next to no time to finish, and because they have low health you can swat them dead in no time as well.

As a Warrior/Ranger vs thief?
I down him, press Finish he warps, I roll 1 time over to him. Press F. He starts the animation to Stealth, but gets finished before it completes.
I win. No stress, whatsoever. Worst case Scenario, he warps, I start unloading shots/slashes at him, he dies in 2s.

Yeah, thieves are quick to stomp lol sure. They take the longest of any class in game because it takes 3 stomps. I am not saying remove downstate, I like it. What I dont like is everytime I down a thief, I need to stomp them 3 times, or dps them down. When all they need to do to stomp me is stealth or blind. What is so hard to grasp.

Thieves are quick to stomp if you play thief which I do. It is what is, im just pointing it out.
As other professions, you generally miss one stomp, and then the second is guaranteed unless they get team support or the terrain disadvantages you (Warping up a ledge for instance). Other then that, it’s pretty simple, and unless traited they do kitten damage.

Warriors don’t have an “All buffs” elite. Every class can do what the warriors are doing if they wanted to. I’m not gonna tell you what it is though cuz I don’t feel like being helpful :P

And the reason they probably don’t release patch notes early is because all the QQ that occurs after the patch, will just start occurring before it. No, don’t buff class X. Why nerf class Y. How come no fix for bug Z? Wut u mean new subscription policy?

Are you talking about Rune of Lyssa being used with the Elite signet?
Thieves can get all boons from Basilisk Venom every 36s.
Only reason it’s late on Mesmer’s is because you guys have long CD elites.

Yeah i still post here because, believe it or not , i was a big fan of GW 2 prepurchased it on the first day they started selling it and played it since bwe 1.I would not be posting at all if i didnt have hope that they can improve this game substantially because potential is still there even tho everything they did from bwe 2 ( free allocation of traits removed,) till now was to make this game worse.Also, unlike you, i dont attack people on a personal level unless they start it first, but i understand that if someone lacks arguments and brainpower, like you, to confront my opinions and arguments they will always stoop to your level .

I see no significant reason to go in paids when you can play free’s and get competition.
You have 5×5 hot join, which is the same as 5×5 free’s except you can’t organize yourselves. Then you have 5×5 paids which is the same as free’s but you get slightly greater rewards but have an entrance fee too.
I don’t get why anyone plays paids, other than the idea that it should be the upper-echelon of play, not like a couple ranks 3’s who got 5 days worth of dailys couldn’t go and get stomped there too every 5 days. It seems tacked on and completely unneeded.

The only issue is that traits suck and aren’t nearly as interesting or specific as they used to be pre-beta’s.

Anyways tried warrior utilities took forever to recharge relative to you needing em.
They could make Warhorn skills remove 1 condition by default with that current trait bumping it to two, and I’d probably stress less.

You play GW1?
They implemented the Dishonoured system, and it was a slap on a wrist, a minor annoyance. Hell sometimes you got it, and it made no sense.
People still left RA games if there was no monk.
There will people still leaving RA games if they saw a burst Sin or Earth tank ele and didn’t feel like bothering with it.

It means absolutely nothing once it happens.
If someone leaves, you can slap them on the wrist, but what does that do for you? Nothing, as you’re still left 4×5. Had leaving issues last night, what you think some dishonored system would’ve suddenly saved our team when he had already left?
If you don’t want to play, you’re not going to suffer through 10 mins of crap you don’t want to do and I don’t feel obligated to make you do so. If you don’t want to play with us, then leave, that is my outlook IDGAF.

Like I said, the only thing that really sucks is that I can’t get a substitute in, if someone abandons us because that’s what is important to me. Filling in the hole that is left, not saying “lol he can’t pvp for 30 min because he left us” as if that makes the match I’m facing, suddenly even.

People leave in dishonored systems, they go afk too, and they continue to do it even afterwards, it’s a small deterrent, that doesn’t change the reality of what happens when someone does leave at the end of the day.

You’re having communication problems.
You’re facing teams with greater organization and experience then yourself.
You’re having issue forming more organized pugs.

….and then your conclusion is Conquest won’t succeed. It’s like you’re missing a step.
The first two issues you have above, you’ll have in any team game, as organized teams will be more organized with better communication regardless, the same was true for GW1. The last, I heard it is settled better transferring to Anvil Rock, but I can’t say for sure.

I understand your plight, but how you conclude makes no sense to me.
I understand the mike issue, the solo issue as well.
I do suggest adding people you meet in hot-join to your friend list however.
I agree ranking & spectator will do minimal (for the current set-up), but more then that is happening, so wait & see.

Whole idea of hot-join is come and go as you please.
a GW1 RA system would be stupid.

tpvp? Only issue I have is that the game won’t get you a substitute player if someone hasn’t participated. If someone’s going to leave they’re going to leave, them getting a slap on the wrist for leaving doesn’t change that there’s a 4×5 going on.

I never demanded Portal be given to my class, it’s clear you cannot read.
Secondly it is not primarily a bug thing, shadowsteps and teleports aren’t the same.
Why it decides to flop whether the pathing is bugged or you literally can’t get there within it’s mechanical limits? I’m not pretending I use Shadow trap enough to point out every location it decides to fail in.

shadowsteps use different rules than Teleports, you can try this yourself, Shadow trap will fail it’s warp if it feels a jump is necessary or runs into any other arbitrary pathing problem, even in Conquest.Teleports don’t take elevation into account.

Shortcomings of the Engineer

Im a thief player but have been getting increasingly interested in Engineer.
All I know is the main turn off for me from Engi is the same that I had with the thief in Beta, the random crap. I don’t know how you guys haven’t thrown a brick at Anet over this. When Steal was random in pvp, no thanks jeff, when twisting fangs was this random auto attack? No thanks jeff.
Obviously I still haven’t explored the depth of this profession, but with the weird bugs on top of having to pray every time I use my heal? Don’t know how you do it.

Will say I love my flamethrower though, cancel the target, and then it works perfectly, feel like im really playing instead of being on auto-pilot. Too bad Napalm shot goes out so far (what is that burning speed distance?) and the flamethrower doesn’t react to you turning (but I think this is actually a fault for any aimed skill) fast enough.

Caps are for emphasis apologies for that. In any case you may not feel these abilities hold a candle to portal when they really do
(look at CD duration of option to return and so on).

Having a 60s Choice, vs 17s there is something called, “urgency”.
If I plant this, I have 17s to do my dirt, including running/shadowstepping towards my opponent, and then it’s warp back or lose it all together.
A mesmer has 60s to make they’re choices, and an additional 10s on top of that before the portal closes. They don’t, they’re purpose is different. The closest Shadow Return on IS get’s is chaining it with other shadow steps to close gaps from farther away, giving you a farther return point. This is generally most useful on Foefire, where you can plant near the graveyard. However again you have to close that gap in 17s, fight… and lose it.
In contrast, a Mesmer can plant on Foefire, run up to Waterfall, actually cap it if it’s empty or contest it if it’s not. Have time left over (enough to cap the waterfall in full) and warp back. Where a thief cannot replicate this in any way shape or form, there just is not enough time. You might as well call an Ele Rtl’ing back to an area he just left 17s ago, portal.

And if thieves are so selfish and the mechanic would stay for thief only then why even get it? You already have several instant transport options.

Hence why I mentioned before, how little it mean’s for our profession. The only team support we’d be giving is going back by ourselves to something we had previously abandoned. If this is a keep? We’d get easily screwed as it’s just us. If it’s a point? You can’t bring in back-up. Hence thieves getting a portal or not, mean’s little, even if we want to, we are not good users of it. At best in ideal conditions Shadow Trap replicates the initial jump of Portal, but as everyone who’s used it will know, those ideal conditions don’t exactly happen, sometimes it doesn’t even work, and a thief isn’t as good at that role as he would think.

You don’t need another and you don’t need a mod to make it seem like stealth is even more powerful than it is now.

If it comes, it makes sense thematically, but it’s likely bound to the rules of Shadowstepping, which inherently means inferior. If it comes it’s likely to be selfish, which mean’s inferior to portal. If it comes it’s a buff to a pre-existing skill, and in all likelihood that would probably be Shadowtrap which likely also mean’s a cooldown increase. You think they’re going to just add new skills like that son when they can just augment something pre-existing and then sell you new skills in an expansion without the precedent that they gave you new ones for free? Doubtful.
I could care less if it comes or not, if it’s not an increase to Infiltration as a buff itself, it’s worthless, and if it’s an increase on Infiltration on Infiltrator strike, they’re making that weapon more unwieldy the moment you have to chase someone and move from that anchor point.

Yeah I have it was my main and I got bored with the game play of it (shocker I know according to Anet I was “Doing it wrong”) But in any case look at the daze duration. 1.5 seconds is still 50% longer than the daze duration of any class most of which are capped at 1 second. And the ability to choose to return to shadow trap instead of instantly going there no matter what sounds pretty good to me and adds to mobility for the most mobile class in the game.

Tactical strike wasn’t buffed. Best case for it is on S/P where it was doing nothing due to Stability against some priority targets so now it does nothing 10% harder, which totally makes up for the 15% reduction on the PW they’re walking out of in Stability anyways with it’s heavy wind up and other issues such as weakness.

Shadow Trap is unreliable outside of live combat, that’s where it excels, tagging a guy and getting that stealth offensively or defensively. As a warp? Doesn’t even work sometimes due to range limitations and other factors pertaining to the nature of shadowstepping that Portal isn’t bound to. It’s anorexic shape that mean’s an opponent has quite a good chance to never trigger it as well? Not bad.
