Ori nodes not showing up as minable - Friend showed me spawns I see a ruined base like I mined it but I haven't, can mine 2 out of 5

To be fair Orichalcum prices were plummeting. So much that a full run of every single node in the game would barely only get 60s. That’s bad.
That being said…respawn times are inconsistent. There is one spot in Malchors leap where there are 2 rich mithril veins that I mine at the same time. One respawns as it should, the other doesn’t.
Idea I posted in a different thread:
Allow players to craft the precursor weapons. That means they are going to have to have 400 of either artificing, weapon smithing, or hunting. Which they will need anyways if they are going to make a legendary weapon.
Now. There are several ways they could make the process unique for these weapons but this is the one I think would work best.
Make the “discovery” require 4 parts. There are 4 boxes in the discovery window, yet nothing else in the game actually uses all 4 boxes that I’m aware of.
The 4 separate parts could then be sold by npcs that only spawn after various events. Better yet would be to create events in various zones that only happen very rarely, like once a week and have these npcs only spawn after they are completed.
The 4 separate parts would then each cost 20-30 gold. To put it in a way that Anet might understand, this would be a pretty decent gold sink.
In the end it would end up costing a person 80 to 120g depending on how much the 4 parts would be sold for. But the important thing is that it would allow people to feel like they are making progress towards their chosen weapon. At the same time it would keep the costs of these weapons constant (yet still rare) and people could actually work towards them without having to rely on RNG or super inflated prices on the market.
There are so many benefits to having a process like this created that it’s really blows my mind that the only thing Anet could come up with is RNG. The foremost among those reasons is that it takes a huge grind and breaks it up in to pieces that actually feel manageable. Second is that it doesn’t require the entire player base to be at the mercy of greedy players. While this idea isn’t all that refined I think it’s a hell of a lot better than the current “system”.
Well if he had bought the trainer book he would have seen that doesn’t work and done a bit of research on how to actually respec his traits.
I created a thread talking about alternative ways to get the precursor weapons that would be both fun and make you feel like you’re actually making progress.
Sadly some people fail to understand the point entirely.
Legendary items do have better stats than exotics. It’s not a lot but its enough.
another player who has no clue. gotta love these guys.
@ OP youre just plain wrong with what you say. defending rng mechanics is only done by people who got lucky already or are blindsided fanboys. gw2 has MANY issues currently in its endgame content and leRNGderys are one of them.
RARE has nothing do to with RNG. rng is a bad and lazy game mechanic to make people play the same thing again and again and again without rewarding them. best way to kill an mmo comm. just look what happend to aion back then. there where the same people like you on thier forums defending the RNG mess and look where that game is now. this happens if you make endgame based 100% on RNG.
face it the system is stupid by design. the dev who tought of this should simply be fired on the spot. sorry.
But he’s right. If level 80 exotics are “item level 80” then legendary weapons are “item level 81”. Meaning their starts are about 1-2% better than level 80 exotic weapons.
Everything else I agree with though. All of those points I tried to cover in my thread that I linked to up there. Be nice if people could post their support and maybe one day we’ll get Anet to change how those precursor weapons are acquired.

When it comes down to it. No one has any right to condemn anyone elses play style for the simple fact that you don’t have to play with them.
I see lots of people everywhere I go. And not just bots. There’s always people in Frostgorge, too. So no, not everyone is concentrated in Orr once they hit 80.

All of those complaints are valid but my biggest gripe with it is the cool down once you are downed. I would like to try it out but often I’m completely dead before it’s even half way off cool down.

I don’t mind at all if they nerf the high tier gatherables spawn times. But at least address the concerns of 10000 people who have viewed this thread and explain why some people aren’t affected by the supposed nerf and others are.
And I’m making more selling orichalcum now than I was “pre nerf”, so it’s not all bad. But still, they need to say something. They have to be aware of this thread.
Posted by: fellyn.5083
Still nothing regarding orichalcum from any CM’s or devs? Nothing in tonights patch notes either about orichalcum. Disappointing.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Yeah, just talk to the trainer and he’ll have an option to reset your traits for around 3s.
That being said. Don’t get rid of your books, I think you can give them to alt characters.
Also, I think the books should allow us to reset traits outside of cities. That would be cool.
“knights armor” is crafted.
Regardless if you want to see the other types of armor or not the simple solution is to put a check box in the sell window “Only show useable”. Problem solved.

This just in (sorta): https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Let-s-Start-the-Karma-DR-Dialogue/page/10#post357474
Specific text regarding this issue:
“There was an update a little while back that limited oricalcum farming via server and overflow swapping. This update was too harsh on normal players and we will try to increase the supply of these resources again soon. "
I get the impression reading that post that the situation with orichalcim and mithril and whatever else now is not what he was referring to. Sadly. I could be wrong about that but I don’t think I am.
This may be a stretch but it may be that he was just referring to ore nodes randomly only giving 1/3 what they are supposed to.
Posted by: fellyn.5083
That doesn’t make any sense. Some people can still gather them every 5 hours how it was pre-monday nights patch.
Still would be nice to get a word from Anet on what the hell is going on.
Posted by: fellyn.5083
The rise in price can also be explained by increase in demand, which was predictable. Hardly anyone wanted Ori 3 weeks ago, but now, tons of people think they need it.
Not entirely true. Up until monday night before the patch hit orichalcum ore was dropping at a steady pace. Literally within an hour of the patch the prices started to go back up quite drastically.
So you’re saying that it’s just a coincidence that as the patch hit, all of a sudden more people felt the need to have more orichaclum?
Maybe it is a new form of DR. Only Anet knows, so it would be nice to get a word from them.

It looks fine to me. Gonna go out on a limb here and say that the “pre patch” version was bugged to be bigger than it should be. On charrs, females, and asurans the shoulders are all smaller. They were just abnormally sized on human males and I’m guessing norn males.

Prices for the precursors as of today, these are just the ones I cared to check before getting to disgusted:
Dusk – 299g.
Dawn – 254g.
The Legend – 250g.
The Juggernaut – 150g.
I don’t get how anyone can see this as anything but a huge problem.
Almost as a slap to the face Anet releases this video on youtube today:
Incidentally the video shows off the 4 weapons that the precursors I listed above make.

The spawns are still bugged out after last nights ever maintenance. This is getting beyond ridiculous now.
Anet, tell your players that you at the very least know about their concerns or you’re going to really kitten a lot off them off.
This entire situation is killing my will to play this game quite steadily, and that’s quite sad because I was still enjoying it after 350+ hours.
I suggest everyone who is affected by this get on twitter and send a message @guildwars2 about the problem. I wouldn’t normally do this but I would even suggestion messaging them multiple times until we get a response.

Been about 12 hours since I last mined and none of my nodes have respawned.

If it’s working as intended that’s fine. But if it’s bugged. Not so much.

I don’t think they would need a roll back. Likely they would simply need to restart the servers similar to “fixing” bugged events and skill points.

On the bright side this is a temporary solution to the rapidly falling prices of orichalcum over the last few days.

Getting frustrated with this entire situation and no posts in this thread that they are even aware of the issue although they have to be at this point. The few people posting in this thread probably only represent a small amount of players this bug is affecting worldwide.
The problem is twofold. It’s killing peoples abilities to make money. And it’s killing peoples ability to get armor made without paying an arm and a leg for it.
I have a friend who was planning to hit 80 sometime today and now we won’t be able to get armor for her because the ore is all bugged out. Fantastic.
Yes it’s only likely to be a temporary problem but it’s still adding frustration to the game where there shouldn’t be any.

May be easier to buy rare/exotic swords and make the dawn/dusk yourself than buying it from 200g, if the chance of getting it is arround 10% and you buy every sword for 3g you would need arround 90g, less than half the price.
I’ve said it before that gambling is not a solution. Relying on RNG to get the most epic weapon in the game is not very legendary to me.
Besides you’re likely to spend more and lose more gambling trying to get one than if you had just saved up and bought one to begin with.
After playing Aion for almost a year I detest anything RNG.
RNG for those that aren’t familiar with the term stands for Random Number Generator. AKA gambling in video games. It’s a stupid unfair system and (in my opinion) is only used when a more creative and fun method couldn’t be put in place because the devs either lacked the time or lacked the care to create them.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
I created a thread about alternatives to getting the precursor weapons as the prices for them continue climb sky high here:
Sadly, a lot of people are actually defending the cost of those weapons. But the purpose of the thread was to discuss and suggest alternative ways that Anet could possible put into the game that would remain challenging yet fun. All the while making you feel like you are making progress towards your chosen weapon.
I don’t want it easier to get the precursor weapons, I just don’t want to rely on a fickle market and rng to get them.
Well I don’t care what your results show. Popped into cursed shore the other night and went to do the Grenth event. Literally the first event I did in about 10 hours and I got 94 karma as a reward. Seems fair and probably working as intended.
It would be really hard to post something to an auction house.
This issue will more than likely autocorrect itself after enough time passes. I am not worried about it personally. Good bug to report mind you.
Except for Orichaclum is selling at the highest it has in several days. So it’s a good time to sell. Although that price increase is probably due to a lot of people’s ore spawns being bugged out. x.x
Posted by: fellyn.5083
Same for me and a few friends on Darkhaven. Orichalcum spawns bugged out. I can still see the ruined ones that I mined 12~ hours ago.
Uhm..well to be fair the event rewards actually do not pay for teleporting or repairing costs.
My teleport cost is normally less than 2 silver as a 80. I get around 1 silver 30-50 copper in just coin not including the drops i normally sell. One event normally pays for my teleport. I tend to do 3-4 events if im in a zone.
Your teleporting fee is only going to be less than 2s if you teleport within the zone. If you teleport within a low level zone it will take you quite a while to recoup those costs. I play the game too, I know how it is.
I don’t think it’s an issue that is just for charr medium armor. It’s for all 3 armor types. I would almost go as far to say that I would rather have the tail cut off than have it poke through the armor. But…what is sad is that for some of them they made work properly, heavy Arah dungeon armor and heavy T3 cultural quickly come to mind as these are both high end armor sets.
Hopefully one of these days when things calm down a little more and they have all the serious stuff like broken events fixed they can make the appropriate changes to armors so they fit the tail as they should.
Side note: the heavy t3 cultural armor for charr has a pretty glaring problem of it’s own. When wearing/previewing the pants there are sections near the waist where you can see clear through your character. Everyone go report this bug so it can hopefully be fixed! Sorry for the off topicness of this.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
I had this awesome for world pvp where you would get to choose to play with the opposite faction (inquest/nightmare court) and you would pvp with people during events for control of the areas.
I think that would be amazing fun.
Uhm..well to be fair the event rewards actually do not pay for teleporting or repairing costs.
Especially since they only stack to 250 and you need more tokens than that for most thing.
I honestly don’t get why they kept the 250 stack size from GW1. It got some many complaints in that game it seems odd to me that they kept that restriction. Especially for crafting materials.
I’ll switch from using my glass cannon build when I find content that requires me to switch. I’ve yet to do that.
So to the Op. Play the way you want and I’ll play the way I want. But if you have issues with the way other people play in a PUG group, I suggest you start looking into a premade so you won’t have to get your panties in a twist over what other people are running.
I play for my entertainment, not yours.
Well if the loot drops are what you are worrying about you are supposed to have loot scaled to your actual level now. And it does, sort of. While helping friends level on my 80 warrior doing level 30-40-50 areas I was getting lvl 76+ drops. But not all of them were that high. So I don’t know if it’s working as intended or partially working or what.
The way I envisioned it to work was that it would downlevel you to the max level the zone was created for. So if you went to the 1-15 zone you would always be 15 in that zone.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I never had any issues remembering which maps I got 100% in and which ones I didn’t.
That being said, a little star or something next to the map name would be nice, indicating you have 100% of the goals done in that map.
My guild and I have decided to take your first bit of advice. Though we took it over a week ago. We now play less. A lot less. Actually, just not at all. Just scan the boards looking for some miraculous change.
I think I’ll leave it on my desktop but I don’t expect much as this game obviously wasn’t made for me and my ilk (Progression-based players). Oh well, there are things worse than Pandas.
You’ve got no one to blame but yourself if you came to GW2 thinking it was a progression based game. 2 minutes of research about the game would have told you as much.
Posted by: fellyn.5083
Well all the stuff is still on various karma vendors littered through out the maps to be fair. But yeah, they aren’t nearly as convenient.
I have yet to pin down where I can get orichalcum gathering tools from. Same goes for salvage kits. Any tips on where these can now be bought for karma would be nice.

But it doesn’t have to be. That’s the entire point of this thread. There is absolutely no harm in making a more fun and interesting way of getting those precursor weapons than just simply grinding out 200-300 gold and hoping someone doesn’t put one up on the market for twice the price it was going for yesterday.
I’m not sure why anyone would feel the need to defend things as they currently are.
it won’t be call legendary if it doesn’t follow the supply and demand rule
you are basically asking anet to make legendary not as rare as it is right now because you can’t afford to make one.
It’s not a question of me affording one. It’s a question of anyone who plays the game legitimately affording one. You could probably count the number of people in the game who have obtained 200g or more legitimately on the fingers of one had, right now.
I’m not asking for it to be made easier to get one and that’s all you guys seem to be reading. I’m asking for alternative ways to get them. Why is that so hard to understand? I don’t care if the grind is longer to get one than just straight up buying it with gold. That is not the point. The point is that I don’t want to have to rely on others to not be greedy kittens when they put them on the market for insane prices that maybe a very generous 1% of the game population will ever be able to afford.
And the precursor weapons are just 1 small part of what you need for a legendary weapon so I don’t even get how you can say “it won’t be legendary if it doesn’t follow the rules of supply and demand”. That doesn’t even make any sense. To me it would feel much more legendary if I went out and got it on my own than farming up or buying 200 gold and then buying it from someone else.
any legit source to support that people who can dash out 200g right now are all illegitimate?
you are making a pretty bold claim that people who are effecting the sword price all got their gold from illegitmate source. I would really think you should provide a reliable source to back up your claim before this discussion can be somewhat meaningful.
so, i had already explain this. Not many people can spend 200 bucks to buy golds just to buy that sword. Even if what you said are true and that those people bought golds to buy the sword, the price of the item will drop and neutralize once those people got theirs.
and no, just because you have 17 golds at lvl 80, it doesn’t mean other people can’t have 200g from playing the trade market/getting luck drops.
I never said they all are. At the end of the day all I have to judge these things on are my experiences in the game after 350 hours. I watch the market daily and prices for pretty much everything else continues to drop yet these weapons go up in price. Also chat in game reveals that quite a few people don’t have all that much gold as well. It gets harder to make money daily yet these particular weapons continue to go up in price and the only people who know if they actually sell or not is the theoretical buyer, Anet, and the seller. The forums are also a good place to watch to get a sense of how much money people have in game. Daily you’ll see threads about waypoint fees, repair fees, and so on. All these things combined paint a fairly vivid picture that not all is well with the economy of Guild Wars 2.
And yeah, I never once mentioned anyone buying gold so I’m not sure why you are?
I’ll also ask you the same questions I asked the other person, too. How much time do you think is “right” for a person to get a legendary weapon? And how much gold do you know people you play with regularly have? I’ll bet it’s not a lot.
Once again. Why are you guys defending this? You can honestly say you’re idea of obtaining the most epic looking weapons in the game is farming gold so you can buy it from someone else? That’s fun? That’s legendary? What is the harm in discussing alternative ways to get these weapons?

anet has said, from the get-go, that the legendary weapons require a lot of work, time, effort and yeah, money, to make.
if you don’t want to pay the 200g for the weapon? ok. make it. do the same work the other person did to make it. will it take ya longer? yes. what’s the rush?
economics 101: the only price that’s too high is the one no one is willing to pay. if someone’s willing to pay it? then it’s not too high. what is it costing them? who knows. it’s a cop-out to say these people are all utilizing cheats/etc to do it — but if they are? so what? you want the sword. you can either pay the asking price, wait for it to come down in price, or get it yourself.
also, your tracking of the price and your estimation that it’ll only continue to raise in price? it’ll continue to raise until people decide the price is too high. historically, the prices on these things do peak, then begin to drop. which brings us back to waiting for it to come down.
the only rush being imposed here is by you.
Yes because as we all know what they said and the way things actually are perfectly match up.
Tell me. How many hours do you think it should take to get a legendary weapon. Please clue me in on that.
These weapons are the only thing in the entire game that have prices that have continued to go up. Literally every single other thing in the game has gone down in prices. If you can’t see why that’s a problem then there can be no further discussion.
You’re kitten right it’s a supply and demand issue. The problem is there is an insane demand and 0 supply.
Let me ask you something else. How many people do you know that have more than 15g? 20g? 50? I’d be willing to bet that number is close to 0.
Anet has created a grind that makes Korean mmo devs blush in excitement and then have actively made changes to the game to prevent people from accumulating wealth to even begin attempting to conquer that grind.
Something needs to change before the people decide it’s just not worth their time anymore. I know a lot already have, my friends list has less active players on it every few days.
Seriously guys? What’s the harm in discussing alternative ways to acquire these weapons? It’s very unlikely that Anet will ever change it. But I don’t see the harm in making suggestions that would make the process more fun than just grinding out a few hundred gold just for these weapons when the grind already requires hundreds of gold for other parts of the recipe.

I haven’t had any trouble with waypoint fees, but I am not very high level yet. However, I do use them all the time and teleport half-way across the world. You are complaining about the work to make 6 silver? I think perhaps you need new strategies for collecting money. If you just dig up a few resource points or, when farming, sell off the crafting items on the black lion market, you’ll make 6 silver back before you know it— even in the lowest level zones.
The problem is that for an event completed at 80 you get about 1s.80c. Teleporting anywhere within the same map is 1s.50c at the least.
So every time you teleport into a zone you have to do 2-3 events while there to make it worth the investment just to teleport there. And then if you die, throw another 1s20c into the pot. Teleport 2 or 3 zones away and it will be in the 3s range.
If you are not a high enough level to know exactly how much it costs then don’t be saying “it’s fine” when you admittedly haven’t experienced it yourself.

I’m now actually in favor of having people collect 4 different gifts from the dungeons to create them. That’s 2000 dungeon tokens all together, or more tokens required for a full set of dungeon exotic armor plus 2 dungeon exotic 1-handers.
There are so many different ways they could put into the game to allow people to get one that doesn’t rely on gold or stupid low chances via rng to get one that it just seems silly to me to have those be the only ways.
Most importantly those ways whatever they may be would make people feel like they are actually making progress towards their chosen weapon.
