Go poke your head into the Darkhaven/NSP/Ebay thread and ask people there if they feel like wvwvw is a failure. The general consensus in that thread is that it’s still tons of fun. And that’s coming from the two servers that aren’t winning.
Speak for yourself and yourself only. You can in no way speak for the entire population of the game. Thanks.
P.S. A lot of the issues affecting wv3 will be ironed out eventually. People just like over reacting and being drama kittens.

If they do add entire new areas 1 or 2 things is likely:
1) The new areas won’t affect current map completion at all.
2) The new area(s) will have it’s own achievement for map completion.
It’s unlikely that they will make it affect current achievement progress, though.

Yeah. not sure why there isn’t one. In GW1 they have a little dot near your skill bar that changed color depending on your latency.
Not sure why this feature didn’t carry over.
I think you guys both missed his point.
Just because you’re posting on the forums doesn’t mean you can actually be playing the game at that time. Some people can do so during down time at work.
There is not burst guys its a illusion
hundred blades 2030 in 3.5 second
basic 851 in 1.5 seconds
3.5 / 1.5 = 2.33*
851*2.33*=1985.66*
1985.66* so over 3.5 that is a damage of basic attack
Also basic attack has that vuln
No burst? Are you kidding? Do you even play warrior? My HB does far far far than 2030 over that 3.5 seconds. Easily on average 5x to 10x that amount.
Don’t go off of what the tool tips say.

Level 74 rares and above.
I would go out on a limb and say most of darkhaven is on the west coast moreso than the east coast.
For every post where someone says that the system is fine as is there are 10 where people say it needs to change. I wonder which part of the player base Anet will choose to listen to.
For me? RNG isn’t fun. I’m okay with having to work for something but the moment I have to deal with RNG I’ll start to rethink things. I dealt with rng enough in Aion to last me a life time.
You can buy the precursor with no RNG. Do you have any other concerns?
True. But is that supposed to be fun? I’m of the opinion that it’s not.
Why is it so hard to understand? We want a FUN alternative to getting precursors that is challenging and doesn’t involve RNG.
You act like it’s personal attack on you when people say they don’t like how things currently are. Why are you so opposed to making the game better?

DH here. I have to say, I’m both disappointed and satisfied with how this is going so far. Obviously we’ve moved up in the rankings from our nightcapping (there aren’t as many as people are led to believe, tho, having played late-nite a couple times with them myself) going against non-nightcapping servers. But we haven’t yet found the cohesion and organization that I see in NS in their daytime play.
Can’t say how often I wish everybody’s playtimes synced so we could all duke it out together instead of alternating cap times when each server is more populated than the others. That’s just how it goes I guess.
Also, as of now I’ve had no complaints about either EBay or NS. We don’t run into two servers every matchup that play hard and fight fair and are learning the ropes as we are. Hope to see more of you guys!
This is true for the most part. I was on around 9am this morning and we had maybe 15 people in EB trying to defend both Stonemist and our fort from NSP and Ebay. They easily had twice to 3x our numbers.
We held for quite a while but I had to leave before I could see how the sieges went so I don’t know the outcome. We did what we could but I doubt the people defending held all that long getting hit from several sides at once. If I remember correctly the outer wall of Stonemist was breached when I had to leave.
10) Implement Friend Foe feature so you can ally with other servers.
People actually want that feature? If you want to play with people from a different server there is already a way to do that..
That’s the general idea though. To get people to stay where they are or go to servers that don’t have queues.
Give away their work?
The problem is this.
Say I’m a new player. I purchase the game after its been out a while. I now cannot play wvw at all because all the regulars get to skip the line ahead of me.
The point of a queue is to put people in a line that moves forward. Not to put people in a line and have the back of that line move backwards based on snobbish attitude of people with so called seniority.
This idea is not good. It is barely thought out. While the spirit of goodness is there, the execution is failure. 1 week lockouts I can get behind. Alienating people with some sort of seniority rule I cannot.
You didn’t read his entire post. Did you? He specifically mentions new accounts having the same queue priority as people who have been there for a while. So they would still have queue priority higher than people who server hop.
I had the very same idea just yesterday. I don’t see any downsides to it. But you’ll get those people who transfer daily saying it’s not fair to them. Which it isn’t, but that’s the entire point.
It would also help if you could see your real position in the queue.
Why do they need to be exclusive to the super hard core who play 10+ hours a day 7 days a week?
Because they are legendary.
You are aware they do drop from monsters as well which is another form of RNG but you dont have to risk constantly in the mystic forge. Good things come to those who wait. Learn some patience dude and dont feel like you should be entitled to a legendary weapon.
But he doesn’t like RNG.
This is the WvW discussion all over again. Someone doesn’t like a part of the legendary grind and they demand it be removed.
In what way is grinding the same events over and over again for hundreds of hours to either gamble your way to (hopefully) victory or just buying one on the market like any other common weapon legendary?
In what way is it legendary when someone can get one on their first try and the next person in line has to spend hundreds of gold to get theirs?
This is the part that confuses me.
It amazes me how after all the threads on this particular topic people can still be so short sighted and actually defend this mechanic. It’s not fun. It’s not legendary. And it’s not going to keep people playing longer. If anything it will give them that final kick to the teeth that makes them stop playing altogether.
Don’t get me wrong I love this game. I’ve been following it since they announced it way back in 2007. But even I can see the faults where they lay.
Just to make it clear. No one is asking for an easier way to get them, in comparison. Just a way that is actually fun for everyone who wants to get one.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
I’m confident that Anet will change it. If anyone remembers the early days of GW1 and what you had to go through to just change your secondary class. Well, today it’s about 100x easier. And then they vastly improved the class system with the ability to save builds.
So yes, they are willing to change systems they put into place to make the game more fun for everyone. It’s just a matter of when and not if, I feel. And the class change system in the early days of GW1 got just as much talk in comparison as the precursor discussions are now, too.
But I also think the change, whatever it is, can’t come soon enough.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Don’t like it? Go design our own game, or you can simply go after another skin. Where did ANet say you have to acquire a legendary?
When they put achievements in the game and a medal on the character select screen for it.
Unfortunately it seems as if this game isn’t doing very well with the average MMO gamer. There is a TON of negativity in the MMO community towards this game.
If you bring up Guild Wars 2 in a MMO community you’re swamped with “GW2 blows”, “GW2 sucks” etc. They usually seem to dislike the leveling and say it’s boring, grindy and monotonous. I’ve heard complaints that it’s “not fun” and there’s “no end game”.
Question is how long can this game be supported if the majority of the MMO community sees it as a failure already just a month past release?
I love the game still BUT I know that an MMO is dependent on having a large loyal community if it wants to stay fun and receive constant updates/improvements etc.
It seems that those of us that like this game are vastly outnumbered and the WvW and dynamic events in this game need people to work properly.
Thoughts?
So you’ve managed to poll every single one of the 2 million odd players who bought Guild Wars 2 and got their opinion on it?
In every single mmo that has come out since WoW people always claim an mmo is failing or dead no less than 2 weeks after it’s initial launch. The thing is no one who made that claim has ever been right yet. Unless we’re talking about FF14.
The point is just because some people say something doesn’t mean it’s true and I find it hard to believe there is a “ton of negativity” revolving around GW2 in the mmo community.
P.S. I didn’t know there was just 1 mmo community now.

I’m already on Darkhaven and have been since headstart.

What are you talking about when you say “some players are legendary and some are not”? Your whole post is really confusing.
Are you referring to obtaining Legendary Weapons? If so, there is actually very little true RNG related to the creation of these, with Mystic Clovers being the obvious exception.
EDIT: You saw a toon wearing a lengendary what on his back?
No offense…but can we put this guy on the list of people who have no idea what they are talking about?
The biggest hold up and 1/4 the recipe to make a legendary weapon relies entirely on RNG for them to appear in the game. Weather it by via the mystic forge or dropped from a mob. The chances involved are extremely small and all RNG.
I like the part where you mention the female players.
Ori ore locations will change every server reset, but will continue to respawn every 24h in the same location (when daily resets) until the next reset. This location information you have for particular nodes are good only for your server and only until next reset.
You’re partially right and wrong at the same time, besides that, that wasn’t the point of this thread I think. Those spawn locations are common for every server. However, as you said, each server reset the spawn locations are different per server.
Or, all servers share all the same spawn locations for orichalcum ore. It’s just they randomized per server/reset.
Whichever is easier to understand.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
They are supposed to stay. Did you make sure that you didn’t have a different crafting profession selected in the crafting tab?
Mobs are npcs. Zergs are a group people who stick to large groups and think they have skill when it takes 15 of them to chase down and kill 1 person. And they like to guard hug when confronted with the slightest opposition.
“A mob, mobile or monster is a computer-controlled non-player character (NPC) in a computer game such as an MMORPG1 or MUD.23 Depending on context, all such characters in a game may be considered “mobs”,42 or usage may be limited to hostile NPCs and/or NPCs vulnerable to attack."
As long as I’ve been gaming enemy npcs in online games have always been called mobs. Never once have I seen it used to describe a group of players. The term was being used as such long before GW1 was ever released.

You helped my competition. Gee, thanks.
Except for the ore locations aren’t the same on every server at the same time. And that link is missing quite a few common locations as well.
Oh look, it’s another cool looking GREATSWORD….
According to the link provided by the OP it’s a one handed sword.
@Arius, that is my point exactly. During the day you put up a normal, sometimes even great fight. So we’re contending with each other for points. Night time comes and its a big joke. I hope you all enjoy pveing the map. If Anet doesn’t fix this, it is just going to end up as a big pve for the one server everybody jumped to.
Day time, server a vs server b vs server c. Points are generally evenly distributed. Night time, Server a vs nobody because they’re all asleep. Nice fun, “evenly valued” play time. You don’t need to be a genius to see how Anet is full of it when they say they value everybodies time equally.
We had the map owned before 11 pm though. How is that night capping? Stop making excuses.
Once we took the Overlook fort Ebay just gave up and left and that let us focus all our attention on taking the rest of the map from green in short order. And they (NSP) had just as many defending as we did attacking.

I may not know what makes an item legendary. But what I do know is that grinding for hundreds of hours to buy a precursor weapon off the market like a common loaf of bread or throwing hundreds of weapons into magic blender in the hope that it will shoot out a precursor isn’t legendary.
I’m not saying it’s the most ideal build for wvwvw, but it works. I’m mostly just to lazy to respec before I jump into wvwvw.
Sadness. I’ve been using a similar build and it works just fine. In both pvp and dungeons. I would suggest to people that say it doesn’t work that they learn to dodge a little. The only time I die in wvw is when I get zerged. I managed to 2v1 a guardian and a thief earlier tonight. Granted they were probably bad players..but still.
Though, I prefer sword main hand axe off hand. Swords #2 is a good gap closer.
So yeah, if you expect to stand around and take hits for days, no build is gonna work for you. If you learn to use dodge then you’ll be fine.
And axe #4 is not bad. Not only does it give fury but it hits anything in range twice in about a 180 degree ark and has a pretty long range. I might get more use out of a horn in wvw, true. But I don’t have a decent one and I don’t really care all that much to get one.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Sounds good but a lot of people will have issue with the getting 2000 kills in pvp.
And of course the fact that there is actually only 1 dragon we can kill right now. Zhaitan. Unless you mean the lietenants, Claw of Jormag, Shatterer, and that Sunless fellow.
I bought it because I naively thought it had something to do with Guild Wars.
It’s very likely that down the road they will add GvG battles. The paid tournaments in the patch coming next week is probably the first step in that process.
Just sayin homie. There is currently huge issues with botting in GW2 if you didn’t notice and you wanted to discuss legal way to go about doing it.
It’s no wonder some of the replies are a little on the hostile side. That and the fact that you admittedly didn’t know what you were getting yourself into when you bought the game.
Played the hell out of GW1. To this day I’ve never put more hours into a video game than GW1 (around 2000 hours).
So I’ve been following GW2’s development closely since it was announced way back in 2007.
It’s for the most part lived up to my expectations.
Here’s hoping they do. People are still reporting stuck events and the servers need to be restarted for that reason alone, if nothing else.
It didn’t help that what you were asking for was the ability to legally bot in the game.
How do you go about converting t5 dust to t6 dust? Is that possible? Because dust is one of the common required ingredients to convert all other crafting materials so I didn’t think it would work the same.
You’re refusing to see the point. We’re telling you the same things any Rep. from Anet would. GW2 is a completely different game from GW1 and was never intended to be the same.
The only common things the 2 games share is the lore. Everything else is different, and if you would have watched any of the dozens of trailers or game play videos they have released over the years you would have seen that.
So night capping now is having nearly 100% of the map before 11:30pm on a weekend?
Pretty obvious that you wouldn’t have a band of henchmen following you around when they said the game would be open world and not instanced.
It’s your own fault for not doing about 30 seconds worth of research about the game to see that the mechanics behind it are absolutely 100% different than GW1.
I preordered this game way before there was anything to research yet alone it was still in the making. So how am I supposed to know if they were going to add heros in or not throughout its production.
Because they said they wouldn’t? I and most other people I know who play the game found that out months and months ago. Long before they allowed us to pre order.
The Lord of the ring comparison doesn’t even make any sense. GW2 was never billed as being the same as GW1. Only misinformed people who got it based on name alone thought it would be.
If you want to play by yourself with henchies/heroes they made a game like that for you it’s called Guild Wars 1, why do you think THIS game must be like that game? This game is for DIFFERENT types of people and players.
If THIS game wasn’t meant to be like GUILD WARS 1, then it shouldnt be called GUILD WARS 2. I made it easier for you to UNDERSTAND. I felt you might not be able to COMPREHEND my last REPLY to your post.
It’s your own fault for not doing about 30 seconds worth of research about the game to see that the mechanics behind it are absolutely 100% different than GW1.
Is this the Hall of Monument armor? If so just go get some more at the HoM.
Also you can’t trasnmog armor your character is actually wearing. Try removing it first and then trasnmogrifying it.
I could care less for “legendary” anything..complete waste of my time or money.Glam items dont appeal to me at all.Its the stats that count.
If you don’t care about them at all why post in a thread that talks about the issue of obtaining them? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Here's the thing about "getting" a legendary, give or take 3 years.

It’s funny that if we don’t want to deal with RNG we have to deal with insane prices on the market. But if we don’t want to deal with insane prices on the market we have to deal with kitteny RNG. And so on in a pretty little circle.
Do people really lack the imagination these days to think that RNG is the only acceptable way to get something done?
Er…
If they were an option of the majority of the community then in what way would they be legendary?
In what way are they legendary now? Grinding out hundreds of gold to gamble with or to buy on the market like a loaf of bread is not legendary.
After 50% crit chance and ~70% crit damage you start gaining far more benefit from power than precision. This is at level 80, of course.
